When the two had arrived at the fuel depot it seemed like the Major was already there waiting just as the leader of the squad expected. Yuume just saw the man as he was making his way to the roof. When he had reached the top, she turned around to see if any enemies were planning on stopping them. Something was not right. They were playing too passively, sure, and that was exactly what felt completely weird. Vampires were violent by nature. They were far too proud to let themselves be held back by a group of "livestock". In other words, they were clearly planning something big and Yuume definitely didn't like the way things were going. Her knowledge on how to fight these things was limited, but it seemed like her partner was having her ease. For now.

Suddenly, a loud noise could be heard, the noise of explosions out loud. Yuume turned back to see hundreds of missiles making their way to the base. Her eyes lightly widened in what seemed to be surprise or confusion, but it was likely neither of those. Yuume now understood what was going on. When she turned back to support the Major, there were dozens of the bloodsuckers jumping out of the sewers. One of the vampires attempted a surprise attack at Yuume, but her quick reactions allowed her to stab him right through the neck before slicing his head off right after avoiding the attack. It seemed like she wasn't wrong, the vampires were up to something... They were just waiting. Right now, things didn't look too advantageous to the humans and Yuume knew that very well. However, they still had a big chance of throwing the fight to their favor if they won here. Not that it was going to be easy, though, as over ten vampires made their way to stand in front of her and her partner. Yuume turned to look to her partner, to make sure that the two would fight as a team, but the girl suddenly dashed forward on her own and left Yuume behind without second thought.

Yuume took a brief look around the see most of the airport in flames, but to her surprise, as she attempted to make a dash to aid her friend, four vampires blocked the way. Not even her big nodachi would be able to clear them out so easily, as they were spread too far for her to attack so widely. Even if she did, it would make her wide open to next attacks by the other vampires. It wasn't like they were going to just stand still while she killed their friends. Yuume prepared to fight off her enemies.

Two of them took a dash from both sides of her. One of them went for a stab while the other made a long-winded horizontal slash. Yuume lightly lowered her head and most of her upper body before slashing right across them. She knew that this would have a price, though. She was able to hit both of them with that slash, but the other two attacked her from behind in a show of strategy. Yuume placed her hands on the ground and rotated her body, slashing at their feet. She avoided most of the damage, but her torso was still attacked from almost all sides, resulting in some pretty bad injuries. While she still could, she kicked two of them away and then stood on her feet, defending against two follow-up attacks from the vampires in front of her. She sliced the right leg of one of them and then used the attack of his partner to dash towards him and stab his neck, effectively killing him. However, even though she had just killed them, there were still three of them and another one coming around. All the while, there were other seven enemies going for her partner. To top it off, Yuume was injured and likely wouldn't fight as she was supposed to. It was highly likely that the girl had just ruined their opportunity to fight them effectively. Yuume clicked her tongue. Just because she didn't feel any anger didn't mean she would condone the girl's actions. Much for the opposite, in fact, Yuume understood the need of teamwork. She would have to pray that her partner would be as lucky as she was before, after all, the vampires were much more organized and intelligent right now. They were clearly being led by someone in the shadows, though, or at least that's how Yuume felt.

While that, the seven vampires that weren't worried with Yuume piled up on Kona and from here on forward, her fight would clearly be a lot tougher than any other she had before. If she didn't receive any assist from the Major, the result would be a very difficult fight for the woman, no matter how powerful she was. After all, numbers counted much more in battles such as these. As if that was not enough, the sniper would be quite busy on her own, as vampires started pouring into the airfield from seemingly everywhere. Black Hawks, high enough safe from the missile attacks, started dropping vampires as soon as the assault strike. From here onward, the battle seemed to heat up much more than Klaus intended, most likely.

Fighting. Endless fighting. With squad 2 being out in the open, many of the vampire reinforcements naturally funneled towards them. Kikazumi fell back on her training and experience - cutting down the vampires that came at her in a mechanical and industrious fashion. There was nothing impressive with how she was taking them down, save for how efficient she seemed to be at doing it. Nonetheless, Kikazumi couldn't keep it up for much longer.

It was for that reason that the arrival of off-field artillery was in part a blessing. Everyone in the immediate area disengaged temporarily - instinctively trying to find a hiding place in case a stray explosive landed near them. Kikazumi knew that out in the open, the best she could do for herself was to lay flat on the ground. The Captain fell onto her belly, and hoped for the best.

Dust and small stoned fell onto her body. But luckily for Kikazumi that was the most that hit her. As the ringing in her ears began to fade away, Kikazumi peeked upward. The first thing she registered as her hearing came back, was a bloodcurdling scream.

"HUAAAAGH!"

