He would be gone by the time she got out, the only sign he was ever there being his jacket on the chair thrown the night before.

And in his dorm, Lucifer would be experiencing a freezing shower as his eyes stared vacantly. That was too close.

Feeling the warmth of her breath, the proximity of knowing he had but to reach out? The sight of Alice burned into his memories and he growled aloud. That was not what friends did.

He cursed his hormones and his blood, the urge to seduce and bite an overpowering desire. There was a reason he took donated only.... With a twist of the faucet, the shower ended and he went to get ready for classes.

By the time he was fixing his tie, he had wrote it off as an isolated incident. She had thought him asleep, obviously. And he had pretended thus as well. So long as he kept his cool, things should be fine.

---------

Things were not fine.

He was more on edge then he thought. What had normally been a morning of shrugging off hazing towards himself turned violent when Alices name was dragged in. And for whatever reason, Lucifer had surprised himself and others with adrupt violence.

Things quickly degenerated from there.

So for the first time, the straight-and-narrow Lucifer found himself with a suspension on his record and an order to be confined to base.

.....It was oddly exciting.

He just wished the black eye would start healing.

Alice sat at the edge of the class tinkering with Mini W for the off chance that the professor would pick her to spar. She typically did not pay attention in class as she believed she already had a general understanding about how everyone fought. It was a bad habit she never dropped, even back when she was in her home world. People were so predictable and once you attached the strings, it was so easy to make them dance. Very rarely did someone cut their strings.

However when the kids started cheering, something seemed off. It was not your typical cheers for a friend but those of a thirsty crowd around a street fight. She took a glance and saw that the the fancy pants was acting quite brutal compared to his normal "pristine fighting style". Had this been any other person she would have cheered along with her classmates. Very few people in her country fought cleaning and those who did were only doing such to insult their opponents. Here was different. She new her friend's obsession with being all "polite and a good mannered gentlemen" was nearly full proof. Like it took some extreme measures to even put a crack in that personality of his. Now it seemed completely gone.

She held on to Mini W but it was pointless. The teacher had already interfered and escorted the Dampyr out the ring (and room). Now only one question remained. What happened?

There was another who didn't make a move. Neither to cheer nor discourage, she simply read in silence. One hand tapped out the following, her mute status preventing her to talk aloud as her tablet spoke in synthetic tones.

"Your friend is protective."

She was from a less mana rich world and it showed in the cybernetic parts that meshed with her flesh. At the least, she never jeered or insulted Alice and Lucifer, with many nonplussed by the quiet woman.

@Unyielding

"Along with overly polite and not knowing when to stop. My tale is of one character not two."

Alice turned to the robotic sound after connecting the comment with event.

"Why do you say he is protective? Did something happen down there?" Her rings glowed as she dropped Mini W on the ground. Alice's Facade face smile turned to into a threatening one. If the girl knew something, Alice was going to get it out.

The cyborg turned her head slightly, one eye glowing with an eerie yellow light, the mark of inhumanity that some of the students had in one form or another. After a moment, she said simply.

"Your friend has been the only one to consistently befriend you, to the result of being shunned because of it. Adonis-"

She gestured to the other one who had been fighting, a blond, poster-perfect figure of a classic hero most would imagine. Muscles, blond and flowing hair as he wiped his nose free of blood.

"-Has seen him as a rival in all their physical works. The hazing has not escalated till today. Is it not logical that the only chink in his attitude...Would be you?"

She turned her tablet off and turned in her chair to regard Alice.

"Your refusal to socialize has made you both pariah's. You for your rumors which you fail to disprove and he for continuing to ignore social mores to be with you....You are strong together. You may be strong with others too. There is a high probability that continuation upon this path will result in further situations like today."

She turned back to her book and added offhand.

"Which may result in separation and expulsion for all responsible parties."

------

As for Lucifer as his classmate spoke to Alice, he'd sigh aloud, having come to the same conclusion. One hand raised up to the ceiling as he looked at it, thinking about everything that had happened. He would be expected to shake hands with Adonis soon...And he with him. That as far as the Academy was concerned, would be the end of it. But if Lucifer knew his tormentors, they were not going to be put down so easily.

