Impossible Love (Completed)

Re: Impossible Love

"Efron is out right now, probably picking up groceries. He should be back soon, please take a seat in one of the chairs over there. Pardon me but you look malnutritioned. Do you want some food? Perhaps a drink of water? It'll be on the house. You are a special guest here you know. Efron talks about you all the time, and I am not exaggerating. The man l-" Edward stopped quickly, he knew the conversation they had. He did not want to ruin anything for the two. "Uh, how did you get to Sete, we are fairly out of the way. It's great but I don't think you arrived via a normal escort. Where are you from? " He began cooking some eggs and poured a glass of water, placing it by her.

Efron was as Edward said, out at the local store to buy some needs. He felt off ever since the discussion with Edward and sluggishly moved around, picking up food and beverages. He felt defeated once again. Emilee was somewhere in Europe and he would never be able to see her. It was the truth and he needed to accept this. No matter how long it took.

Re: Impossible Love

Emilee felt better with the knowledge that Efron meantioned her often. Still, she couldn't help but fear rejection - what if he had moved on, or decided that they were too different to even be friends? It wasn't like she was going to ask for more, anyways. In a few days she'd pack up again and leave, once more hoping to find the place where she belonged.

She graciously took a plate of eggs from the man and told him, "I came on the train... in an abandoned boxcar. I assume you can tell that I didn't just buy a ticket like a normal citizen."
The man smiled gently and nodded his head, "no wonder you two are so drawn to one another. Never seen a pair of braver, or crazier, souls."
Emilee shrugged innocently and took a moment to use the napkin to blot at her face. Whatever small amount of make-up she had applied before leaving was now gone, dirt and grime taking its place. She smiled sadly to herself, knowing that this was her fate now. Then again, living like this to her was much better than being wed to some unknown man and mothering as many children as he wanted.

Soon the door clicked open and Emilee gripped at the edge of her seat. The eggs she had slowly eaten where now beginning to make an ascent up her throat, and her heart began to pound in her chest. Soon Efron would emerge and she could only pray he'd be pleasantly surprised to see her.

"Son, you have a visitor," Edward called as he refilled her glass.

Re: Impossible Love

"A visitor. Hm I've never told anyon-" Efron froze up as if he had been dipped into the waters of the north pole. He had gone mad! He was seeing things, it had to be true. There was no way Emilee was sitting in one of the lounge chairs. Efron could not react. Edward came up and slapped him on the back. "You aren't paying rent here to stand in the doorway, say something! This is Emilee, no?" Efron walked forward. He saw the pendant around her neck. "Em-Em-Emilee?" He walked closer until he could convince himself it was her. "Ho-how? How did you get here, I-" He couldn't complete a sentence so he close his mouth. He dropped to his knees in front of her. A tear ran down his face. He was shaking slightly and it was hard to get a breathe. Emotions were bursting from him.

Efron finally had enough grasp on himself to look at her. His eyes fell into hers and it was just as he had explained to Edward the other day.

He stared at her passionetly and opened his mouth, "Emilee, I-....I love you."

Re: Impossible Love

Emilee saw all sorts of emotions running in Efron's eyes, but was thankful that he didn't show regret or anger. Surprise laced his dark eyes before pure passion filled him, and he dropped down in front of her. Emilee barely comprehended what he was saying and flung her arms around his neck as soon as he came close enough. He was looking at her like she had two heads, but when her small form came to press up against him, he wrapped his arms around her with such familiarly.

Love? Yes, that was probably it. At least the beginning of something just as beautiful. Emilee smiled at the thought of falling in love with Efron. She was well on her way, she knew.

"Silly man," she laughed, drawing her head back from his neck, "I'm here, I-I promise. The train brought me here, and I recognized it from your letters..."
Tears were dripping down his cheeks and Emilee smiled gingerly, stroking away the droplets with her thumb. His body was warm and rigid against her, and Emilee wanted to absorb every bit of him.
The young woman pressed her nose against his ear and sighed deeply, "I missed you, and I'm sorry if I scared you. But-but I couldn't stay along the border any longer. My father... and the Germans... and-and my fiance...."

Re: Impossible Love

Efron cursed himself for what he said. It was in the heat of the moment, still furiously upon him, but it should have been delayed, or completely avoided altogether. "I can't believe you are here Emilee, you've made me the happiest man alive. The pendant looks beautiful on you." He kept his hug firm. He never wanted to release. If were up to him, he would spend his life hugging this woman.

