Clumsy

Marie stepped into the elevator with Damon while smiling a bit, a small skip in her step as she started to get excited. She was rather eager to see what it could be. What expensive item could he be keeping on the roof of an office building. Standing there, she smiled a little more as he pushed the button for the roof, her eyes looking up at him curiously.

"So you plan to leave me in suspense? How mean of you." She joked a light laugh.

"I don't think I ever claimed to be nice," he reminded her, chuckling as she laughed.

The elevator rose all the way to the roof level, opening up into a small room that had glass doors that latched shut. Any roof tended to get windy - especially one this high. He stepped out of the elevator and picked up an overcoat from the wall, pulling it on over his clothing before picking up a female jacket that was lined in luscious pure white fur. At a glance, he would guess it was roughly Marie's size, and she would likely want some sort of shield from the wind and cold.

"Would you care to put this on? It might help to keep the heat in when we take to the skies," he said, grinning at her.

Marie stepped out of the elevator and looked around the simple room, well it certainly wasn't what she was expecting. Though, she did think that there should have been more. Looking to the offered coat she blinked a bit at his words, not really getting them until she was wrapped up in the fur lined jacket.

"Skies? Wait...you don't mean what I think you mean, do you?" She said slowly as she glanced over to the glass doors as if they could tell her what he wasn't telling her.

"Well.. I can't really answer that question for certain, because I'm not sure what you think I mean," Damon said with a quiet chuckle, then walked over and opened the door.

Outside on the roof was a beautiful helicopter, painted a dark maroon with ivory highlights. It was in pristine condition, large enough to seat four comfortably and six in an emergency. He grinned at the sight of his baby and turned to Marie.

"I hope you aren't afraid of heights."

"Sweet Heavens!" Marie said as she looked over the lovely helicopter.

She was shocked, this was certainly not something she had imagined she would be doing that night, nor did she dress for something such as this either. Tugging at the bottom of her dress, she looked to Damon curiously. What could they possibly be doing with a helicopter at this time of night?

"Height isn't an issue, it's the length of my skirt that is..." She said as she looked back to the helicopter. "If I flash the city I am holding you responsible."

Damon laughed and escorted Marie over to the helicopter, giving her a hand with stepping up and inside the front passenger seat. He assisted her carefully with buckling her belts, then grinned and shut the door on her side. Strolling around the front of the copter, he climbed in and took his own seat, then shut his door before buckling his belts.

"I doubt that you will flash the city with the doors closed, but I'll bear in mind my responsibility," he said, winking at her as he flicked a few switches and pressed a couple buttons. He handed her a headset with a mic and put his own on since talking would be impossible in a couple moments with the rotor going.

"Alright, here we go, Miss Marie," he said into the mic, his voice a little deeper over the speakers in the headset than normal. He took hold of the controls and pressed another button, completely at ease as they slowly rose off the roof and took off over the city.

Marie looked around the helicopter curiously after she was seated and buckled in. She certainly would be going anywhere with all these straps holding her down. Turning to him as he hoped into the copter, she accepted the head phones he gave her. Fiddling with teh mic for a bit, she put the headset and relaxed as much as her heart would allow her. This was very exhilarating!

Smiling a bit as they started to rise into the air, her hands clenching to her seat as she looked out the widow. This certainly had turned out to be quite the evening. The view was amazing, she could see every building in the whole city and even to the docks as he rose higher. Her friends would never believe her once she told them about this.

"This is amazing!" She said happily into the mic as she continued to look over the city.

"I'm glad that you like it," Damon said over the headset, grinning and guiding the helicopter around in a wide circle to give her a full view of the city. He did a couple of gentle turns, then slowly lowered down and curved above the edge of the city. To the North, there was a small town with the best bakery he had ever visited. There was no airport, but he managed to land in a large field. He flicked all of the switches off, then looked over at Marie and grinned.

"I figured this was faster than the out of town traffic," he said, chuckling a bit as he pulled off his headset and started to unbuckle.

Marie was silent as she watched through the large windows. It was truly an amazing sight that was in front of her at that moment. She was rather excited about all of this. It was certainly going to be a night to remember for her. As they started to land in the field, she was rather curious as to where they were at that moment. It certainly wasn't down town anymore.

