❥ Chapter One :: Part Two
It was all happening so fast. Before the introductions could take place, the floor began to capsize. In random places, it fell downwards into a valley. In others, the ground climbed up to the ceiling. It was almost like riding a balloon float at a carnival, except it was more confusing than fun. In fact, in the rise and fall of the floors, there was an increasing trepidation. The initial blank states of mind were beginning to understand something painful. They were dead. Gone from the world, without a trace. If it wasn't enough to make them feel queasy, it was the fact that they were no longer in control. In these hovering floors and glowing doors, there was nothing familiar. And there would not be, not for a long time.
The journey that was so explicitly stated in their letters was beginning to unfold in a frenzy of emotions. As the floors moved on their own, the doors from the horizon came rushing towards them, as if about to collide into them. Despite their appearance, however, the doors swerved around or through each individual, as if they were made of air and not the material shown. A few doors stopped rushing, coming to an abrupt stop close to some. As the doors opened, a vacuum of air and wind sucked anyone close to a door into it's bright lights. The scene was now a blur of lights and gusting winds and moving floors. It was pure chaos. And yet in this chaos, they were somehow trying to find their wits.
Three doors opened. An ancient one, with dusty brown edges and a sandy build, A more modern steel door, reinforced with several locks, and a door that was somewhat in between in age, with a large sweeping arch and a dying wreath of flowers pinned to the front. The rest of the doors rushed past, disappeared into the distance.
The first to react was the little girl, Sleeper. She felt herself being dragged, being pulled into the ancient door. Aurelia, closest to the child, grabbed the girl's arm in an attempt to protect her. The floor beneath them crumbled into a hole and the two of them hung onto each other, Aurelia trying desperately to grab at the floor. Why were the doors trying to force them apart?!
Nights was an arm's length from the modern door, but as she sucked in, Blur reached for her arm, pulling her away from the door. The floor beneath them rose, allowing them a few moments before it would fall again, throwing them into the vacuum reach of the door once more. Nights wanted to ask what was going on, but Blur didn't seem like he was in the mood for talking. He looked around at the others. It was hard enough to see, with all the lights and gusting winds, but he squinted through the conditions. Three doors. And there were seven of them, from what he saw. They would be split up unevenly, to say the least. "These are doors to different points in time.." He explained. His voice traveled to the wind to the others.
Understanding the crucial situation they were in, Doc struggled past the moving floors to Chloe, who was in a moment of shock, trying to catch her own balance. "Everyone, stick with someone! Don't get separated!" He extended his hand to Chloe. She was the first person he spoke to so, naturally, he felt inclined to stick with her. Chloe didn't have a moment to spare. The third door, with the dying flowers spun around, pulling them into it's abyss. Behind them, a stumbling Cynthia was trying to understand Aurelia's shouting.
A shouting Aurelia was holding Sleeper with one arm protectively and reaching for the blonde girl, who was far off from her, but too close to the third door. "Give me your hand!" She was shouting, but her voice wasn't carrying over. It was too late. The floor beneath Cynthia tilted backwards, leading her to the door. But Cynthia was a dancer. A good one at that. Expertly, she weaved her way through the moving floors, reaching a screaming Aurelia. She held out a hand to help the girl out of the hole in which she and child were trapped. As Aurelia thanked her, the three of them took a look around worriedly.
Closest to them was Arciel, who was jumping from rising block to falling floor to avoid the ancient door, which seemed to be chasing after him.
"It looks like it's following him," Cynthia pointed out.
Aurelia nodded, "Maybe it wants him to go that time period?"
The two of them looked at each other in realization. That was it! The doors were choosing their own travelers. Aurelia smiled at Cynthia.
"Let's meet again, soon, okay?"
"Yeah... Sure."
She closed her eyes, letting go of Sleeper and extended her arms sideways before running towards the metal door. She collided with some invisible force, which sent her flying backwards into the ancient door. She disappeared into the abyss. Sleeper followed after her, also accepted by the door.
Cynthia found herself being pulled towards the metal door. As well as Nights, who, seeing the lure of the abyss, jumped into the same modern door, leaving a stunned Blur on the top of a hill-like extension. With a shrug, he jumped in after her.
Left alone, Arciel watched the spinning lights and moving floors. It seemed two of the doors were finally satisfied, the metal door and the door with the wreath and arch closed themselves, lost their glow and faded into dust. He stood there as the landscape returned to it's hazy mist and cold air. The floor settled down to a single surface once more.
But still, the ancient door stood open ahead of him, as if waiting. He sighed and walked over.

GROUP A
Third Door with the dying flower wreath
Cycle, Doc
They found themselves atop a hill, overlooking a village. The houses were burning and the fire lit the night ablaze. There was a path down the hill to the village and another path going the other way, into a dark prarie. The two of them were wearing different clothing, giving them a sense of the time period. Cycle was dress in a handmaiden's dress, the bits of silk woven into the dress would predict that she was of a nobler class. Doc was dressed in a knights uniform, bearing the sigil of a lion's mane and a light blue coat of arms whose details were difficult to see in the dim lights.
Time period: 1482, Middle Ages

GROUP B
Second door, the metal fortress
Nights, Cyn, Blur
Blur found himself driving a small pod of a car, racing along a rather futuristic highway. It was as if his body already knew how to drive. From the holograms on his HUD, it said they were headed to the capital, Xenon City. In the passenger seat was Nights, looking out the window of the car. People in the other cars were rather, strange looking. They were wearing all the same outfits, with only bits of color changes and had peculiar hair colors: blue, green, pink. When she turned to look at the driver, it was Blur. He was wearing a black outfit, something that she might have imagined in the likes of a mecha anime. It was a fitted black shirt with red track lines and cargo pants. His hair was a different color, his eyes, too. But somehow, she knew it was Blur.
In the backseat, the sound of murmuring alerted Nights to look back. The image of the blonde girl from earlier flashed in her mind. Cyn sat up from her half-sleeping position to look around. When she saw her own reflection in the window, she was surprised.

GROUP C
First door, ancient door
Arciel, Sleeper, Lotus
They woke up together, Aurelia holding Sleeper's hand. When they stood, they looked around at the massive stadium. Aurelia was momentarily confused. She was dressed in a toga-like gown of silk, with gems hanging from her waist and in her neck. She could feel the weight of something in her hair. Reaching up, she realized it was a wreath of twine and flowers strewn into blonde curls. Her skin tone was a bit more sunkissed tan than she was used to, but Sleeper, too, looked different. She was dressed in a smaller gown, but one of white cotton and tied with a brown sash. To their left, Arciel appeared walking. He was dressed in a toga, with a silken purple robe crossed over his shoulder, pinned with a golden brooch. His hair was a light brown now. There was a sword tied to a scabbard at his hip.
Within the stadium seats, people were filing in and warriors were entering the circle, giving them strange looks. Aurelia took Sleeper by the hand. "Let's go take a seat!" She exclaimed anxiously.
