Talk to someone of the legend and they'll probably dismiss it right off the bat. An urban myth, they say; a hopeful dream to give people something other to think of than survival on this nigh-barren wasteland of a planet. That's what most people will tell you. But I don't know, maybe more people believe in it, and just don't admit it. Who can blame them? Most fellows who yap about the legend are crazed coots and fools with no home and no coin in their pockets. But what if I were to tell you that the legend of the Bunker is more than just crazed jabbering? What if I were to tell that somewhere out in that unending, scorching, unforgiving desert, there is a great bunker, a magnificent structure, not built by human hands? And what if I were to tell that within that structure, deep within those dead catacombs, past long sealed doors, there really is a treasure, greater than in your wildest dreams? Well...you would dismiss me as another yapping madman, would you not? Or would you perhaps search for it, as so many fools have done in vain? Would you head into that dry wasteland of bandits and savage beasts, and be known as the one who found the legendary Bunker and claimed its greatest treasure?
Backstory
You are a descendant of the humans of Earth. Yet you have never seen that world, not even on picture; all you know of it are the stories told to you by your parents and grandparents. You live on planet Vespin - a large, barren, dry, hot world of sand, stone, dust and salt. It was once a colony to the great nations of Earth, you have heard. The stories tell that Earth was becoming severely overpopulated, and in an act of desperation, it's people took to the stars to seek a new home. Even after decades of searching, only a precious few worlds were ever found where they could settle down at all. Vespin was one of those places. With no other choice, the people settled down on Vespin 200 years ago. They built settlements by mountains and oases, built great walls to protect against storms and local predators. Vespin was as rough and unforgiving then as it is now. But it was home. But things soon changed for the worse. Rival nations on Earth, desperate for colony rights in order to ensure their own survival, started fighting wars over the new worlds. Vespin is today littered with the wrecks hundreds of thousands of warships that were destroyed in the many wars for the world. Then, a hundred years ago, everything went silent. Ships stopped arriving from Earth; those that were already there quickly left. Attempts at communication were fruitless. The wars ended, but they had left their mark. Technology, society, culture - all had been ravaged by the wars, and were reduced to a shadow of their former selves. The only pieces of the old technology found on Vespin today is found on the shipwrecks that dot the planet. The only form of any nations or governments that exist are independent settlements with surrounding farms, bandit clans, or wandering nomad tribes.
A few years after Vespin lost contact with Earth, rumors started going of a great bunker built by alien lifeforms thousands of years ago was to be found deep beneath the sand somewhere on the planet. A bunker filled with unimaginable treasures. These rumors grew into myths, and the myths grew into the Legend of the Bunker. Many have searched for the bunker. All of them have failed, either died of starvation or killed by bandits or predators, or simply given up and returned home.
Story
Most people no longer believe in the Bunker and its supposed treasures. You are some of the few who still do. You are all childhood friends, some of you have known each other almost since birth. You live in the independent city of Makin. It is officially a democracy, but you all know that is not true. In Makin, the name of God is Mayor Garro Solomon. For the past twelve years, he has been the only available candidate in the elections, and his predecessor was the only one before him. Anyway, you have all dreamt your entire lives of becoming Rangers of Moro, the desert-dwelling superheroes of Vespin who scavenge the great wrecked ships in the desert and bring food, medicine, weapons and technology to the cities. Yes, you would all become Rangers, and you would be the greatest Rangers in history - you would find the legendary Bunker, and with the riches found there, you would be able to make life better, in your own city if nothing else. There will be many dangers and obstacles in your path, but you are confident that together, you can take on whatever this world can throw at you. Will you seek the Bunker and its riches?
Right, so I believe you've understood pretty well what this game is going to be all about. This is going to be a group RP, with a minimum of 3 players, and ideal and maximum of 5 players, including myself and my friend Nathchi whom I reserved a spot for before starting all this up. So I am searching for 3 other players to join us in this game. Shooting bandits and hunting treasure with new friends, ho!Rules:
- Decent spelling and grammar
- Don't be an ass
- Minimum main character age is 17; maximum is 22. Side character age is completely free.
- No godmodding, of course.
- Common sense
- One main character per player. Players are allowed to have side characters, but these characters are not allowed to have any major impact on the story. Exceptions can be agreed on with the GM if you have an acceptable reason.
- What I say goes; feel free to ask questions.
- If I'm not around or a player otherwise has need of an NPC and wants them to behave in a certain way, they're allowed limited control over them. Just don't have them act drastically against their established characterization.
Other than that, all global forum rules apply. Players are encouraged to discuss and plan things OOC. Not a rule, but I think everyone would appreciate it.
Character sheet:
Name:
Gender:
Age:
Ethnicity:
Appearance: (image and/or description; include both body and clothing)
Personality:
History: (optional)
Please note that this sheet will represent how your character is in the main stage of the game. There will first be a prologue stage set five years before the main story. Another thing to keep in mind when creating your character is that they live on a desert planet, so they will want to have clothing that can protect against sun and sand. Dress skimpy and you'll get blisters and sand in your hair and eyes.
Also, feel free to be creative when naming your character. People from all major Earth cultures moved to Vespin, and the planet has been more or less isolated for over 200 years, which means that pretty much anything goes. You can have a real, existing name, a name derived from such a name such as Garro (from Garry) or you can have a completely new name.
