It's been many years since superheroes rose up to protect the Earth and its inhabitants. It all began with the creation of Captain America during WWII, and since then more heroes, and subsequently, villains, have made themselves known. Some heroes such as the Avengers and Justice League have made themselves known to society, whether that was desired or not. While others, like the X-men, have remained in hiding. Either way, the world is no longer in the dark about the existence of heroes or villains.

For decades, these heroes have courageously defended and protected the citizens of Earth, along with many other planets in the universe. The current reign of heroes has reached their end. Some have died in service, while others desire to hang up their cape and retire. Many of these heroes could not leave innocent people defenseless and in return decided to pass on their legacy to their children.

Many of these children attended Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters during their younger years, up through High School. A good starting ground that helped these students learn how to hone their abilities, while also getting a proper education. Professor X always desires the best for his students, wanting them to have bright futures to pursue whatever they wish… Be that a hero or a lawyer.

Although Prof. X's school was marvelous in many ways, some heroes still didn't think it was enough for when another attack presents itself. So Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark came together and funded the Descendant Academy. An elite, highly secretive facility that focused on the intense and vigorous training of the worlds finest heroes. Recruits were pulled from the most powerful and prestigious of proteges, only gaining entrance into the Academy if chosen. Bruce and Tony are highly selective about who joins the academy wanting uniquely useful and talented individuals

These Descendants come from all walks of life. Some are children of the most infamous and powerful heroes in the universe, some of simple human vigilantes and some… are even children of villains trying to get a clean slate for their family name.

Myla is a vigilante by night, and similarly to her father, her identity manifested from the people of Hell's Kitchen. She does not care for the pomp and circumstance of it all, nor want the fame and notoriety from it. In her eyes, her abilities are a gift and should be used for something better, not something she is scared of and lets control her life. But unlike her father, she isn't Hell's Angel, it is a mask she dawns to protect those she cares about while helping those who need it. Her life as Hell's Angel is important but not her focus. She doesn't want it to control her or for it to somehow come back to ruin the life she has built for herself.

Those who know Matt Murdock know that he has had his fair share of girlfriends. He was never one known to have a stable relationship and a lot of that had to do with his Daredevil home life balance. But yet, somehow, he managed to not only find Milla Donovan, but get married. Despite it all, she stuck beside Matt through thick and thing, and was quite possibly one of the bravest people he knew.

That was until she was dosed with Mr. Fear's toxin. No matter how brave she was, she couldn't fight it. Unfortunately the toxin was known to make those infected with it insane. Matt tried everything he could to get Milla back to her old self therapy, medication… searching for a cure. But nothing showed any results. And with no other choice, she had to be sent to an insane asylum.

Unknown to Matt, Milla was in the early stages of pregnancy. So, 9 months later the asylum gave him a daughter to raise amongst his chaotic life and no mother. He thought about giving her up for adoption, or letting her uncle Foggy raise her. But one she was in his arms and he felt the beat of her heart, he couldn't let her go. He gave her a name that was similar to her mother's, hoping it was the only trait she got from her.

Most of Myla's childhood was spent with her Uncle Foggy because her dad was often so busy. But as she got older she started showing signs of being similarly skilled as her father. And it was around then that it seemed more and more heroes were dying or disappearing. He wanted an ordinary life for Myla, but they lived in a world that was so dependent on heroes that she would be more at risk pretending like she was normal than she would be if he trained her to be better than him.

Myla soaked up every moment she had with her dad, learning everything he had to teach her. It took sometime before her father was comfortable enough to let her work alone. And once she did it wasn't long before optimism began to rise in Hell's Kitchen with the arrival of a new hero. That was enough for Myla… But when word came from the Academy, with heroes at an all time low, she had no choice but to accept the invitation.

While in this demonic form, his face fades away only leaving a skull set ablaze. Like this, he appears as a hell spawn itself, often covered in hellfire with a voice so terrifying it can frighten the bravest of men. James's powers are limited in this form while he is in control but if the spirit takes over it is said his capabilities are limitless.

Jameson was the first born child to Johnny Blaze and his wife Roxanne after his father had been cured of being the Ghost Rider. Not too long after he came along, they also had his sister Emma. Growing up, he followed in his father's shoes, growing up in a circus. But it wasn't just any circus, but the one his family owned. It made everyday like something out of a story, especially when other kids didn't grow up like he did.

As a boy, James wanted nothing more than to be just like his father. He was riding dirt bikes and whatever else his parents would allow when he was still in single digits. And as he got older, he too, stepped into the ring of being a stunt rider. Of course, this nearly gave his mother a heart attack but she saw what joy it brought him to share in something with his father that she allowed it… most of the time.

Shortly after James became an adult, his father grew ill. And it was only then that Johnny told him about his past and the Ghost Rider. The toll the spirit took on him was sending him to an early grave and he wanted his son to be able to take care of the family once he was gone. His father didn't share anything else, not wanting to worry him.

That night, Mephisto came to James. He spoke of how Johnny was corrupted. That there wasn't much left of his soul and he was set to be damned in the afterlife. And that's when he made the deal… The deal for James to be host to the spirit and become the Ghost Rider. If he did that, Mephisto would save his father's soul and promise him peace after death. Without a moment's hesitation he accepted the proposal which change his life forever.

The next morning, Johnny awoke no longer sick and rejuvenated. But when he saw James, he knew. He was angry and disappointed that he would accept a deal with the devil for himself, repeating his own mistakes. In a fit of rage, his father kicked him out and said he wanted nothing to do with James.

