They all come here eventually. The talent that rushes through their veins, that drives them to seek out challenges, to throw themselves into danger, is the very thing that brings them here.

Reminiscence is not what one would call an average town. In fact, it is less than average, a forgotten remnant of a mining town, resting in the crease of an old mountain. The closest school is in the next city over, there is no stoplight, only one service station sits upon Main Street, and the solitary restaurant is a simple greasy spoon that caters to the remaining miners and those who cling to yesteryear.

But lately, the town of Reminiscence has experienced a growth spurt. People are moving in, buying and renovating old houses, fixing up the old stores that have been long since boarded up, and even refurbishing the crumbling theatre house. Something or someone seems to have breathed life into Reminiscence.

Before the small but steady trickle of twenty somethings began to flow in three years ago, the town was mostly populated by retirees and a few conservative families. The retirees seem of varied opinions about their new neighbors, and the most conservative families act downright paranoid.

This is not without reason, for it seems that in every group of newcomers, at least one is a bit... strange. Rumors are flying that these young folk are blessed-- or perhaps cursed-- with powers, abilities, and gifts that normal humans should not have access to. Some whisper that these new citizens are witches, others seem to think them psychics, and still others claim that here is the next step in evolution. Words like “devil worship”, “heretic”, and “freak” are whispered by those who hold suspicion like a blanket.

The newcomers, all inexplicably in their mid twenties, just shrug it off and try to go on with life, knowing only that something has called them here, to Reminiscence. Something has called them home.

Welcome to Reminiscence. You will be playing a newcomer to the town, someone aged twenty-four to twenty-seven. You have always been a bit odd, something about you either making you stand out or fade into the background. You may have been the class president or the silent nerd sitting in the back of class, hoping not to be called on. No matter what your quirks, they seemed to grow and change as you grew to adulthood. You found yourself blessed with small abilities. At first, these were easy to dismiss, but soon, they began to manifest with greater strength and frequency.

You found yourself drawn to stories, tales, and rumors of magic and psychic ability, and you may or may not have dismissed these stories, but you kept coming back to them. And as your abilities increased, you also felt a pull stir within, a need to get up, to pack and go. This need drove you to Reminiscence. Rumors are there are others here like you. Others who might understand the trials of a witch, or a firestarter, or a telekenetic.

You will be making a character who is still discovering their power set. A power set should consist of three related powers. You will begin the game with only a minor understanding of these powers. Thus, there may be malfunctions and mistakes made. As the game goes on, feel free to have your character develop and become stronger.

This is a predominantly good and neutral aligned game. However, if you have a good reason to play an evil character, talk to me about it and we will see what we can do.

If you have an interesting NPC to spring upon people, run it by me. There will be numerous small encounters to give characters a chance to develop their gifts.

This game is meant to be a mix of science fiction, mystery, and romance, though it may have a modern fantasy feel at first.

One important note about your character: they will have missing time in their past, though they likely do not think about it. The missing time takes place over the course of around six months at age twelve or thirteen, but is NOT a continuous gap. Rather, it is several smaller gaps, lasting days or hours. This is part of the mystery, so please do not push to have your character remember or connect this right away. If you find your character is in a situation where they would naturally recall having holes in their memory, that is fine.

    Character information:

    Name: Alexander Smith

    Age: 26

Description: Alexander is a tall man, standing at six foot four. Bright gray eyes are set in a gentle face and framed by long lashes. His hair is brown, where it isn't sunbleached blond, and is often tousled looking, no matter how hard he tries to keep it slicked and styled. He looks as though he hasn't shaved in a few days, scruffy beard giving him a more masculine appearance despite pouty lips and high cheekbones. Ander is muscular but not bulky. When he walks, it is often in a slow, relaxed gait. Sometimes, when he must move quickly, he can be seen to limp with his left leg. Ander wears a variety of styles of clothing, seeming comfortable in most fashionable or social settings. In fact, he seems to know how to talk or act in most places, right down to the facial motions and gestures. The one feature that seems to remain the same, no matter what, is a chemical burn scar on his right hand, the skin pitted and discolored.

Short bio: Ander was born into the lap of luxury, and has lived a privileged life. He attended expensive schools, had pricey tutors, but had a lonely childhood. His father owns numerous small television stations, newspapers, and magazines, and his mother is a socialite, coming from a wealthy family herself. Ander learned early on that if he wanted attention, he had to go out and find it. Thus, as a child and adolescent, he took up several hobbies, teaching himself how to debate, to cook, to repair things, and to play piano and harp. He attempted chemistry at one time, but managed to burn his hand badly. Another time, while playing football in middleschool, he managed to break his left leg.

