Coins can be fun to count. If you have absolutely nothing else to do.

A young man sat in a corner table, nursing a bowl of goat's milk and a small stack of money. The dull thump of his dagger's point repeatedly hitting the tabletop was drowned out by the hum of ambient and increasingly tipsy conversation. He scratched a stubbly jaw and pushed back unkempt hair to reveal a pair of despondent hazel-colored eyes.

Larion had been staying at the tavern for almost a week now, and was feeling increasingly lethargic. Drinking had lost its appeal since the day before yesterday, when Larion had ventured deep into a bottle of hard Orcish liquor and spent the majority of the next day staring into a bucket of vomit. The Book - well, The Book didn't get any more interesting- or make any more sense- no matter how many times he re-read it. In his boredom, he had absent-mindedly carved several symbols from The Book into the wall beside his hired bed. He had considered scratching them out so that Kyila (the tavern-maid that Larion had been half-heartedly attempting to seduce) wouldn't see them and think Larion insane, but it was doubtful she would see the inside of his room before he would run out of coin and have to leave.

Some of the coins had little heads on, and some had tiny skull-faces. In a dangerous area like this, any discs of precious metal were currency, but in Larion's birth city, anyone possessing coins from Geth would be suspected of treason. Larion had enough coins to stay at the tavern for a few more days, but had no idea what he'd do next. The recently dwindling pile of coins shook slightly whenever Larion idly stabbed his dagger at the table, as he watched a colorful crowd of travelers walk into the bar and group together. Several such groups had formed during Larion's stay at the tavern, adventuring types, armed to the teeth or bristling with magical energy- and looking to make quick coin. Larion longed to join one of these groups, but there was nothing qualifying him to go on a special mission. Larion couldn't wield a five-foot greatsword, or conjure a bolt of lighting from a clear sky; life had merely taught him to stay out of trouble.

But staying out of of trouble hadn't got Larion very far. As he watched an orc, a shade, some sinister-looking men and a couple of small animals decide to band together to gain profit from a merchant's fear, he became increasingly convinced that today was the the day that Larion Danil Lomonov would ignore his one life-lesson, and step into the world of risk. Gathering his resolve, he collected his coins into their pouch and rushed upstairs to grab his satchel, stuffing in some food, water, and The Book. He ran back downstairs, intending to join the company that had formed.

They were gone. Larion slumped onto the bottom step, staring at the door, when the Orc suddenly burst back in. Something about the words "We're going to war" kindled something within Larion, and he hurried toward the door, with a final wistful glance at Kyila.

Harrow returned to the cart as he sheathed the knife. Still speaking telepathically he looked at the cat. "I meant do not try to bring harm to anyone of us again. A beast to protect yourself and the group is fine, just not for the sole purpose of 'testing' us."

The merchant walked over to the cart with several workers following him. They loaded the last of the goods onto the cart and the merchant hopped in. He looked around at the group, "Well, we should be fine. Now hurry up!"

Jade's ears twitched a little as she approached the cart. Jumping on the top she shifted into a young lady with long black hair and her large witch hat covering half of her face. Lying down she muttered a spell that made a small invisible shield on top so the sun wouldn't burn her.

'Fine......' she said closing her now magenta eyes as she relaxes.

Noxel gazed back at Jade now in her human form and grabbed his chest, the beating returned and moved so fast it hurt. He still held it as the newcomers came aboard and gave them a polite nod and a smile. Gorgutz's leaning on the side of the cart was a bit of a problem until the cargo was loaded. "Hurry up!" The annoying merchant yelled and a quick flick of the reins sent them off.

Now on top of the cart sleeping she could hear people yelling as it was time for them to go. Jade paid no attention to it sleeping still. Unfortunately the cart was already full but she didnt mind it after all she could bare the heat after getting used to it. Though she didnt know why she joined them in the first place but she felt as if she needs to help them incase something dangerous happens or so that's what she thought...

As they left town Noxel realized that he was unaware of something very important."Soooo where are we going?"

The merchant moved up to sit beside Noxel. "Just follow the road that way and we'll be on our way." He said, looking over his shoulder at the others. "More people then I thought I was going to hire, but extra protection is always good."

In the back Harrow quietly chanted to himself, keeping his glamors up. After a few minutes he leaned back and sighed. The strain of keeping this up for this long of an extended period was starting to take it's toll. He looked over at the orc and smelled blood. With a quick shake of his head he dis-spelled the instincts of the average undead.

Jade slept on the top, her hat covering her face as they left the town towards the forest. Yawing she opened her eyes and chanted softly while asking Harrow and Noxel...with a tired voice 'hey.... just how many people are there with you ?' staring inside her hat, she sighed before closing her eyes again.

"Well let's see here..." Noxel breathed in deeply before listing everyone currently on the cart."Me, You, Harrow, Gorgutz, the bloody warrior, the paladin, creepy elf lady, the uhh... human, and Crimson was it?"

Jafd giggled slightly while looking down. 'I can hear your voice slightly up here...and didn't I told you to not speak like that when you're talking to me? Hehehe people can hear you~' she said looking up while summoning a white butterfly playing with it.

As the cart rolled down the old road it soon entered a wooded area. After a few hours Noxel and the merchant spotted four men in black hoods standing in the middle of the road. One of them lifted a short sword and pointed it at the wagon. A sudden, almost explosive, gust of wind tipped the cart onto it's side and men charged in from the woods.

