Name: Joshua Reragon, but don't call him that unless you want your face clawed out.
Nickname: Yer'on. It's a name he came up with himself, and he insists that everyone else uses it too. He'd be happy to share the story with anyone who asks.

Powers and abilities: Yer'on has the ability to manipulate shadows, as well as enter them and move around within their boundaries. As he grows older and more powerful, he will be able to remain inside a shadow for longer periods of time, form shadows into solid objects, and even create his own shadows from nothing, but as it stands, he can't call on any of those abilities. A dark room is his playground, but a well lit one will render him basically powerless. He cannot enter his own shadow, either.
Abnormal features: Two batlike wings sprout from Yer'on's back, and while he has full motor control over them, they're only about half the size needed to carry him. If anything, he can wrap them around his upper body for warmth, or use them to shield another from rain. In addition, both his fingernails and his teeth grow to razor sharp points, ready and able to dig into any flesh he desires.
Body Type: Anyone who didn't know him would look at Yer'on and think someone was cruelly starving him. He's a walking twig, barely skin and bones, but while he does get cold easily, he's just as fast or strong as any other boy his age. He couldn't put on any weight if he tried.
Other appearance notes: Yer'on's skin is pitch black, far darker than any natural human shade, and his bright red eyes stand out in stark contrast. He is short and uncomfortably thin. With barely any fat to fill it in, his face looks downright skeletal, appearing distorted and disturbing whenever he smiles -- which is often.
Hobbies: Hunting, occult rituals, abstract painting

Personality: Yer'on is dangerously unstable and troublingly unchildlike, both in his mannerisms and his behavior. He thrives on chaos and delights in violence wherever he has the strength to exercise it risk-free, and he's always trying to one-up his own flair. His confidence gets him into trouble frequently, but his cowardice is usually what gets him out. Despite his big talk, he values self-preservation over almost all else. He's easily amused and quick to become friends with anyone who shares his morbid, sometimes smart sense of humor, but he can be fickle: annoy him and he won't hesitate to throw it all away.
Bio: Yer'on was born from the unholy union of a human woman and a male demon, a true hellspawn. His mother was sworn to sire the demon's child because of a powerful contract, but nothing stated she had to raise and care for the abomination she'd created, and so she swiftly abandoned him. A fully human child would not have survived. Yer'on was different. He made it through six hard years of life all by himself, living in the forest and feeding on the wildlife. More than one legend spawned from sightings of him flitting through the trees. Soon, one of the nearby townspeople went out to investigate the rumors. There, she found what seemed like a winged boy that was too young to care for himself, and she took him in.
With help from her single father, the young woman raised the boy that she called Joshua, teaching him how to speak, read, and function in modern society. Yer'on learned quickly, developing his mind far faster than an ordinary child. It wasn't long before he began to control his power over shadows, the magic that his demon father had bestowed unto him. His foster mother saw this as an opportunity, not for the greater good but for fame and glory -- Yer'on could become a superhero, the greatest one the world had ever known. Not to mention it would provide a better outlet for his destructive urges. And so, she enrolled him in a school for heroes.
Up until then, Yer'on had been entirely homeschooled, but the idea of fame and glory appealed to him, and still does. Though he struggles with the structure and routine of a boarding school, he is happy to be freed from the confines of his home and is willing to go along with things until he learns to seize power for himself.