He found that as he got older, he could make friends with greater ease than other children, blending into different groups with an almost supernatural ability. He also discovered that this was not always a desirable place to be. He was nearly always caught in conflicts when groups dissolved or came into disagreement, he found himself making friends he did not necessarily want, and more often than not, friendships seemed to end in ruins because of his unwillingness to take sides. When the powers started to manifest, things only got worse.

Being able to feel the emotions of others was first, making it even harder to take a side or stand up for himself. He began to seek places of solitude, but no matter where he journeyed, people seemed to find him, and it seemed that these people always needed council or help. Unable to shut out the feelings, he found himself compelled to lend aid to these people.

Ander attempted to go to college, but the needs of others often pushed him to choose to miss classes to be of help. He failed out his freshman year, despite having the intelligence necessary for his major: communications. His father was furious, mother indifferent. Ander fled for a time, vowing that he would not give in to the feelings, that he would not help others, but the matter intensified, and he found himself surrounded by people with larger problems, all of them needing his help.

One night, in a bout of rage, he punched through the wall next to a mirror. He glared at his reflection, but something in the expression was foreign, almost unhuman. He'd always been able to mimic the mannerisms of groups he had been in, and had been told that even his face had subtle changes depending on what he was doing, but this was the first time it had ever been so noticeable.

Now frightened, Ander started researching, turning away again and again from stories of shapeshifters and instead looking for a place where he could live a secluded life. He found himself going back repeatedly to stories of a small mountain town. An inexplicable draw began to act upon him, pulling him toward the town.

He returned to his father's home to gather his things, and found himself on the receiving end of his father's inquisition. When he finally revealed where he was going, his father was surprisingly accepting. The family owned several media outlets in neighboring towns and this was the perfect opportunity for them to do more, gain a favorable reputation, and document the revitalization of the small mountain town. And Ander would be the force used to do so. Even as he wanted to resist being put in such a position, he realized just how much help he could be to the town, getting it going again, getting the people out of poverty by making the city flourish. Maybe it would be enough to make the feelings stop!

He went along with the plan, knowing that to his father, it was only a way to make some profit while getting a sterling reputation as a “humanitarian.” But to Ander, it would become much more. He moved to Reminiscence, and found upon his arrival that he had been given charge over a large amount of property his father had been buying up since learning Ander's interest in the place. Most of this property was in desperate need of repair, and the old theatre would need to be gutted completely before being reworked, but if Ander could do this, could make the town breathe and live again... yes, maybe it would be enough.

    Former home: Lexington, Kentucky

How long have they lived in Reminiscence? Two years.

Powers: Empathy (mild-moderate, not controlled), Shapeshifting (mild, mostly mimicking expressions and mild ability to shift features), Telempathic projection (the ability to project an air of a desired emotion in both mannerism and psychic waves. Not yet discovered. This will not force people to feel something at lower levels, instead just putting it out there to be picked up upon. At higher levels, it will make others extremely receptive to feeling Ander's projected emotion of choice, almost as though they are empathic to him.)
  3. I'd like to join this,.. Just need a day or two to write a bio. ok?
  4. Take what time you need!
  5. Color me interested.
  6. I'm interested too. Working on a character right now :)
  7. Aaron Davis

    Age 25

Description: Caucasian male. He is tall, with a thin form neither fat nor particularly muscular. Dull, steel-grey eyes, seated in a cheerless aquiline face, seem never to search or wander, but his peering expression hints at a sight defect for which he will one day need glasses. His face is framed by dark hair which he rarely cuts.

He is serious, but not morose, by nature; however he is prone to bouts of depression. He is not gregarious, preferring to keep few close friends, but can often be found lingering in public places.

As an "army brat", Aaron spent most of his life being shuffled from military base to military base. His father Theodore "Ted" Davis was career military and hard man, and his mother, Naomi, was distant, and his father was often harsh with her. He made few friends, and as a child often acted to get a rise out of others, enjoying the feeling it gave him. For this his father was frequently furious with him, but Aaron had a knack for avoiding him in his worst moods.

At the age of twelve, Aaron became certain, seemingly with no explanation, that the man who was raising him was not his biological father. This, he felt, was the reason for his father's behavior toward his mother and himself. He confided this knowledge to no one.

