"I decided I would not be a victim any longer."
Dhara
Basic Information
31, Female, 5'7", Kindred Vampire, Sleuth
Order of the Dread (Former Affiliation)
The Cloaked Child (Former Alias)
Personality
Given Dhara has not been given the proper resources needed to work through her trauma, she's an unstable, cynical woman. She hardly understands the notion of love or compassion, and faces both with indifference and disgust because of the lack of humanity she was forced into growing up. Brainwashing, torture, and psychological manipulation were all she knew in childhood.
With this in mind, Dhara struggles to work with others on a team, preferring to gather intel alone and by her own means, through what she knows best, yet also what she's trying to turn away from. She feeds regularly, choosing to take her anger and frustration out on the souls that are donated to the vampires, though she tries her best to hide this part of her from others because she does not accept who she is.
She is still learning who she is and what she wants, though the primary situation that she's been asked to move through is facing her past, a history that she has not divulged to other members, not even towards the person she holds the highest respect towards, Tara Crane. Dhara recognizes that because the Order is ruthless, just as she is, she will have to open up sooner than later.
Weapons and Armor
Dhara carries two daggers on her person, both with intricately crafted black handles and double edges for what she feels would reap maximum "slaughter" on her enemies and other targets. She's also fond of dipping her daggers in black "juice", a smooth, liquid substance that produces gradual deterioration of skin where the blade cuts. While the black "juice" doesn't look like much after it hits the skin (a light gray substance, what one could even describe as "dirty water"), it gets into the bloodstream rather quickly and produces the sensation in the body of being burned alive, localized to the spot where Dhara cut.
She also carries a parry knife for hunting and a shortsword for where daggers may not work in certain scenarios. Dhara's attire is simple black leather and boots that, while not offering great protection to the harder blows, counters with allowing her more ease to perform acrobatic feats and more ease in continually improving her dexterity and precision with constant striking and dodging. She prefers light padding over any kind of bulky, heavy material because her prowess is more focused on accuracy to certain parts of the body, rather than the bulk and strength of one blow.
Magical Ability
Shadow Cloak is a passive ability Dhara has manifested since she was a young child. Shadow Cloak is a "teleportation" style of power where before she engages the enemy, she goes "invisible" in a cloud of dark gray, and teleports behind her target. This ability allows Dhara to immediately land a stunning attack or direct kill without being seen until it's too late. She can only use this on one target at a time and it requires thorough concentration, so if she is disrupted during her teleportation or while manifesting her shadows, she can be injured.
Black Whisperer is another passive ability that projects negative auditory hallucinations to confuse, daze, or possibly anger the target. Depending on the target's defense against mental projections, the target can be confused for less than minute or even go so far, as to become angry enough to the point where they are swinging their weapon around needlessly or clenching their head and screaming in an effort to remove the auditory hallucinations. Most effectively works on groups of up to four targets, though the more people targeted, the less effective the auditory hallucinations are.
Bleeding Red is an active ability that when in action, Dhara boosts her dexterity and precision for a brief time to allow her the opportunity to give a target at least five quick, deep blows or land one critical blow and one regular blow. This must be done when she is wielding two daggers, not one, which is often how she approaches battles most of the time anyways. This ability cannot be used constantly, as she needs time to recharge from one round, however, depending on the amount of targets she is fighting, possibly with others, it's possible to use this ability more than once in a battle round.
History
Dhara was born and raised in Leonsill her entire childhood. She had one kindred mother and one human father, so she ended up some inches taller than a typical kindred of both kindred parents. While she remembers some of her life with her parents before she was three years old, she does not remember much after she was abducted by the Order. The Order was a cult organization that was composed only of kindred. The Order would take kindred children, pure-blooded and half blooded, kill their parents, and brainwash the children into believing that any race who was not kindred was an abomination and must be assassinated because of the massive discrimination and racism held against kindred in general.
Dhara's journey, in particular, comprised of her fearfully choosing to stay silent about the torture she'd go through daily because she was frightened of being killed on the spot. Outside of the cult setting, in public, the Order painted themselves as a "peaceful" activist group who wanted the same rights as other races. Their "mask" was far from the truth though and they were amazing at hiding their true intentions. Dhara was raised to assassinate and kill, only for the reason that another race was not kindred because the ideal was that if another race was not kindred, then they must play a part in the oppression faced by kindred, no matter how small their deeds were.
In Dhara's years under the order, she became known as "The Cloaked Child", for her ability to arrive on scene in a dark gray cloak and attack without being noticed for her first action, often resulting in death within her first strike. The Order was well kept, organized, and terribly good at covering up their trails, that for the long history they have with Khueria, no one has been able to hunt down whoever slaughtered thousands of people without a trace left behind.
At seven years old, however, Dhara found herself in a predicament, which ultimately cost her life as a kindred. After unsuccessfully attempting to kill a political leader and almost being caught in the process, she was dragged away from the scenario and back in The Order's hideout, everyone huddled around, including the children. They used her situation as an example of what happens when you fail for just one move, and Priamos, one of the kindred with vampire affliction, drained her of her blood and forced her to become a vampire.
Dhara struggled with her new identity. She didn't even know who she was with her old one and now, she was truly a monster. She fought the truth for years until one night, when a few of the men got into a bar fight with some berserkers, she temporarily escaped upon smelling blood from a deep cut one of the men sustained. At eight years old, Dhara weakly gave into her vampirism without remorse and quickly drained a young lady leaving a house for what seemed to be an evening party at another person's house.
In the late morning, Priamos found her in an alleyway, warm and craving blood. He allowed her to take some from him, but ultimately, her next feed came from another innocent being. From that moment forward, Priamos taught Dhara how to control her urges for fresh blood and vampiric instincts. She grew more attached to him than any other member, primarily because he would allow her to drink from him often. At eighteen, she got into a love affair with Priamos, which later resulted in his unforeseen death and Dhara managing to escape the cult at twenty four.
At twenty seven, after four years of traveling and hiding who she truly was from the world, she found Mora Fane. With no one to guide her, she tried to make a name for herself, hunting and gathering wood in the woods for a price that would give her enough coin to survive, though she was barely making ends meet. A year later, exhausted and out of options, she overheard some people talking about a group called Grim Legion and assassinations. Dhara's interest was immediately peaked, hoping that perhaps this Grim Legion could provide her protection. Rya, one of the members, indulged her and she was hooked, though she sold herself short and started off as intel, gradually moving into the role of a sleuth.
I agree to the assassin's code.
