After so long, Veronica wa pretty excited to be back at her boarding school. Not many kids could say that seeing as how many kids hated boarding school. But Sir Halcyon's was no ordinary boarding school and it certainly wasn't for ordinary teenagers like herself. No, this was a school for elementals. For those that had control over magic and used it to perfect control over one of the four elements. This was a school that she was meant to belong in despite her normal lineage.

It was something usually frowned upon at the school and since she was a kid she got bullied for it. Naturally, that never stopped her from being the best when it came to Earth magic and anyone that tried to mess with her usually ended up with roots in between their teeth. It wasn't a pretty sight either to watch them have weeds coming out of their noses. Yes, Veronica mastered her elements quite well, even if she had loads more to perfect, especially since often, her magic reflected her emotions.

The colourful haired firl decided that she had loads of time to work on it. For now, since she was back, she was excited to be meeting all her old friends and even looking forward to making new ones of her own. Being here certainly beat being at home with her drunken foster father and having to stay there without her foster brother around since he was the one working to feed the family. Besides, home reminded her too much of her ex boyfriend. The normal one that had... Well, she didn't want to get into detail about it and any time the thought of him came, she shut it out and tried to focus on what she was doing, which was her magic. Anyone that tried anything like that on her now would pay for it sevenfold.

With a skip in her step, the vibrant female made her way to the auditorium where some orientation was supposed to take place. The area was full of students already, juniors and seniors alike, and so she meandered through the crowd, wondering who she'd meet and make friends with on her first day back for a new year.

ANDERS

Anders couldn't have been more happy to be back at Sir Halsyon's. He had reached much earlier than most of the other students, in fact. It had only been because he had fought with his dad yet again. No surprise then. Ever since he had chosen to specialise in Air magic, his father had looked at him like he was a disgrace, even if he was the smartest one in the family. Whenever he fought with someone, he had a tendency to run away. It wasn't a good habit but it was called a habit for a reason. He couldn't shale it and so he had come to school a couple of hours earlier than he was supposed to.

His older sister was meant to drop him off - she was the only one in the family that was close to accepting of his choice. His older brother was too devoted to their father and his money to make have a different mind set. But because of the fight, Anders hadn't said goodbye to anyone. His babs had been packed the previous night, so he just grabbed them and took the train without a word. His family wouldn't be worried. They would know where he went. There wasn't anywhere else to go after all.

He had spent the morning arranging his room, wondering who his new roommate would be. The previous uear it had been a water wielder and he had befriended him quite fast. He was hoping that he would get the same roommate again, if not someone just as fun to hang out with. Anders was a little hard toget along with at first but once he got close to someone, he could ope up and be a complete dork that seemed to be quite untameable.

For now though, seeing as it was the first day back and he had finished unpacking, he wanted to go to the orientation and see all the freshers, as well as all of his old classmates and if any new ones had joined. Sir Halcyon's was always full of life but Anders always found himself with a book in his hand, just in case he found nobody familiar. He could just sit down and read The Iliad by himself on a bench. Before he would resort to that though, he had to make an effort, so as soon as he stepped into the auditorium full of students, he looked around and started to make small talk here and there with anyone that seemed familiar.

Another year at Sir Halycon's equaled another year of fun.

Calder considered himself one of the luckiest human beings alive to be able to attend the magical school. Naturally, most students hated having to go school yet alone a boarding school but he was sure no one was disappointed with going to Sir Halycon's. How could they when there was always something new and fascinating each day to learn and experience. It was a wonderland to Calder Harrison.

To be honest, he probably would have been almost as happy if he had been sent to a normal school for normal people. From the get go he had been homeschooled and though it wasn't bad at all his parents had deprived him if many things making the whole thing dreadful. So, the wonderful magic boarding school he had been sent to was a haven.

