MORE ABOUT INVICTUS
There have been many groups, orders and organizations preceding INVICTUS--all of which had similar goals: protect people and maintain order. Back even before the turn of the century people sought to protect what they knew against things that they didn't know. Monsters, spirits, beings unlike themselves were never fully understood from what they experienced within their own selves and within their own small nuclear communities. Because of this, what they did not know or understand became frightening and inconceivable. Humankind are quite a random variable; their reactions may not always be to predictable. However, one thing that has been a common trend over the centuries is that when they fear, they rise up.
They create order to give something to relate to, to follow with a sense of security. And so ordinary men become leaders, or soldiers, or protectors or guardians.

As the years pass on by, the more archaic organizations become obsolete and in order to maintain some kind of remnant message, they connected and melded into one, creating INVICTUS. 'Unconquered' seemed fitting for an organization whose basis followed the ideal of maintaining the human race's authoritative hold over the known and unknown world. As arrogant as it may sound, INVICTUS was meant to show not only power, but benevolence, mercy, and charity. It was meant to be a beacon of peace on all frontiers.

Protecting, Containing, Rehabilitating, Exterminating are all major words in INVICTUS' vocabulary. Again,
their primary job is to maintain peace. Because of this, the very idea of the organization itself seems to take on a gray morality. Do what must be done in order to protect the masses. If it means killing a being or group, then so be it. If it means choosing between saving one or another, then so be it. INVICTUS does what it must while understanding that not everything may pan out in with a bright ending.

MAJOR INVICTUS FACILITY LOCATIONS
As mentioned, INVICTUS is a global entity, and facilities can be found (not exactly found because they're secret) all over the world. Major facilities can be found in locations such as:
• England• Germany• France• Spain• Poland• Russia• Ukraine• China
• South Korea• Japan• Thailand• Indonesia• Australia• Egypt• Saudi Arabia• Nigeria
• Brazil• Argentina• Mexico• California (USA)• Texas• New York (USA)• Alaska (USA)• Canada
From this list, there are many more smaller facility branches that focus on local areas that have more headily dense supernatural activity--whether it be because they are close to a ley line, or a potential place for a tear in the veil. It may also be possible that it may be an area where supernatural beings happened to migrate and settle. Whatever the case, all locations are open for characters to be from.

INVICTUS FACILITY 287
The current location of the INVICTUS story is at FACILITY 287, Texas, USA. Over the years, many agents have transferred in and out, but for one reason or another, they are now currently stationed within this facility. The facility itself is hidden deep underground in the middle of nowhere. The nearest city is San Antonio, but even then, it is rather far. Mind you, this is the years 2150 and a lot of towns that had once been had been abandoned long ago and now major cities have become megacities.

PLAYABLE DIVISIONS
Some of the playable divisions are:
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT - This division is split up into two subdivisions: SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY and MAGIC & OCCULT. Even though INVICTUS handles supernatural beings and abilities, they are also highly technologically advanced. The SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY subdivision is used specifically to research, invent and create. A lot of the technology INV uses had been created in the R&D labs. Agents here may (or may not) have some combat capabilities, but are more useful for their intelligence, creativity or ingenuity. In other words, they are the scientists and researchers. On the flip side, INVICTUS is highly versed in all that is magic and otherwise considered occult. This is where, by the obvious name, the MAGIC & OCCULT subdivision comes in. Again, they're researchers, creators, etc, but instead of specializing in the field of science, they specialize in magic and the supernatural.
MEDICAL - This division should be pretty straight forward. They hold domain over the infirmary and specialize in healing and recovering agents. They also may (or may not) have combat capabilities, but ultimately focus on healing rather than fighting. Fair warning, not all are merciful doctors.
INVESTIGATIONS - Before a mission reaches the mission handlers, they go through a process in which the INVESTIGATIONS division must go to (or near) the point of interest and do what they do best: investigate. Looking for clues, tracking and deducing the cause are only some of the tasks they must do.
COLLECTIONS - When a mission involves collecting some kind of item or artifact, they are required to have an agent from the division on COLLECTIONS with them. These agents are well equipped and knowledgeable enough to deal with these items without too much guessing work. They may or may not be completely combative, but they do have the skills to handle various artifacts.
DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE - Then there is a job that becomes too difficult for FIELDWORK agents to handle, they may call in the big guns. This division is the only one specifically for more seasoned agents that specialize in defense or taking care of difficult situations in a swift manner. Think of them like your second line of defense or a security net in case you fall. Most agents here have high combative skills and are qualified to be senior partners and/or handlers.
RECON - After the INVESTIGATIONS have made their report, there may be situations in which stealth and/or monitoring may be necessary. In that case, the RECON (short for reconnaissance) division may be called in. These agents specialize in stealth, whether it be watching or taking out a target. The biggest difference between INVESTIGATIONS and RECON is that INVESTIGATIONS is trying to figure out who or what the target is, and RECON already has their target established.
FIELDWORK - This is the broadest and most populated division for the simple fact that every agent coming into INV is required to be a field agent for at least two years before they are placed in another division. A large percentage of the time though, they remain as a FIELDWORK agent and do not transfer to another division. They have the capability of doing some things that the other divisions can, just not on a specialized level. Many agents with high combative skills as well as utility and technical skills can be found here. Agents from all ranks are within this division.