And yet, he felt nothing in the way of worry. Save for Alice herself and how she might be reacting to the events.

He hoped she was alright.

@Unyielding

Alice clenched her teeth while trying to keep up her smile. To think being close to someone would ultimately bring harm to them. She clenched her fist and lowered her head. Her heart thumped. She was hurting him. Her story was tainting his. Her heart thumped again. What could she do?

Then she started laughing quietly and turned away from the cyborg. "If together he falls..." She reeled back her puppet into her backpack. Why did she care so much for the noble. Why was she so ready to give up the power to save her own world for a member of another. She effortlessly weaved through the students and left the class.

Alice started running to her dorm, "Then maybe separated, he can succeed. Goodbye Lucy."

The cyborg watched her leave, impassive as ever before finally going back to her book. Humans were strange and illogical. There was nothing to be gained.

Unfortunately, she was wrong. A landmark moment for the cyborg.

--------

Adonis surrounded by his crew cursed under his breath, hate making his features ugly as he saw Alice leave. This was all her fault. That this academy tolerated her here was a mistake, as it sent a dark precedent. Today had showed him that much, when Lucifer revealed himself for what he was. How long till Alice did? One thing was clear.... They would have to take this into their own hands.

And so he made his plans...

--------

Where was she?

Lucifer worried, his eyes staring at the door. Normally she'd check on him by now.... Did something happen? So worried was he, that he got up and headed out the office.

A bloodpack untouched and left behind...

@Unyielding

Entering her room, she slammed her door and pulled several doll parts to her. She crudely created a doll and then held out her hand. A purple light glowed from her hand, absorbing all the magic around her room. After forming it into a neon ball she crushed it and placed her hand on the doll. The magic steamed off the doll but otherwise, it would not respond. "Why won't this work!" She screamed, throwing the doll into the walls using her aura strings. "Why won't this world give me my power." She fell to the ground. Tears rolled down her face as she picked up some broking limbs. The only way I can make a new doll now is through the use of a soul. Then she stopped crying and laughed. A soul, that was it. That would give her the power she needed. She threw out a string to reel in her rouge toy doll. Then she grabbed a black cloak and covered herself with.

"If i get a soul... I can create a doll. A doll that will be the strongest ever. A doll that will make others see the true beauty in my performance."
She got and walked to her door with half her face covered, hiding everything except her empty smile.

"A doll that will let me return home so Lucy will not suffer anymore."

The only question was who....There were plenty who she could have grabbed.

Though that would be moot as a text message rang out on her tablet. The following message blinking on the screen.

We have your friend. Come alone to the fifth arena. Tell no one or he dies.

Attached was what looked like a photo, of Lucifer restrained and with a stake poised over his heart.

The Fifth Arena was a dangerous one...A biosphere featuring real creatures, such as the T-Rexaur for students to battle. It was not open to students of their rank yet....And with the field trip, no one would be around. Any noise made would be blamed on the creatures. It was a cleverly thought out plan.

--------

Which Lucifer had no idea about as he ran around the school.

He was getting more worried by the minute. Where was she?!

@Unyielding

Alice froze after seeing the message. "Lucy..." To thing they would go this far and add another character to her play. Tears ran down her face but she did not fall. "I have to help him. I free him from my play."

She quickly ran out the building and proceeded to run towards the arena.

The gate to the arena were open.

The first sign of trouble, normally they were locked down. The majority of students were gone, all of whom had gone on the field trip....Save for a few here. The jungle path led Alice out, to a particular clearing where the following was seen.

Adonis.

Like a Mars Academy Gaston, he was the quintessential hero figure and looked the part too. Blonde wavy locks, muscles and supporters ranging from fangirls to toadies.

Currently, he was with three of them outwardly. Two holding Lucifer back, one with a stake poised to hit it in the heart.

Adonis smirked, seeing Alice where she was.

"So. You came. Good....Good. You came alone?"