He had traveled to the school with his two younger sisters who had chatted it up nearly the entire way there about their element. Fire. Everyone in the Harrison family chose fire, it was their kin. Not Calder, however. Normally it would have caused a huge dispute bit he had always been the black sheep of the family, the outcast and therefore no one really cared that much, or at all, for home.

The bleached blonde walked down the row of seats, looking to find an empty one to sit in. And as he did so, he spotted a friend, Anders. Unfortunately, the only free seat next to him was taken before his eyes by a brunette chick that was obviously from a fire user. So, he took the seat in front of the wind user which happened to be next to a gorgeous girl whom he was quite familiar with.

It was impossible to mistake that colorful hair. Veronica.

"And so, we meet again."
Cal smiled charmingly, a smile that would make all female kind swoon.

Kenny squeezed passed the gathering students in the auditorium in a rush.

Most of the students were laughing and talking amongst each other. It had been some time since they had last seen each other, especially so if they were from other parts of the world. So they'd obviously be catching up with one another, no doubt.

All except for Kenny.

Sure, she had made some acquaintances in the time that she had spent in the boarding school but not friends. Honestly, she really didn't see the necessity in it. She had been surviving just fine on her own without being surrounded by people. So she ignored the funny looks of pity she had often received when anyone caught her alone.

Still, she was happy to be back at school and she knew her parents were too. They didn't know of the magic properties that the school held nor did they their own daughter. She knew for a fact they were just happy to have her out of the house. And that didn't upset her in the least, the feeling was mutual.

Kenny pushed passed some tall blonde guy and sat in the first available seat she saw. Which happened to be next to some guy reading a book. Normally she would have sat somewhere further away from people, but the auditorium was starting to fill up.

Her eyes wandered over to the book he held in hand. She liked reading and she was starting to feel disappointed she hadn't brought a book of her own.

"The Iliad." She mumbled the title after seeing it.

Veronica turned slightly when she felt the empty seat beside her become uoccupied and she smirked slightly at who she saw sitting there. The bleached blond god, he was referred to by many. Naturally, it was hard for a lot of girls her age, younger or older, to stay unfazed by his charm. Veronica was one of the few that actually was. She had seen such charm before, on her first boyfriend. That had been nice while it lasted. It had been nice before it turned into something else that she tried every day to forget.

She knew that Calder wasn't like that though. Nobody she had met so far had come even close to being like her ex boyfriend Lucas. Besides, Calder was almost like a friend now. He wouldn't have sat next to her otherwise since there were plenty of other seats in the room. He was almost three years her senior so she was still trying to recall how they met. Probably through duelling practise or something. She couldn't remember but she was glad to have met him because he was pretty cool. She suppoed that came with the element.

"So we do," she replied with a slight smile as he turned her way. She crossed one leg over the other and shifted slightly in her seat to get a better look at him. "I see that smile is as charming as ever. Too bad you could never really use it on me to make a difference," she told him in a teasing tome and began to fiddle with one of the rings around her index finger. "How was your summer?"
ANDERS

Anders was tapping his book against his knee restlessly. That was just a habit with him, he couldn't sit still. He had hardly noticed someone took the seat beside hi till he heard the voice that came with it. He turned in his seat -- now noticing Calder too, sitting right in front of him. He smirked. As usual he s chatting up a girl. Anders wasn't so surprised. He just smiled to himself and then turned to face the girl that had sat down beside him.

He knew he had seen her around before but not much. He had never spoken to her until now. He had a feeling it was because she preferred it that way. It even looked that way no, with the way she was seated. He was generally pretty good at reading people. He looked down at the book in his hand when she read out the title. "Yeah, it's pretty great if you love Greek Mythology," he told her with a smile, lifting his gaze back up to meet her bright one.

"I'm kind of a Greek Mythology nerd," he added with a slight chuckle befofe handing over the book in case she wanted to take a look at it to see if it interested her. "I don't think we've met before," he piped up after a short pause because he didn't want to be rude or anything. She was a year or two younger than him, it seemed like, but that was never an issue when making friends. A lot of them had shared classes with the seniors for certain magic types.