If your agent does not seem to fit in one of these divisions (it might be best to just lop them into FIELDWORK), you could suggest a division that your and other people's characters might fit into more appropriately. The idea must be run through me before finalized and added to the list.

TYPES OF AGENTS & RANKS
Though there may be multiple bases and facilities, they all follow under one HIGHER UPPER MANAGEMENT, whose faces remain veiled in mystery. No one knows what the HIGHER UPS look like. Not even the Administrators of each branch. INVICTUS seems to have a somewhat bureaucratic structure--with there being an UPPER MANAGEMENT that makes all of the major decisions and various ranks granted power through seniority, trust and value among different divisions. Each rank is given different levels of clearance in which they can explore the facility, have access to information, and have more recreational field time. The ranks and divisions go as such:
HIGHER UPPER MANAGEMENT (NPC) - a council whose whereabouts are hidden even among the highest officials within all facilities.
UPPER MANAGEMENT (NPC) - includes a council of Administrators and HIGHER UPPER MANAGEMENT representatives.
MIDDLE MANAGEMENT (NPC) - these are the data loggers and people that are granted the highest access just below those of UPPER MANAGEMENT. They have the job of keeping track of any and all kind of information and documentation. They are generally the eyes and ears of the entire organization.
DIVISION SUPERVISORS - each division has their own supervisor whom has access to the most information just under MIDDLE MANAGEMENT. they are the leaders of their entire division and are the ones to make major executive decisions on issues regarding missions, agents within their division and the inner-workings of their division itself.
HANDLERS - generally considered the right hand or advisers to DIVISION SUPERVISORS. There are two types of handlers--MISSION HANDLERS and AGENT HANDLERS. MISSION HANDLERS are the ones that give agents their assigned missions as well as make the reports at the end of a completed mission. They keep record of all the events that happened as well. They may not be as interpersonal, but they do happen to know quite a bit about the agents they are tasked to manage. AGENT HANDLERS, however, are generally veteran (senior) agents tasked to watch over and/or mentor a junior or rookie agent. They generally know how to control themselves as well as to handle others. So, they're competent.
SENIOR AGENTS - Senior agents are your veteran agents that have been there over 10 years. Granted, this number is subjective, and so if you are a supernatural being who has a longer lifespan, the amount of years until you gain seniority status increases exponentially (in other words, in human years 10 years may be when they gain seniority, but it may be 200 years for a vampire to gain seniority). These agents are competent and generally know the ins and outs of INVICTUS. They generally have more rights in the organization than their subordinates, but that may not always be the case.
JUNIOR AGENTS - Junior agents are any agents that have been with INVICTUS from anywhere between 4 and 6 years (mind you, human years. It also scales with the agent's race year count). They know quite a bit of what they are supposed to know about the organization and have an intermediate understanding of how things actually work in the world. Their abilities may be more refined, but that doesn't mean that they have to be masters at them.
NEW RECRUITS - Rookies, is another name for them. They are anyone that has only recently joined INVICTUS within the last few hours up to 4 to 6 years (again, may also be dictated by an agent's race year count). They usually don't know anything about the agency and must learn a lot in a relatively short amount of time. All new recruits go through a 6 month training period and are also matched up with a junior or senior agent to work with for their first year.
IN PROCESSING - Any individual that may be eligible to becoming an agent OR has recently been captured and is waiting for UPPER MANAGEMENT's decision on where they should go. This is probably the riskiest [and not even really a rank, to be honest] position to be in. It doesn't usually last long, since INVICTUS is quick on deciding if a person may be useful or not.