As he got older, he found he possessed a certain intuition which bordered on supernatural. He could tell whether a person was lying or being truthful, or whether they meant to harm him, help him, or neither. He also found that he could tell things about past events centered around a person or place, particularly when strong emotion was involved. This knowledge came to him sometimes as a feeling, very rarely as a "vision".

Aaron had always felt more energetic, more alive, in the presence of strong emotion. It didn't matter what the emotion was, or whether it was directed at him. If he was in the room with it, he would soak it in like a sponge. He didn't know what caused it, or who to talk to. When he did bring it up to another person, most thought it was in his mind. One friend said he was a vampire. Aaron didn't talk to that friend much after that.

After graduating high school, Aaron attended college for a year but dropped out after his mother committed suicide. He blamed his father and left home, intending never to return. He drifted around the country, taking odd jobs wherever he could find them, never staying long. In his travels, he met several people his age who were on the road to Reminiscence. Finally, he asked why. When they told him some of the things that were happening there, he decided that that was where he was headed next. Maybe there he would find out why he was the way he was.

Today, he has been living in Reminiscence for almost a year, working as a cook in the town's restaurant and taking any other small jobs that might come his way. He has stayed in Reminiscence longer than anywhere else, but he hasn't found any answers yet, and plans to move on soon.

    Powers: ESP and psychic vampirism.
-Gains energy through exposure to strong emotion
-Intuition - Is able, upon meeting a person, to sense their intentions and detect deceit or danger
-Retrocognition - Aaron can occasionally sense past events related to a person or place, particularly when strong emotions are/were involved.

    Richard Brian Kennedy

Rich IS the guy you want to meet in an alley. 5'9 and 230lbs with a fedora to boot. Defining physical characteristics include: Blue eyes, short brown hair, glasses, and a chubby/beefy body composition. In term of threads, the only real consistent thing is the fedora. Whether it's, with a shirt and jeans, dress suit, or birthday suit the fedora seems to just follow.

    Short bio

Even since Richard Brian Kennedy was a boy, he knew that great things were going to happen. It was just a feeling he had. Then again, there wasn't much else to do where lived besides dream and hope. Little did he know of the future that behold.

Growing up his main hobby was singing. He loved it. His family recorded many concerts on vhs. Rich would always watch them and pretend that he was there. Chorus was a great help in terms of getting the mechanics for a good singer. It was his dream to be the very best that no one ever was.

All throughout highschool, he always played at coffeehouse, lounges, etc. for tips. After doing this for such a long time, Rich though it was time to take it on the road. The young man took his talents all across the country. Not once was he lucky enough to play when a record label showed up.

On his 24th birthday, it was time to take a break from his self-proclaimed mini-tour. Rich wanted to settle and get himself together. The first town he moved to was here this whole thing started to look weird.

One night, on stage there was a common drunk heckler. The whole (short) performance this man was yelling curses to several people, in the lounge. There were no bouncers to speak of. After the second song cover, Rich stood up. It was about enough. Unable to see the man he challenged him to possibly GTFO. The crowd roared as the drunk ran to the stage. Brief words and shoves were exchanged before a punch was thrown. It floored Rich. Never was he disrespected like this, in his life. The wasn't a present reaction to give. The drunk starting yelling into the microphone. Rich was so angry that he just let loose. For angle the audience had, all that was heard was a bellow and the drunk flew off the stage. A table broke the fall and neck blood started spewing everywhere. Over come with shock, he ran all the back to the stupid apartment.

That night, the musician was gone. It was time to go into hiding. After driving for one day straight, a mountain town was found. This would be his new home.

    Former home

    Olean, New York

How long have they lived in Reminiscence?

    About a week or two.

The powers center around his voice. However, they are very limited at this point. First, Rich found out that the sound waves could by turn into straight force. For now, the best he can do it knock a man to his back. The next two are at this point not uncovered. Second, his voice can cause a person to forget a portion of time in their life (at most a day at this time). Lastly, the sound of hums can heal wounds (nothing major for now).
  9. Name: Aiden Sugizo

    Age: 25

Description: Aiden is all about style and he stands at 5 ft 4. He always makes sure to keep himself looking good. He could care less about a trend, he usually starts his own trends with his outrageous attire.

