Fallout: A New Journey

  • He took the cigar quietly and said nothing, just waiting for the next job. Words rang in his head. "Have one of mine, your starting to get on my nerves" his what is starting to get on his nerves? Whatever is in this cigar it ain't tobacco, that's for sure. Emil noticed new people come by, and he kept his hand on his SMG, who knows what trouble they might be bearing. Having a better look, he noticed that even three of the newcomers are female. The one, most likely a mercenary, by the looks of her gear was not even possible to cohere: aviator sunglasses covered her eyes and expression. Her looks was too much business-like for him. He remembered, that he used to work for those business-like types. They are stingy with setting up the contract, but from then on, it's set in stone for them. Still though, she felt like too much danger for him. The other two, he could not quite make out. Once the works are done, he might just try talking to either or both, but as it is, he did not feel too enchanted with optimism. The ladies were followed by a group of men and a trader with some guards. Among the men there was a supermutant, and that made him feel uneasy. It was a rough journey to this place, and part of the roughness were exactly supermutants. He wasn't sure what to make of seeing others seemingly fine with him, maybe it's just his own personal prejudice. The other person of note to him was a bloodstained man in medic's armor. The man carried almost a psychotic smile with him, his white teeth gleaming from a distance. One could think the man was shellshocked, but to Emil the man looked anything but shellshocked. That cheerful attitude made Emil feel uneasy. Something inside of him advised to stay well away from him. He noticed that the medic suddenly started to hurry towards the mercenary-like woman. He noticed medic's particular... treatment of that mercenary. Is this is how people with self-esteem get women?

  • Lady was approaching Levi, to discuss any possible security services, that she could offer, but then she suddenly felt someone's hands grab her by her breasts. She exclaimed, swinging back her elbow, aiming right for the face:
    "Son of a bitch!"
But the mischief maker evaded the hit easily and laughed:
"I knew you'll do it! From behind you looked kind of familiar, so I checked. Yep, it's you, alright, I'd recognize that cup size anywhere."
"Oh, shut up, Hacksaw! But how the hell did you wind up in here?"
"The long story, or the short story?"
"The short, I've still business to discuss. What's with all the blood?"
"So, believe it or not, I was captured by some guys in power armor, while going along a trader caravan, not so far from here. Real serious bunch, high end gear and stuff, fitting colors of their armor, actual uniforms. They noticed me being a surgeon, so they spared me, and tied me down. I thought I was going to be dragged down by the sand forever, but not even two minutes have passed, when a frag grenade set off somehow. Since the group moved clustered together, the exploding grenade caught chain reaction with other frag grenades of the other troops, resulting in a big kaboom. Blood, bone splinters, guts and shreds of armor everywhere! I was lucky, that they held me on such a long chain. Then, I took what's still good, my stuff and came across to this place. Pity that Quartermaster Shrapnel is not around, I found some really good ulcer pills, he'd love some of these."
"Yep, that sounds like you. I miss Shrapnel too, in spite of his furnace mouth. Now I need to check in. You're going with me?"
    "Yes, ma'am."
"I'm not your superior anymore, no need for that."
"To me you always are, ma'am."
Lady only smiled, and finally approached Levi:
"Jane Higgins, security services. Be it patrol, escort or defense, I can do it. And this here is what I call doctor Hacksaw."
"SURGEON Hacksaw, I'm also a qualified proctologist. And the name would be Mark Brugger, sir. Just show me who's with... lead poisoning so-to-speak. I'll have them up and running in a jiffy."

She adjusted the satchel around her shoulders, frowning. This place looked like it was in poor comdition, right now. All the better for her. She liked a challenge. And a small settlement was a better fit for her interests. Somone of her skill should be able to be of use, here. Nothing really spelled trouble more than a new settlement. Raiders and Deathclaws seem to just... KNOW you have no experiance with them. She would be happy to work for these folks. Of course, she would have to work a deal with whoever was in charge. Whoever that was.

