Hmm okay yeah I like that. Esoteric something in regards to the characters in this place? They're the only ones who know about it? I'm thinking.
 
Yea. Since the only way they got to it was massive flood/crash or whatever.
 
Esoteric Crux? Crux means most important part which I thought of the base room, where the children are born.

I was thinking something like the character is about to make the biggest mistake of his life, which will end up in with the future!character, who travels back in time to warn him. The ability to travel back in time (be it mechanical or by super power) has to do with the mistake and then past!character has to make up his/her mind on whether the ability to travel back in time is worth the pain he might suffer