Since then, he's lived on his own, keeping his promise to protect his father. Even if that meant never seeing him again.

Zehara's cheetah form is much like what one assumes with a werewolf. She becomes covered in fur from head to toe, with cat ears, fangs and claws that can tear through most anything. She has the ability to change into her cheetah form at will, unlike her mother, who, at first, could only accomplish this by consuming blood. Although she can do this as she chooses, that doesn't sate the hunger that comes with the form. The cheetah has in satiable bloodlust, in particular, for human flesh. And while Zehara is able to keep this in check, there are situations where the cheetah takes over. When that happens she is no longer in control as the beast ravages, murders and feasts.

Barbara Ann Minerva had been the cheetah for quite some time. She was an avatar for a cheetah God, revered by a tribe in the African jungles, which restored her young and granted her unnaturally long life. However, there was an unforeseen complication. The ritual calls for a virgin, which Barbara was not. This made her exceedingly weak when not in her cheetah form, and only able to transform under the light of a full moon.

Her travels took her far across the world, chasing after Wonder Woman and her lasso of truth. Barbara used many false identities and skills in archaeology and anthropology to seek out and study more about Diana and the amazons. At one point in time her search led her to Algeria, where she met Khalil el Sayid on a dig site in Batna. It was a short romance that only spanned a few months before Barbara was on to bigger and better things. She was never one much for love and she was far too power hungry to let a man get in the way of that… Or a pregnancy for that matter.

She was long gone before she realized she was with child. And to no surprise, Barbara considered abortion, but was too far along to rid herself of the parasite. So, for nine months, she remained hidden away, not wanting to be seen as weak or a target as she carried the child until birth. Then, with unnamed baby, she traveled back to Algeria and left the burden with Khalil, to be his problem and not hers.

Unknown to Barbara, her struggled bond to the Cheetah God would be a non issue. Since the God never properly bonded with her due to her not being a virgin at the time of the ritual, it clung to the fetus of her daughter. So, with the birth of Zehara, a piece of the God went with the child, laying dormant until the avatar came of age.

Zehara's life was plain and ordinary, growing up with her father on various archaeological dig sites. She loved to learn and work alongside him. And whenever she asked about her mother, her father never lied or was dishonest, but simply stated that she left and wouldn't return. But at the time he had no idea how wrong he would be.

On the first full moon after her sixteenth birthday, the Cheetah God awoken. All of its power left Barbara and fled into Zehara's virgin vessel. With a true, strong bond, she had complete control over the God's powers, even being able to shit against the moon, whenever she desired. But with it came a bloodlust like nothing she had known before. It took every once of control within her to calm the beast and tame it.

For two years, she kept this a secret, even from her father, hoping to protect him from herself and whatever other dangers might come. But it only lasted so long before her mother showed back up. Angered at her loss of power, Barbara demanded the Cheetah back by using Khalil as blackmail. But it wasn't in Zehara's power to will over the Cheetah God, no matter how much she tried. In turn Barbara killed Khalil and gave her no choice but to kill her mother.

Since then, Zehara has kept to herself, wondering around the world and trying to be a better person than her mother. All the while the feral beast inside scratches at the wall begging to be let loose.

Rather than Reed passing down his suit to William, together they created a similar yet more advanced suit. Made of unstable molecules, the suit is attuned to Will's powers and able to adapt with him and is also insulated to protect him from electrical assaults. Like his father's, it contains a data processing and telemetry system integrated which can monitor his vitals, location and atmosphere. It includes an interactive interface through the gauntlets with a sensor that can scan around Will and relay information about the surrounding area, including through walls. His father also gave him a universal translator which can decipher and interpret languages, including aliens and terrestrials, into his common language.

Unlike others he knows, William had a very simple life growing up. Out of respect for those around him, he tries not to mention it or bring it up. He was the first born child to Reed Richards and Sue Storm, which made all major headlines. The question on everyone's minds was if he would be normal like everyone else, or would he too grow into fantastic abilities and protect the world like his parents.

For several years, Will showed no powers or abilities of any kind, beyond his genius level intellect that mirrored his fathers. Then his brother Franklin was born, his powers emerged at quite a young age, leading Will to believe that, perhaps, it skipped him. The media attention went to his brother, who quickly showed immense power which ranked him as an omega-level mutant.

This gave Will, the quiet and peace he desired, not wishing to be part of the mainstream media that consumed much of his family's life. It wasn't until he was fourteen, that his powers began to manifest. It started small, like reaching for a glass that was just out of arms length, but quickly it matured and grew until it rivaled his father's own abilities.

Once they manifested, the tabloids began to remember William, dubbing him Jr. Fantastic, because not only did he have his father's powers but people often said he looked like a younger version of Mister Fantastic. And as his abilities evolved, Reed took him under his wing, showing him the vast array of capabilities powers like theirs could accomplish. And in their free time, together, they built a better more high tech suit for Will, that would protect and attune to him.

When Reed had nothing more he could teach his son, he sent his son to the Descendant Academy, to study under his old friend Tony Stark. Unfortunately, Will was part of the last class at the academy before it was shut down and the International Hero Association was created under the U.N. Since his days at the academy, William got several PhD's and aided the IHA when called upon.

Tobias doesn't have the same pomp and circumstance as other heroes... or villains. He doesn't parade around in a themed suit or mask his identity. But he also doesn't broadcast that he is a mutant, or who his father is. He does have a helmet that his father made him, like his own. He keeps it with him, but Tobias rarely is in the same crowd as heroes, let alone telepaths.