Short bio:A young Japanese boy born in Kyoto,Japan was a prodigy at the age of 1. He showed great signs of remembrance and his learning ability was very high. At the age 4 he was already speaking clearly and solving the most elaborate puzzles. He made world records everywhere. Living in St. Louis Missouri for the time being he attended high school. His sophomore year of high school he met this girl by the name of Chasitie. He was very fond of her and she felt the same about him. Eventually they began dating, 7yrs lasted this relationship and eventually it all crashed and burned. She left him behind telling him was nothing but a low life and treated her like dirt. He was 22 at this time and he quit his job, stopped going to school all because of his depression. Through this state of depression was when he realized his latent abilities. Holding a cup of water in his hand he somehow froze it solid. Discovering this new found ability he forced himself out of depression just to travel the world and find a safe and quiet place to train. Somehow he stumbled upon Reminiscence.

    Former home: St.Louis, Missouri

How long have they lived in Reminiscence? 4hrs

Powers: Cryokinesis- Ability to freeze things

    2. Can freeze his entire body. (Undiscovered)

    3. Can lower the temperature in a tiny area around him. (Undiscovered)
  10. Name: Annabel Ishii

    Age: 25

Description: Gracefully thin, Annabel stands at five feet and seven inches with slender wrists and dainty ankles. Her waist-length hair is both slightly wavy and dyed from its original silky black to an auburn. She wears little makeup, mostly on her almond shaped eyes, and her clothes range vastly as long as they're easy to run in, though she tends to lean more toward a tomboyish appearance.

Short bio: Born and raised in a little town that rarely made it onto a map, confined to a community of barely five hundred, Annabel had been aching to escape and spread her wings from the moment she turned sixteen. She loved the people in her town, and she knew most of them by name if not by face but she was hungry for adventure, for a change of pace, for new places and new faces and the excitement of uncertainty from being on unfamiliar ground. She wanted to explore and experience every walk of life she could stand to discover. So when she graduated high school, she took the money she'd been saving for her college courses and left town. Eventually she found herself in another small town called Reminiscence and maybe it was the size of the town, or lack there of, that pitted a strong sense of fondness against her desire to keep travelling. Of course she gave in and nestled into one of the newly refurbished apartments on the main street not too far from the theater, "But only for a little while!" she had told herself.

    This part was recently edited.

The first time Annabel's powers manifested... She was thirteen, just old enough to go wandering the forest, following paths and game trails, just as long as she had the family dog with her.

Trigger was a mutt, but a loveable and loyal mutt. So when the bear attacked, that dog hadn't thought twice about putting himself between Annabel and the large beast. She'd been taught many times by family on how to react in these sort of situations but in that moment, fear grabbed her by the wrist and refused to let go. When the bear roared a challenge at Trigger and barreled through the brush toward them, Annabel fell backwards, twisted away in fear, and pointed a single index finger at the beast. "Go away!" she'd yelled and not a moment later did she hear a yelp from Trigger, tugging her gaze back to the scene unfolding. The bear was retreating, his flank smoking, fur singed. And there lay her trusty mutt, lifeless at her feet. Not a scratch on him.

After that incident, her parents started bringing her to visit one of her aunts. Aunt Selina was a family member the rest of them tended to avoid, even in conversation, mostly because they all thought she was a bit insane. Selina, Annabel soon found out from her visits, believed in magic and witchcraft. It wasn't long before she had Annabel convinced that Trigger's untimely death had been caused by magic.

"So what does that make me, Auntie?" she'd asked, at that point probably the most terrified thirteen-year-old girl in existence. Selina's answer? A witch. The more Annabel visited, the more she was able to recall this strange power of her's; this ability to trade one kind of energy for another, to sacrifice life force for the sake of what Selina called 'magic'. Together, they developed Annabel's control, and discovered rules for usage. They wrote their findings, experiences, and experiments down in a book and called it a Grimoire.

    Former home: Ontario, Canada

How long have they lived in Reminiscence? Six months.

Powers: In simplest terms, Annabel is a witch. Her powers revolve around the use of souls.

    1) Soul Conversion: Any spell she performs requires a trade. Energy is taken from a soul, whether her own or not, and used to fuel the spell.

    2) Elemental Manipulation: At first, she'll only be able to do small things like light candles with her mind or make something light float. Eventually she'll be able to control elements on a greater scale as her soul grows stronger.

