[fieldbox="Cassius Albanus, cyan, dashed, 10"]Cassius was so caught up in trying not to get burned that it was only when the figure holding Farah down spoke that he realized his mistake.

How could he be so stupid? What kind of bodyguard was he? He had left Farah to fend for herself while he had been swept away by hatred, and blinded by the will to fight.

"Yeah, drop the sword."

Cassius did so immediatly.

He watched Farah with a painfully concerned expression, until the figure he had been fighting grabbed his weapon off the ground, and Cassius turned to the man to give him a snarl. "Nice great sword... I think I'll be keeping this." He turned his body to the man and looked like he was about punch him, but hearing Farah yelp stopped him.

The figure calmly approached Cassius, although still seemed wary of the tall man, knowing that the blonde was an Elite.
One of the figures holding down Farah spoke, "Let's take take 'em to the fields Athalos."

Cassius heard the rattle of bird skulls as his hands were grabbed and tied behind his back with a length of rope. He made a tisk sound as the rope cut into his wrists, as if annoyed. He looked up and gave Farah a smirk, and a wink. It was his attempt at trying to keep the girl from being scared- even though the situation had already spiraled out of his control.[/fieldbox]

Farah gritted her teeth as the male kept a tight grip on her hair, which she saw no point in. He already had her pinned down with his huge knee, the hair gripping was completely unnecessary. Her attention was diverted from the pain over to Cassius, who was having his hands tied behind his back. At the suggestion of taking them to the fields, Farah's nose scrunched up and her eyebrows furrowed, clearly showing her confusion.

Athalos finished tying the ropes firmly, before stepping away from the blonde Elite. He was sure the blonde had it more in him, but the very fact that they got a hold of Farah made things easier. The girl was his weakness. Approaching the girl, he smirked as he watched it. "It's been a while, hasn't it Farah?" The male questioned, before he gestured to the guy holding her to move. Immediately he took the male's place and pulled out another length of rope. He gripped her arms and tightly pulled them to her back, causing for a hiss to emit from the girl. A sadistic smile settled on his lips. "Alright, get up." He ordered, before gripping her left upper arm and pulling her up. "Come on." He gestured for the blonde to follow. "And don't try anything or the whore gets its." Athalos threatened as he pulled out one of his sharp knives and held it against her neck, just a quick movement of his hand and he would slice through her skin.

[fieldbox="Cassius Albanus, cyan, dashed, 10"]Fury surged in his chest as the figure spoke? Whore? Cassius grit his teeth and tried to keep his cool... but that proved to be too difficult.

"Don't you see that you are holding a dagger against the throat of a human being? What terrible force makes you so careless about the lives of others? You're all selfish." The dam holding him back cracked- in his voice was not only stubborn anger, but hurt. He was all too familiar with these kinds of people- the kind that took, and took, and thought nothing of it.

One of the figures standing beside him gave him a glare and a shove. "Shut up. Save your breath for later- with screams you shall appease the gods."

Cassius watched the figure with confusion in his eyes, and walked on.

After a couple of minutes, they approached what looked like a flaming alter, on which various kinds of meats and skin were being burned in offering. Other dark figures were huddled together, and eagerly shouted to each other when they noticed Farah and Cassius approach.

"Ah, well done Athalos." A massive, hulking man approached. His chest was mostly bare save for a few strips of studded armor. Around his waste was a goatskin, and under that- steel greaves. His head was covered by a strange mask that made Cassius think of a moth. It was plain white, with two long antenna-like protrusions in the front, covered with feathers. "Tie them here." He pointed to a peg in front of the alter, in front of the entire congregation of bandits gathered on the fields.[/fieldbox]

Farah could feel the coolness of the sharp knife against the skin of her throat. A snicker besides her ear brought goosebumps to go along her skin. "Rowan is going to happy to know that his Lil' ol toy is alive and ready to be used again. " The male murmured before pulling her along towards the fields.

Once they arrived, Farah nearly fainted at the sight of the burning skins and people around. Athalos gave the man a nod of acknowledgement to his praise before going over to the peg. "Alright, you first Blondie. Get on over here and make it quick." Athalos made it a point to move the knife slightly, cutting through her skin slightly and a small drip of blood slid down, a complete contrast to her fair colored skin. Farah winced and looked over to Cassius.