Tobias Lehnsherr, the accident. He never was much in the eyes of his father. Of course, women were always throwing themselves at the feet of the all powerful Magneto, and who was he to argue? The man wasn't please though when an indiscretion later in his life resulted in a child. A doorstep baby. Not something the man wanted, but Tobias came from his loins. He couldn't very well send him to an orphanage or whatever else.

He wasn't wanted, and Erik didn't have to say it for Tobias to know. It wasn't like he was the man's first child. He knew of another pair of mutant children somewhere that were his siblings. But, no matter how much Tobias asked to meet them, Erik wouldn't allow it. He had enough on his plate for two children, let alone three. At least the Maximoffs had a mother to take care of them, and he didn't have to be bothered by them, but not this boy.

More often then not, Erik was off on Brotherhood business, leaving him in the care of whichever mutant was free at the time. His favorite was Mystique. Maybe it was the harbored love she still felt for his father, or what but she actually took care of him. She was the closest thing to a mother figure he had in his life. She tried to justify why his father was the way he was, but he didn't care.

As he grew older, Tobias seemed to be a late bloomer. No evidence of powers or anything else of worth. Erik and some of the other Brotherhood mutants looked at him as a burden that wouldn't allot to anything. He'd turn out like the humans they despised, worthless and in the way. On many occasions Erik threatened to send Tobias off to an orphanage because "even Charles Xavier wouldn't take someone as useless as him." Mystique talked him out of it, time and time again, but how much longer would that last?

Tobias always had a knack for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. When he was fifteen, he stumbled upon an altercation between his father and Mystique. Something deep down in him boiled, exploding out at his father when he tried to strike at her. All the pent up power within him unleashed on his father, an explosion of magnetic waves. The surprising thing… His father wasn't mad but ecstatic. From that moment Tobias was no longer useless but a prodigy… an heir.

Erik spent all his free time from that moment training and pushing Tobias past his breaking point and back again. He looked at his son as the ultimate weapon, a legacy to continue on in his place when the time would come. So, when Tobias got the recruitment letter to the academy, Erik saw it as the perfect opportunity to put a plan in the academy… Tobias seeing it as a chance to escape. Mystique wasn't happy about his departure but knew it was for the best. Unlike his father, over the several years he's been at the school she's made visits and calls regularly, while his father only checks in wanting more information about the Descendants and their next move.

Just as his mother was, Kane is an expert assassin. His life, blade, and skills are devoted to dealing with death at the behest of others. His Katana is often edged in poisons to aid in rendering quick and crippling blows. Kane's specialty is a swift and quiet death, and if a fight must be had, he aims for a quick one. His skills and place in the League of Assassins rumor him to be cold and senseless, but the truth could never be further from that. The way he carries out his missions, as calloused as they might seem, is mercy.

He deeply cares for others, and his soul is genuinely kind and endearing. He defends those he cares for in ways that are not noticeable, and to mask his weakness, he treats even those he looks to with fondness with indifference.

Kane speaks Japanese, American-English, and Vietnamese fluently. However, he lacks basic literacy in English and Vietnamese.

He was born in Gotham City but only knows his father. His father took him to Japan shortly after Cheshire gave birth to him. He has a brother and a sister from different fathers, and he does not know them. He does not know the reason for the separation, only that he would be set on a different path from that of his siblings. In Japan, Kane was raised in the culture, and traditionally so. His father was part of a clandestine sect of the Yakuza; one in which those with more superhuman abilities were accepted. While his father was not a mutant, he was a human with extraordinary ability just like Cheshire. Some say this likeness is what drew Jade to him in the first place.

After the death of his father during an intra-gang war, he sought after his mother. He had found some clues to her whereabouts and chased the rumors all the way to Gotham City. At the age of 22, he settled into the gang lifestyle just as his father did. For eight years, he caused quiet chaos in the city on behalf of his Master. He was not recruited into the League of Assassins until he was thirty years old, shortly after one of its agents destroyed Gotham's Yakuza faction.

Since his recruitment, he's been more or less like a quiet passing gale. The others see less of him, and perhaps it is in their best interest. He no longer chases after his mother, but she is still there - somewhere in the League - watching him. He can feel it in his bones.

The bulk of Aria's power comes from her mother. She does not have the same goddess-like control, but her power is impressive. She considers her abilities to be extreme, and they can become uncontrolled if too saturated by emotion. Exercising minimal use of such catastrophic forces is taxing on her body, so she chooses to minimalize her abilities.

When it comes to genius, mechanical prowess, and some mystical ability - her father takes all of the credit. She's not as logically-minded as Forge in some ways, but her brain recognizes patterns, numbers, and more. It doesn't help with her timid nature, but she can get herself out of situations so long as she can relax and tap into this calm rational side of her. Along with the tactful mind of her mother, her intellect allows her to go beyond Storm's tactical awareness. Forge implied that she'd be a great leader, if only she weren't so scared of failure.

Aria is the child of a short romance between Forge and Ororo Munroe. She was raised by her mother due to a falling out between her parents. By the time Aria was born, Storm decided that she would return to T'Chala shortly after many of the mutants died or lost their powers. She took the child with her. She'd be born and raised in Wakanda where she developed her abilities as a Tempest just as her mother. However, Storm would return to the X-Men to assist with a problem that had arisen, so she took Aria with her. By this time, Aria was a six.