    3) Soul Whisperer: To perform her spells, she automatically connects with the soul being used as the energy source. Eventually she'll be able to connect to a soul without having to activate a spell. In other words, she can communicate on some level with anything that has a soul, even things that are purely soul (spirits and ghosts).

What do you want to get out of this game? What will make it fun for you?
  11. Things look really good so far. I'm enjoying reading about everyone's characters. I would like to start the actual game either this weekend or early next week, but that doesn't mean that people cannot keep applying. You are welcome to apply if you haven't yet, please! I'm loving your character ideas and cannot wait to see more people's visions! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
  12. Sounds good. I'm getting internet installed in my new place on the 17th, so I might have to post irregularly until that date, but I am looking forward to the game.
  13. Name: Esther Pearlman

    Age: 24

Description: Short, riotously curly black hair and blue eyes. In the average range of height at 5’5’’, with a reasonably average figure as well- though there’s some unwanted extra padding in the front. Favors dark colors. Wears jackets all the time, no matter what the weather is, and long-sleeved shirts with jeans, or skirts and dresses with thick tights. Almost always has some extra accessory or bauble hanging from her neck or dripping from her fingers and ears due to an irrepressible love for shiny costume jewelry.

Short bio: Was the oddball sort as a child, the type who could never fit in even when she wanted to. Esther liked to steal things from under her single-parent coal-miner father’s nose as a child- bacon from the breakfast table, ties from his closet, liquor he’d tried to hide in the uppermost cabinets in the kitchen. Come her teen years, in the middle of a rebellious streak, she began nabbing clothes and baubles from department stores, and all too soon she found that if she couldn’t outright steal something, she could conjure it into her hands. Once, when panicked, she tried to make a quick getaway- and vanished from thin air. She reappeared outside the strip mall. It terrified her into stopping, for a time, but the stealing had already become a compulsion- one she must struggle to control.

Shortly after she finished her first year of college, Esther moved out of the house she’d grown up in and left the state to finish her education up north. Her father and brother had been her main source of support, but they’d both taken to drink and grown surly. She thought she was done with small towns, but Esther found herself drawn to moving into almost the exact same environment in her twenties once she’d finally graduated university and started looking for another place to live. Cities were too big, too populous and bustling; they made her uncomfortable.

Esther has a sense of humor, even after discovering her abilities, but she is somewhat suspicious of others in the same way others are often suspicious of her. Even so, she managed to pass an interview and get a job pushing papers around for a local construction company.

Plays the fiddle as a hobby, like her father, and can be heard practicing some afternoons in her apartment when none of the other tenants are home. Also reads fantasy novels- a habit she picked up when she was struggling to find out what exactly her “talents” were in her town’s poorly stocked local library.

    Former home: Galax, Virginia

How long have they lived in Reminiscence? Four months.

Powers: Instant teleportation of an object from a place where she’s been before (a shop, house, etc.) to either her hands or her immediate area. If she knows what the object looks like, along with some other sensory guesswork, she’s able to summon it from other places, but not always fully intact.

Short-distance teleportation of herself or an object to any area within her visual field, or slightly farther if she knows exactly where she’s teleporting herself to.

Bilocation. The ability to be in two places at once.
  14. Character information:

    Name: Perry Winkler

    Age: 26

Description: Dirty, disheveled, and slovenly, Perry does not cut an imposing or even likeable figure. He is generally stooped, making him appear shorter than he actually is. When not digging in a dumpster or rooting through a pile, Perry is generally seen with his face toward the ground, eyes shifting back and forth. Were he to stand up straight (something he is actually capable of, but doesn’t do often) Perry would be roughly 5’10 depending on the state his current pair of shoes is in. He keeps his facial and head hair short, but it is usually uneven thanks to the uncertainty of cutting implements available to him. Perry’s facial features are hollow, a combination of drug-use, malnutrition, and genetics playing part of what keeps him perpetually skinny. Though he is homeless and dirty, Perry hates hand-outs seeing them as the reason other bums stay poor. In general he is nervous around others. Were he to be cleaned up, dressed well, and fed regularly, he would be mediocre looking at best. Handsome is something his mother might call him... but likely no one else would. Despite the food provided he would remain extremely thin thanks to his ectomorphic body type. His height would only serve to exaggerate this look.

