Heathens. [Sign-Up / OOC]

Preferably not, I think... if you can develop a little on how they'd fit in to the situation then maybe =]

I think that since my character is a Priestess she's pretty firm in her belief of the Olympians, but doesn't dislike the other races. Rather she just thinks of them as being misguided.

Anybody know anyone who might be interested in joining this? Would really like to get it started but don't have enough players yet =/

Ok I'd love to join this however couple things. Cross religion just because I'm human does that mean I can't worship another God instead of set Gods, or live in another land? If say I worship Thor does that mean I am not a warrior and am set as a builder?(I think Odin and Thor should have been switched)

@James Estacado. With reference to worshipping a God other than your own races, see what I told EpitaphQueen:

I suppose if you really wanted you could make an Elf who worships one of the other deities, but then your character would have to be an outcast from the Elves, as The Elders certainly wouldn't accept you. (The same would be applicable to the other races: in this world, their Gods are everything.)

You could potentially find acceptance with a few of the race whose God you worship, though most would see you the same way your race do.

If your problem is that you want an Elf who uses different skills, etc than those specified under the major Gods, as I've now added in my first post - they're only guidelines and what your character would be especially good at: you're not restricted to using only what is outlined in the description of your major God :)

As for the thing about Thor and Odin - when I said "good with hammers" I meant as in war hammers, etc rather than to do with building. And like I've said - worshiping Thor wouldn't mean that you HAVE to use a hammer, it just means you'd be likely to be particularly skilled with one.

James Estacado ? I'd intended the enchantments to be temporary - something the worshippers of Loki would use whilst in battle for temporary boosts. Having a permanent enchantment put on your weapon by somebody else would kind of defeat the object of having that as an advantage of worshipping Loki. Sorry.

I am keen, Mohawk.

I'd like to play a dwarf, a runesmith-esque character who worships Loki. Perhaps a little deranged akin to a 'he's a good smith, but he's off his rockers' sort.

Would you be opposed to a somewhat unorthodox character like that?

I guess it depends how you intend him to interact with the proceedings... if you mean the kind of character that's going to just do random stuff that messes things up and makes havoc for no reason, I don't really want that kind of character in here, but as for a character that tries to help but is just kinda crazy and eccentric, I guess that'd be okay. If you get what I mean? haha.

Basically; so long as you actually have some part to play that isn't just making trouble and stuff for the sake of it, then feel free to have a slightly crazy character =p

Gender: Female.
Age: 803.
Position: Elder.
Major God: Ra.
Minor God: Ma'at.
View On Artifact: She is a protector, and holds a balanced mind for justice and truth. She wishes to keep out of the strange objects business, but updated on the state of the situation.. She understands that there needs to be a balance of peace, yes. However, war also partakes in the world for an equal amount of bloodshed alongside tranquility.

How many people are we looking for anyway? I've been trying to rustle some up. lol

Yay, thanks Angel :D haha. Erm... Ideally I'd want around 4-5 players of each race, so we could have leaders, scouts and 'other's... I know it's a lot but yeah, ideally...

I will have your 'engineer' and walking armoury bio up soon enough, then!

Name: Argyle Therein
Race: Dwarf
Age: 345
Gender: Male
Height: 4'
Weight: 110lbs
Eye Colour: Azure
Hair Colour: White
Place of Birth: Balandom
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Religion: Loki Worshipper
Occupation: Smith

History: A long time ago, Argyle Therein was a name to be remembered. In the secret echelons of the smithing guilds, he was known as the Thunder Key – for it was he that underpinned most of the lightning elemental enchantments that exist in dwarven culture today. As a child, he exhibited the same intellect all smiths did, his curiosity for the ancient Magicks that empower metal, stone, and amber all but unrivalled.