"I'm Anders. But you can call me Andy," he told her with a kind smile before waiting patiently for her to address herself.

"Ah, after hurting my pride you continue on as if nothing had happened. That's so you," Calder chuckled softly. She was right, though. Out of every female in the school, he had used his enchanting smile on she was the only one who resisted. He didn't mind it at all. In fact, Calder found it fun.

Veronica was wonderful company. A beautiful girl who had a mild temper, at least, when someone was messing with nature. If anything harmful was happening to the element around them, then she was scary as hell. Otherwise, she was nice.

"My summer was nice, I suppose."
That was code word for boring and uneventful. Nothing interesting ever seemed to happen at the Harrison manor, another reason he preferred the school. He hadn't any real friends outside of Sir Halycon's.

"What about you, Princess? How was your summer?" He propped his elbow up on the arm of his chair and laid his chin in his palm. "Did you do anything fun?"

"Kennett," Kenny said. It was proper manners to introduce one's self after someone did so too, at least, that was she had seen. Her social skills were lacking tremendously but it wasn't showing now, no, when she only just started talking. There was no frown or smile, she kept her voice level and neutral.

It was strange to her that he had just given her the book to read. What for? She hadn't asked for it. Still, she was rather curious about the story now that he gave her the gist of it. She loved reading and she loved fiction especially. Greek stores were always welcomed too, after ll, she was quite a fan of Percy Jackson and even the real stories.

"Andy, huh? Then you can call me Kenny. I prefer Kenny." She told him, nodding her head slightly and opening the book to have a look inside. "Thanks for this ... I guess."

"I like Greek Mythology too. " It was a fact and that's how she said. "Hades is my favorite, yes, and I know how ironic that is considering my element is fire."

Veronica chuckled a little. "I doubt I hurt your pride that much if you're still willing to sit next to me," she told him with a slight smirk, shofting slightly in her seat so she could see him better. She had to keep her voice down since someone had come up on the stage and began to talk about the new semester and the crowd had gone quiet.

"Nice? Doesn't sound like you had as much fun as you'd hoped," she noticed, running a hand through her colourful hair before putting it up in a bun. Even then, a few strands stuck out here and there. "Well, I can't say mine was much fun either but I didn't expect that to change," she said with a humourless chuckle, not really going into detail. She was never really open about her home life or anything about her beyond the walls of school.

"Anyway, being here is better. At least over here you have a ton of girlw to fawn over you, right?" She grinned at him and pointed a finger to the space between his head and his ear where she caused a white lily ro bloom.
ANDERS

Anders chuckled lightly and nodded as se corrected herself and asked him to call her by his nickname. "Alright, Kenny it is," he said with a slight nod. He liked that. Made him feel as if she was okay with him talking to her some more if she preferred him calling her by her nickname.

"Hades is pretty cool," he replied with a small smile and shook his head slightly. "But not that ironic considering he isn't really the God of fire," he added with his head cocked to the side slightly. "I think Hepheastus is more on the fire side," he explained.

He had a tendency to correct people but that was just because of his eidetic memory. He was really hoping that she wouldn't hate him for it. There were very few people that let it go and weren't that annoyed by it. He was making a new friend so he didn't want this to be the reason she was driven away.

"You make it sound as if enjoy having girls be wooed by my very existent." Calder scoffed, lowering his voice as well when the speech started. He sighed heavily as if she didn't understand the hardships that he went through with being a heartache to almost all of the female kind in school. "It's hard a knock life for me."

He nudged her with his elbow gently and playfully.
"I know a pretty girl like ou must have a hard time with all the guys falling at your feet." He winked and sat straight in his seat so it appeared that he was listening to the speaker. Really, he was doing everything but.

He was enjoying himself as he always had when playing around with the earth girl. He plucked the flower from behind his ears and inhaled it's fragrant slowly.
"I know you're really wooing me right now. I may just fall and never get back up."