Short bio: Perry’s childhood was typical for an introverted sort. School, home, school, home... it was routine. Never outstanding as a student, Perry’s only saving grace was his ability to recall details, though he rarely followed directions or paid attention. His parents worried that he would underachieve and sent him to many a private tutor. His most common punishment was for a snarky recounting of exact verbiage when asked ‘did you hear what I just told you!’ or other such common angry parent statements. Perry’s happiest times were those spent in Reminiscence when his parents moved their because of work. At the age of 17, Perry was peer-pressured into drug use. He found that he liked the mind-altering substances, and finding that the downers in particular helped him not be overwhelmed by detail all the time. Best of all, he found himself to be drug sensitive, so he could get his highs cheap. Shortly after his parents, who were fed up and strictly against drugs, kicked him out of the house until he cleaned up. Now homeless and destitute, Perry couch-surfed as long as his welcome lasted among friends, but for the last few years he’s simply been living on the streets, surviving with what he can find. He turned to drifting, remembering that one place where he had been truly happy. Reminiscence.

    Former home: Phoenix, AZ

How long have they lived in Reminiscence? Only recently arrived.

Powers: Attention to Detail: Perry can become overwhelmed with details if he pays any attention. Largely this is made up of trivial minutia, but can sometimes be exceptionally helpful. He can notice things out of place, detect bulges in clothing that might be weapons, and generally notice inconsistencies or unique features. This causes him problems if he concentrates on any one thing. Perry often takes depressant drugs or simply tries to ignore things around him to keep from being inundated with each and every feature of any person or thing he encounters. Note, this does NOT provide him with any sort of technical knowledge or retro-cognition and he CAN forget things and often does. However, when he remembers something, such as a birthday present or perhaps the molestation by his uncle, he recalls every detail he perceived then. Also note that simply because he can tell details, he may not know what to do with them. An example might be that he notices the dentition of a key he found on the street once. This does not give him the knowledge or expertise to replicate the key, find what it goes to, or even know what sort of key it is.

Needle in a Haystack: Perry has spent a lot of time digging through dumpsters, debris, and trash. His unique talents make him exceptional at finding things, be they dropped coins, scraps of wire (recycled copper), materials for shelters, not-so-horrible blankets and clothes, and the least rotten of foods. He is actually quite proud of this ability, considering himself superior to other bums who panhandle and scrounge. He is able to look at any disorganized pile, dumpster, or heap and ascertain with general accuracy if it contains something of value. He’s like some crazy dumpster jedi.

Eye for Quality: Perry has always had an eye for quality. Something like a pull would tell him that something had greater value than things around it. It made him the envy of the trading card community in his heyday, picking packs with the best cards each time he was able. This continues to be an asset, though it is rarely used during garbage picking. On occasion it has come to great use, like the time he found a rare penny in the midst of a jar of pennies, the sale of which helped him make it to Reminiscence.
  15. Alrighty, if you haven't, check your private messages to be sure there isn't anything that needs cleaning up to fit the story. I sent remarks there instead of doing so here. If you haven't gotten a private message, consider yourself good to go.

I was thinking to start the RP on the day of a big community event. Well, big for a tiny town. That way, everyone can introduce their characters, those who want to can meet one another, and we can get things started.
  16. Okay, just a reminder to keep your powers low for now. I know you all know this, but no one should have the power or ability to oneshot a competent antagonist at this point in the game. I just felt I should mention this.

Also, as the game goes on, if you want something to happen to your character, let me know. I'm more than willing to talk to you, listen to ideas, and see if they are implementable.
  17. Name: Harry Dal

    Age: 24

Description: Wears wire framed glasses and is of moderate height, 5'7".
    Appearance (open)

Short bio: Harry had been able to feel objects and people around him since he was little. It wasn't that he was familiar with the area. As he got older he was more aware of it and when he suddenly had to change schools because his family was moving, he could tell where everything was in the space around him in his new classroom.

During certain events of emotional episodes of varying degrees he noticed a light haloing his body. This caused him to look up information about auras. What he found was a lot of preachy stuff about learning to control your aura, learning to see auras, how to astrally project, blah blah blah. There were only a couple sources that actually seemed legitimate but it's the internet.

One day while working with an asshole at the college he graduated from, the other dude was threatening Harry with physical harm if he didn't quit so his buddy could work there instead. Harry refused to quit and went about his business. The school had a party and afterwards the asshole's friends volunteered to help clean up. Of course the plan was to beat up Harry.
They did try but Harry's awareness of objects in space around him made it easy enough for him to avoid the strikes of his assailants. Angered by the cowardice of the assholes, his aura sparked into visibility around him. It was an aurora of color, permeated mostly with an angry red. The group of assholes were stunned and Harry took this opening while they were off guard and went on the offensive. Avoiding the punches, he broke their noses while they were exposed.