(( My apologies for disappearing, I don't really have any right to an excuse, so I'll just save Gwen the eternal torment of being and NPC and try to be active again :P))

[fieldbox=Gwendolyn 'Blink' Allen]Glancing about the exterior of the power station, completely oblivious to Raven's presence, Gwen stared upon the pathetic, lifeless robot with a rather sad expression. "Poor eyebot.. I wonder what it's seen.." Shrugging, she stands, skipping away from it. "Wellll... maybe somebody at the vault will fix him. When I go back there. And share everything I found, but doing that now would be no fun.." Holding camera in hand, she continues heading east, again ignoring Raven and whatever he was up to.[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox=George Bywater, blue, dotted]George arrived with the new group in a cheerful mood. He hesitated for a moment before heading for the vault entrance. A vault. George's well buried memories about Vault 11 lit alight in his mind. He stared at the ominous looking vault entrance, his face drained of all colour. He completely froze, and all of his senses seemed to switch off, his gaze set on the entrance. After a few minutes of rigid petrification, George snapped out of it and shook his head clear. He noticed some of the other newcomers talking to a man, so George sluggishly followed suit. He introduced himself after the other two were done. "George Bywater, at your service. I'm a scavenger, and I'd like to join the vau-" He stuttered and stopped at the word vault, his eye twitching and his gaze glazing over for a split second, before recovering. "I'd like to join the vault, are you the man in charge?" George forced a friendly smile. [/fieldbox]

As everyone was talking and working a sudden gunshot rang out from the hill that the vault was being built into. At the top a Bandit with a Sniper Rifle had suddenly crested over and took aim. The shot was perfect, going straight through Levi's forehead, killing him instantly as he fell forward and onto the ground. The Bandit tried to walk back to run away, but had stepped onto a long abandoned Land Mine, causing it to explode and kill the Bandit. As this all finished happened, one Aimee Delfin appeared, the next in line to be the Overseer.

Aiden had been travelling for a long time. He had started walking from Nellis Air Force Base almost 2 years ago, and he was just now getting to what was once called Canal Street in downtown New Orleans. In theory, the trip should've only taken a month, but theory rarely factors in things like needing to find places to sleep, time spent scavenging food, and getting shot at. taking a 20 mile detour to find a radio station playing music he enjoyed probably hadn't helped much in that regard either. Still, he was here now, and that's what mattered. First thing first was to find somewhere safe to get his bearings. As he walked along the long-abandoned trolley tracks, he ducked into a mostly intact storefront with the faded purple "Peet's Coffee" logo etched into the walls and found the least rusted chair.

"The guys still okay in you, buddy?" He asked the eyebot floating silently beside him. The ED-E clone opened a small grill on the front of his frame, showing a large pouch drawn tightly shut. He chirped and beeped excitedly and sat on the table next to Aiden. They'd been travelling together since he left Nellis originally, a gift from one of the former Enclave soldiers they'd given shelter to, and with a few modifications had become a stalwart and steadfast companion. He'd especially proven useful around the edge of Nevada, when his companions had been killed in a fiend raid. It was only through the liberal use of heavy explosives that he'd survived himself. Since then, his mission had been to take the ashes of his companions to where they'd wanted to be put to rest. He'd already made it from Nevada to Colorado to put his super-mutant friend to rest with some tribals, took a ghoul to his family in the Oasis Grove, and was now on his way to spread the ashes of his last two companions - a husband and wife - in Vault 636.

Aiden checked his pipboy map and made sure he was where he thought he was, gathered his belongings, and patted Beau's grill as they sat off. After a good 20 minutes of walking, his pipboy chimed saying he was almost there. Suddenly, an explosion split the air, followed by the sound of wet chunks of flesh hitting the ground. He ran to the sound of explosion, finding the bandit corpse, and went past the hill once he'd confirmed it was killed by a landmine and not something he should be concerned about. He crested the hill, making sure to watch for any more nasty surprises, and came upon the vault's denizens with his hands up. "Umm, hi? I'm not with that guy back there, if it matters."