"I know," Kenny's voice dropped to a low whisper. "I was thinking of Disney's Hades, with his fiery hair and so..."

Admittedly, she loved Disney. She loved cartoons and kid shows in general and she watched them whenever she could. Of course, never at home, she was forbidden to touch the television for it was her father's. That didn't stop her from using anyway when he was gone.

She tapped her lower lip gently, "Who's your favorite?" She asked, raising an eyebrow at the boy at her side. She was well aware that she probably should have been paying attention to the speech, but she had a one tracked mind. Part of that was thanks to her illness.

Still, it was one of those rare moments that she didn't mind talking to a stranger.

VERONICA

"Oh yes, very hard to even move with all of them at my feet," she explained with a tone that dripped sarcasm. "When reality strikes though, I have fun walking all over them," she added as she watched him take the flower from behind his ear to inhale it's scent. She enjoyed doing that to people he knew or people she met. She had to be careful though because she never knew when such people had allergies and that had happened once before. It hadn't been pretty.

"Ah, so you caught on pretty quick to my plan, hmm?" She raised an eyebrow and chuckled slightly. "Please, Cal, I doubt there's much that woos you. Standards are pretty high, aren't they?" She asked, mildly curious and also mildly amused. She enjoyed the wity banter they had from time to time. It was highly entertaining.

"If you fall though, I'll make sure to keep whatever I did in mind. It might come handy every now and then," she said after a short pause, turning her gaze to the front when one of the etachers from a few rows over turned to see if anyone was talking.
ANDERS

Anders was just glad she hadn't told him off. He knew a lot of people might have because not a lot of people enjoyed being corrected constantly and being friends with him usually called for that at least five times a day. Still, Kennett seemed to know her stuff, and that made it more interesting to talk to her.

"Yeah, Disney's Hades is pretty great," he agreed with a slight chuckle before gaining a more seeious expression when she asked who his favourite was. It wasn't really seeious but more... Contorted in thought because this was a big question according to him. People had issues with questions like who their favourite pet was an for him it was with Greek Gods.

"Well I can't realy give you a straight answer but for the moment, my favourite would probably be the twins, Phobos and Deimos. They represent fear and terror respectively. That's where the word phobia comes from, in fact," he realised he was getting too technical and carried away like he tended to do sometimes so he tried to laugh to shake it off. "Sounds pretty... Dark, but they're actually pretty cool."

Cal chuckled softly, twirling the flower in his hand gently. His eyes wandered away from the beauty of the plant and folowed her line of sight to the teachers below. When he met eyes with one he only smiled. It was no seceret that he often tried to charm his pants off with authority to excape work or trouble.

Needless to say, it worked only worked a third of the time. Still, he had recieved most of thier favors because he was, in fact, a strangely loveable , well-behaved and smart student. So, the teacher below was still suspicious but moved on expecting him to quiet down.

"You could ask if you ever need a favor from me, I'd drop everything and help you immediatly." He assured with a nod, leaning back on his seat, relaxed.

"Dark ... maybe," Kenny answered throughtfully, brushing her fingers against the paper corners of the book. She loved the feel of hardcovered books, paper and enjoyed the small of ink as well as old books. It left her in peace and maybe that was why she didn't mind talking to this stranger too much.

Because she had a book in her hand.

Though, he also had the some of the same interest as her. Conversing with a person about something that caught her attention was rare. Almost as rare as talking to a person just because she wanted to.
"If I'm not mistaken, the two moons of Mars were named after them too."

VERONICA

Veronica lifted an eyebrow and glanced over at him once she had hewrd his words. "Is that so?" She asked, her expression giving away that she was mildly amused and also slightly curios. What had she done to earn that from him?

"Why is that?" She asked, deciding to be entertained by his answer since the lecture going on wnd the announcements hardly interested her. The boy beside her had always been interesting and that hadn't changed even now.

