Re: Insanity - CHAPTER 4
Myrnodyn grimly watched the procedures, and crossed his arms as his once close friend Porg and the new girl they had picked up on their travels got cornered in diplomatic talks with the count. The first mistake that had been made was thinking that the thing was human and prone to the full spectrum of human feelings, the second mistake they had made was to adopt a servile attitude while they were in a position of strength.
Of course the Count would take full advantage of the current situation. He had them by the proverbial balls, whatever they said now would just be twisted and thrown in their faces until the mean bastard got what they wanted. The Shapeshifter Regent sighed and looked the other way for a moment. It was likely that if he interfered now that he would make matters worse. However, it was certainty that if these two were left alone in the room with these vampires it would end badly for them. Instead he chose to take a personal risk.
He stretched and yawned, drawing attention to himself by drawing out the gesture ridiculously long. Before blinking at the vampires with seemingly surprised eyes, as if he wanted to ask if they had never seen anyway stretch before.
"Well guys, I've heard enough. The Count over there seems to think he can hide his little fiefdom forever from the bastards outside, and that the Shapeshifter regent himself would put himself at risk in a room full of vampires just to insult him. I suppose he also thinks that the noobs outside are both tastier and easier to catch than Iwakuans, because we are obviously winning the war. Lastly, and I find this particularly funny, he thinks that just because he MIGHT be able to kill us all that he has the upper hand, no doubt unconcerned with the unlives the other vampires would need to risk for it."
Myrnodyn looked around at the shocked faces of the vampires around him, bar maybe the count and countess. One was not THAT rude against the Count and lived. "Now, if you'll excuse me. I'm getting out of here. If we won't receive the help we need from the count for less than our blood, I'd rather risk the noobs outside, and should I get caught it will give me a grim satisfaction knowing that I have just the information I need to screw over the ROYAL bastard that wouldn't help us to save his own damned hide."
The scientist could feel the vampires recovering, chuckling and giggling no more as they prepared to rip this man to shreds at the word of their leader. The thought of teleportation was at the forefront of his mind, and he would be gone in the blink of an eye should he have to run, yet his quick mind knew that behind all the posturing of the count there was an equally quick and experienced mind. A quick mind that had just been given pause and food for thought.
Myrnodyn just prayed that he had not pushed TOO far, and doomed them to a fight in the process.
(Summary: Myrn realizes that diplomacy is more than placating your mental opponent, and in an act that draws most of the attention to himself he reveals that he does not intend to play by the counts rules. He is shockingly rude and realizes the danger he puts himself and others in, and as such is prepared to teleport as soon as possible and ready for a possibly ensuing battle.)
