The town of Storybrooke has existed for as long as its residents can remember. But that's the problem, isn't it? For its residents can't remember their lives outside of Storybrooke. It was as if one day they woke up there and their lives had been that way for what seemed like forever and things stayed like that ever since. In another land where magic is real and heroes come in all shapes and sizes, a curse was cast by the Evil Queen and the lands of the Enchanted Forest and beyond were affected. No one, be they hero or villain, royal or poor, was spared by curse. Those who couldn't escape the curse are now living in Storybrooke with no memory of who they once were.
However, as the curse's power begins to weaken, and memories long forgotten slowly start to emerge from slumbering minds, what happens to the seemingly normal lives of the citizens of Storybrooke? In their former life, were they a hero or a villain? Prince or pauper? Were they in love or utterly alone? Do they even want to find out? Especially if their life in Storybrooke has turned out for the better - maybe they fell in love, or are doing what they love or are living a simple life that is no less a happily ever after than their fairy tale ever was. If that's the case, do they really wish to remember who they once were and go back to their former life in the Enchanted Forest? Or are they eager to return to their former life and kingdoms? Perhaps there is someone they had forgotten about that they wish to be reunited with or someone back in the Enchanted Forest who was spared by the curse that is still looking for them. Maybe they want their powers back or their throne. And does the return of their memories signify something worse to come?
Why has the Evil Queen returned? Why after so long is the curse slowly broken? Is her power weakening or is this all part of her plan?
So many questions and it looks like we're about to find out the answers to all of them.