"I'm calling in my favour then because I need company till lunch," she added after a short pause, chuckling slightly. If she had it, she was going to take advantage of it. She knew he was probably thinking of different favours but this was what she was going with.
ANDERS

Anders looked over at Kenny as she confirmed whether the two gods he had mentioned were Mars moons and he nodded.

"It's actually pretty cool," he said with a grin. "All the planets are roman counterparts of Greek Gods and most of their moons are named in accordance to the myths," he explained, before fearing that he was getting too much into detail again.

"Mythology of all kidns fascinates me, to be honest," he added after a short pause befor noticing that the announcements were almost done with, which meant they were free till lunch. Part of him wondered what she would say if he asked her to hang out with him until then. She seemed like a nice person to know more about.

C A L D E R
"Why? Don't be silly," Cal smirked charmingly, his signature smirk with that occasional hint of mischevious and playfulness. One of his many looks that either got him in trouble with authority or had the female kind captured. Of course, it didn't work on his dear friend Veronica.

He shrugged a shoulder and placed his flower in his front blazer pocket for show.
"Because I like you. What other reason would I need." He said this flirtatiously but was every bit serious. He did like Veronica, he even considered her a friend and he wanted to get closer to the earth wielder. "It also helps that you're a very beautiful girl." One of his many weaknesses.

The staff was just about done speaking and students had begun leaving their seats. Groups were reforming and soon the entire area was full of chatter and laughter again. It was music to his ears. He smiled at Veronica once more and turned in his seat to face Anders behind him.

"Hey, man." He greeted him cordially before noticing the girl beside him and winked her way.

"And folklore, anything that has a story is always something that catches my interest. It also helps that its fiction." Kenny's smile grew. Fairy tales were also something that caught her attention immensely. And when she said fairy tales, she meant actual fairy tales and not the Disney retold and warped stories, she loved Disney but Brother's Grimm and Charles Perrault tales were so much more interesting.

She watched as boys and girls rose from their seats one after another.
"I like things, unlike reality." It was an escape, she had enough of real life as it was. And she could find that great new world in story books, classics and older tales alike, stories of all kinds.

"I think ..." She trailed off when the boy just ahead of them turned around in his seat, facing them - Anders. He looked like the type of guy who was always having a good time, the one which people liked. In short, he appeared to be the opposite of her.

And when he winked her way she blinked unsure how to respond or if she should respond at all.

VERONICA

Veronica smirked slightly and just shook her head a little at his explanation. She knew he probably said that to a lot of girls, though she did feel different from those he tried to pick up because she considered him a friend.

As students began to mill about and mingle around, she turned as well, watching as Calder conversed with his friend. She had seen the two together a couple of times, so she waved as well, being acquainted with him like she was with Calder. "Hey," she said with a smile before looking at the girl beside him that he seemed to be talking to.

"Hi," she said to her with a smile. "I'm Ronnie," she went ahead and introduced herself, being the very social person that she was. That, and she loved to talk, especially to new people.
ANDERS

Anders focused his attention on the male in front of him with almost white-blond hair. He knew him right away but he had almost forgotten that his friend was sitting in front of him because he had been occupied by talking to the girl beside him.

When the vibrant haired girl beside Calder turned, he recognised her because not many people had hair like that. He smiled in return and nodded, giving her a wave and saying a greeting to the both of them. He was about to say something cheeky to Anders about his next target when he noticed Ronnie making conversation with Kenny.

"This is Kenny," he said with a smile to her before realising he had just taken her opportunity to speak. A habit of his. "Sorry," he told her with a slightly sheepish smile.

C A L D E R
"And I'm Calder," Cal smiled, or more like smirked at the pretty brunette sitting beside his friend, Anders. He found no problem butting in the conversation without any thought. Why would he? He was there and he wanted to speak with the familiar and gorgeous stranger.

Besides, he was Calder. He naturally attracted people to his side and it really would be no different with her he guessed. Then again, Veronica had proved him wrong on many occasions than just one. It was a mystery to him, he was used to getting everything he wanted half of the time.

