Just a Cocky Brat to Grow Up Strong

Senna bristled as he was basically called a monkey.
Yes, he knows he wasn't literally but still, it was implied! Especially since Anton said it!
Anyways.
He headed off in the direction the other nodded, remembering that this was actually the way they needed to go...and totally opposite of the direction he'd been headed.
Oops.
Oh well.
"Come on, Anton! Slow poke!"
Yes Senna was bounding off again...at least he was fully clothed this time?

Anton shook his head with a soft laugh. Most people would have left the lad to die the first chance they got, but not Anton. There was a quality about Senna that he liked, though he hadn't quire figured out just what that quality was yet. None the less, he began to follow the prince, never straying too far behind or too far ahead of him as they made their way through the forest, this time uninterrupted by other people; only the occasional bird, rabbit, or over-sized - in Anton's opinion - insect, which made him feel glad that he wasn't entirely butt naked anymore.

"We should come up with cover stories for ourselves, Senna. If we're going to try and blend in unnoticed we can't go about saying you're a prince." The older man mused aloud as he could, in the distance somewhere, hear the faint sounds of village life. It was still a bit away, so hopefully it would give them enough time to think of something believable.
"Maybe something like... You're my little brother and we were cast from your father's kingdom for..." he paused in thought for a few moments, "stealing food? Or something..?"

Senna listened to what Anton had to say but his head quickly shook in disagreement.
Stopping as he heard the bustle of town he looked back at his friend and thought.
"If we stole something why would they welcome us? Especially if it was enough to be kicked out of a kingdom?"
He had a valid point.
I definitely wouldn't be happy have two thieves move in next door.

"How about we're just travelers looking for a place to stay for a few night."
Looking down at himself and then at Anton he grinned.
"We basically look the part.
Nothing but the clothes on our backs and the swords we 'borrowed' from those guys back there."
"...but the brother thing does work." He agreed with a grin.
They didn't look identical but there were a few vague similarities that might pass as relative.

"It was just an example." Anton sighed softly but smiled with a shrug. The boy had a point, but he wasn't ashamed to admit it.
"So, little brother..." He couldn't help but laugh at the sound of it, "I suppose we could pass as travelers. And the weapons... For protection I guess. Or that we picked them off a few guys that caused us trouble." He petted Senna's head gently, ruffling his hair,
"Good job."

Senna grumbled and swatted at the hands, glancing up at Anton with pursed lips.
"Of course!"
The kid quickly started heading down the small slope into town.
There was probably a road nearby below.

Unfortunately there was...but also there was a stream that cut in right under the small hill and Senna slid down right into the frigid water with a yelp.
"Errr...darnit all."
The kid stood up quickly, wading out of the water grumbling something no prince should ever say under his breath.
Well, they were at the town!

Getting on the road Senna turned, waiting for Anton and secretly hoping the guard made the same mistake.

Anton wasn't as clumsy or unobservant as Senna would probably like him to be, or think that he was. The guard had allowed the boy to go first, mostly out of amusement, and so of course he noticed what had happened and understood how to avoid it. Walking steadily and making sure his weight was shifted accordingly, Anton made it down to Senna without falling or getting wet.

"Well, at least we look filthy enough to say we're travelers." He mused with a soft laugh, ruffling the lad's hair teasingly, "So perhaps finding a place to stay would be the best thing to do, and once we're rested, cleaned and no one knows who we are, then we can go and search for jobs."

Was he chuckling?
He was chuckling!! At his previously crowned prince turned run away!
But still! Previously a prince!
Puffing up his cheeks for a moment the boy walked over to his guard and gave an abrupt shove.

Positives: Anton was definitely going into the stream he'd so carefully tried to avoid seconds before.
Negative: Senna sucks at balancing and was totally joining him in the cold water for the second time.

Landing with another 'oomph'! the boy fell right on top of Anton, his hands grabbing tight to the others' shirt to try and steady his fall.
"Yeah...now 'we' do look like travelers..."
Totally heard a hint of laughter in those words. Revenge.

There was no winning with the young prince and Anton had learnt this very well within the first few weeks of working for him. So it came as no surprise that he found himself in the water, Senna atop him. It was times like this, when stuck in small spots, that he was glad that he had ditched his usual armor.
"Yes, we do. And now we're both wet again." He brought a hand up and though he normally would have ruffled the boy's hair, he stroked it for a few seconds instead.

"Right, get up. Unless you want to spend the day being soaked again." Anton mused softly, "We're not too far away... And I'm starting to get hungry too." And as if on cue, his stomach let out a very loud growl and in turn, Anton chuckled. He didn't at all mind Senna's overreactions; things stayed amusing that way, and even if it were during dangerous times there was always some type of fun to have with the lad about.

Puffing out his cheeks the boy nodded, then smirked.
Guess he was hungry and after a moment Senna's mimicked it.
"Mmm...I guess we do need to get some food."
However! Before getting up he pointed down at Anton, pursing his lips before he growled.
"I'll have my revenge!"
Of course he had just had his revenge but I guess Anton earned a double helping this time.

Sliding off the other man Senna stood and turned, offering Anton a hand to his feet.
He was shivering a bit from the cold water but was determined to keep it as hidden as possible.
"Let's g-go."
There should be a inn in town and they had enough money to at least stay a night without drawing suspicion as to where two wandered got said money.

Sometimes Anton just didn't understand the boy's ways. As much as he'd become used to them, it didn't mean he understood. Taking the hand but putting little strength into pulling on it - in case he pulled Senna back down again - the man got to his feet and looked down at himself with a slight shake of his head.
"So long as no one here recognizes us we should be perfectly safe walking around openly. So..." He gave Senna a nudge forwards to get moving, "Off you go." There was a playful smirk on Anton's face as he allowed the young prince to go first rather than himself, considering that he was the one that was so eager to get moving; if it were Anton out here by himself, he'd have taken his time, but with the dangers that were currently after Senna, he didn't want to risk dawdling too much.

It was a shame, in all honestly, that the recent events had happened. It wasn't as if Senna had a hard life back in the castle. He had everything done for him even if he could do it himself, and even Anton had enjoyed most of the times with the boy. Finding out that the King wanted his own son dead... It raised too many questions that he couldn't answer and it constantly nagged at the back of his mind. He promised himself, and silently to Senna, that he would find out what the hell was going on and - somehow - fix it.