Eventually he released and she followed suite. "I-I don't know where to begin, please come to my apartment. I'll give you something to clean up. i ahve food, and drinks. Oh Emilee it's really you!" He moved him and hugged her again, feeling happier this time than before. Everything about her was perfect, just like he knew. The feel of her body was comforting, it gave Efron that sense of warmth and safety again. Nothing could ruin the moment. Nothing would ruin it, he wouldn't allow it.

Re: Impossible Love

The young woman thanked Edward and let Efron lead her up to his apartment. The older man winked playfully at them as they descended up the stairs, and Emilee flushed a bright pink colour as the man finally went out of sight.

Efron's apartment was small and modest, fit for a single man. It wasn't necessarily an "apartment" and was fashioned with little more than a single bed, a dresser, a small fridge and some cooking utensils. He shared the kitchen downstairs for any real cooking, but still had his own washing closet. Emilee smiled at the papers strewn out across his dresser; most of them were letters from her, and a few pictures of what she assumed was his family were thrown into the pile.
She could imagine Efron sitting in the narrow armchair, reading her letters every few weeks and promptly writing back. Every night he'd go to bed alone, but like her, looked forward to the sun through the curtains again.

Emilee sat down on the edge of the bed and watched Efron as he travelled around the room, grabbing a cloth and wetting it for her. Instead of simply offering it to her, though, he descended to her level and began to clean the dirt from her cheeks himself. Emilee cast her eyes down in modesty but soon her lashes fluttered, catching his gaze. He was so gentle, never rough, like she was made of glass.

"I'm sorry to drop in so suddenly," she murmured, shuffling her feet anxiously, "I just couldn't let the oppurtunity pass me by. I am still not sure where I am headed, and was afraid I'd never see you again if I went too far."
When he was finished mucking off her face, the cloth descended to her shoulders and collarbone, finding all traces of grime and wiping them clean. Emilee breathed in deeply, "oh Efron, you should have seen Jack! My father picked him for me to marry, and I thought he was okay at first. But then he started laughing when the soldiers tried to lift my skirt, even tried to do it once himself! I couldn't imagine being married to a scoundrel like that. He had a lot of money, and that was the only reason Vati liked him. Imagine that, married to a man with big pockets but no heart?"

Re: Impossible Love

Efron set the rag on the sink top. "You don't need to worry, you're safe here. I promise." He walked over and sat next to Emilee. He was mesmerized by her appereance. " Where do you plan to go?" He was saddened by her news that she would not stay, but wouldn't let it damper his mood right now. He placed his hand on hers as he spoke. " Sete has been nothing but kind to me. Edward is a true man. There is not aggression here, just a small town with peace. It was exactly what I needed. I work on the roads and buildings when I am needed. It pays enough for me to keep food on my table. The apartment isn't the best but it is my home and that is what I care about. Edward works around the rent. I am blessed to be here. Even more to see you. Excuse me I need to change, I am still in my jogging outfit. Some old clothes that probably reak." Efron stood up and walked over to his dresser. He pulled out a simple white shirt and removed the old jog shirt. " I don't have a private room for this, ha, this usually is my private room."

Re: Impossible Love

Emilee's mouth made a small "O" and she quickly shuffled to face in the opposite direction. A few minutes the water from the faucet began to run and Efron began to shuffle around. She heard him begin to change and as he moved about, Emilee settled down onto the bed. She had to admit that she was utterly exhausted and the pillow was like a magnetic. As soon as she curled her legs and rested her head on the pillow, Efron's scent wrapped around her. Man and musk, woods and pine... he was purely masculine, no fancy cologne or perfumes to mask what he truly smelled like. Emilee's skin tingled.

"That's what I hope to find one day," she whispered, staring at the paisley papered wall, "a place to belong. I would go home to my mother and brothers, but my father would be furious and force me to marry, anyways."
Emilee smiled gingerly, "I'm glad that you've found a home. The border is too dangerous, especially with the war raging. I-I... I heard awful things when I came here, Efron... about the war. I would leave the country altogether if I could, but that's dangerous, too. Sometimes I wish I could just swim across the ocean, and go somewhere far, far away."