"Leave the merchant, kill the rest! We will send a message to any who would cheat us or our master!" One of the hooded men shouted as they walked forward.

4 Hoods (Stronger melee bandits(?) with some magic capability.)
6 bandits (Basic bandit, nothing remarkable.)

((I'm just giving you guys some details about the enemies so you have some idea of their capabilities and numbers))

Gorgutz was getting irritated by the 4 black hooded figures in the middle of the road, He was about to say something when the cart had flipped over. Fortunately Gorgutz was not on the side that had landed on the ground. Hearing the sounds of the other men charging, Gorgutz ripped off the door of the chart and used it like a make shift shield.

One of the men from the woods came towards him thrusting his sword, Gorgutz quickly blocked it with the door, the sword went through the window. Gorgutz twisted the shield and pulled the bandit towards him. with a twist of his elbow, the orc broke the bandits arm by using the frame of the window door to shatter the bandits wrist and elbow. As the bandit screamed and dropped his sword, another bandit flanked Gorgutz hoping to catch him off guard. However, the Orc grunted as he threw his axe in the air, catching it by the pommel and let the weight of the barbaric weapon fall on the human between his shoulder and neck. A spray of blood caressed the Orcs face as the human with the axe in his neck fell to his feet.

Noxel sprang out of the tipping cart and tossed his wicker cane into the air. Two of the Hoods aproched him as his cane changed into a tall, wicked sharp scythe and landed in his hands. One of the Hoods ran at him with duel knives and Noxel replied by swiftly slashing and confiscating his head. He was then tossed into a nearby boulder by a gust of wind provided by the other Hood. Pale blue soul-fire leapt from his hand and engulfed the wind mage, leaving him deeply burned but not quite dead.

Harrow was flung onto the ground as the cart flipped onto it's side. He felt his left arm break as several crates crashed down on him. He pushed the crate off and stood. One of the bandits grabbed him and drove a sword through his chest. With a scream Harrow whipped his knife out of it's sheath and lopped the man's hand off. "It will take far more to kill me!" He screamed.
With a flick of his wrist he sent a spray of blood from the bandit's throat.

3 hoods
3 bandits

Cursing in mage tongue she escaped from the cart and landed near a man wearing a hood. Teleporting behind him she leaned near the man's ear as she whispered "Why hello there~ I see you're alone... mind if I have a small chat with you?" Jade grinned widely, chains stared to come out from the ground as she wraps them around the hooded man and forces him to sit on a dark chair glowing purple while a small table and chair came out too.

Approaching the chained man she sensed someone attacking beside her. Jade placed her hand on the bandit's face chanting a spell before he was sent flying to the other side of the forest. Taking a sit infront of the chained man she smirked a little staring into his eyes like a predator.

"Lets start now shall we?"

2bandits left xD

The windy Hood got up and appeared to be determined to save his buddy, rapidly throwing a volley of cyclone disks at Jade. Suddenly Noxel's body seemed to move on its own, jumping in front of her and swiftly spinning his scythe blocking the assault. He felt it again, that aggravating beat. The shade was so distracted that he didn't notice the flaming arrow speeding toward his head.

Seeing that Noxel protected her from the attack she silently thanked him but she sensed something coming before shouting a spell that created a shield as the arrow burned to ashes...

"Thank you for saving me Noxel......" she thanked before going behind him putting a hand on his chest feeling something beating fast before leaning towards his ear "Heheh calm down deary you don't want to faint now do we?" Jade whisperd softly before turning her attention towards the chained hooded man grinning widely as she approached him.

"Now where were we?"

He held his chest were the thumping was. Was it fear? No he had seen fear incarnate. His mind was then brought to the demons. Did they do this? Why? He shook his head and brought his attention to the bandit archer and rushed at him, arrows flying past him. Once he reached him his shadowy claw emitted a faint blue light as exploded his head with a well timed blast.

Harrow rushed one of the remaining hoods. The hood drew his knife and blocked Harrows attacks before chopping into Harrow's arm and sending him flying with a blast of magic. Harrow sailed through the air, crashed into a tree, and slid to the ground.
He stood and rushed again, unleashing a flurry of knife strikes at the hood. They were all blocked, but Harrow reached a hand through the man's defense and grabbed his face. At first the only effect was the man trying to rip Harrows hand away from his face while it glowed. Then the man's head lit on fire and Harrow let go.

(I guess I'm controlling NPCs or something....)
The Hood on Jade's table stared at her, smiling. "I give you nothing." He said before he began twitching and foaming at the mouth.

"Hmmm...you give me nothing you say??" She grinned widely as she makes the chains around him tighter crushing his bones bit by bit. "Ohoho but im not here to interrogate you darling~" Raising a giant hammer she summoned, she stared into his eyes like a devil as her eyes glowed red..

"Im here to kill you.... That's what im here for........right?" She said while a dark shield was covered around them as the others outside can't see what happened inside. Bringing the hammer down the man he screamed wildly and was smashed into broken flesh while blood stained her corset making it look like she was stabbed by him. Looking at the corpse she make a gate to hell as the body fell towards the fire. Closing it she felt her energy drop and fainted.

The shield was broken leaving a broken shadow table with the sign of hell's gate underneath it and a fainted Jade while a pool of blood was around her with the bloody hammer at her side...............sometimes Jade becomes a little devil everytime she traps someone in chains....and hated it with passion..she wasn't like that when she trapped the hooded man in chains.