Pulling off her own head set, she turned to him and smiled a bit. "This was amazing...but what could you possible have out here? I mean...it's pretty simple." Marie said as she looked out over the field, her hands working on the buckles.

"Oh yes, very simple. It's a small town called Gibsdale. Most of the people here are probably asleep, but I called in a favor," he said, opening up his door and hopping out. He walked around to her side and opened the door, then helped her with the last of her buckles and gave her a hand with getting out and back onto solid ground.

"Now, you'll have to keep this place a secret. If everybody found out just how good this bakery is, they would be lined up for miles and I wouldn't be able to sneak by for a quick bite every now and then," he said with a smile, offering her his arm and walking with her toward the edge of the field where a car was waiting. "It's also one of the few places I visit that I don't own. Don refuses to sell to me," he admitted, chuckling.

"Oh, I've never been out of the city much so I wouldn't know even how to get here, so you don't have to worry about your secret place being exposed to the masses. It will be our secret." She said as she made a zipper motion over her lips.

She continued to walk arm in arm with him across the field and towards the car that was there. She hoped that the person who was driving them was awake and able, she already felt bad having to get someone out of bed just to have a ride, but she'd hate it more if the person fell asleep at the wheel, that was dangerous.

"So, you own so much yet you can't own the thing you wish you could? Very ironic." She said with a smile.

Damon chuckled at her innocent little zipping of the lips. He honestly wouldn't mind if she told a friend or two, but he had been serious about word getting out about this place. For some reason, people seemed to have not discovered the bakery yet outside of this town. The residents loved it, but that was it. It was strange, but he certainly wasn't complaining. Fast service was a perk he thoroughly enjoyed. As Marie spoke again, he glanced at her and nodded once with a small smile of his own.

Oh, she had no idea..

"Ironic indeed," he agreed, stopping their walk beside the car to open her door for her. Once she was inside and seated comfortably, he closed the door and walked around to enter the other side. The car started to drive as soon as his door closed, and he turned a bit to face Marie.

"Let's see. You've gone to a business meeting, a party of associates, dinner, a flight, and now headed for dessert. May I ask if you are enjoying yourself?"

"Of course I am!" She said as the car started to drive off. "This evening has been amazing, i mean, I haven't even had a date as good as this, so the fact that you are doing this just to have me be your partner at the party is so crazy. But a good kind of crazy. I mean, if you are only doing this to welcome me then I can only imagine what you do for women you are interested in."

With that she let out a small laugh, leaning back in her chair as she looked at him with a wide smile. She didn't say anymore after that, she was just content with the moment. There was no need for added words at all. Looking out the window, she watched as the field turned into small houses as they made their way to the bakery.

She was rather excited now, just happy to have such a lovely night. "I'm glad that I accepted, It has just been so much fun tonight."

"Well, perhaps I did go a bit overboard," he admitted, nodding once. "I don't mean to overwhelm you. I am very glad that you're enjoying yourself. Typically I would not go through so much trouble for somebody taking the job that you are, but this is, of course, a special case. You did me a great favor by coming along tonight, and I like to repay my debts as soon as possible," he said, then gave her a dimpled grin.

"Plus, I'm enjoying every second spent with you, so it's a win-win situation."

He fell silent, because the car stopped. The bakery was right outside, with warmly lit windows and a cheerful looking man standing outside the front door. Damon opened the car door and stepped out, then turned to offer his hand and assist Marie outside. The man, who was a smartly dressed waiter, opened the door to the adorable little shop and stood back to let them in.

Inside, the tables and chairs were all empty, but a large fellow was standing behind a long counter. There were small plates lined up all along the counter, with two samples of multiple desserts on each one. It was a dessert buffet, and she would be able to try anything her heart desired.

Marie let out another laugh just as they pulled up to the bakery, her eyes looking to it with a smile. It looked so cute and welcoming, even in the late hours of the evening. Hopefully she was not keeping anyone awake that was supposed to be sleeping. She'd feel a little guilty about that. As Damon stepped out she moved over to the door, accepting his hand and standing up. She walked over to the door with him, her eyes looking around as they entered the shop.

It was empty save for one man behind a counter, it covered in plates of desserts of all kinds. It seemed that this was really going to be a full one experience, just as dinner had been. Looking to him out of the corner of her eye, she let out a small laugh before speaking.