Re: Impossible Love

" I'll support you no matter what you do in life." Efron, now dressed, walked over to Emilee. "You're tired, rest please. You deserve it." He sat on the bed by her side and rubbed her arm gently. " I'll be here when you wake, I promise." He smiled. Efron was happy with his life. Now that Emilee was here, he felt complete. There was no worrying of where she was, if she was safe. Just sitting by her side. She looked beautiful as always. But now she was tired, which he thought was adorable. "Will you sleep?"

Re: Impossible Love

"Even if I decided I wanted to swim across the ocean and live on another continent?" she smiled girlishly.
Efron shrugged at her and nodded his head, "sure, if that's what you'd like to do."

Sleep beckoned her, but Emilee didn't want to be rude. She had come to see Efron, after all, not to sleep. Still, the scent of him wrapped around her and his gentle touch on her arm had her feeling more comfortable and exhausted than ever. Emilee blinked up at him a few times, admiring the squared jaw and rough stubble. Even with the shadow, he was utterly handsome.

Emilee pursed her lips, "no sleep, not yet. That's not why I came here." She rolled onto her side and touched his hand, running her fingertips along the back of his burnished hand. His skin was warm bronze and sunkissed, Emilee an contrasting ivory colour against him. Suddenly, she wondered what other sections of her skin would feel like against him, and her cheeks flamed. Emilee retracted her hand and closed her eyes, "thank you for caring for me, Efron. I know you did not expect me to come by ever again... but... but I didn't want to just... let you go. Isn't that just silly?"

Re: Impossible Love

"It's not silly Emilee. I feel as you do. I could sit here a ramble on about everything but I insist you get some sleep. You can be refreshed when you awake and we can talk about your trip, or whatever you want. You're the guest. A very special one." He smiled at her then pulled his blanket over her to her waist. He ran his hand along her hips to comfort her and hopefully induce sleep upon her. He knew she was tired but was reluctant to sleep. As much as he would love to chat, her health came first. "You will thank me if you just close your eyes. Imagine you are where you want to be. No worries, no cares, just life. Imagine that you are in this place, your escape, and no one will ever hurt you. You are safe. Away from all the world. Eine Utopie fur sie.*

Efron continued to caress her. Her form sent shivers through his body. She was perfect. The thought always ran through his mind. She is perfect. Nothing could take this from her. Her beauty was as divine as her personality. A true woman, a genuine person.

A utopia for you*

Re: Impossible Love

Emilee work several hours later, wrapped in a pair of muscular arms. At first she jumped, unsure of her surroundings. Soon though she craned her neck upwards, smiling when she glimpsed Efron's face. He was fast asleep as well, but his palms were firm against her waist and his breath was warmth on her cheek. She smiled when she realized that Efron had opted to stay above the bed covers as well, a silent indication of respect. Emilee felt her heart swell.

She had only tried to shuffle and move her legs a bit when Efron roused from sleep. He must have just been drifting from consciousness but he was soon opening up his eyes, blinking at her repeatedly before donning a handsome smile.

Emilee rested a hand against his shoulder and smiled sheepishly, "I'm sorry if I woke you up, Efron..."
He just offered her a lazy grin and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. "How are you feeling."
Emilee nodded, "a lot better. You were right, sleep did me a world of good."

Despite the fact that they laid together in bed, Emilee felt in no way uncomfortable or violated. Efron had never touched her violently or inappropriately and she didn't expect him to now. In fact she enjoyed the proximity; it made her a little giddy and nervous, but she felt comfortable with him nonetheles. Already she knew that trust was beginning to bloom - perhaps it had that day when he had saved her from a horrible fate.

Recalling the day with the soldiers so vividly, Emilee buried her face into his solid chest. Safety. No one could hurt her here.
Emilee wiggled a bit underneath the comfortable and sighed, "forget swimming the ocean; I could just stay in this bed for the rest of my life and be perfectly content."

Re: Impossible Love

Efron smiled and laughed at her comment. He sat up a bit and stretched. " I wonder what time it is." He looked out the room's window and noticed that the sun was setting. "It is about to be night. You must be hungry. I can make you some stew. It's about all I can make that isn't basic and plain. I just bought some meat so it will be fresh." He placed his hand on her side."Nothing but the best for a special guest." He got up and stretched once more. His shoulder pain had never ceased since the day he was stabbed. The pain was no where near as intense, but over working his shoulder caused slight pain, and stretching made him wince slightly.

