Metro

"What are you doing?" Vladimir stopped with the group, glancing over at Alexi and then Constance, he seemed to be listening intently for something. Vald's gaze shifted over the rest of the group, they all seemed to have the same sort or seriousness in their eyes. The front of the tunnel was dark. It had always been dark, and though he'd never admit it, if it wasn't for the light that the dimming flash-lights gave them... Vlad might not have made it this far. Normally this wouldn't bother him, the dark, but It wasn't a normal darkness, nothing was normal anymore, and down here without light, the darkness consumes you.

Alexi strapped his flashlight at the end of his muzzle. He gave it a few cranks before it shone more brightly before. He stepped forward in front of Constance and shifted around in the darkness. Something wasn't right. Nothing feels familiar for him despite him having traversed these tunnels for his whole life. He took another step and another slowly as he searched the darkness.

"You stay back." Constance said
Even though the tunnel was dark he grabbed an apple from his bag and threw it down in the darkness
soon after he threw the apple he herd shuffling "I can handle this, I want to show you I am useful" Constance walked forward hastily in front of Alexi "Stay."

Suddenly from the darkness came out a mutant with freakish black eyes and quick reflexes. It crashed into Constance with a hard thump before attacking him with long claws. Alexi started flipping off the safety and shot at his head missing narrowly.

"Oh schiesse!!"
The mutant rapidly sliced his arm deep. He gripped his knife and stabbed the mutant's eye blinding it on one side. With no hesitation from the mutant it slashed his chest and let out a blood curdling cry, Constance plunged his knife into it's neck and ripped it to the side cutting it's neck wide open as blood poured out onto him.
He threw the beast off of him, stood up and yanked it's biggest teeth out from it's black and yellow gums. "Presents!" He said with a smile "Good for selling, I am now useful?"

"Sorry boy, teeth ain't that good for selling it'll probably get you a cartridge or maybe two if you're luck but you need at least twenty to buy a gun, because not all mutants are going to be alone," Alexi said walking over to the mutant kicking it over on its side looking at it "And you might want to get that blood off of you soon,"

He gave him a look "I've gotten good foods from teeth smaller den dis, you just must know where you get sem from." He looked down at his shirt and shrugged ever so carelessly "It never hurt before, but zees cuts sting. Best not to worry."
Constance started to become stubborn with these people but he did his best to be understand

"You came from the surface, the metro is much different from there, we take no value in trinkets, ammo is our currency and we eat what we can get," Alexi said shrugging him off "The reason we don't have fruit is because we are smack dab in the middle of a city that's been decimated with atomic bombs,"

"Dat's why we leave here. Where do you sink we are going?"

"You don't get it, we can't leave here, in the first moment we see sunlight we are blinded for the rest of our lives," Alexi said "So we try our best to defend the metro and make it a haven,"

"Yeah, there's no where else we can go... So it looks like you're stuck down here with us now." Vladimir shook his head, surveying the tunnel.

"Hm... well gee, can't you see in the dark? I'm sorry"

"We can see pretty well in darkness but sunlight burns out our retinas making them useless, it doesn't help that there's high levels of radiation either,"

"Well, as we mentioned earlier, we are on our way to check out VDNHk." He sighed, "I suppose If you're going to stay with us now you should know. VDNHk is a station in the most northern part of the metro, much like the one we just came from. There are others there as well, they called for help a few days back, so hopefully by the time we get there... " Vladimir trailed off, losing his thoughts. He started to think about what they'd seen at the last station. With news of all these people dying, it was hard to hold onto much hope. When they got there there might not be anything left to save.

"And what if zey are not? What will you do if zey are dead?" His voice flat

"And that's why we're trying to rush to VDNHk" Alexi explained moving forwards even faster getting ahead of the group. He moved cautiously hoping another mutant won't come out of no where because of the smell of blood. He checked every where the light could reach, and double checked the areas where it couldn't.

Constance trudged along with them merrily "Okey."

This whole situation made Vladimir's insides churn. He couldn't help glancing back every couple seconds at the corpse of the beast until it disappeared from the light as the trudged forward. "So, why aren't there more?" He thought aloud, slightly annoyed, "this doesn't seem normal, only one mutant jumped us, they usually travel in groups... so where are the others?" What if they were too late.. He couldn't let that happen again, he had to save her. Vladimir took a short breath, and fought back the growing urge he had to rush ahead of the others.

Ryan chuckled a little, partly at the myth that seeing the light of the sun made one blind, and partly due to another reason. "They aren't here. That mutant is scrawny, tiny. A runt. They are like dogs, they leave the runts to die. Stay on alert." He checked the load on his revolver before walking. While outwardly he was normal, on the inside he was thinking dark thoughts. He hadn't seen that mutant type before... What would they see when they reached the station?