Aimee had joined the group but kept away from them, she was lazy and while great at talking almost anyone into anything wasn't so amazing at the scout part or building. She did however seemed to have a nose for gardening and found a few seeds for tobacco plants, corn, xander roots, broc flowers, and potato's and carrots. Maybe not the biggest garden in the world but it made her happy. She preferred to smoke tobacco but she would chew to get her fix if needed, the rest she was sure everyone else needed. Food was good, she chuckled softly to herself at that. She watched as the group worked together and even watched the new people come, she jumped at the loud shot and could see his body going down to the ground. She frowned and moved over to his body, "Well that sucks."

Aimee knew that was probably not the best response ever but she was kinda in shock from the sudden death, right walls would be a good thing. She cleared her throat slightly and looked at everyone who was still there including the building Emil, "Well then. If you could start a wall so we are not free range for anyone coming by would be amazing."

She went to the body and collect the small sketches and looked it over before nodding and showing them to Braum, "I believe this is what he had in mind. Once everything is moved into the section please just focus on the water support with Lisa, water will be important as it is needed besides just drinking."

She paused and looked at Lisa, "Just continue on what your doing. If you need anything from the merchant let me know and I will make sure we get what we need. Once the water system is done I want to make sure each person has a section for them to work as we should build down soon and make sure that if for whatever reason we need to close the doors we don't die immediately."

Aiden watched the scene intently, trying to figure out who's in charge. "I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting anyone to be here, Mark and Julia said that the vault was abandoned last they came here, but then again, that was years and years ago." He looked down at the previous overseer's corpse. "Umm, whoever's in charge here now that the boss here got his brain ventilated, I just have a job to do." He cocked a thumb at Beau. "My buddy here is holding the ashes of the people I mentioned, and I was asked to spread them in their childhood vault. After that, I don't really know what I plan to do. I do know I don't want any trouble, and I'll do what you ask to facilitate my mission's smooth completion. If you like, I'm great at building and repairing tech, I'm a half-decent guard, and I can teach you about demolitions." he said, motioning to the grenades hanging off the belts on his chest and hips. "I've got nowhere else I need to be, so if you want to trade my help for yours, I can offer a lot." What he hadn't mentioned was the detonator in his pocket. He wanted to believe these people would be cooperative, but he also wasn't stupid to the ways of the wasteland.

  • Emil was still contemplating what drugs is the cigar infused with, but then he heard a loud shot, and then a powerful bang. He grabbed on his SMG and got himself to the scene of action. He saw the new people now up close, and saw Levi's corpse. He looked confused for a moment, but the Aiden's explanation kind of cleared things up. Damn bandits. He listened to what Aimee has to say, and then replied, staring at the corpse:
"How about if I do one better? I build a checkpoint room, with a roof and windows, so the next time, jokers like that would be forced to come closer, AND then I build a proper perimeter wall. I could add a continuous platform behind the wall, so the guards could have easier time seeing approaching hostiles, as well as being able to use the top of the wall as cover. It will take a while - first the checkpoint room, then the wall, and only then a platform, but better safe than sorry."
Then after hearing what a surgeon has to say, he glared at Mark for his disrespect for the dead.

  • Immediately after the shot, Lady grabbed on her carbine, and aimed for the direction of a shot, she had the bandit in her sights, and was about to pull the trigger, but the bandit stepped on a land mine. After Aiden came, she was still wary of the perimeter, and kept her carbine close. After letting Emil speak, she said:
"Right, either way, I'll watch his back, I don't want any more surprises like this. The sooner he's going to be finished with what he said, the better for all of us."