Subject to change.

LEVELS OF CLEARANCE
CLEARANCE LEVELS are the different levels in which agents have the ability to access certain areas of the facility and/or different levels of information, files and documentation. This also is what allots them more free time or more free-movement access as well as access to luxuries and the outside world.

LEVEL 0 CLEARANCE: Most NEW PROCESSING individuals have no clearance, and thus, are level 0.
This means that they can't access anything and are most likely restricted to a holding cell. The only interaction they would have with agents is through interrogations and instruction (basically when they're told they will become agents).
LEVEL 1 CLEARANCE: This is the standard clearance for NEW RECRUITS. Agents are allowed to go to all public areas of the facility (cafeteria, public recreational rooms, assigned conference and briefing rooms,
armory when escorted by a superior ranking agent). They are also allowed into other agents' on-site residences when given permission. The information they are allowed to access is need-to-know basis and their corresponding MISSIONS HANDLER would be the one to provide them with all the information they need. Anything that would need to be learned would be from their partner and peers.
LEVEL 2 CLEARANCE: Once an agent shows a more loyal and trustworthy disposition, they will be boosted up to the next clearance level. This allows them to access public files through computers, and allows them to go to all public areas without supervision. They also have access to the simulation rooms and access to other divisions' departments with or without an escort (depending on the circumstance). They are also able to visit other agent's on-sight residences more freely. The agent will also begin to accumulate what is called VISITATION TIME (see Miscellaneous Information for more).
LEVEL 3 CLEARANCE: Again, based on loyalty and trustworthiness, once an agent has had experience with being in INV for a lengthy amount of time, they may be boosted up to this level of clearance. This broadens their ability to research files and look into documents that may have more exclusive access to certain divisions. Agents are able to go to private conference rooms, higher level simulation rooms (or run the simulations themselves), and may have access to specific areas within a division department. They are allowed access to every public area, including visiting other agent's on-sight residencies. It is also here where they are allowed VISITATION TIME that allows them to go out beyond the INV facility for limited recreational time.
LEVEL 4 CLEARANCE: Generally SENIOR AGENTS would have access to this level of clearance. At this level, personal files of agents are capable of being viewed with permission from the higher ups. They also have accept to private areas and at this point accumulated enough VISITATION TIME that they could take a well deserved (and monitored) vacation. They are allowed in all on-site residences and have access to the armory without supervision and all simulation rooms. They are also capable of making appointments with the UPPER MANAGEMENT and MIDDLE MANAGEMENT if a situation warrants them to.
LEVEL 5 CLEARANCE: This clearance is given specifically to DIVISION SUPERVISOR AND MISSION HANDLERS. They have access to information that other agents (even most senior agents) are not. They are trusted to keep this information confidential. They have access to all public areas, all on-sight residencies, all areas within their division as well as most areas in another division (usually with permission or supervision). They are the most capable of arranging a meeting with the UPPER MANAGEMENT and MIDDLE MANAGEMENT. Because of their loyalty and trustworthiness, their opinions typically weigh in more than others.
LEVEL 6 CLEARANCE: Don't even try. This is for MIDDLE MANAGEMENT, UPPER MANAGEMENT, and HIGHER UPPER MANAGEMENT only. They get to know everything and go everywhere.

ANNOUNCEMENT / UPDATE
[12/29/17] WHY HELLO ALL YOU LOVELY PEOPLE! Dao Ma here to tell you all thank you for either being a part of or showing interest in INVICTUS. The rp is still holding strong even through the holidays. We've already made it through Christmas (but that won't keep Mr. Kris Kringle away!) and are heading into the New Year within the next couple days! I want to give a very special thank you to everyone that's remaining dedicated, even through the busy times. Though posting is somewhat slow, the pace is still strong, and it makes me optimistic for the future.

So with that out of the way, I would like to head into the other important stuff about this announcement.

[warning=#242424]SECOND WAVE OF APPLICATIONS START JANUARY 14
Thank you everyone that had put their name on the waiting list. I hope you guys are still interested, because I will be opening up the app thread for more character sheets on JANUARY 14th 2018. Feel free to grab the character sheet code and work on a character in the meantime. The discord is also open for you to use. Just remember, if you do start working on a character sheet early, do not change the coding in any way besides putting in your picture and information.