After the situation with the X-Men was resolved, Cyclops asked Storm to choose between them and Wakanda. Before making this decision, she told Forge about Aria and her plans to have her stay with him. Storm was too entrenched in politics, and the situation in Wakanda put her daughter's life at risk. Naturally, he agreed to take the six-year-old girl, and when Storm left to go back home, he'd raise Aria for the remainder of her childhood. Her mystical ability was not as heightened as his, but he tapped into what she had to train her in it.

Around the time of Aria's 19th birthday, Bishop ambushed Forge by shooting him. After this, Forge seemingly disappeared into thin air, and he was pronounced dead. Aria became untrusting of her fellow mutants, but she had nowhere to go. The world of Mutants was failing, and she was lucky that she hadn't lost her power or died along with the many that did. She found her father a year later, insane and obsessed with finding his notes and research on time travel that had been stolen by Bishop. Before she could leave him be, he locked her in his home with him using impenetrable security measures. It was for her own good, he always told her.

It wasn't until Cable found them that she was able to finally escape the hell of her father's loosened grip on sanity. During that time he had pushed her and pushed her - focused on making her powers more intense. He brainwashed her into thinking that everyone would betray her and that no one could be trusted, and this clashed with her more nurturing and caring personality. Her lack of trust soon reached the paranoid heights of her father's. Even after they parted ways, no one could help crack two years of being trapped with her dad.

Evan McCulloch was never the type to settle down and take a wife. Wasn't his style, nor did he have the time for it. He spent a majority of his time trying to take out the Flash or designing more mirrors. So, Ross' mother was by no means a special woman in Evan's eyes. She was just a release, a single night away from the lab. You can imagine Evan's surprise when 9 months later she was at his door, proclaiming the child was his.

At first he turned the woman away, not even remembering the night he shared with her. But after a couple months, the baby returned without the mother. The woman died at the hands of people trying to get to Evan. Somehow the baby was missed or maybe sent as a message. Either way it was his burden now. He was never father material, too busy and not exactly role model material. On many occasions he left Ross at McCulloch Orphanage, with the woman who raised him many years ago.

By the time Ross reached double digits, he already started to become light handed. From petty theft of the other children in the orphanage, to pickpocketing strangers when he was allowed to go to the playground, he quickly gained some of his father's talents. He'd rather spend his time causing trouble rather than focusing on his studies in school. He never did his homework or study but somehow managed to pass his passes with ease.

When he was 16 the crimes got more serious and so did the punishments. One pinched one too many things and finally ended up in prison. What potentially bright future he had, flushed down the toilet with some… minor grand theft auto. But, a few days into his sentence everything changed. Ross was brushing his teeth just before he'd have to go back to his cell when a hand came straight through the mirror and yanked him in.

Safe to say… It was a surprise and nearly gave Ross a heart attack. It was then that he found out the whole truth about his flakey absentee father. Did he forgive him? No. But it was more than love for his father that kept him around. Evan spoke of training him so that he could take up the reigns and inherit all that he is. Ross wanted to be able to accomplish what his father could. So, without argument he trained under his father for nearly a decade… Until he got his recruitment to the Descendants Academy. His father no longer the young man he was, gave up his equipment to his son. Evan saw the academy as a way for his son to become the best he could then follow in the villainy footsteps he left behind. While Ross saw it as a way to become better than his father ever was, move out of his shadow and become his own person.

When the academy closed, Ross had no where to go. It was his home and life for so many years. No matter how much he had changed, he couldn't help but revert back to his old ways of thievery to get by. It wasn't what he wanted to do any longer, but his past had made it impossible for him to get a job. Hero work didn't pay the bills. And considering his dad being a villain along with his own colorful past made him unsuitable for the I.H.A. So, for the better part of a decade Ross lost pieces of himself and reluctantly embraced his criminal nature.

Lexa's skills, much like her father's, are deeply rooted in animalistic savagery. She exhibits self-healing capabilities, but they are not as swift as Sabretooth's or Wolverine's, they are still inhuman. When her feral impulses are activated, so are retractable canine teeth and claws. These are made of bone, not of adamantium, and grow near two and a half inches more than her father's. Her senses are similar; acute and superhuman, allowing her to track her prey like the predator she is meant to be. Unlike her father, she does not appear to have superhuman strength, but she does possess unnatural speed and grace. Her animalistic characteristics are wildly feline, and her eyes will take on an amber color when the claws and teeth come out.

Lexa was one of the fortunate few that were raised, in full, by their biological mutant parent. Victor was very attentive to his daughter, even for the savage he always has been. She is a product of a woman that he met in Quebec, but she was captured by a member of the Weapon X project before the team of the X-Men fought and killed everyone involved in the program. The project kidnapped Sabretooth's pregnant fiancé, hoping that they could experiment on the child while it was still in the womb. However, Sabretooth - along with Wolverine and several other Weapon X projects - went in and retrieved her. Lexa's mother was dying, and she asked Victor to take the baby out and leave the facility. Because it was her dying wish, Sabretooth performed a crude C-section and saved the baby, leaving the facility to succumb to the X-Men later.

Cold Phase's abilities are a healthy mixture of Iceman and Shadowcat. Like his father, he can shape, bend, and manipulate ice at will by utilizing the moisture in the air and cooling it to extreme levels. This can be done in milliseconds, appearing as though ice forms out of "nowhere". His body operates at sub-zero temperatures, which make him cold to the touch while his powers are in use. When he is not utilizing his abilities, his body still performs at a colder level, leaving him cool to the touch and susceptible to near-fatal conditions in even extreme heat such as heat strokes. When his body is at subzero levels, he is impervious to even inhumanly hot conditions.