  • "Well, that's a first." Mark commented, after the whole scene have happened, and all people said their part, lighting up a cigarette, then continued: "Usually things blow up in front of me, not behind me. Nor, do they die so cleanly... I remember my first and last day with Conras Company. The chief of it for some reason got winded up that I called his secretary a nice piece of ass - which was true. He started yelling at me, swinging his arms about wildly, until he unpinned his own grenade. I only hit the floor, while he was still going about his rant - he did not even notice it. Then, kaboom! Man, the whole office of his looked as if someone tried to heat canned tomatoes on a fire, without opening the tin. Well, anyway, that was the closest I ever got to something like this situation... But speaking of this situation - do you have a freezer? I mean, it would be a shame to give all the good spare parts to the worms - might as well disassemble him and put him nice and compact. Who knows when someone might need a spare lung or something. And I'd also suggest to take what he has on him into storage. You can't get too many spare rifles."

Raven Diya
"Well hot damn this place was a good find after all. With all this tech and shit might as well be our poor man's version of a gold mine." He said this to no one in particualr seeing that Gwyen was still on her streak of ignoring his very presence, but the items laid before him more than made up for that fact. The bandits of course were annoying to have dealt since they were an unwelcome surprise, but with a few good shots to the head it was an easy enough job to do. After that he quickly began to search for caps and smokes which he was pleased to find both in great amounts. "Hey kid what do you think we should bring back fir...awwww son of a bitch." Raven said turning around and noticed that Dora the Explorer had run off towards another adventure. Quickly grabbing some stim-packs and the packs of cigarettes he made a mental note of this place and took off after her. Seeing a few tracks from her shoes he sighed and began to track off after Carmen Sandiego hoping that they didn't wander across too much trouble, but knowing his luck it was soon to happen. "This girl causes more problems that Sergeant Kickass after having one bottle too many."

Reactions: Tac
As Gwen kept on exploring to the east, she'd eventually come across a hill, with black smoke pouring out into the sky above. Screams were pretty easily audible, although the language they were yelling in was unclear. From what she could see, it was pretty obvious a village of some sort was in the middle of burning up, the ashes pilling up around the corners were the flames had licked the wood, whilst numerous figures were seen running amidst the burning inferno, their forms looking like shadows or freaking zombie mutants from hell as they ran around. Some were heading for the outskirts, ignoring Gwen's presensce entirely as they seemed more interested in the flames that was piggy-back riding on them.

From the center of the small village, it'd appear to be some form of figure with a gun in both of his hands is walking around relatively patiently, spraying some small traces of fire left and right where ever he'd see resistance, and he yelled out "That's what you get! You raiders, you either raid or enslave, how about I bring over the Bee-Bee-Que on you, yeah?" He kept on marching somewhat throughout the village, glancing left and right occassionally until he came across what seemed to be a woman in shackles. He looked over at the wooden support that was keeping her in place, and raised his right leg upwards somewhat: giving it a few solid kicks until the wooden beam crumbled, allowing the chains around it to fall flatly against the ground.

"T-thank yo-" the woman was able to mutter before the boy extended his right hand and pulled her up from the burning environment. He however didn't really seem to let go, and said to her somewhat loudly "Fancy a dance, miss?" She gave him quite a confused look before he grasped over her mid section, she seemed to be somewhat squirming, but he began to dance half-clumsily amidst the fire almost like being in a ballroom, all whilst he himself tried to do the ball-dance properly. Dodging the heat left and right with the woman giving in once she realised she would be brought to safety. At last, he was close to the hill, his appearance becoming quite clear now: Respirator, Flamethrower, Some form of spooky looking armor and a bandana covering his eyes. He let go of the woman and said "Run on home now, West's just beyond that hill, if you came from there. South, North and such should be rather obvious, yeah?" All whilst the screaming began to die down back in the village, most people either having evacuated the area, or been left to burn inside.

It was at this point the figure shot a glance towards the hill, seemingly trying to see if someone else was there.

Carefully sneaking over the crest of the hill, Gwen kept a steady hand upon her camera as she zoomed in on the nightmarish figure dancing amongst the flames. A short press of a button and a click, and the image was captured forever. The slim piece of photograph sliding from amongst the depths of the camera, she grabs it, shaking it to help it develop as she notices the man now approaching, his partner running of into the distance. As the screams, did, indeed die down, she buries her camera within her coat, her spare hand lingering near her glock. Skipping down the hill as if towards some pre-war park to catch an ice cream truck, she waves, the picture flailing about as she does so. "Hello!" she shouts in a cheery voice, completely oblivious to the utter obliteration of the raider stronghold around her.

