He hadn't expected her to have such a burst forward, and that surprised him a little. Still, he couldn't just lose! With a determined grin, he ran after her to try and catch up with her. Ahead of them were the two Eevee, though not by much since Mikayla was only a little bit behind them. Compared to her, Trey was slow and had a lot of ground to make up. By the time they got to town, he was breathing hard from the exertion and even had to double over a little. "Wasn't expecting you to be so fast!" he exclaimed as he caught his breath and smiled. "I never was much of a runner though. Not sure why I wanted to race in the first place, but it sounded like fun!"