After that incident he decided to leave this town with the money he had saved up. One of the assholes were part of some "gang" and he didn't want more people coming after him. His family was safe though, the gang was made up of punks anyway. Deep inside though he had been yearning to leave, being pulled away by some urge he couldn't quite explain and ended up in Reminiscence.

    Former home: Kennewick, Washington

How long have they lived in Reminiscence? One Year.

Feelers- He has an aura that lets him feel everything around him as if he had a million hands. The details he can gain from feeling things will become clearer as he focuses more. He is somewhat aware of this. Gets better with practice.

Grasp- Using another layer of his aura, he can grasp objects within it's range and move them around. His skill in this is low because he only suspects he can do this. Can become stronger with exercise.

Form- Some what amoebic, he can shape this layer with his will. He can project it as a radial blast or a concentrated sphere. It can also be used to deflect, and can conform to his body. He is not aware of this power. Becomes stronger with practice. Using this power tires him out and if he projects this layer of his aura it will take time before he can do it again.

Ah...adventure is cool. If I can think of anything I'll bring it up 8D.
  18. Still working on her bio, but the rest of her is ready, so I figured I'd kind of throw her up there...

    Name: Lydia Caldwell

    Age: 24

Description: Average height. Kind of petite, but toned and athletic.

    Short bio:

    Former home: Northern California

How long have they lived in Reminiscence? About a month

    Powers: Kinetic Manipulation

    - She can increase, decrease or completely stop her own internal momentum, which can give different effects such as increased speed, increased height when jumping, and controlling her own falls, even some levitation.

    - With objects, she can throw them and affect their energy until they leave her hand, giving them an extra push which can increase their speed and distance. She can also decrease the energy of things coming into contact with her.

    - As the game progresses, she'll learn how to use her internal momentum to give her an effect similar to increased strength. She doesn't know she can do that a bit now, because she works out and is already fit, so she thinks she's just strong from working out, but she can lift/carry things that are a bit heavier than she should be able to.

What do you want to get out of this game? What will make it fun for you? Um, a good story? That's all I ever hope for, really.

  19. Name: Hajori 'Jori' Yuven

    Age: 26

Short Bio: Jori has always been considered an undesirable, just my mere appearance. When she was a child, the first thing the doctors noticed about the young infant was her small bush of red hair. The color wasn't normal where she had been born and raised. However, she was an infant, so at the time, the whispers and words of gossip hadn't begun to flutter around yet. As a child, however, just the color itself had sparked an disinterest in the eyes of the other kids and their parents. That is basically how Hajori learned to live life: Always angry and in solitude.

Now she finds herself in the adult years, with a job as seamstress. She thought that being a seamstress would allow her to keep a quiet, secluded, and mellow mood for her years. She never went out with friends, pursued a love life, or committed much to anything but her clothing. She is bad with sweet words but flawless in sarcasm. It is not that she means to be is just all she knows. If Hajori is forced to hold a conversation with someone, she remains quiet until a question is asked ans she has to answer. Other than that, she is not comfortable around...well...the rest of the world.

    Former home: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

How long have they lived in Reminiscence?: 1 year.

-Pyrosis: The manipulation of heat and fire. Using rays from the sun or any sort of lit fire, Hajori can manipulate it in short bursts by making simple hand movements. When Hajori uses this power, it is sort of like she is being trigger happy. Fire spreads and the more fire, the more she has to work with.

-Infa-red: A heat radar. Her eyes can make out the heat in people's body, something like a radar. The negative is that she can not just feel/see the heat in humans, but everything else as well, depending on its size is the heat she can sense. Thankfully, she has the ability to when she uses the sense.

-Phoenix Coat: In the sun...she simply becomes stronger. Her normal skills are amplified when she is in her element, logically. Even when it is in a heated climate, she still becomes stronger. Depending on the severity of the heat, a coat of fire may also cover her body. It all depends on the strength of the heat. Vice Versa, is she is enclosed in darkness or shade, she grows weaker.

What do you want to get out of this game? What will make it fun for you?: Fighting along sides with the other players and seeing how they adapt to the different situations I throw them into. Really getting INTO the anger and fire Hajori possesses but willing to learn and cope (maybe even grow close) to the other players, as well.