A vampire was struck down by a the lethal end of a water pipe, blasted out of the ground by one of the explosions. But within an instant, Kikazumi registered Major Sugihara also laying nearby.

"Major!"

Was he also taken out by the pipe?

The dust was irritating her eyes as she came up on her squad leader. He wasn't responding, but he didn't appear to be dead either. Kikazumi turned him over to check him for any other wounding. She did not find anything, save for a tell-tale bump. Presumably the one that knocked him out.

The squad captain was alive. But Sugihara was the one leading the operation. It was still possible to proceed forward, albeit, with a certain measure of uncertainty. Who knew if there was supposed be an extra step that came after 'securing the airfield'? Without Sugihara, the way that was supposed happen (supposedly) would be unknown.

Kikazumi gasped, feeling the weight of a foot striking her at the side.

Her small body rolled across the ground. She was struck with a hit so fierce, that it send her Sword Clattering off, away from her reach.

Pushing herself up off the ground, Kikazumi saw her only weapon far from reach. Closer, was a lone vampire, gloating over her success.

"Heh, no so tough without your sword you scum! I'll be a hero for ridding the world of the likes of you!"

Kikazumi had now way of taking on a vampire with just her bare fists. Her sole instrument of doing such a thing was out of reach. Retreating wasn't much of an option either, she wasn't going to abandon her superior officer in cowardice. Not like it would've mattered anyway - unarmed, she would likely run into even more vampires even if she ran.

"Actually - I should just take you prisoner. We'll make sure you pay back the blood you spilled of our comrades a thousand times over. You'll be wishing for death!" The lone vampire continued to approach.

For Kikazumi, there was only one real option at this point.

She put her hand into her jacket, and let her index finger coil around the pin of the last ditch grenade she had reserved for this sort of occasion.

"A gun isn't going to help you at this range!"

The Lone vampire continued to approach. Though he confidently derided Kikazumi for her apparent last ditch firearm, he nonetheless approached with a little more hesitation.

Just a couple of more steps. A couple of more steps and he'd be close enough to be wiped out along with Kikazumi once the grenade went off. It would hopefully by more time for the knocked out squad captain to wake up.

"Yeah, don't worry 'bout me. Go, go. Shoo. "

Literally waving the two girls off dismissively, Yoshio rested the blade on his shoulder and watched them run over towards the depot. They were together, so they'd probably be fine. He needed to worry about himself for now, and the princess in the tower, of course. As he was thinking that, he noted one of the bloodsuckers passing him by and running after the two. Yoshio of course, since he did plan to cover them, get the vampire's attention, but not in a way that you'd have thought. He looked down at the chain coming from the bottom of the hilt, then back at the white-clad dandy. The boy got a bit of an idea, though those were rarely good. If he could learn to swing the blade by the chain, he could increase his range. Starting from behind, Yoshio grabbed the chain and swung it around 180 degrees clockwise, allowing the chain to materialize and lengthen further as it went around. Unfortunately, while it did slam into the vampire's back, the flat, side of the sword was the part that made contact. Both he and the bloodsucker were rather agitated with this, Yoshio as he'd need to seriously practice to do more than aggravate any enemy, and the vampire because the force managed to make him faceplant onto the cement.

"ARE YOU MAKING FUN OF ME, LIVESTOCK?!"

"Huh... Well, that's gonna take a while to get the hang of..."

"DON'T IGNORE ME!"

After Yoshio yanked the chain back and the vampire charged, he too found Yoshio's strength overpowering and was rather quickly crushed under the might of his blade. There were several other vampires that appeared as he waited to his Sergeant to come out of the building. No nobles, however as Yuume had feared. If what Rin had said to him was true, nobles didn't come around too often; they typically only bothered with humans that proved a nuisance. Regardless they were apparently pretty powerful. Hopefully those two hadn't ran into one.

But then, Yoshio began hearing a loud sound coming from deeper in the complex. Rather, it was a combination of many of the same loud sounds. It was like something was launch-Oh...

Looking up at the sky, or trying to see the sky, Yoshio noted the mass amounts of missiles blocking it. Even his almost-permanent deadpan was shaken as he adopted a look of shock with his eyes widened. They had missiles? Vampires used missiles!? There was no way they'd survive, short of being lucky as hell, out in the open like they were. The hangers were the only things on the base hardened enough to act as cover.

Thankfully, Yoshio didn't have to ponder of whether to go in, grab the Sergeant and make a run for a hanger. In the distance, there seemed to be some kind of eerie flash or glow before tons of flashes enveloped it. Someone was shooting down the missiles? How? It had to be some kind of ability these Black Demon Series weapons had. It was doubtful that he'd get all of them, but at least it was more relaxing knowing everything wasn't getting blown up. Looking down at his weapon, Yoshio seemed to form a pout.

