Calvin knew Azel was right they got tangled together by the lips. His lips curved up in a smile into the kiss.
"Please...make me yours, Cal. Cleanse me from those humans,"Azel mumbled against his lips.
Calvin shivered and kissed him passionately. He pulled away and smiled lightly. "Change my scent even more." he said softly and seriously. Calvin started to take off Azel's shirt. ((Continued in pm))

Hours later, it was mid-afternoon. Sunlight seeped past the window, beaming across Azel's face. A soft groan escaped his lips. He burrowed his face deeper against Calvin's chest, shielding himself from the bright rays. The covers draped over his shoulders, hiding his form underneath. A familiar, peculiar scent wafted through his nostrils. His instincts screamed to awaken. His opened his eyes slowly. Azel rose into a sitting position. He rubbed his eyes with the back of his palm. He lifted his head and peered at the door. What was that scent? Why did it feel familiar? It didn't smell exactly human. A small frown marred his lips. It belonged to the inn keeper. What was she? Azel turned and shook his brother. "Wake up Cal," he whispered. He leaned forward and pressed his lips against Cal's mating mark.

Calvin mumbled something inaudible as he began to wake. His eyes then snapped open. "What the hell is that stench?" he asked. He nosed twitched at it. It was very strange smell. Close to a human's scent but not quite. Calvin blink and looked down at Azel. He then blushed lightly. "Let's get dressed them check it out."

His cheeks reddened in response. He nodded silently. Azel slipped out of the bed and padded towards the washroom. He cleaned himself from last night's passion. A few minutes later, Azel exited the bath and changed into his clothes. He pulled on his leather boots and secured his weapons. His nose twitched from the peculiar scent. A small frown marred his lips. He stalked towards the door. It was growing closer. His hand instinctively clutched a throwing knife. He stood near the door, waiting for his brother. He knew it would be foolish if he opened the door on his own. Azel contemplated on the scent. Why did it feel familiar?

Calvin pulled himself out of bed as Azel washed up. He walked into the bathroom as he walked out. He quickly washed up and splashed someone water on his face. He quickly dressed them came out grabbed his weapons. The smell seemed to be right on top of them at this point. He stepped in front of Azel. "Be prepared. It's probably something dangerous." he whispered then opened the door.

Azel nodded slowly. He gripped the hilt of his dagger. As Calvin opened the door, Azel stiffened. His nose burned from the foul scent. His eyes widened slightly. He recognized the smell. A shiver surged down his spine. The inn keeper stood in front of the door, peering at the couple with her amber gaze. Azel bit his lip. "G-Griffin," he breathed. He recalled encountering a Griffin during their separation. After he eradicated the powerful opponent, he ended up stumbling across a band of humans, thus beginning his days of torture. What was a Griffin doing here, disguised as a human? He instinctively stepped closer to Calvin. He never liked the proud race.

Calvin swallowed. He was not familiar with the beasts but he had heard plenty of them though. He braced himself. He slipped his hand around the hilt of his sword. He wanted to attack immediately but he knew Azel would get onto him later if he did not give the beast a change. "Yes? What do you need?" he questioned with heavy suspicion.

She wasn't staring at him. Her gaze was focused on Azel. "Do you remember Arian, young dragon?" she drawled. Azel stiffened in response. His mind recalled that vicious Griffin. A small frown marred his lips. He inspected her silently. She resembled that aggressive Griffin he battled. His heart filled with dread.

"You're his sister," he deduced.

The inn keeper smirked. "How perceptive of you. I never thought I would encounter the likes of you. It seemed fate brought you two here," she countered. Her face rippled, threatening to morph. Her gaze shifted to Calvin. "Killing you two will be a delight," she added. Her mouth transformed into a beak. She released a mighty squawk.

A snarl escaped his lips. Azel pushed Calvin out of the way and intercepted her claws with his dagger. A familiar burning sensation crept up his throat. A shiver of scales gleamed around his neck. "I won't let you hurt him," he declared. Azel opened his mouth and generated a stream of icy fire. He watched as it slammed against her chest. She screeched with pain. Azel kicked her away and turned to Calvin. "We need to leave, now," he urged. It would only take a few minutes for the Griffin to recover.

Calvin blinked pissed at his brother for not letting him take charge of the situation. Yet, he was thankful too. He nodded. "let's goes." He then jumped over the Griffen and started trekking down the hallway as quickly as he could. He took a breath and looked around for Azel too make sure he was keeping up.
((Sorry, been really busy.))

Azel followed Calvin, jumping over the fallen Griffin. He bolted down the hallway, flanking Calvin's left side. His heart thumped firmly against his chest. He wondered if there were more Griffins in this town. His stomach filled with dread. His mind recalled that horrific experience. He wasn't fond of Griffins, not one bit. They were dangerous creatures. During his fleeing, Azel grasped Calvin's wrist. He didn't want to be separated from his mate. Both of them had to find a secluded area to transform. He hoped they would be able to search for the ancient runes soon.

Calvin darted down the hallway and towards the exit. He glanced back again and saw the Griffen getting up. He tried to run faster and pushed through the door. He grabbed Azel's hand as they ran through the doors. He ran through the town pushing past people in the direction of the runes. His mind raced telling him to do anything to protect Azel. It told him to even sacrifice anything for his safety. He had heard how dangerous Griffens are to dragons.

Azel stumbled along the way, struggling to keep up with Calvin. Normally, it wouldn't be a problem, but his heart was plagued with fear. Snippets of his previous encounter with a Griffin circulated through his mind. He didn't want history repeating itself. Azel refused to be captured, never again. The twins entered the dense forest, exiting the small village. Azel didn't dare look back. He focused on escaping. Run, run, run. Never look back. It was protocol in these situations. Tears pricked at the corner of his eyes. He wouldn't be able to endure the consequences if they were caught. Azel didn't want to be separated from his mate. He would rather face death.

