It's a dog eat dog world;;
Just posting up to see who would be interested! I made this concept for tumblr a bit ago but it's not really taking off there like I hoped so I though I'd throw it out here. This would be a mature themed rpg and I'm thinking that posting would be twice or once? a week ( although more would be great but not mandatory ). Folks could play up to three characters potentially. Also how would ya'll feel about me expanding this universe with more lore etc? Like I picture it as very modern for the most part, though there's some post apocalyptic vibes in this universe for sure, as well as more going on with the government and the rest of the world. Wardogs was mostly inspired by the anime gangsta and the john wick movies, along with elements of various other things. More locations can and will be added later and if you have any ideas for more give me a holler! Any questions after reading anything let me know.
NOW AN ALL OUT WAR UNLEASHES ITSELF ONTO THE CITY, HUMANS & WARDOGS ALIKE ARE CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE. THE GUILD IS TRYING TO KEEP CALM DURING IT ALL, BUT WITH THE LAWLESS POLICE DEPARTMENT APPLYING PRESSURE TO THINGS…WELL IT'S HARDER THAN EVER BEFORE.
WILL THERE BE A CLEAR WINNER IN THIS DOG EAT DOG CITY, OR WILL THEY ALL GORGE THEMSELVES ALIVE LIKE THE WILD PACK OF MUTTS THEY ARE???
NOTE: personal body guards are typically wardogs ( except in the case of the omertas ) , also it should be noted the guild doesn't have body guards due to the leaders being wardogs themselves.
THE OMERTAS
The Omertas are a highly organized and deadly group of mobsters, who control The BadaBing! casino, a sleazy vice den on a grand scale, and as such embodies the ruthless exploitation beneath the glitz and glamour of Lawless. They also control all alcohol distribution that goes on in Lawless. While by outside appearances The Omertas seem content with their lot, the family's penchant for treachery and murder is alive and well, they are well known for bearing a hatred towards Wardogs and the leadership is collaborating with The Lawless Police Department to bring about the downfall of The Guild & The Cosa Nostra.

THE LAWLESS POLICE DEPARTMENT
( HUMAN CHARACTERS ONLY AS OF NOW )
It should be noted that The Lawless Police Department are only working with The Omertas in an effort to bring down two of the powerful families and the governments mistake ( aka the wardogs ), figuring they'll handle The Omertas and The Cartel after the fact. The Police Department used to have a Wardog unit, at some point it was disbanded leaving most people scratching their heads as to why. Rumor has it the government had their hands in it, for one reason or another.

The Cosa Nostra's main location is a very popular club known as Inferno. It has three levels to it and some say even a basement. Although only the heads of The Cosa Nostra know of this; as it's where all their business meetings are held. The first level is a basic club, while the second level is a strip club, and the third level is where most of the actual prostitution happens. They control all prostitution that goes on in Lawless. They are well known for being Pro-Wardog in an effort to gain full control over the city.

Fifty years ago a drug was developed called 'accela' with the intention of using it on the military and police, to help combat the rampant crime across the states. It was a scientific breakthrough by the american government. The drug was tested on the militarily in small doses, before eventually being shipped out in larger doses to police departments all across the states. At first the war on crime seemingly worked, the united states became a place controlled by the government yet again-- but with that new revelation came it's downfall. Other people from other countries would eventually get their hands on it through the black market so it wasn't long before criminals did as well.
The mafia houses rose to power once more, the crime syndicates became the law of the land yet again but not without the police departments pushing back, creating an all out war in major cities. There was a time of peace after awhile, neither side wanting to lose more men, both good and bad depending on the side. It would take the death of Luck Lagossi to change all of that.
Still not everyone appreciated the introduction of this new drug, as accela enhances strength, speed and agility. Despite its potency, accela is addictive and toxic in large or repeated doses. If one deliberately overdoses, their state would be extremely unstable and it is impossible for them to gain the same amount of power every time.
There are two kinds of accela; upper and downer.
Upper acts as a stimulant, increasing the physical capabilities of the user tremendously at the cost of a reduced lifespan. When overdosed on upper, users gain severely numbed pain receptors but also run the risk of incurring organ damage as well as a manic state. Downer is used as a depressant and tranquilizer, slowing movement and senses. If taken after upper it can help maintain the body's stability, however when overdosed on downer, it can cause loss of consciousness, risk of organ damage and fatigue. They are usually taken together to neutralize the effects of one another and their symptoms are generally only visible when taken alone.
Accela can be administered via two methods: pills or injections. Wardogs require a controlled, continued amount of accela in order to stay alive, as it maintains their vital functions plus negates pain. If they don't regularly take accela it can result in withdrawal symptoms, such as dizzy spells, nausea, palpitations and migraines. More severe cases include convulsions, hypothermia, hallucinations, labored breathing and other irregularities– after a certain amount of time, death occurs.
Wardog is the title given to the children and descendants of those who used the accela drug. After the war on crime seemingly failed ( the government is sorta focused on other problems elsewhere ) there was in influx of wardogs and mutts descendants ( see further down ) pooling into major cities, as such they are still a source of controversy. Anti-wardog factions are prominent in the city, despite pro-wardog support from two of the four crime syndicate houses in lawless; wishing to either legitimize themselves by using them, or use them for more nefarious means.
All wardogs possess enhanced abilities due to their predecessors use of accela. One of the four crime syndicate houses; The Guild, offers its wardog members as hired guns, bodyguards and assassins, they also are free to choose their clients unlike most wardogs and can cancel their contracts at anytime. It's a way to avoid what's tantamount to a proverbial slave trade that most wardogs are born into or stolen for.
Many wardogs are blackmailed or raised in these crime syndicate houses from an early age, signing their lives away without much of a choice. In part and mostly due to fear of death, or being raised to believe in whatever houses they grew up in.
The lifespan of a wardog is drastically shortened, usually ending in their late thirties. There are exceptions to this although rare, on occasion older wardogs have been noted. Mutts are the title given to the children of a wardog and a human not on the accela drug. They have less required intake of accela and slightly longer lifespans due to their normal parent. Like the wardogs there are exceptions to them living longer although this is also rare.
tldr summery-- on the differences between wardogs, mutts & humans both on and off of accela;
wardogs need two parents on accela to inherent their abilities.
wardogs don't live as long as someone without the drug in their system; they are also prone to more mental illnesses. in light of this however their senses and strength are EXTREMELY heightened, to a superhuman point. war dogs must take the drug in order to survive, as it needs to stay in their system; although too much or too little runs the risk of killing them.
mutts are the children of a human ( or just someone not on accela ) and a wardog ( or someone on accela ) they live slightly longer than a wardog but not as long as someone without the drug in their system.
they have heightened senses and strength, although not quite as much as a wardog, still it's more than a normal human. mutts also need to take the drug in order to keep it in their system to survive, although they don't need to take it as much as say the wardogs do.
now regular humans can take accela, otherwise we wouldn't have wardogs and mutts in the first place. that being said it's not as potent or as effective as the above instances. it does grant higher senses and strength more than a normal human without the drug in their system– it should be noted that it's highly addictive and can cause complications.

