The Artist and Her Muse

Following Trace over to the booth, Shay set her coffee and muffin down before removing her bag and sliding into her seat. Smiling as he offered her a lady finger, she accepted with a polite thank you and took a small bite of the food. Delighted in how good it taste, Shay soon covered her mouth as he asked her a question, swallowing rather awkwardly as she remembered the sketches she had done after she went home. They were all of him, so she couldn't show him. Suddenly she was rather nervous and unsure of what to do, "Uhm, yes I did, but they are at home." She smiled awkwardly as she glanced to her bag and then back at him.

At this, he looked a little upset, twiddling his forefinger around his thumb as if to grasp a sheet of air
"..Shame I was wanting to see more of your art..."
He smiled though
"..No matter, it seems you have been busy. You're very good at what you do, but I ask do you do something else other then sketch? Do you have another occupation?"
As he asked this he saw her glance at her pack then at him, wondering if she is hiding it, but decides not to pester.

When he didn't press about her perhaps lying about the artwork in her bag, Shay smiled warmly, relaxing as she looked over at him. Seeing as she rarely ever had conversations with the people she made her sketches about, she had never come into this problem, and therefore had had no idea what to do about it. So she was thankful that this had worked out for her benefit, seeing as she wouldn't know what to do if he reacted badly. "Perhaps another time. I had to get a new sketchbook, so that's why none of my art is with me." She felt bad for lying, but she didn't want to scare Trace by how many sketches she had done of him. It was weird, but it just happened to be where her inspiration had landed.

Lifting her cup to her lips, Shay took a few sips before nodding her head, "Thank you, I appreciate that. Yes, I do. I work for my mother's business, helping her make sure it runs smoothly." It was a simple job, helping her mother, but something that she had insisted upon so that Shay get more experience in running a business. Though her mother had no idea that Shay was going to use her business degree in order to open up an art shop.

"Oh what shop does you-"
He was interrupted by a bolting Aura trying to get her owner's attention for a bit, hinting a bit of jealousy for not being the center of his attention, letting out a little whine like a spoiled little puppy she is. She was always on his mind and, not that she was angry at Shay for it, but she noticed this human was taking his attention from her and she was confused. She was his baby since she was a pup, always in his arms in his reach in his sight, but now he was paying attention to another
"..Aura!...Girl down."
She whined but obeyed, sitting down, but decided to be tricky, jumping up onto Shay's lap so that he saw both of them, he couldn't help but smirk at this hiding his grinning mouth at the sight.
"..Sorry about this she seems to be jealous of us talking,,maybe later we can walk and talk and give her some exercise?

Startled by Aura's actions, the female soon started to chuckle to herself as she felt her heart rate slowly start to calm down. Watching the pup as she sipped at her drink, she was glad when she set it down moments before Aura got into her lap. Lifting her hand, Shay slowly started to stroke down the pup's back, shifting her attention back to Trace, "Oh, it's perfectly fine. And of course," she smiled as she looked back at Aura as she continued to pet her.

Aura licked her hand, glad to have some attention but she turned back to Trace as her master stood, clapping his palm to his knee which made her bolt to his side, trying to jump up at his chest and yapping happily. He ruffled her forehead as she nuzzled into his fingers, wanting to be petted but calmed down with a tick of his tongue, slowly walking beside him as he walked over to Shay, offering his other hand to her.

"Come on, it's a lovely evening, and I'd like to continue this time with you.."
He smiled and looked into her eyes as he waited her next move.

Watching Trace and Aura interact, obviously seeing the love that the two shared for her each other, Shay smiled as she once again thought about what her life would be like if she got a dog. When Trace offered his hand, the woman smiled as she placed her hand in his and stood up from her chair, "It is a lovely evening. And of course," she said as she reached down to pick up her bag, making sure the notepad was still hidden inside of it.

He gave her palm a gentle squeeze before letting it fall beside her again as they stride together, outside to the crisp cool air, welcoming their walk together. Aura was happiest of all to be able to be free but stood close to Trace, no leash, but never far from him. She never bounded away, she was obeisant and always by his side. But as they walked Trace looked over at Shay to talk.
"Soo....do you have any plans tonight?"

With the gentle squeeze to her hand, Shay smiled softly as she looked down nervously, this being something new to her. The female rarely ever held hands with people of the opposite sex, only having done it a few times in her life. She had mainly kept to herself growing up, learning about famous artists and perfectly her own art. She liked keeping to herself, especially since she got more done without being distracted by wanting to chase after boys or go out to parties. Plus the fact that her mother usually had her working at the shop or keeping her at home most of the time.

As they walked, Shay placed a hand on her bag as she let the other dangle beside her, looking down at the ground as they moved and then looking over at Trace as he asked the question, "Ah, no real plans." She chuckled softly as she usually spent her nights working on her art or helping her mother with the business. Her life was quite boring, but she usually didn't mind it too much.

He looked down and blushed as she answered, hoping she was free and deciding something odd, something about her compelled him to ask
"...Would you like to go out sometime..like an official date.."