"Why the fuck can't you do something like that?"

"I'm a sword, you little shit."

"Well, can you do anything?"

"Rocket."

"You can shoot a rocket? How does that make any more sense?"

"No. Rocket."

"That doesn't hel-Oh..."

Turning around with an agitated sigh at his weapon's difficulty, Yoshio noticed that, as fate would have it, he was correct in assuming Kenza would be unable to take care of all the missiles. Unfortunately, one was also coming right for him, or the tower the princess was in, at least.

"Shit...! Yazumi!"

With it crashing into the building, Yoshio gritted his teeth in frustration and began running over to it while muttering out several profanities. Even if Yoshio sometimes seemed like he didn't care, he actually did, perhaps a bit too much. After all, he was currently running over to a blazing, soon-to-be-collapsing building.

Thankfully, he wasn't too late as he didn't even have to call out to her. She was already on the ground floor, but unfortunately surrounded by bloodsuckers. Grabbing his hilt and aiming it over his shoulder like a javelin, Yoshio chucked it forward, successfully impaling one of the two that entered last, effectively gaining his partner's attention, but it was too little too late. Yanking the blade back by the chain and dashing forward, Yoshio jumped, planted himself firmly on his impaled adversary and used him as a mock launch pad, shoving the poor sod off his blade and into the ground while launching himself into the air. Yanking the cleaver forward and over his head, Yoshio regained his grip on the hilt and slammed the blade down through the second vampire, currently looking stupefied at him. Thankfully, with the building ruined and some parts already deteriorated or collapsed, Yoshio actually had room for his weapon. He still wondered why she wanted the guy with the biggest weapon to help her in case she got trapped indoors...

"Hurry up! We need to move!" He shouted at her, then turning around finish off the vampire he had previously impaled. Apparently, that wasn't enough to completely kill this one off.

(Forgive this post being so short, but I'm getting bored of this rp honestly, and please no one get the bright idea to add MORE vampires...)

With this turn of events, Kenzo isn't sure who to save, actually it was unlikely he could save either..least not directly. His power was fire support afterall..

"..." Sighing a bit, and aiming all six guns in a frontal arc, each seems to be adjusted to aim slightly towards a varrying area, he could not keep this up long. Demonic aide wasn't endless, his own team would have to pull together, he wondered in part what the sniper was doing..nevermind the rest of team two.. Turning his guns onto the approaching horde, the hanguns boom repeatidly, as fire criss-crosses the battlefield. The demon within seems to mutter more of his typical lines which in response Kenzo sighs. "..you do know this gun you are in was made about three years..actually more, past your masters time?"

Ignoring his rebuttal, the officer fires, first attempting to break the encirlement around the quiet girl, then around the crazy one, plus a general sweep of the whole area. All in all it was the tactic of supressive fire, it would slow down, pin, and kill a number of the vampires, it was odd no very powerful ones were here..though it was likely part of a test, or observation more likely, of them all, to what ends, the Major could not say. Reflecting on the tactical situation, it was chaos. Pausing a bit to reflect on it..why didn't the IJDA have headsets or hand radios..no nukes launched, all electronics were useable..even the vampires rarely used them minus a few units. He know both factions horded useable technology for pet projects or special squads. So why not theres..it would make this so much more easier. He couldn't yell a command, and even with a headset in this chaos it would not be useful. Squads were meant to operate close together, but with this large of an area..what where two groups expected to do..damn the generals to hell..

Waving his gun like an old battle banner, the real gun that was, he directs the two girls, he had a feeling that sniper was doing something stupid.. firstly in a circle, then direction followed with a swift repeat. Group up, head to the front. I didn't help the one crazy girl was getting powers or rather powering ones she had not yet earn. But he didn't have time to check on her, he couldn't even keep watch of his own kills are wounds to the enemy nevermind that.

Yazumi exhales a bit in thanks as her reinforcements arrive, it would make sense why she asked for him, dealing with her own two opponets in a reverse deflection and slicing with her Katana, she exhales a bit, enjoying the quick breather. "Okay lets head out for the open, we'll try and get the stragglers attention, and head for the front gate, most of team two should be there, and it lets Father have a clear shot. Ehehe..hmm I think I'll pay you back for this when I have the chance..maybe.." Smiling at the words, her eyes however seem as lifeless as ever, but now was the time for action, as the pair leave the tower.

Kona
The world around Kona suddenly erupted in gunfire, bullets wizzing into the vampire crowd surpressively, killing a few, and making more then enough of the others think better about charging across open ground with the guns firing at them. Instead, they started taking cover, moving across the airfield using whatever they could. Kona in the meantime turned around, and saw that her comrade was in danger. Everything seemed to slow down in that moment.

If you do not save her, she will likely die. Which is more important? Your revenge, or your comrade?