He can phase through objects like his mother. Like her, he must be able to hold his breath when passing through solid objects. Accidentally materializing in a solid object would result in death. He has combined his mother and father's powers by learning to materialize at subzero temperatures, freezing any object that he passes through.

The tale of Kitty Pryde, Robert Drake, and Jean-Paul Beaubier is not worth going into detail. Shadowcat and Iceman's love was brief. They were never married, and they didn't date long. Their romance wasn't long enough for Robert to know Kitty gave birth to Louis Pryde. She was in her early twenties, and for a couple of years, she raised the boy on her own. Kitty resented Robert for breaking up with her, so he didn't realize that he had a son. Robert finally saw her with a three-year-old child out on the streets, and when he finally came clean about his sexuality - Kitty felt extremely guilty. All this time she thought it was her, but it hadn't been his choice all along. The pair sat down at a nearby cafe, and that's when Kitty came clean about the child. He came clean about being married to Northstar.

Kitty was having a hard time with the boy. His body was unique and he was always at the hospital for one reason or the other. It was agreed that Louis would be in better care with his father, so over the next few months, they arranged to give him full custody. Of course, Kitty would visit Louis often. He shared many holidays, summers, and weekends with his mother. It was a very happy arrangement, unlike most split parents with kids. Northstar was not opposed to this, as they'd not be able to have children naturally anyway. Louis was still young enough to raise as his own.

The family he would be used to growing up with was two dads and one mom, and that gave bullies a lot of reasons to beat him up. During school, he spent a lot of time on his own. Everyone thought he was weird, and since the bullies loved him, he was avoided by everyone else. Iceman and Northstar did not want Louis to go to Xavier's School, as being a student there was more likely to end in death than being bullied in a regular school. This became a source of argument between all three parents, and they eventually agreed to let him go to the Xavier Institute.

He only stayed until he was eighteen, then bolted out of there. Despite the horrid bullying he had received from elementary school until the ninth grade, he was a very secure and happy guy. Happy with family. Happy with his own life. He generally enjoyed everything about living. He was not confused about who he was or where he came from and maintained a great relationship with all three of his parents. In fact, all four of them joined up together to rid San Francisco of vile villains! It was truly a family business. After a few years, Northstar and Iceman returned to Canada, and Louis decided to go with them in order to live a new experience in a new place.

This last year, however, had not gone as well. He moved back to the United States at the age of thirty-one, returning to his roots in San Francisco with his mother. But when he arrived, his mother was nowhere to be found. Her apartment was empty and he couldn't get ahold of her. He called his fathers in Canada, and they told him that they would arrive to help him locate her. Northstar and Iceman searched for Shadowcat for many months, and then the rumors of disappearing mutants began to trickle through the hero network. Before he knew it, his father left on a tip and they never returned.

Charlotte has many of her father's abilities; her greatest skill being mental manipulation and thought projection. However, with such great powers comes something dark - the ability to abuse it. Like Xavier, Charlotte has a dark side that will go to extremes in order to achieve an end that she feels is just. Like her father, she has committed grave sins against those she has once called friends. Like her father, she has had many accidents that have cost minds, lives, and trust. She no longer trusts herself - not even with her own self. She is very powerful, and even though she tried to be good, it's easy to be bad. She does have a power-driven darker person, but anyone that has seen it has simply forgotten.

While Charlotte does not take her father's name (for so many reasons), she has taken one of his most obscure aliases, Entity. Her mother is unknown, but it is assumed that she either died or fled from a mutant-related incident. For most of her life, she was raised by stepparents in Syracuse, New York. They were not as many parents of genetically gifted children; they were nurturing and well-versed in her abilities. It is very likely that Xavier had secretly coached these parents to assume the roles of caregiver to an especially gifted mutant. Charlotte never asked the questions, and no one freely gave her answers. She simply felt that her life was given for a reason, and she sought to carry on her father's legacy.

There aren't many tragedies in her life. Like her father, she became a civil rights activist on behalf of mutants and powered humans everywhere. She graduated from Columbus with her degree in politics with a Human-Mutant specialization at age 21, having entered college at 17. Like her father, she is intellectually gifted, and she studied hard with a great academic focus. As she went on to pursue politics, she focused on intra-mutant relations to attempt to fix a broken system. When she gained enough recognition, she settled into the political seat as the Head of the Department of Mutant Rights and Relations. She believed that if she could right the wrongs in New York, then other states would start to change, too.

She did a lot of work behind the scenes as well, using her mutant abilities to help other heroes. However, she'd only be known as Entity; a voice in the head, a scary broadcast that spanned blocks at a time. At times, her gift was likened to a sort of mental virus. Her face has never been seen, and she keeps it that way for good reason. Some of her abilities are utilized to 'coerce humans, and she has a little bit of guilt for having to go to such extremes. In her mind, so long as she wasn't violent, it was alright. Peace could never be achieved through diplomacy alone.

She has been the target of extremists on both sides; human and mutant. For the sake of saving face, she has allowed herself to be shot at, assaulted, and more. The question on everyone's mind is: Is Charlotte human or mutant? No one knows, and she doesn't believe that she should have to make it known. The Humans would only hate her, the mutants would believe she is a betrayer.

She's been in the same political position for many years now, only now she's attempting to find out what extremist group is irradicating heroes.