When the artefact fell, the gods, unable to venture to the mortal realm themselves, instead began to manipulate their worshippers to fight a secret war within a war. As the high smith of King Terȃin, Argyle was a prime target to be manipulated, coerced, and controlled. Loki, eternally jealous of Thor's place a top the dwarven pantheon, saw Argyle's reverence of lightning as a way to truly hurt Thor where weapons and battlegrounds could not; he could steal the old god's pride, and gain a valuable ally in the process, should the artefact ever require to be made anew in Loki's image.

After three decades of manipulation, Argyle snapped, and threw down the idol of Thor in his workshop. Considered deranged by his kin, he was expelled from the kingdom, and sent to the lesser king's whim. Though his increasing inability to hold a coherent conversation and tendency to drink causes him to clash constantly with his brethren, there is no denying the man's use on the expedition to examine the star metal. Whatever fell from the sky, Argyle will know; he will smash it apart or carve runes of edifice and containment onto it, claiming it before the humans or elves ever learn its name.

If, of course, Loki's plans to favour the dwarves' prosperity are as clear cut as they seem…

Skills: Dwarves, unlike other races, tend to specialise in a smaller number of skills, but to a greater degree of proficiency. Centuries in the making, Argyle has all but mastered the use of runes of lightning and smithing, and tempered his battle arm with an unnerving fervour against orc skull and wyvern scale. Suffice to say, although he has great knowledge of the skills outlined below, he lacks development with other things many elves and humans would consider trifling.

Master Smith: Argyle can, given the time, and the resources, make rigid, well-made armour out of iron, steel, mithril, leather, dragon steel, and crucially, star metal. He can only make armour for dwarves, and a lesser extent, for humans. His knowledge of elven smithing is minimal at best, for they use magic lost to the dwarves, and fold their ores in ways the dwarves consider blasphemous to the lava deities and fire spirits.

Repairer: Argyle can hammer, tong, and temper armour damaged in battle. He will require the resources to do so, and the time, but his speed is much quicker than most. They say a man or dwarf who can throw his own weight in the tip of a hammer can batter out any kinks in any armour; Argyle can throw twice that…

Hammer Proficiency: Argyle's an adept warrior with his smithing hammer. He can block, parry, and counterweight with it, and is not averse to wielding it with a small round shield, should his other hand be free. He can defend himself; though more experienced foes will easily outwit him in terms of combat skill.

Abilities: Argyle's primary ability, enhanced further still by Loki's boon and curse, is the talent of enchantment. Unlike other races, who can wield magic freely, the dwarves must bind the ether into runes, and place it on artefacts and hammers and shields. The runes can be commanded to trigger, or simply do so when requirements are met – such enchantments can last for centuries, though the things they enchant often break or decay long before then. Any weapon or item may only ever have one rune placed upon it.

Rune of Smiting: The Rune of Smiting is a simple cross, with four small dots at the end of each of the bars. When placed on a blunt weapon, it will cause the shaft to crackle with lightning, and the weapon to hit with X2 strength on its next successful swing.

Rune of the Storm: The Rune of the Storm conjures a storm of lightning around a blade, pole, or hammer's tip. This causes any injuries inflicted to linger, and can be used to deflect arrows and other metallic projectiles (the enchanted item becomes magnetic for a brief while).

Rune of the Moon: The Rune of the Moon creates natural light, as if the enchanted item were a white torch.

Rune of the Sun: The Rune of the Sun creates a source of heat, equivalent to a stoic fire.

Items:

Galni: a heavy battle hammer made of steel, laced with agate (enhances lightning runes).
Round Shield: (Wooden with metal frame).
Steel Platemail: Coloured blue with golden trim.
Travel Pack: (bedding, candles, flint, pan, torch, tongs, hammer, and assorted smithing equipment).
Travel Rations: (Stone bread, water flask, poultice and knife and fork).

I was invited to join and by what I read so far it seems quite interesting however I have a few questions if they could be answered.

Uhh... there was a communication error when he was ordered to 'slay' a den of harpies, resulting in blasphemous creatures that were half harpy, half man? xD

Also, just to clarify a little, are you thinking he could be the scout? :)