"My friends call me Cal, but you can call me whatever you like." He crossed his arms over the back of the chair, leaning forward and smiling pleasantly.

K E N N Y
Kenny fidgeted slightly in her seat but she made sure it was a discreet movement of discomfort. In just a moment she was talking three - not one - but three people. She was not a people person in the east. The only reason she was comfortable talking to Anders because it was one person and they weren't talking about themselves in particular but a common interest.

Ronnie? She thought she had seen her before, they were in the same grade if she wasn't mistaken. And she seemed nice from what she could tell. But "seem" was the key word here. And she was totally at lost for the Calder or Cal or whatever.

She remained quiet for a moment and wondered if she could walk away, but she wouldn't be able to do that fast enough with so many students blocking the way. So, she was stuck
.

"I'll just call you Calder."
Kenny rubbed the side of her arm absently. "What elements are you guys?" She asked only just now realizing that she didn't even know Anders either.

Veronica rolled her eyes at Calder'd words. "Really, Cal?" She said and turned slightly to look at him. "With every girl?" It was a teasing comment because she knew him enough to be able to tease a little. But then again, she was pretty outspoken so she probably would have said the same no matter who it was sitting beside her.

She turned back to Kenny and could read her features. She figured she didn't talk to people a lot. If she had, then Ronnie would have definitely known her more because she talked to most people. As she asked what element they were and as per usual, she had to show instead of tell. Well, she did both.

"Earth," she responded with a grin, reaching out but not touching her, instead sprouting a small lily behind her ear. "Calder here is water," she added, nodding to te light haired male beside her.
ANDERS

Anders chuckled as his friend attempted to smooth talk yet another girl but somehow he doubted any of his tricks would work on Kenny beyond maybe making her blush. It seemed she was the second one this was happening to as the pretty, colourful haired girl beside him had long ago been the one to not fall for him.

As Ronnie called Calder out, his chuckles continued and he had to take a breath before he finally introduced his own element. "Oh! Right, we, never talked about that. I'm Air," he said with a slight smile as he looked at Kenny once Ronnie was done talking.

Then he glanced around and saw the room slowly emptying as people headed to their dorms or lunch and quite frankly, Anders was starving. "Hey," he talked to the group, but mostly Cal because he didn't know if the girls had other places to be. "Wanna grab lunch? I'm hungry."

C A L D E R
"Don't be jealous, Ronnie," Cal teased her back, chuckling softly himself at her comment. It was no surprise she called him out, it wouldn't be the first. And he found it qute refreshing rather than embarassing, she was one of the few people that did ever peak truthful qualities about him that may have been less charming.

He smiled pleasantly at Anders inquiey and nodded his head in agreement,
"I'm famished, I don't think I even ate breakfast." The platinum blonde rose from his seat, prepared to head out the cafeteria. He wondered what they'd be serving.

The food at Halycon was of a wiide selection and varitety. Of course that was to be expected, there were a ton of people from different corners of the earth that attended the school. Another one of the many reasons he loved the place. It was full of wonders and wonderful things.

"Will you ladies be joining us?" He asked, "We wouldn't mind the extra company."

K E N N Y
Kenny carefully plucked the lily from her ear, fascinated with Veronica's little magic tricks. She would belying if she said she didn't like flowers. The fire girl wasn't the girliest girl but flowers were one of the few girly things she loved. Their appearance and fragrance and how they blossomed. Beautiful.

Some part of her wished she specielized in earth magic rather than fire. They were almost they exact opposites. While earth created life, fire destroyed it. However, you don't get to pick what your magic is and she didn't hate her magic at all. So, that was that.

She stopped to listen to the boys mentioning lunch.
"Neither have I ..." She mumbled after the water weilder saying soemthing about missing breakfast. Since she was heading to the cafeteria anyway it would be sort of awkward to walk away from them.

Besides, they didn't seem so bad from what she could, right now.

"I'll join you."