Ross is a thief and criminal turned somewhat good. He never would have turned his life around on his own, but the academy helped him see that there was a better way that following in his father's footsteps. While he can be arrogant, often biting off more than he can chew, in the end he is just a human with some fancy gadgets.

Petra's primary ability is her magic, which takes on a red glow that moves with her control, allowing her the powers of telekinesis and flying. Although she's got an iron grip on her powers, they have a tendency to grow stronger and more uncontrollable with her emotions, so she's careful to watch herself. The main difficulty lies in her self control, as her telepathy ensures that she can hear thoughts quite clearly; the need to maintain her mental blocks and keep herself in check at the same time can be quite draining, not to mention how draining magic can be when used on a large scale.

Wanda Maximoff had always been a powerful woman; there was little she wanted out of life, but she could get what she wanted with little trouble when she wanted it. So when she wanted a child, it didn't matter that Vision couldn't give her one. She had her magic, and that was enough.

After nine months a beautiful little girl was born, named in the memory of Wanda's brother. From the start, it was clear that Petra shared her mother's powers, little crackles forming at the infant's fingertips whenever she was feeling particularly fussy. But she also developed some semblance of control along with her motor skills, learning to pick things up with her magic. She started small, with wooden blocks and stuffed toys, and as she grew learned to handle the weight of heavier targets. Wanda could feel her own powers draining away, bit by bit, into the girl, knowing that she would grow more and more human as her daughter grew more powerful.

Petra's power manifested in terrifying, often uncontrollable ways. For the most part, she was an agreeable, well-behaved child, but when her emotions got stronger, she'd lose control of her abilities, a red glow enveloping her and things breaking without even being touched. It was dangerous, and a risk to everyone around Petra. Terrified that Petra would lose control of herself and hurt someone badly, Wanda dedicated herself to teaching her daughter to rein her abilities in, to understand her powers and control them intricately.

Easier said than done. Petra's training was strenuous, and she took failure hard. Having understood her mother's warnings of the destructive effects of her magic when turned outward, Petra switched instead to taking her anger out on herself, her powers turning inward to form physical injuries in the form of scratches and cuts, sometimes to the bone. It was terrifying to watch, the way she'd just simmer with rage and cuts would split her skin right open.

It took a long time, but Petra eventually gained control, and the day came when the last self-inflicted injury sealed itself shut and another one never formed in its place. That was the day Wanda breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that she could let Petra take over her position. With that level of control achieved, Petra was sent away to the Academy to train with other budding superheroes, spending a good portion of her teen years learning to work with others, although she never really made many friends with them. Terrified of losing control, Petra built a barrier around her emotions, sealing herself away. She left the Academy upon its closure, got herself registered, and officially gained her title as the new Scarlet Witch when she was 18, gradually taking over her mother's place among the order of heroes. And now Wanda is almost entirely human, with Petra being the only person available to respond to the summons.

While honing extraordinary superhuman strength, durability, and senses, the bulk of Hakan's abilities is shamanistic by nature. He has "Spirit Eyes", which allow him to track footprints as if they are visible on any surface, and grants him brief "visions" of scenes in his immediate vicinity. For instance, he can go into the woods, and if there was a violent event, he can actually see up to a few seconds of it like a flashback. He can also hear the noises and smell the scents as if it were an out-of-body experience and he was there himself. He can also heal, summoning the magic of his ancestors and using the powers of nature and its spirits that surround him. Like his sister, Catori Moonstar, he can fly. He also shares a telepathic link with only her.

A mix of Apache and Cheyenne genealogy, Hakan grew up separate from his sister at an Apache reservation in Arizona. Mirage and Warpath met in a joint mission between Mirage's New Mutants and Warpath's Weapon X program as a connection through Wolverine. Once they saw each other, it really was love at first sight. While they were on separate teams, from then until the time of Mirage's end, they were together and bore two children. Unfortunately, an unforeseen circumstance led Mirage to give birth in North Dakota. She died shortly after holding her newborn, which led to both Warpath and Hakan not knowing what happened to Mirage or the baby. Hakan was eight at this time. His father left to search for Mirage and his daughter, leaving the boy to be raised by the tribe.

Tribal life suited Hakan very well. While he had grown up to be tall and brawny, with all the blunt force capabilities of his father, he was actually quite spiritual. He went through life with more "sensitive" abilities such as healing, animal kinship and empathy, and the ability to truly connect to his ancestral heritage. At the age of eighteen, he officially became the shaman of his tribe, giving his people much-needed access to healing and protection.

At 25, his father finally got news through Wolverine that Mirage had succumbed to a mission-related injury with the New Mutants. He was also informed that she had given birth to a healthy baby girl in North Dakota in one of the Cheyenne tribes. Warpath went to Hakan and together they traveled to North Dakota in hopes of reuniting with what was left of their family. Hakan was... not very surprised, to say the least. For many, many, many years - for almost as long as he could remember, he had conversations with a girl that looked like his mother through his dreams. He thought that it was his mother - the youthful spirit of her anyway. He had already known that this meant his mother might be dead, especially after consulting with some of his tribe's elders.

Their excursion to North Dakota would have them searching in all tribes for Catori, but to no avail. When they finally made it to Mirage's last destination, they were informed that Catori left the reservation seeking higher education and cultural competence for their people. Hakan and Warpath were back to square one.