He got up and walked over to his groceries. He had never put them away, so he took the time now to quickly place them where they needed to be. He kept the meat out and had carrots and celery, among other flavorings. He took a pot out and set it on a small table. He had a tiny stove that just had enough power to cook. He placed the pot on the stove and started the heat it up.

"If you don't want stew, I have a few other things. I wouldn't doubt that Edward would contribute to. Do you want water, milk, wine? I have some of it all. He was spitting out questions left and right because he wanted to make sure she was content and happy. It was his goal as long as she stayed, and even after.

Re: Impossible Love

Emilee wanted to tell Efron just to get back into the bed and lay with her for the rest of the day. Still, that would have been rude and she had to admit that her stomach was beginning to grumble. So instead the young woman sat on the edge of the bed, watching as Efron walked back and forth in his tiny, makeshift kitchen. It barely had room for him to move around but someone he managed to get a few things into the pot.

"I'll take whatever you can offer," she offered him a soft smile.

It wasn't long before the two of them were seated on the floor, their plates resting in her lap. Efron apologized for not having a table but Emilee just shrugged; after sitting in a boxcar for days, any clean place to sit was more than welcome.
They finished quickly and when Emilee's plate was cleared, Efron was quick to retrieve it and wash it out. She offered to help but he insisted she could relax and rest on the bed. He even said he had a few books laying around, dime novels that he had acquired since moving here. Emilee smiled at his eagerness and watched as he furiously scrubbed at the plate.

Soon, the young woman approached him from behind and wrapped her arms around his waist. Efron was a good head taller than her, and her nose rested in between his shoulder blades. Now that he was wearing a clean shirt, he smelled like laundry soap and his natural musk.

Emilee inhaled and laughed lightly, "you are a silly man, truly, mister Efron. Why don't you relax for a few minutes? I promise I won't run the moment you stop waiting on me hand and foot. I'm a big girl; I can take care of myself."

Re: Impossible Love

"No, no it would be rude for me to ask anything of you." She insisted once more, and he reluctantly obliged. He went and layed down on his back. He had not fully relaxed all day and this felt nice. Her smell was mixed with his on the bed but he could point her's out. The smell brought comfort to him. " I know I am hogging most of the room on the bed, but please come sit!" He gestured to join him and smiled with bright eyes.

" I'm not sure if i will spend the rest of my life here. I had thought to perhaps travel to the states. It was only a thought though. I would never be able to afford that. I am content here and you have only added to that." He couldn't help but compliment her with almost every sentence. He would do it with every word all day if he could. "How long will you stay with me? I've already enjoyed your company so much."

Re: Impossible Love

She really just wanted him to hold her, but as he kept his distance, Emilee knew that was wishful thinking. They were barely even friends yet, and she was already wondering what it would feel like to be in his arms! That was certainly one way to get ahead of herself...

Emilee sat cross-legged on the bed and watched Efron's chest rise and fall. His breaths were slow and lazy, just like his smile.

"Oh," she said softly, "I'm not sure how long I will be here. As long as you will have me, I suppose. You'd made yourself a nice life here and I'm hoping that I'll be able to find that for myself, too. Who knows, maybe I'll settle into Sete as well!" Being close to Efron would definitely have its perks; only with time could a friendship, and (wishfully thinking) possibly something more, begin to take shape. Emilee now realized that her heart was requesting too much of the man too soon.

"I'm not going to lie," Emilee murmured, "I'm half terrified if my father found out where I was. I have all kinds of crazy ideas in my head - moving from place to place for awhile, swimming the ocean, sometimes I even think of going back. At least at home I knew I had some sort of future ahead, even if it was not my preferred." She reached out and touched his hand again, fingertips burning at the contact. This man had her positively on fire, and she felt as though it would take a crowbar to pry her away. Emilee offered him a meek smile, "of course there is also the aspect of war. I'd hate to end up in the crossfire, and I pray everyday that soon this madness will stop."

Re: Impossible Love

"Emilee you can stay as long as you'd like. My home is your home and if you decide to stay, well I can't imagine me being any happier but I think it'd happen." Efron was restraining from showing any affection other than perhaps a hug. He wished to hold her always, but had to restrain for fear she might leave. The placing of her hand on his surely did not help. He then sat up so he could be right next to her on his bed.