MULTIPLE CHARACTERS ARE A THING
As you may already know/have seen, once one of your characters are accepted, you will be open to make new characters at any time so long as you follow the rules on posting. So those on the waitlist, don't get discouraged.
No one new is getting higher priority than you.

POST SPEED/FREQUENCY REQUIREMENT WILL NOT CHANGE AFTER THE HOLIDAYS
I understand that even when it's not holiday season, life is busy. Just because the holiday season is over, that doesn't change the fact that I will keep the post minimum requirement the same. So remember that. Read the rules. Reread the rules.

PARTNERS WILL BE ASSIGNED AFTER SECOND WAVE OF APPS
Only a few have been preassigned partners for story reasons. Everyone else has yet to be formally assigned to their partner and will not be assigned to a partner until after the second wave of apps are accepted. If you would like to request a pairing, please let me know so I may adjust partnerships accordingly.[/warning]

Also, look here guys! I made an easier way to keep track of the roster and demographics.
INVICTUS ROSTER

And just in case you missed it, the INVICTUS CHRISTMAS POEM

ANNOUNCEMENT / UPDATE
[1/30/18] Hello again, guys! First of all, I wanna thank those that have stuck with me so far and those who have joined in our wonderful group. I'm still accepting those last minute applicants, but if you're still interested you better throw me a PM to update me on your progress. I'm getting ready to close off new applicants soon! Aside from that, I think it's about time to start rewarding the folks that have stuck around through the slow pace. Below, you'll see a detailed list of what's going to be happening!

[warning=#242424]SECOND WAVE WILL BE ENDING ON FEBRUARY 4TH
Those of you that have been on the waitlist and are making characters, send me a PM telling me about your progress (or lack there of). I just want to know that you're alive and interested. If I don't hear back from you by the 4th, I will be taking your name off the list and you'll have to wait till next time to submit an app or... not... submit? Those of you that do get back to me, I'll make note of it and once you're finished with your apps, you can go ahead and post them as planned.[/warning]
#242424 PARTNERING AND PARTNER REQUESTS
Ahhh yes! Most of you do not have partners for your characters yet! They're definitely in the works, however I must wait to know if we are getting more new apps or not. So once I get the confirmation from the people from the waitlist, I will begin to work on mapping out partners. HOWEVER, if you have a request to partner up your character with someone else, please let me know! I'll definitely see what we can work out.

INDIVIDUAL STORY ARCS
One thing that I am going to be doing for INVICTUS is giving players individual story arcs that will centralize around their characters(s). More than one person can share the spotlight in a story arc, but the whole purpose of this is to give everyone at some point the spotlight they very much deserve. And so for now, I would like for all of you that have been accepted since the opening of the rp to start thinking about important points you may want to explore about your character. We can work out a direction through PMs/DMs, and when the time comes, you will have your very own arc.

MISSIONS INPUT
First round of missions are coming soon! I would like to wrap up the Simulation Room scene and the secret mecha spiders event by mid February so that we can get into missions. I have the first few in the works, however, I would LOVE to hear your guys' input and would like to see what you all can come up with! Here's some guidelines in making your own mission. Mission information should include (PM/DM this to me btw):
• Mission Title
• Difficulty rating between 0 - 5 stars (0 being even the newest rookies can do it; 5 being of fuck we have a huge problem)
• A description (or synopsis) of what the mission is about. Drop hints, but don't go into too much detail to spoil the mission.
• Location of where the mission will take place.
• Requirements such as, how many agents can be involved, what kind of agents can be involved, and which departments.
• Secret information-- in other words, information that only the GM should know about the mission. i.e. the plot,
the pain points, the end results and the details to help lead the agents to that conclusion.

THREAD APPEARANCE AND INFO UPDATE WILL BEGIN SOON
It's getting close to that point in time where information in the thread needs to be updated. So I will be doing an overhaul update including new graphics and new coding. Don't worry. I'll keep it relatively mobile and site color scheme safe. You may see new links though, including to areas such as:
• INV Arts & Crafts -- dedicated to drawings, arts and crafts relating to INV
• Story Snippets / Oneshots -- for those of you that want to write a scene or story that isn't meant to be replied to
• Bestiary - a collaborative compendium for known beasts, mythological creatures and races.
• Missions Board - the place where all mission information will be located
• If you want, you can request something to add!

Again, I want to thank everyone for sticking around. I hope that we can start working out some really good content in the months to come. Hang in there, even in the slow dry periods of the rp. I hope it'll be worth your while! Have a good one, guys.
