Lilith wasn't oblivious enough to miss the implications of Mako's remark. She quirked an eyebrow at him and met his smirk. "Oh?" she said. "So did you have a lucky lady back in the day?" she asked. She'd be lying if she wasn't at least slightly tempted to flirt back with the warrior. He was, after all, gorgeous. Still, the archaeologist hesitated. A lot has changed since Mako's time, including the way in which people got together. Lilith wasn't sure if Mako would understand the modern definition of "mating." Now, Lilith didn't sleep around, and she has had some serious relationships over the years (though the longest was only 7 months), but she can't exactly admit to being innocent. So she decided to be more forward. "What was your people's definition of a mate?" she asked both curious and slightly flirtatious.

He blinked, surprised by the question, "I had a few attempts that fell through." It had a few different implications to it, though he didn't seem to want to talk about it much. Looking up to her he couldn't help but clear his throat to compose himself as she questioned what a mate was. "W-well... a mate is someone who we choose to live with, to reproduce with, until death or a reason to split our path." He replied seeming just a bit nervous about the concept. Even as a strong confident warrior the concept did make him a little bit nervous.

Lilith listened to his mention of a few attempts at mates that didn't exactly work and nodded but chose not to comment. There was probably a story behind that but it wasn't her business knowing if he didn't want her to know. She listened to his people's definition of a mate, not surprised of the definition as it was the definition for a mate for most cultures, even her own until the introduction of casual dating in the 1920s. Still she couldn't help but have her nose scrunch up at the 'live and reproduce with' part. She shuddered, now that was something she wasn't ready for.

Lilith would deny it, but she had quite a few problems when it came to commitment. That was the main reason most of her serious relationships fell through. That, and the fact that the main commitment in her life has always been her studies, her passion. She pushed the thought away and smiled at Mako. "Well, we have the living together part down," she commented with a smirk as she looked at the home she now apparently shared with the warrior.

Mako blinked, surprised by her words. His eyes glanced up to her, not knowing that she had past relationships, though the smartass in him would have made note that he was/is her work. "That we do, apparently." He replied with a small nod, glancing around before he looked to her, "am I do take that as a hint?" He questioned, the slightest hint of a tease in his voice while he looked to her. It was a perfectly reasonable question after what she said. His eyes looked her over briefly, just to make sure his intentions of his question was known.

Lilith raised an eyebrow, flushing only slightly. "Is that all it takes to get a warrior into my bed?" she retorted, a playful smirk pulling at her lips as she met his eyes. Boy, was he forward. Not that Lilith minded. In fact, it was fun to be able to flirt openly with someone again. Back when she was abroad and even recently, she hadn't the time nor the focus to waste on such things - far too engrossed in her work to be thinking of anything else. "But it's a little too soon for that right now," she said, standing up and pecking his cheek. "Now, come on," she ordered grabbing his hand and attempting to pull the man off the couch. "Let me show you where you'll be sleeping tonight."

Mako chuckled, "Warriors need love some times." He replied, his voice plain as he teased. In his land one had to be forward or they were thought to be a coward. His eyes glanced away for a moment, waiting for her response before he felt a slight blow to his ego as she turned him down. Giving a small nod he stood though, using her hand to pull her a bit closer before he let her go. "As long as it's not rocks I don't care where I sleep." He spoke while he looked down to her, offering a small smile none the less. The dissapointment was still upon his mind but he would live.

"Well you sure work fast," she smiled up at him, feeling a little guilty for flirting back yet still rejecting him. For now anyways. "Hey," she said slowly, hesitantly. Mako has been straight with her so far, so she might as well be straight with him so he doesn't get mixed signals. "I'm not saying no," she clarified. "It's just that it's only been a day and you're not quite used to living in this world. Maybe a little while from now... " she trailed off, leaving the rest of the sentence to speak for itself.

Finally at her room Lilith opened the door to the largest (and only) room in the house. "This is where you'll sleep," she said, gesturing to the large queen sized bed, about to get into a spiel on how to sleep in the modern world. "The A/C should keep it cool and there's more blankets in that door over there." She pointed to the closet, then to the lightswitch. "Flick this down to turn off the lights, and up to turn it back on. The bathroom is the last door in this hallway, and I'll be in the living room if you need anything, okay?"

He blinked, a bit uncertain about what she meant with working fast. None the less her words of slight encouragement did help to restore a bit of his masculinity. "Alright then, maybe later." He replied before he looked about the room. His eyes glanced across the massive bed, a bit of confusion upon his face. Glancing to her he simply stared in utter confusion, "W-what?" He asked, not truly understanding any of the terminology she just used before he simply sat upon the bed, his confusion turning to surprise. "What is this stuffed with?" He asked before he laid back, a smile crossing him. He was used to straw filled sacks and pelts as a bed.

"Yeah, later," she repeated, smiling slightly. Before walking towards the closet to show what she meant. "When you sleep, you cover yourself with those blankets to stay warm. I have some extra in here, just in case," she said in an exasperated tone before walking to the light switch. "On," she said pointing to the switch before flicking it down. "Off." Then she flicked it back up to turn the lights back on. "Geddit?" She walked over to the cabinet for a pair of pajama pants and loose shirt that she could wear for the night before sitting on the foot of the bed and looking at Mako. "It's made out of coiled metals with polyester. Which are a very light and comfortable fabric. Don't worry, you'll sleep like a baby," she assured as she stood up. "And as I said before, I'll be in the other room we were in and if I'm asleep, don't be afraid to wake me." With that, she left the room and flicked off the lights as she exited. Honestly, she didn't plan on getting much sleep tonight. She had a textbook that she needed to outline still and perhaps order some clothes for the warrior currently occupying her bedroom. How long could one get away with walking around shirtless through Manhattan anyways? Though Lilith figured pretty long would be the answer, she felt it were best if she just ordered something for him to wear.