"You know, when you said dessert I thought I'd get one little thing, not a whole buffet. If you keep doing all of this I might be the one who will be owing you." She teased as she stood there with him, her hands on his hips as she let out another small laugh.

"Nonsense!" Damon exclaimed, grinning at her.

"You see, I fully plan on keeping you busy. I have more files than you might anticipate, and it will be very taxing to do all of the organizing that I require. Once it's all finished, there will be new files to add every day. If that isn't enough work for you, I may ask you to add more duties on top of it. It all depends. So, you see, you won't owe me. You are already doing me a great favor. I'd say it's about even," he added, and the man behind the counter chuckled.

"Ah, Mr. Damon. Always a pleasure - and such fine company you have with you this evening!" he said, smiling at Marie. "I can't believe such a beauty said yes to spending time with you!" he joked.

"I am a very lucky man," Damon agreed with a smile.

"Well! I have prepared a sample for each of you of everything worth tasting here in the shop! So, take your time, enjoy, and yell out if you need anything!" the baker said, bowing his head before wandering off back to the kitchen.

"Even so...that is all in the future, maybe some day I won't have anything left to do." Marie said back with a smile to him before dropping it there.

She blushed a bit as she was complimented, a little embarrassed to have been told that. After all, Mr. Ricardo was her boss. She still didn't like him doing this though, it made her feel a bit spoiled as an employee. B

If Mr. Ricardo wanted to do this for her though, she would not stop him. He was completely willing and she was going to kindly accept all of his gestures and so on. Besides, how could she let all of this delicious looking pastry go to waste? Especially when it was all prepared just for them on the stop. Looking over the choices, she found herself having a very hard time picking. There was a fruit tart that looked so tempting, but also a slice of cheese cake what seemed just as wonderful. There was also some yummy looking chocolate cake. Oh how could she choose?...

Oh well, looked like she'd have to eat every single thing then.

"Now...What to pick..." She mumbled a bit as she looked over each plate slowly.

Damon smiled and watched Marie as she wandered along the line of plates, seeming to be thinking about where to start. He would follow her lead, of course. A long time ago he had sampled everything here, and he knew that the delicious recipes had not changed. He had no mystery or surprise here, but he loved it. Marie, of course, was a different case. She'd never been here and should have the opportunity to make her own decision.

Suddenly the door to the shop opened and Lukas stepped in, followed closely by the new driver that had brought them here from the field. Damon cocked an eyebrow, his smile vanishing as he frowned at Lukas' interruption.

"I hope you have a very good reason for being here," Damon said, his tone more businesslike as he addressed Lukas.

"I do. May I speak to you a moment?" Lukas asked, and Damon frowned more before looking over to Marie.

"Just a moment. Feel free to start munching," he said, then walked outside with Lukas as the driver smiled awkwardly at Marie, unsure whether to follow the pair or not.

Marie only paused in her looking when she heard the door open and see Lukas, having not seen him since the office the day she was hired. She noticed Mr. Ricardo's expression change and she started to get a little worried. Had something bad happened? Did business come up and the night would have to end? She certainly hoped that it was nothing bad. When he told her to go a head and pick something she nodded her head a bit slowly, but watched as he walked off.

She looked concerned for a moment before turning to the desserts once more, grabbing a place of chocolate cake and heading over to a table to sit quietly. Though she felt bad for starting on her own, she was a little more concerned where he was going. He seemed the type to only be pulled away when it was an emergency...

The worst part was that all this worry...made it really hard to enjoy this delicious cake.

After a few minutes, Damon came in and smiled at Marie once he saw that she had started in with a piece of what appeared to be chocolate cake. One of his favorites, admittedly.

"I must apologize for that little absence, Marie, but I'm afraid it is not as bad as what needs to happen now. A very important business matter has come up that needs immediate attention before it escalates. It's already severely out of control. However, you need not worry. Lukas is going to take you back home and escort you to your door to make sure everything stays in order. I won't be taking chances tonight," he said, then strolled over to the counter.

"Claude, package all of these, and quickly," he said, and the baker immediately appeared and started packing the desserts that had set out into small boxes that fit into a big of a larger one, about the size of two shoeboxes. While he did that, Damon went back over to Marie and smiled. "I'm sure you can invite a friend over and have a lovely time trying out all of these, yes?"