However, his telepathic link grew stronger now that they were in North Dakota and closer to Catori. He told his father he would live temporarily in the state and search for her there and Warpath could tend to Mirage's funeral rites. Catori was now 18-years old, and what he thought was a spirit communicating with him through dreams, visibly morphed into a version of his mother - yet not at the same time. He knew, deep down in his gut, that it must be his sister. Finally, he asked her name and she gave it. Catori. Catori Moonstar.

She invited him for coffee where they were finally united as siblings in their physical form. They spoke for many days, but in the end, were two different people. With the promise that they'd keep in touch forever, she went to the University of South Dakota to pursue a law degree, and he went back to his tribe. They were reunited when he was thirty-three. Hakan contacted Catori to inquire about his father, but like many heroes... he simply... disappeared. After two years of searching all across the globe, and through spiritual harkening, Hakan would lead both him and Catori to the Descendant Academy.

Like her brother, she is both Apache and Cheyenne by blood. She is the child of Mirage and Warpath. Mirage died minutes after giving emergency birth her to on a Cheyenne Reservation in North Dakota, having succumbed to mission-related injury. At a young age, Catori knew that there was something wrong in this world - with how the Indigenous people lived among the "others". She didn't understand it. She was harassed and bullied in public school, and constantly targeted for her strange looks and weird food. It wasn't just white people, either, it was people of all colors and ethnicities. She wasn't sure what made her so.... so much different from everyone else.

So many teens in her tribe succumbed to drugs and alcohol, and soon, women were disappearing from the land with no word on what happened to them. Rumors started to run rampant that the girls were going into prostitution or being trafficked for their "exotic" beauty, and of course, the ease of access. No one cared about the Indigenous women, so no one would miss them. The police insisted that the girls and women were runaways, tired of living life in trailer parks and poverty, or whatever else they imagined. Catori knew differently, though. These girls were disappearing, and no one cared about them. When she came into womanhood, as termed by her first period, she began to see... omens. Visions. Owls shifting into thin inky men with golden fingers, moons as black as the night itself, black voids among a sea of stars, and more. She began to feel fear growing in her own tribe as if it were a thick and suffocating blanket.

It had always been hard for Catori to accept herself and her Indigenous roots after spending a childhood being griefed by others. So, when the time came for her to go to college, she went. It was easy. She had great grades in high school and studied hard. She decided to go into law and live in the city where she can figure out what she could do to help her own people. At this time, she also met her brother, Hakan, and her father, Warpath for the first time. During her time at the University, Warpath would train her in Mirage's psionic abilities.

She joined her brother in the search for her father's disappearance, and ultimately, joined him at the Descendant Academy.

To say that, Josiah, the one name - has abilities would be a lie. Josiah is all but a name, but there are at least three other identities that exist as well. There is a gentle soul that longs for things that most people do; a quiet mind, hope, softness. There is also the genius, the unafraid and brutal villain, and then there is Josiah - like a slab of cold stone that just exists. Different personalities bring different abilities and weaknesses ranging from superhuman strength and pain tolerance as the brutish villain to the chemical savvy of the genius. There is but one weakness to tie them all together, and that is: Who will the people that he, Josiah cares for or hates, get from one minute to the other? Who will come out and claim the name Josiah?

People like to joke that insanity must run in the family. As dark as that is, it's nothing more than a vicious cycle of trauma passed down to the children from their parents. Josiah was not an exception to this rule. He does not know his parents. He couldn't care less about their existence, and he has never asked about them. Sometimes he wonders where he came from and why his life had become as it is now, but it's just that - childish wonder. Harley was too crazy to keep him, and because Joker was a highly abusive figure, she decided it was better to dump the baby in the nearest bin rather than earn Joker's wrath. So, that's what she did. A baby's cries alerted a couple that passed by, and they gave the child to the state for handling.

Foster life did not suit him at all. After all, he was the perfect child for bullies. For a while, Josiah allowed the aggressors to do their thing, but eventually, he got them back. One day, at the humble age of sixteen, he had been accused of multiple things from sexual deviancy to unrestrained violence. He ultimately ended up in the loony bin until he was around twenty years old. During his stay, he finally learned how to con people into believing that he is perfectly normal, and he even charmed the clothes off of a nurse every once in a while. For that time, it seemed that his multiple personalities just began to fade, and Josiah was allowed to seize the reigns as a way to escape the purgatory he was in.

It wasn't until he got his first taste of freedom that the other parts of him began to leak back out into society.

Raoul's really just a man with access to an unholy amount of guns and men on his payroll. It's no big deal, it's just business. He's typically in the presence of a number of men paid to ensure his safety, but he's more than capable of analysing his surroundings and taking care of himself.

As it turns out, not even a gunshot to the head can keep Sofia Falcone down. Following her near-miraculous recovery from her coma, Sofia bounced back with a vengeance, determined to regain her influence. She fought her way to the top of Gotham's criminal underworld, then entered a strategic marriage with Rocco Gigante to merge their families together. Raoul was born shortly after, Sofia's little prince.

If Sofia had ever loved anyone in this world wholeheartedly, it was Raoul. She spared no expense raising him, making sure that she acquired everything he could want or need. Every man on the Falcone payroll was well aware of how prized Sofia's son was, and any attempts to harm him were terminated with extreme prejudice. In return, Raoul dedicated himself to learning his mother's ways, determined that he would grow up to work by her side and eventually take over.