It has three levels to it and some say even a basement. Although only the heads of The Cosa Nostra know of this for a fact; as it's where all their business meetings are held. The first level is a basic club although it's got such a glaring red theme and odd Victorian decor you might think you walked into hell itself. While the second level is a strip club, and the third level is where most of the actual prostitution happens.
The Green House Lounge & Hotel
It's lower level is a chill social lounge while the rest of the place is a rather large tropical themed hotel, it's oddly out of place but nobody seems to care. Some seem to think it's got major Miami vibes. Kinda makes sense when you think about it, Miami hasn't been what it used to be in years, place is practically a wasteland now, along with most of Florida. At least we'll always have the Green House, right?
The Guild HQ
A massive old warehouse that at one point, was some kind of training ground for the military. It's armed to the teeth apparently, although a lot of what it's armed with is rather outdated. It probably wouldn't be so scary if the place wasn't crawling with Wardogs. That being said most of them are probably more bark than bit.
LPD HQ
The a police department is mostly boring and not much to really, honestly...although...there is a room the wardog unit used to use, naw; never mind you guys don't wanna know about THAT room.
Upper Haven
The rich of the rich live here, otherwise the most elite of Lawless. It's an odd place mostly because not just criminals live in this area, often you'll find politicians and police, crooked or otherwise. It seems that most folks in this neighborhood just want to keep the peace, you don't shit where you eat after all-- right?
Lower Haven
It's not as bad here as it is in Hell's Valley, but it's not as nice as Upper Haven; that's for sure. That being said you'll usually find that this community and area is mostly filled with mutts and their families.
Hell's Valley
Hell's valley is the poorest part of the city, you name it it goes down in the valley. The people hate it here, it's downtrodden and overall the worst place to grow up. Often you'll see a number of wardogs living here in an almost exiled state, as most realtors and apartments won't offer them residence in nicer areas.
Big Sal's Junkyard
Big Sal was a former bodyguard to the Cosa Nostra's old leader, somehow he got outta the game alive, some say it's because everyone was scared of him, other's just say it's because he was buddies with the old boss. At any rate Big Sal wasn't even a wardog and people still talk about how he kept up with them all before retiring. Now he own's a junkyard out on the outskirts of Lawless.
Old St. Lucian's Cathedral
It's said there's catacombs under this old church, that people that go in them don't come out; makes you wonder if it's because they got lost...or worse; m u r d e r e d. At any rate it could be either, both assumptions wouldn't be wrong and there are indeed catacombs under this abandoned church. It's a stark contrast that most don't think about when they think of Lawless. There's dead under this city and more than just what the crime syndicate deals out.
Six Pence Theater
This place was only recently opened again, about almost ten years ago it shut down after folks lost interest in the place, lets just say movies weren't really on everyone's minds here in Lawless. Now that someone retook in interest in it's care and upkeep the place is booming once more, perhaps people just see the place as a break from reality. Though like everything in this city even the theater has it's dark past, as it was once owned by The Omertas who used it as a place to ditch bodies, for sometime during that empty ten year period. Patrons swear because of that the building is haunted, the new owner assures otherwise.
Bachelor's Grove Cemetery
If you end up here, well you might just be dead; and if not? Well let's just say it won't be long before you're sleeping six feet under too! Mostly teens just come here to smoke late at night, but it's also where a lot of 'hits' happen. Ironic right?!
Celler de Roca
This place is a quaint little authentic Italian restaurant, it's been around for years and has been a hot spot for many of Lawless's Elite, so long as you aren't strapped for cash, this place is the spot. There's a cellar ( hence the name ) under the place where you can even acquire some of the best wine this side of Illinois. Rumor has it the cellar actually has an entrance to the catacombs of St. Lucian's.