Once changed, Lilith went back to the living room and reclined on the couch with her legs crossed on the seat and the book spread out next to her. The tv was off so it wasn't too distracting and she had her highlighter and draft with her as she sat down and got to work.

He watched carefully, noting that she was somewhat annoyed with having to go over it again. Making sure he nodded with each task he tried to make sure he didn't upset her much more. "Alright Lilith... Good night..." He spoke before the light left the room. He never had such an experience, fires and candles died down, not poof out of existence. Slowly he felt his way around the bed before he slipped his boots off and collapsed onto it with a long sigh. It didn't take long before he rolled onto his stomach and buried his face into a pillow, falling asleep to the smell of her shampoo.

Lilith's eyes cracked open at the feel of sunlight on her skin. She dazedly looked around before really waking up and lifting her head off of the book and notebook that had served as a makeshift pillow for the night. Apparently at one point she must have fallen asleep during her studies. Perhaps she had been studying too hard because everything that happened yesterday felt more like a dream to her now and she had to go and make sure it all really wasn't a dream. She got up and dragged her feet to her room where she cracked the door open only to see that there was indeed a warrior asleep in her bed.

Lilith slid the door shut quietly and rubbed her eyes. She then headed to the kitchen since she might as well make a real breakfast that didn't consist of energy bars and pop tarts.

Mako had slept like a baby, more so even. The sheer fact that the bed was actually comfortable let him snore the night away. It wasn't too long after she opened the door that he awoke with a groan. Slowly rolling out of the bed with a thud when he hit the ground. Standing himself up he rolled his shoulders while he walked out of the room, a long yawn escaping him before he cracked his back rather loudly. "My god, the dead don't sleep so well..." He spoke looking for her before he simply followed the smell of food to the kitchen.

By the time Mako was in the kitchen, Lilith had a full breakfast lined up on her countertop which consisted of chocolate chip pancakes, hashbrowns, bacon, and scrambled eggs. She looked up at the warrior who had just gotten out of bed and said, "Looks like someone got a good night's sleep. Breakfast is ready so sit down and I'll show you how to use a fork." Clearing some space on the counter, she grabbed some bacon and stuck it in her mouth before sitting down herself and pouring syrup all over her own stack of pancakes and grabbing a fork and knife and cutting into it.

His eyes widened looking across the various foods, though he only recognized the bacon and eggs. He looked up to her a smile crossing his face. "Now this is a feast for a warrior!" He exclaimed before he he scratched out his hair and grabbed the fork. It wasn't rocket science after all to use it. His people had similiar with only two tines instead of four but it was the same deal. Grabbing a knife he instantly started into the bacon and eggs. He didn't exactly have the best table manners but they were adiquite enough. "This is amazing!"

Lilith smiled at the compliment even if the reality was that her food was barely sub-par for someone her age, but she appreciated it nonetheless and he seemed to genuinely enjoy it. "Thanks," she mumbled over a mouthful of food before covering her mouth. She couldn't help but be impressed at the way he was cutting into his food. It was far from perfect, but it was far more than she expected. "So did your kind have utensils like these back in your time?" she couldn't help but ask as she grabbed more pancakes.

To him sub par was amazing cooking, after all his people didn't have any where near as much ability to flavour foods. He offered a smile in return to her thanks while he continued to eat. At her question he lifted his eyes, "Yesh..." He replied with a mouthful of hash browns. His eyes glanced over her for a moment, as if he was surprised that she would even ask such a thing, as far as he knew everyone had forks. Hell most carried them with a spoon and knife in a little leather sheath on their hips.

"Huh, I never would have guessed. We never found anything resembling utensils during the excavation," she exclaimed as she swirled whipped cream onto her pancakes. Lilith leaned over and did the same to Mako's pancakes. "Here, try it like this," she said as she leaned back.

"They probably rusted away, they were usually made of lesser steels..." He replied while she offered the whipped cream, a bit of confusion crossed his face while the cream seemed to magically appear upon his food. "O-okay?" He questioned looking a bit confused before he began to eat none the less. A smile crossed him however, "Wow... how does this stuff come out?!" He questioned seeming to be simply eating the cream instead of the cake, he'd probably make himself sick off of it if she let him.

"That would explain it," she said, agreeing around a mouthful of bacon and smiled at Mako's own smiling expression. If she were with her friends, she would have joked and said 'magic' but she figured that he would probably take her seriously so she went with the other response. "Science," she said simply, grabbing more of her own food. "Just don't eat too much of it at once, you'll regret it later."

He gave her a small nod, "Science...." He replied, contemplating the concept before he began to eat once more. Soon enough he had it gone and they were soon replaced by any leftovers on the table. Of course he would have a large appetite after all. Taking the can he replicated her actions for getting the cream out, only to flinch as it started to spray onto his pancakes. A look of childish glee crossed him, soon placing the can back on the table and digging in again. "It's sooooo good."