The Lucifer held by the group looked shocked and suddenly nervous as he looked at Adonis and back to Alice.

What does Alice do?

----------

"-Alice!"

.....Her room was empty. There was a lingering scent and Lucifer, bereft of his blood intake found his senses sharper...More robust. There was more of Alice in this room and it was making some part of him within very, very....

Hungry.

He sniffed the air once more, inhaling deeply. This scent...What was it? Whatever it was, he couldn't get enough of it.

He smacked himself and shook his head. Focus! She had to be somewhere!

And following her scent, he ran out her room and locked the door behind him.

@Unyielding

Alice studied the group. She was out numbered for sure. She doubted she could out power any of them in a straight up fight. She truly was at the disadvantage. As a puppeteer, she maintained her composure. Her job was to be in control of everything in a story. She held all the strings: control every limb, eye twitch, and even thought. Today would be the first time she acted in this world and if the story goes well, it wouldn't be the last.

She continued smiling while keeping her cloak covering most of her body. The box on her back popped open and magic oozed out. She had no dolls or puppets on her person and all her puppets were in her box.

"Do you know anyone who would come with me? I am a solo act after all." responded the girl in a happy tone. She did not move from her spot and carefully analyze the opponent. Then she curtsey, "So you requested my presences, did you wish to see my play? I have so many show."

"We were thinking....Something else."

Adonis smirked and once more, the 'Lucifer' held captive seemed intensely uncomfortable by it. It was not a nice expression, like a distilled essence of pure nastiness that only came up now. Honestly? The reason for it....Was only partly borne of being raised as he was.

He was far from home after all, opened to a wider universe. What did he care of values of a place far away, where everyone he knew was not here? No, his problem here had much to do with Alice and Lucifer themselves. That sense of closeness, the way she freely moved with him and for him, that she refused for anyone else. For someone used to having everything, seeing the one thing he didn't have and would never have was something new. It festered in him, till it twisted him inside out.

"Men."

The two who had been keeping Lucifer captive split apart, both landing to block Alice's exits as Adonis spoke.

"Take her clothes. She won't need them."

"No, you said this was just going to be a joke. Not this!"

'Lucifer' transformed, becoming a blue humanoid with red hair tied back in a ponytail. One of Adonis's fangirls in Alice's memory, who had never actually teased but was always too wrapped up in Adonis to care. Now? She looked scared....She was a shapeshifter. He role in this was obvious.

Now it seems she was coming to know what exactly and how much, Adonis planned and what he truly was like.

And it terrified her.

Adonis backhanded her unconscious before roaring.

"SHUT UP! THIS WAS A LONG TIME IN COMING!"

---------

Lucifer paused....The sound of Adonis cry in the jungle making him snarl before he rushed off...He had lost the scent in the jungle.

But his hearing was excellent still.

@Unyielding

Alice did not budge when she was surrounded however she did take notice that they released Lucy. It confused her that they would release the prisoner. She wanted to take action and pull him to her but that would be too easy. In fact, this whole thing appeared to be too easy.

Then Adonis ordered the two to remove her clothes. Her heart thumped. He could not be thinking that she would just... give up her self like that. Her smile disappeared, unable to just shake off what she heard. She took a step back and further hid inside her cloak forgetting that his allies were behind her. Then the Lucy turned into a girl. It was a bait, so obvious and she fell for it.

"To think the great Adonis just wanted some new pet. Nobody pulls my strings!" She activated her rings but did not release the aura strings yet. She was done playing games with this guy.

"Its not a choice for-"

The jungle errupted with the wings of bats. All swarming, all screeching...Big and small, monstrous and otherwise. All afflicting everyone...Save Alice. In the eye of the storm, she was untouched and untarnished, a brief parting in the flock to reveal Lucifer- The real one standing there. Who else would it be?

He was out of uniform. Clad only in a black standard issue t-shirt, dress-uniform slacks and combat boots. In his hand he held a sword, the blade shining and sleek and his clutch around it so tight, he drew his own blood.

