He sat, falling heavily into his seat averting his eyes. "My men are all dead, I watched then all fall one by one over the past three weeks, They've been my family there last years.... You take no prisoners. If you really wanted to save us, if you were as righteous as you claim. You would at least pretend to have a sense of mercy. You kill everyone, except one person. I don't know why I'm still alive but do know I will not survive this war either. As soon as I'm no longer useful my life is over. So then Imala, this is goodbye."
His lips separated in a half smile, neither the warmth of a friend nor the cold of an enemy showing in the expression. "Since I'll never get another chance I'll say it now. I tried to make it your farewell when you left. I had half a mind to stop you leaving. I thought you were going onto bigger and better things. And yet here we are, both facing pain and death. Its almost ironic."
He looked away again "If its all the same to you I'll think of you as you were back then, not.. this.. when they take me."
