Shock, subdued anger, frustration of not being able to prevent such a catastrophe. All were in second light to Asa's concern for the prince. Those weren't just any hounds but Nico's pets, friends, and companions since he was no younger than he himself was. Oh the prince had self restraint but this...this was not something that his master would forgive so easily. Before he could silently offer his comfort however Asa caught the king's eye and the silent message he gave to dispose of the corpses. Although he wanted very badly to speak to the prince he knew this was a greater deal of importance than whatever words he could say. At least then Nico wouldn't have to look upon the mangled bodies. Posture stiff and eyes cast firmly forward, Asa made his way towards the two bloodied hounds and carefully lifted both of their broken bodies in his arms. He didn't care for the blood nor the gore that the nobles seemed to flinch at. These two had been his close company as well and they at least deserved the respect of being carried and not dragged.
After he firmly had them both securely balanced on both arms Asa motioned for his fellow servants to clean up the blood. The celebration must go on. It must. With steps silent as the breeze, he made his way through the empty hallways in utter silence. He couldn't help but think this all could have been prevented if he had been keeping a closer eye on the hounds. Hadn't it been his job to care for them? The prince had specifically ordered, no, asked him to. Now both of them were dead. The weight of his thoughts burned his eyes and threatened the coming of tears. That however was until he heard distant voices just ahead of him. Upon advancing closer he realized that it was Umilo princess. Yes...she had left minutes after her brothers eccentric act of violence. Most assuming to subdue the Umilo prince's rage. That however was not the case from what Asa was hearing.
With his back pressed against the wall and breathing carefully slowed Asa boldly eavesdropped on the two royal's conservation. From what he could overhear this was nothing but treason! Even if it was just possible fools talk these were words spoken against Ithunzi, the King, and the prince. Yet again there was absolutely nothing he could do about it. Not when one of the royal guards were only mere feets away from sensing his presence. It was then that he could feel his grip loosening. He couldn't however make any sudden movements without risking the others hearing. Asa shut his eyes tight and waited for the inevitable slap of meat hitting the marble floor. The blood soaked flesh slid from his fingers but it never once met the ground. Eyes wide with disbelief, he stood stunned to see a red haired young woman standing over him and quietly pushing the corpse back securely within his grasp.
If his memory served him well then this was the Umilo prince's guard! A torrent of cold beaded sweat fell from his back and caused him to shiver with just the slightest movement. If she alerted the others then there was no stopping them from acting on their misplaced anger towards the Ithunzi. That evidently was not the case as she proceeded to give him a disinterested once over before completely breezing past him and towards the others. Asa took that as he cue to get the heck out of there. When he finally managed to reach the near-by stable, he fell warily to his knees. The first chance he got he was going to inform the prince and if his courage was beside him then perhaps maybe the king as well. Threats from highborns were dangerous, talk between royalty was deadly.