"Emilee your father will not find you, and if he did, well he would have to go through me to send you back to the life you left. No woman deserves to have her husband chosen for her. The defeats the purpose of it all. Love is something that develops, but can also be spontaneous. It's up to two people to decide if they love each other, not a third party." Efron , staring at the floor all while talking, looked up at Emilee, her blue eyes staring right back. He had half a mind right then and there to kiss her. Her looks she gave him brought his feelings rising to the surface of himself almost instantly. His rugged exterior seemed to melt on contact with her.

Efron started lean in but quickly realizing the situation covered up by placing his hand on the back of his head, as if he were scratching it and changed the conversation. "Do, do you want me to give you a tour of Sete? We could go in the morning or tonight. This place is very beautiful at night."

Re: Impossible Love

"Is it safe at night?" she asked carefully.
Efron offered her a small smile and nodded his head, "I won't let anything happen to you, Emilee, I promise." Her father had always warned her of the streets had night but Emilee realized that she was no longer on the border and that she now had a bodyguard of sorts. Efron had proved already that he was more than capable of handling anything that threatened her. Emilee smiled at the notion.

Soon the two of them were travelling into the city, Emilee wrapped in one of Efron's bulky coats. She also looped her arm inside of his, wanting to remain close and secure.
The stars glittered overtop of them, little diamonds glittering against the velvet sky. Most of the shops were closed down for the evening but Efron was right, Sete was a beautiful place in the evening time. The streets were relatively quiet, only a few midnight strollers and works rushing along the streets. A man on a bicycle rung his bell at them and greeted Efron with a slight wave. It was like home all over again - the little town near her family's farm, so full of life and love. It was the very place Emilee had imagined marrying and raising children; safety and hope had wrapped around her, and she couldn't imagine a better place to be. But perhaps, now she had...

They stopped at the beach and watched for a moment as the water lapped up onto the sand. Footprints for the summer time still lingered in the dirt, and a pair of old shoes were dangerously close to the shore.

When they stepped onto the sand, Emilee turned to Efron and wrapped her arms around him. Any other man she would have been wary to be so close to... but not Efron. More than once she wished that he would just press his kiss to lips and forget any worries he may have had. She appreciated his obvious concern for her, but she was a grown woman... not a child.

"You're right, this place is very beautiful," she smiled up at him, "if I stayed, I could definitely imagine living here the rest of my life..."

Re: Impossible Love

Efron had enjoyed their walk very much. He had a smile on the entire time. On the beach he held her when she wrapped her arms around him. He squeezed gently and felt at peace. The night was calm and he had Emilee in his arms. He was wrapped up in the moment and he loved it. "Emilee, please stay here, you don't have to stay in my small apartment, I can get you your own place. I'll set aside some of my pay, you can find work easy, the people in Sete are accepting. Emilee, we can be safe here together for as long as we want."

Efron had pulled Emilee off and had his hands on her shoulders in excitement. "This could work, I know it!" He smiled with great joy. He hugged her again an perhaps squeezed a little more than he should have but it was still a soft, passionate hug. He whispered, "I know this can work."

Re: Impossible Love

Efron was like a giddy child told he could take a cookie from the jar; he radiated excitement and happiness, and Emilee couldn't help but smile too. She wished that life were that simple... that she could just settle here and live happily ever after. Sadly, life was much more complicated than that. She knew that living alone would cause her great pain, and she wasn't sure how good she would be and being able to support herself. Always cared for by her parents, Emilee was suddenly stricken by the responsibility of being on her own.

As he hugged her tightly, Emilee rested her forehead against Efron's chest. He was so warm and solid; why couldn't she just live here for the rest of her life... in his arms? Even if they had barely become friends, she felt a special bond with the man.

"Oh Efron, I don't know!" she fretted, "I'm not sure how I would liken living by myself! How awful would that be?"
He was about to open his mouth to offer another suggestion, but Emilee cut him off with a blush, "and I don't want to intrude on you, either. Surely you'll start looking for a wife soon, and what will she say to know there is a woman sleeping in your room?! You have made yourself a nice life here, and I don't want to ruin that. Not to mention we are of opposite kind, and even in a town like this, they will get all sorts of awful thoughts!"