The boy looked over towards the approaching figure, and gave her a swift nod. A smile growing over his face as the calmness of the fire crossed through his mind, the heat licking his back as he approached the figure. He extended his right hand outwards, placing his flamethrower in his left and, finger off the trigger as he begins to say "Great to metcha, miss. The name's-" Although he quickly silenced himself as he saw the picture flailing about. He quickly stood still, examining it deeply in his mind. To him, it was as if his entire world had collapsed inwards. Did she just paint the entire scene of what had happened?! He quickly lost grip on his flamethrower completely, letting it dangle freely from his back. He began to back up towards the flames once more, the heat reassuring him that nothing was wrong, although he began to grow more and more scared as she continued to skip down the hill. Was she a shaman? Did she capture my soul in it? What was going on? The thoughts clogged his mind, stones and pebbles filling up his skull as his legs were turning into boiled spaghetti. He yelped out "D-don't hurt me! I'll do, go or whatever it is you want! Just- what did you do to... produce that?!" He pointed towards the picture, and began to undo his respirator, swipping it up on his helmet to reveal a bandanna of some sort covering his nose, eyes and ears.

Gwendolyn continues skipping, her coat flapping violently as she does so. Seeming greatly amused by his reaction of fear, one she is rather interested to see from her photo, causing her to giggle in delight. "Oh, this? I'll make another to show you!" Oblivious of the consequences that doing so might cause, she seizes her camera from under her coat, swiftly snapping another photo of the frightened man. Ignoring him as she shakes it to develop, she presents both of them to him. "Here! Take them!"

He reached over for both of the pictures somewhat reluctantly, taking ahold of them. He looked over both the pictures, this time in clear detail: which added to the horror for him. He looked over the images, and quickly turned it around, examining the back. He said quietly "The uh... name is uh, Pyro. I'm... very thankful, for these... mirrors? Or what do you call them?" his eyes fixated on them as he tries to comprehend their very existence. A mirror... that had somehow stopped time? What device was that she was bearing? A time machine? An alternate world that somehow ensured time would stop to exist, collapsing everything for just one set of painting? It certainly doesn't look like any painting he was familiar with, but the fact the gal had trusted him with these form of powers, calmed him down truemendously. After coming to his senses, his heart began to seize it's sparratic beating, his mind flushed out the pebbles and stones clogging it, and his legs re-solidified. His shaking had stopped, and he once more formed another smile to his face, the burning in the distance ensuring that he'd be able to keep cool, for now.

"Say uh, miss or ma'am, you happen to have some place I can stick to? The Wastes havn't been as friendly to me as you've been, and... I'm kind of hungry after all this." He seemed to regain most of his composure after the initial encounter, even to the point where he began to go back to the fencing, taking ahold of some burnt up bits and pieces with some fire still on 'em, broke himself a piece and walked back to her. He held it up like a torch, although it'd be questionable if it would really come to use or not.

Raven Diya
"Why must walking suck so much?" Raven complained still following the tracks of his wanderlusting companion before stopping to see a whole village...that was on fire. "I don't get paid enough to deal with this shit. *sigh* At least she made a friend in the process so that's good to know." Spotting Gwen having fun with the locals he decided that heading down would probably be a good idea since she didn't always make a good first impression. Hearing the man's request of finding a place to stay he decided that now was as good a time as any to speak up. "If your looking for a good place to stay then yeah we've got a nice little shelter going back at our base." He suggested making his way over towards Gwen, but he kept his guard up just in case this guy had anymore ideas of making a fire that would bring tears to Smokey's eyes. "And you. As much as I love playing Blue's Clues with the next guy i'm afraid we're gonna have to pack up and get back to camp since that gas station was damn good find...also I kinda want to check up on Kickass just to make sure he is doing alright." Raven really was worried since he remembered that mad scientist always was trying to rob the poor guy of his fluffy bits, and he'll be dammed if that happens while he's away.