It was a pathetic attempt by the demon weapon to manipulate her, and one Kona ignored, at least consciously. Deep down she hesitated, considered leaving the girl to die. And slowly, the thin crack's of light sucking color moved outwards, and now several black lines could clearly be made out stretching over the sides of her head. She was about to charge forward, to assist her comrade, but this had left her back exposed, and a vampire quickly took advantage of this, taking the sword it wielded and using it to cut her back from her right shoulder to left hip, barely skipping over her spine and then hitting the other side of her flesh, and forcing her in blinding pain to her knees.

"Hah! Your not so hard to beat down when your distracted livestock!"

The blade still dripping with her blood was laid to the back of her neck.

"Unfortunately for you, this is where it ends."

"Actually - I should just take you prisoner. We'll make sure you pay back the blood you spilled of our comrades a thousand times. You'll be wishing for death!!"

Traces of hopelessness curled around the majority of the two squads that were sent for a "little rendezvous" mission. Despite the fact that one of those aforementioned squads is "the best of the best" in a nutshell amongst the vampire slayers, reality strikes back at the fact that even a lone strong man couldn't possibly handle the odds of having an entire army with their weapons pointed against him.

"A gun isn't going to help you at this range!"

As the lone vampire slowly but surely approached the defenseless captain and the unconscious Lieutenant Colonel, Kikazumi turned to accept her fate. But she wouldn't go down without a fight. Coiling her finger around the last-ditch grenade that was in her coat, the bloodsucker was just three-- no, two steps away from their position.

Suddenly, a small portal appeared beside the vampire and a familiar-looking weapon phased out of it, pointing at the man's head.

*BANG*

It happened so quickly the vampire had no time to react. Leaving a massive hole on his head, the vampire dissipated into nothingness as the Major came from behind Kikazumi's back. Shinra picked up the woman's prized weapon and offered it to her. The man's face had a seemingly dark and pale expression. He was silent for a moment as he put down his Cursed Gears.

"...."

Without batting an eyelash, the young blonde adjusted his glasses and spoke.

"You alright?"

As Shinra helped Kikazumi get up on her feet, he gave a glance at his unconscious superior. Before he could ask what happened, the two officers heard gunfire in another part of the airbase. It was obvious that it was Kenzo's doing, since only he and Shinra were the only people who could and would use guns.

"Shit... Things aren't looking too good for 'em, huh? Some little operation this was."

His Cursed Gears glowed a dark color, indicating that they were reloaded and ready to fire again. Major Shinra turned his back from her, slowly walking towards the sound of gunfire and battle.

"You stay here and take care of Patches. I'll go help 'em out. Oh. And..."

He ceased his footsteps as he glanced at her with a rather serious look.

"Don't you go "taking 'em down with you", ever again. You don't have to sacrifice yourself, you know? I told you... I won't let anyone die. Not today."

Shinra turned around again, and he ran towards the sound of clashing and bullets. The blonde won't let his comrades get killed off. Even at the cost of his own life. He narrowly escaped the demon's clutches of temptation because of his determination to protect them, no matter what.

Kikazumi gently took her weapon back from Shinra. In her usual fashion, she swung it in a circle back into it's sheath.

"You alright?"

Shoinra said as he offered to help Kikazumi to get back up.

"Yeah." Kikazujmi replied briefly as she stood up and dusted off her skirt.

The immediate area now had gone quiet. It seemed that, back towards the airfield buildings was where the vampires where focusing on - or where the last of them where being destroyed by the other squad.

"Shit... Things aren't looking too good for 'em, huh? Some little operation this was." Shinra lamented as he turned around, proceeding to where the remaining enemy activity on the airfield could be heard. "You stay here and take care of Patches. I'll go help 'em out. Oh. And..."

Stopping, he glanced back at her.

"Don't you go "taking 'em down with you", ever again. You don't have to sacrifice yourself, you know? I told you... I won't let anyone die. Not today."

It was hard to see the expression Kikazumi was wearing as she replied - as she was already in the process of lifting their knocked out Squad Captain to get him to safety. But, if her tone was of any sort of indication, her reply was one of bemusement.

"Okay, Shinra. That means I can let myself die next time, right?"

It was a half baked jab. Or at least, from anyone else it would've sounded like one. The problem with Kikazumi was that, when it came from her it really did seem like she meant it.

That was my chance, why did you stop me?

If Shinra thought about what happened during the last mission, maybe that would've been the message he would've got from that reply. Kikazumi wasn't expecting any real reply from him though.

Despite her size in relation to the Squad Captain's, she hoisted the captain over her shoulder as if she were carrying a goat. There was the ruin of a passenger jet nearby that she and the squad captain could hold down in until the airfield was cleared.