In his features was a sight Alice had never seen before. Lucifer wasn't just angry.

He was furious.

His eyes flashed like doorways to Hell, his mouth twisted in a sneer that seemed alien on his face. Alice had known his blushes, his caring nature...This was the first she saw him like this. It didn't suit him.

It didn't suit him at all.

He strode forward and paused before Alice, looking her over up and down before sighing in relief.

"Are you alright?"

There was the faintest hint of a quaver....He had heard the order of Adonis through the jungle, the subsequent imaginings of what they had in mind enough to make him angry...Angry enough to let his dormant powers awaken, at least one of them.

@Unyielding

Alice could not help but whistle at her friend's feats. The last time she was around someone with such a level of ability was the immortals themselves. To think he was alive and well. Her heart stopped thumping and she felt more relax and in control. Adonis had nothing to threaten her with. She watched as the bats reeked havoc and then Lucy spoke.

Blushing inside her hood, she nodded her head. The amazement prevented her from speaking. This surplus of power the guy was hiding just overwhelming.

It was less amazing actually then it looked.

All he did was produce a psychic effect, which triggered the bats more savage instincts. Like a domino effect, they went out for whoever was closest... And thus this happened. Honestly, watching Alice as she was now? Seeing she was safe, untouched?

He felt....Happy.

It was a nicer feeling then the anger prior.

And then he smiled at her as he spoke.

"I may not be one of your puppets....But I trust you. Think you can hook up your strings to me again, like last night and guide me?"

Much as he wanted to beat up Adonis for what he tried to do?

He felt Alice deserved that privilege more.

@Unyielding

"Puppets are great for show and effect, but where my magic really shines is in relics."

Suddenly her rouge doll fired out of box like a cannon towards Lucy. Should he catch it, the Doll would turn into a dagger. Then the dagger would melt over his hand and form a glove which could punch and absorb magic from who or what ever it punched. An aura string was attached to the relic to further boost its power and empower the user.

"Now get him Lucy!" She pointed at the man.

"You."

The bats were gone, natural instinct having them flee away.

What was left was Adonis, not looking so handsome anymore. Hate and the bats claws had drawn him into something more twisted, blood dripping from his scar wounds and eyes bulging out. He held a drawn sword in hand and roared as he rushed forward.

Lucifer would fly forward, to meet him hand to hand.

Sparks flew, the blade hitting the glove as guided by the string from Alice and its properties, Lucifer fought on a level far beyond his normal one. With Alice's analytical stance and his own powerful offensive abilities, they made a wonderful team.

Someone certainly thought so, watching them fight from a distance.

A hooded and cloaked figure, recording everything.

Meanwhile....

-------------------

Lucifer felt elated. He didn't know if it was because of the flow of power he gained, or perhaps something of Alice flowing into him as he fought but it was wonderful! He felt invincible!

That was his downfall.

The sword slashed across his chest and Lucifer staggered back, momentarily disrupted as he bit his lip to prevent from yelling out at the pain.

Adonis would grin madly, blade up for the finishing blow...

@Unyielding

The aura string glowed with intensity as Alice charged it with magic. She Yanked the string has hard as she could to pull Lucy away from Adonis. Tears rolled down her face as the sight of Lucy getting slashed flashed in her mind over and over. This was all her fault. She sat in the back seat and allowed the pieces to move for her far too long. That was not her. Alice worked alone. She trusted no one and relied on her power. That is why she was standing today.

The glove turned back into the doll which then exploded with magic upon its activation. Now a human size artificial human stood over Lucy. A red flower sewn onto her head proceeded to suck in magic from the area slowly. Alice removed her string giving the doll full control over its own movements. Then 2 Mini W puppets shot of of her box. Both of them wielding swords and clad in armor. Though she was angry she did not shout out. Her hands came out of her cloak and blue lines darted to the puppets. Popping of wood and metal grinding against each other echoed form the puppets as the magic flowed through their gears.

There was no turning back until somebody had paid.

(kind of want to loose... just to see what happens because technically She has not fought for several weeks. )