"Oh! They're called photographs I think! I found this device, called a 'camera' and a booklet about it in some old pre-war home. Oh, you should've seen it! The outside was all destroyed like every other building, and you could see its frame. The framing was a nasty decaying yellow color, but I like to think it was something pretty like sky blue before it was damaged. Anyways, so I went inside, the wooden door was smashed in by the way, nothing to unlock or break into. So I went inside and there I was, inside some open living room area. The stench of rot reeked, as there were a bunch of couches and chairs and stuff covered in mold, a few even had those cool, radiation scorched skeletons of the people who died from the bombs. I like to search the upstairs first, myself, since its always easier to go down than up if I have to escape. So, climbing up these stairs, I went in the first room on my right, and I found..." Continuing on her mindless story, she smiles at Pyro, all whilst nodding along to Raven's comments on 'needing to go back to base' and 'stopping playing Blues Clues'.

'Pyro' seemed to have been quite fond of the tale the gal was telling, his gaze seemingly affixiated on her. He smiled wider as he began to hear the tale, before tilting his head quickly "Bombs? Like the ones they dropped out of those big birds? My elders always told me of something like that... I wasn't sure to believe that birds could drop bombs that would scorch the land so harshly. Then again they did tell me about this one time where there were huge, huge green thingies walking around, humanoid... They were as strong as bears, but Grandpa here keeps telling me just to take some drugs to kill them... Which is why I don't listen to grandpa bones too often when I'm calm. Otherwise he's a cool grandpa, for being just a bone and all." His gaze hopped over quickly to look at the other fellow that was approaching, his grip on his torch tightening somewhat. It eased up slightly when the man revealed that he knew the gal somehow, and mentioned of a place that's safe, their base. He nodded to him, and said "That's great to hear! I just hope by base you don't mean like these raiders... they told me it was a safe spot too, until they tried to put a collar on me..." He stops talking somewhat, and gives the man a somewhat uncomfortable gaze, even though it was most likely hidden by the bandana: The man could've probably taken an easy guess, especially since his mouth seems to have shown something else other than a smile. " Actually, I think it's best if I tag along uh... this gal, pardon. I must've forgotten to ask for your callsign, or name. If you wonder why, she has treated me fairly, and I respect her greatly for this act of kindness... and these weird, 'photographs'." He showed the man the photographs, seemingly trying to see if he would react as heavily as 'Pyro' himself had.

Raven Diya
The only look Raven had upon his face was one that most men have when they have simply given up on the situation at hand. "Yes I see well just make sure to keep her within eye sight cause this once will vanish in the blink of an eye." After saying this he decided that heading back towards that power station was a good idea since there was a lot of supplies still left. He gave a final salute towards the new ally and Gwen before turning around to go back. "If its not the wasteland that gets me then its gonna be one of those two i'm sure of it." Accepting the fact that it was gonna be just another one of those days Raven shook his head and carried on.

~Gwendolyn 'Blink' Allen~

Gwen listens intently to Pyro, her face contorting in various levels of curiosity as he speaks, only stopping her vivid display of expressions and general hyperactivity activity as he tenses up when Raven approaches. She turns, backing away a bit so she can keep both of them in her field of view as she listens to their short exchange, showing general surprise when Pyro insists on accompanying her, and, suppressing a snicker at Raven's pun, turns to Pyro, beaming. "Oh! Oh! Does this mean I can wandering around instead of going back with you, Raven? You can tell everyone what we found, and do that thing where you grab everything valuable and bring it back.. and Pyro and I can go find more cool stuff! And I can take more pictures and stuff, and then we can also grab important things and bring them back. Oh! like those settlements we saw from atop the hill, Pyro and I can go, like, talk to the people who live there and stuff, and ask them about other places nearby! Wouldn't that be fun, Pyro?"