Looking around as they walked, Shay was enjoying the day, especially how beautiful it was out. She always loved walks for they provided her with a chance to find a new spot to sit at and sketch, to gain inspiration from. Yet for some reason, every time she thought that a spot they passed looked like a good image to sketch down, she picture Trace somewhere in the drawing. Why was he the center of her inspiration? It was startling to her, but at the same time she was amazed that one thing was giving her so much to draw.

Turning her gaze back up at Trace, the female smiled softly as she took in his question, "I'd love to," she answered with the smile still etched onto her lips. She had never imagined that she would have been asked out on a date, but it was definitely a nice feeling and she was already looking forward to it.

He grinned more at her acceptance as Aura walked alongside between them, Slowly though Traces hand encased Shay's, holding it lovingly as they walked, the air waving their hair and their coats dangled in the breeze. He smiled at her as they walked on, glad to have a girl finally accept his date proposal. He didn't ask alot but always at the inopportune times. He wanted a good start with her, she was attractive, charming and talented and he was glad he got the chance to bring this to a new light.

Thoughts passed through Shay's mind as she wondered about their date, not having been on many and not many that she actually chose herself. Her mother was very demanding of her, wanting her to partake in the business, wanting her to find a successful man, and wanting her to marry and have children. Shay figured she would do that all in her own time, but her mother had set her up on a few different dates, all usually ending quite horribly. Not many of them found Shay's love for art interesting, or finding that it could provide for a family.

With this date though, Shay was excited about it, thinking that it will go nicely seeing as they were already getting along so well. When Trace's hand moved over hers', Shay smiled warmly as she held his hand, looking up at him before looking back around at the scenery. Images already flashed in her head of sketches she would be working on at a later time.

He looked at her wandering gaze and smirked, knowing her gears were turning for her next piece, one he couldn't wait to see as he held her hand, Aura prancing about as the chilly air blew at her face. Trace beamed more as Aura walked beside Shay, closer to her leg and trying to nuzzle in for a pet. The pup warmed up to her after knowing her master had the feelings for her. Then Trace had an idea
"..You have a spare sketchbook right? How about you draw Aura real quick, she seems really excited."

Hearing Trace's question about sketching a picture of Aura, the woman turned her attention back onto the man as she contemplated his request. She did have a sketchbook, but it was the one that held the drawings of Trace in it. Chewing on her lower lip for a few minutes, Shay finally nodded her head as she fumbled with the bag at her side. She was trying to figure out a way to get the sketchbook out without revealing all the sketches and drawings to the man. Grasping the binding of the book, the woman pulled it out as well as one of her pencils.

Looking up at Trace for a split second, she focused her attention back on the book as she quickly flipped it open to one of the empty pages at the back, hoping that Trace didn't see any of the sketches in it. Looking down at Aura, a little nervous inside, Shay started to sketch out the excited pup at her side.

He didn't see anything but charcoal blurs as she flipped the pages, smiling as he went to take Aura and pose, keeping her still as Shay drew. Her hands worked quick as Aura sat frozen, prudently and proudly as she awaited her photograph to be finished. Trace on the other hand just looked at Shay. smiling at the lovely artist as she worked.

Later, when she gave the signal, he walked over to take a look but got confused when she tried to take the sketchbook away quickly
"...Whats wrong? Can't I see it yet?"

Pursing her lips as she worked on the sketch, looking up every once in a while to look at Aura and Trace, she continued with the sketch as the man held the pup still. She started to smile as she worked on the sketch, knowing that she was almost finish and it was coming out lovely. With the last few swipes of her pencil, Shay finally looked up as she finished it, nodding to Trace as she pushed her pencil back into her bag. When the other came over to see the drawing, Shay got nervous and attempted to close the sketchbook, but then heard his words. Frowning lightly, she slowly nodded her head before showing the drawing to him, hoping that the other drawings stayed hidden.

He took the drawing, not bothering to look at the others before because he could tell she was a little fidgety about it, but he smiled at the detail. You could see the fur of the dog, her wet nose and her shining eyes, but he looked at her rendition of Trace and blushed. Her details of him were spot on as he looked at his face, she put work and effort in every line and sketch of his body, which made him blush more but smile
">..Wow....you got me really good."

He closed the book and handed it back to her
"I love it~"

Thankful that Trace stuck to looking at the sketch she had just done, Shay chewed on her lower lip as she watched him look at her drawing. Watching a light blush form on the man's cheeks, the female let a soft smile form on her lips as she looked down, knowing that he was noticing how much detail she had put into him. Hearing his words, she looked back up with the smile still on her lips, "Thank you." She replied rather happily as she took the book back, putting it into her bag as she looked back over at him.

He was already wlaking on, but looekd back for her to join him as he continued his walk, holding his hand back for her to grasp, wanting her close by as they walked, hand in hand, fingers laced and shoulders bumping playfully. The trees were swaying with their burnt colored leaves as Autumn was closing in, sending higher chills around, he handed her his jacket though with a smirk as she shivered more.