Not all the men in Sofia's life were as loyal as Raoul. Rocco, bitter at having to work under Sofia instead of with her, had been doing his level best to undermine her, trying to amass his own followers as discreetly as he could. With Sofia's vigilance, it was hard for him to gain any real power of his own, and his machinations were eventually discovered. Husband or not, Sofia couldn't let this betrayal slide, but she didn't have to, as Raoul stepped in and put a bullet between Rocco's eyes himself, as punishment for fucking with Sofia and to send a message to everyone else. The incident was proof that Raoul was truly becoming his mother's son—they had that in common, each being responsible for their own fathers' deaths.

It was no surprise, then, that Raoul turned out to be as ruthless as his mother. Cold and capable, he stepped up to the batting plate, the Falcone influence growing under his leadership, earning himself the nickname Byzantine in honour of his grandfather's legacy. By now, though he still defers to Sofia's opinion, she's all but given her blessing for him to take his rightful place at the head of their organisation. Constantly surrounded by men personally chosen to ensure his safety, Raoul sweeps through Gotham a fount of power, aware of his own influence and power while remaining wary of any heroes that may attempt to subdue him.

Talk spreads in Gotham quickly, and with the issue of heroes disappearing, he found that he couldn't remain happy about it for long. Certainly it meant that there were less enemies to look out for, but disappearing into nowhere was concerning, hero or not. When the Academy sent out its summons, men with their ears to the ground caught wind of it and brought the news to Raoul. So he's decided to turn up at the Academy too, to see for himself.

Penelope's deceptively weak appearance hides the strength that she possesses courtesy of her father. Able to endure most physical attacks, or at least bounce back from them, she's also capable of delivering blows strong enough to shatter the average human's bones. She has good control over her own strength, especially because she often doesn't want to use it, and has a tendency to shrink into herself despite having the ability to crush anyone that bothers her.

It often seems to Penny that her fate was fixed the moment she was born. A seemingly normal baby, her true nature was revealed just hours after her birth when she grabbed a nurse's finger and squeezed tight enough to cause fractures. Her screams brought Luke and two doctors running, and Luke knew immediately that his legacy would not end with him.

Luke and Claire had always been focused on serving the community, and it stands to reason that they would raise Penelope the same way, to always put others before herself and work to serve others. While she had no reason to deny the community her strength, Penny quickly realised that she would never be allowed to be a normal girl as long as she was able to lift cars over her head. The kids at school ostracised her, despite her best efforts to make friends, and she began to see her strength for what it really was—a burden.

Determined that she should learn alongside her peers, Luke sent Penelope to the Academy where she spent two years avoiding the other students and trying desperately to keep her head down. Upon leaving the Academy, she was allowed to return to school provided she continued to train with Luke. And as she moved through her classes, doing her best to ignore the other kids' stares and whispers (although she was happy to help whenever someone needed a bottle opened), she discovered that her true passion lay in literature and teaching.

For any normal person, that realisation would have set them on a path to their dream career. But for Penny, it was only a reminder that she was not a normal person, and that it was a future that she would never get to have. She did go to college, to get a degree in English, but once she graduated she found herself sucked back into the hero life alongside her parents. And with the distress call having been sent out recently, it was Luke's decision that Penelope should answer it, believing that she was capable enough of holding her own as a hero now.

Sometimes it seems unfair that a hero should be able to fly, shoot starbolts from his hands, and do a double backflip off a building. But having spent more time training with his father, Theo much prefers the abilities that he can rely on, like his acrobatics and handy utility belt, having throwing stars and a collapsible staff on his person at all times even when dressed as a civilian. His powers of flight and starbolts are less reliable, and often restricted to daytime due to his Tamaranean side being reliant on the presence of the sun. However, he lacks the investigative and leadership abilities that Nightwing was known for, preferring instead to work on his own.

Even for a hero as accomplished as Nightwing, a man has to settle down eventually. It was obvious that Dick should end up starting a family with Koriand'r, there was never another woman whom he had loved so strongly. Theo, born some years later, bore the evidence of his Tamaranean side clearly, both through his glowy green powers and his general exuberance. Yet somehow his stronger emotions tended to lean towards anger, or a sense of injustice, instead of his mother's excitement, and as a result he was never quite able to master his powers. The other factor, of course, was the sun, which he relied on heavily to aid in the powering of his starbolts. While he wouldn't call himself an absolute novice, it's still obvious to this day that his preference for his physical talents stems partially from the unreliability of his magic.

Dick's title as the second best detective in the world didn't have much effect on Theo either. Often acting impulsively and with that strong sense of injustice, Theo often found himself misjudging the fights that he got into, coming out the worse for wear. It took years of training, both with his parents and at the Academy, before he realised his full potential, switching roles from nighttime vigilante to recognised superhero, patrolling the streets of his native Blüdhaven in Nightwing's place.

Theo's preference of working alone to as a team led him to establish himself as a solo hero, although he continued to maintain contact with his old friends, like Alfred and his uncle Jason, whom he looked up to even as Dick disapproved of Jason's notably more violent approach to things. Coming back from the dead meant that old age wasn't quite as large an obstacle for Jason, maintaining his strength and intensity, so when he disappeared while investigating a villain one day, it didn't take long for Dick and Theo to take notice. The disappearances had been going on for a while, but Jason's confidence in his own abilities was enough to keep him going, right up until he vanished. For the past few months, father and son have been searching desperately, chasing down any lead possible to no avail. Alfred's summons came as a gratefully accepted lifeline, and even though he's not excited about the other heroes that the Academy has no doubt summoned, Theo's on his way back to his old school to seek help.