Calvin rushed them through the woods. He pulled Azel onto his back with missing a beat. He had noticed him stumbling about and was not going to have him fall behind. Azel's weight in his back was like nothing. He dug down and kept running. "What the hell is the matter?" he asked aloud not expecting an answer at the time. They approached a clearing.

A gasp emitted from his lips. Before he could react, he was transferred on top of Calvin's back. A light blush dusted his cheeks. He instinctively wrapped his arms around his mate's neck. He peered at the path in front of them. They were approaching a clearing. A loud screech alerted his attention. The Griffin was closing in. They were vulnerable in their human form. Azel wouldn't be able to defend himself unless he transformed. "T-there's something I need to tell you after we're safe," Azel admitted. He clung to his brother. Fear clawed at his heart maliciously. At this rate, they wouldn't have time to search for the ancient ruins. Azel hoped that this Griffin didn't belong to a flock. A few minutes later, they arrived. Azel slipped off his brother's back and stepped into the clearing. His gaze averted towards the terrifying roars. He turned to his twin. His expression filled with worry. "We need to transform now. We can't fight her in this form," he declared. Azel stepped back and crouched on all fours. A snarl escaped his lips. He morphed into his dragon form. Azel threw his head back and released a mighty roar. His wings spread behind him. He was ready to face the Griffin. Both of them wouldn't be able to escape. In order to stay safe, they must eradicate the threat. Azel didn't want to add a Griffin on the list of enemies. He endured enough with the hunters.

"We need to transform now. We can't fight her in this form."
Calvin watched as Azel became his dragon form. For a moment, he snarled slightly watching him so willing to throw himself into danger. Then he followed suit knowing it was the only way to protect Azel. If anything were to happen to his mate, he would never forgive himself. AS soon as his transformation was complete, Calvin threw all his strength and weight at the griffin. Hit it with your breath as soon as you get a shot. I will get close and distract it. He thought and communicated through their connection as flew at the griffin. He knew it was dangerous for him, but no one could stop him from this kind of combat.

"Hit it with your breath as soon as you get a shot..."

Azel moved his massive head, resembling a nod. A snarl tore through his throat. His claws dug into the ground. He raised his wings in warning. A few minutes later, the female Griffin burst through the bushes. Before she could attack Azel, Calvin intercepted. She screeched in fury, struggling to slash at Calvin's eyes. A Griffin knew the weak points of a dragon. Sight was a vital point for his kind. His icy gaze illuminated a brilliant silver. He focused on his target, waiting for the right moment. He watched as his brother battled against the mighty Griffin. Suddenly, the Griffin was thrown into the air, leaving her wide open. Azel generated a powerful icy fire, aiming for her torso. She didn't have time to dodge. The Griffin roared with pain, withering from the icy burn. It left her unbalanced, forcing her to crash on the ground below.

Calvin fought carefully in close fknbat. The griffin obviously had fought many dragons before for it kept going for his eyes. All he could manage to do was toss the griffin up for Azel to get a clear shot. As soon as Azel took it, the griffin was on the ground. Calvin roared happily and dived at the griffin. He shot another breath at it. He when that would not finish it off though. He knew what he need was a striking blunt hit to break its spine or neck to end it so dived at it as Fast as he could. He wanted to step up and end it before Azel got hurt.

Unfortunately, she was more resilient. Before he could initiate the final blow, she mustered up all her strength and lunged, slamming into Azel. She slashed at his throat, digging into his tough hide. However, it wasn't deep enough to kill him. Azel thrashed, struggling to throw her off. On the other hand, she remained attached. Despite his brute strength, her grip was like iron. A roar of pain erupted from his throat. Blood spewed from his lips. The Griffin continued to shred through his skin, traveling down his chest. She wanted his death to be slow. She didn't aim for his eyes. Azel generated an icy fire, directing at her chest. She screeched in agony, falling off his form. Before she slipped off, she swiped at his face, managing to rake her talons over the left side of his face. Azel released another roar before he stumbled. His neck and chest was mangled and bleeding profusely. Fortunately, his healing factor triggered. Regardless, he was losing too much blood. A whimper emitted from his lips. His wounds may scar.

Calvin plunged against the ground hitting it hard and with great force. It took him a moment to get up then he saw the Griffen slashing at Azel's throat. His heart and body filled with fear. Me knew if he intervened now though she could easily deliver a final blow to Azel. He made himself stay put and Azel handle himself. He watched and as soon as she flew away from him and slashed him once more, Calvin was over her and bit through her throat and gave good icy breath. With bthat, he snapped her neck. She probably would have died with all the damage they had already done to her but he did not care. He slowly backed up then went over to Azel. Are you alright? How deep is your throat wound? He was full of concern and the lovingly and softly nudged Azel.

Azel nudged his mate gently with his large snout. His lips were covered in blood, a result from his shredded neck wound. Blood dripped on the ground, forming a few puddles. "It hurts. It wasn't deep enough to kill me, but it wasn't light. My wounds will scar. It may affect my speaking when we're in our human form," he admitted. A low whine escaped his throat. His icy gaze reflected pain. Despite his healing factor, it was painful. Fortunately, she didn't touch his wings. Azel averted his gaze towards the deceased Griffin. "We need to burn her corpse," he added. A wave of dizziness washed over him. He leaned against his mate for support. He couldn't transform into his human form, not yet. After his wounds healed completely, he would morph. A faint whimper emitted from his lips. Would Calvin feel ashamed for his newly acquired scars? He was sure his neck and upper chest would be covered in slashes. She was brutal in her attacks, showing no mercy. Azel made a mental note to reveal her reason why she attacked him. He needed to know what happened on that dreadful day.