[fieldbox="Cassius Albanus, cyan, dashed, 10"]His blood went ice-cold when he saw blood running down Farah's neck. There was no way he fight back when she was in danger.

Fearlessly, Cassius stepped towards the peg. He didn't really know what this was about, but the crude weapons and strange curved knives laid out by the alter made it clear that whatever was going to happen would not be pleasant. At least he would be going first- he was glad that Farah wouldn't be hurt.

The man wearing the mask swaggered over to stand in front of the flames, and the blaze behind him cast a glow around his silhouette. He looked like some kind of terrible god, come from the Underworld to exact cruel fates upon mortals.

"Brothers! Today, we celebrate!" Cheers echoed from the men surrounding the peg. "Soon, we are to join brother Caspian, to celebrate with goddess Pollila!" More cheers. Cassius felt the ties around his wrists loosen- next thing he knew, his cloak was being torn off his shoulders along with his backpack.

"We have finally acquired our offerings after much effort to track them." The terrible figure gestured to Cassius and Farah in the same way a merchant might gesture at his wares. "And today, we shall plead the Olde Gods to stay asleep long enough for us to safely make it to our brother Caspian." Cassius frowned- he had been so sure that they weren't being followed...

A man began to remove his armor. The entire time, Cassius's eyes were fixed on Farah, waiting for the dagger to leave her neck. It never did.

His undershirt was finally removed- bearing his burned body to the world. Some of the men gathered whispered among themselves, some made wide eyes and said nothing. Cassius squared his shoulders and puffed out his chest, trying to bear the stares of the people around him- his life, his story, written on his body, was exposed to the same kind of people that had burned his home to ground. Behind his back, his hands were clutched into fists, and trembling as he tried desperately to contain himself.

"Pain shall keep the evil ones at bay!" The masked man produced a whip. "Let's start easy." He drew his massive arm back, and the whip's tail coiled behind him like an angry snake. Cassius looked back to Farah, and gave her a smile.

The whip cracked forward and stuck him, but Cassius's smile didn't falter. The tail had caught the metal plates on his back and whipped across his scars. The dead tissue cushioned the blow, and he could barely feel the bite of the whip.[/fieldbox]

Farah hopelessly watched as Cassius made his way forward and the man with the strangle mask began to announce out to the rest of the men. Soon, they removed his cloak and backpack, before his armor followed. Once his torso was completely bare, Farah's lips parted as she caught sight of the scars from a burn. Just what had happened to him? This was just wrong.

Suddenly the man produced a whip and her eyes widened. "Ple-" Farah was cut short when Athalos yanked at her hair, causing for her eyes to water at the pain. "Shut up, whore." Despite him being whipped, he was smiling and Farah felt guilty. None of this would be happening if she hadn't decided to go on this quest for revenge. She voided her head and closed her eyes, not wanting to see this torture. Fingers tightly gripped her chin and forced her to look up. "Open your eyes and watch." Athalos demanded as his grip tightened, surely it would leave a bruise if he kept his hold like that for a few more seconds. "I said open your eyes, bitch." He commanded as he shook her and she opened her eyes with a whimper.

[fieldbox="Cassius Albanus, cyan, dashed, 10"]Cassius watched Farah struggle, and opened his mouth to say something reassuring, but the masked man cut him off. "You REALLY piss me off."
A slap caught him across the cheek, but Cassius only looked back and smiled.

The man turned to the people gathered around. "What do you say we wipe that stupid smile off of his face, eh?" Cheers came from the men, fists pumped in the air, and Cassius felt sick to his stomach- because he was aware now that what he had before him were the worst kinds of people the world had to offer. "Let's get through that tough skin, eh? Let's get some good screams from him."

The man swooped down to pick up a curved dagger, and with a gracefully movement, he stood to full height and approached Cassius again. He moved with all the confidence of a big, bad wolf dancing around a trapped rabbit. With no hesitation whatsoever, he lifted the dagger and touched the cold steel to Cassius's naked back...

And pressed down, slicing open a red crevice into his back. Cassius winced, but stubbornly kept a weak smile for Farah. This wasn't as bad as being burned. This would eventually stop, he told himself. They wouldn't kill him- but he was willing to die if it meant Farah would be spared.

Cassius breathed hard through his nose as his listened to the sound of the blade being ripped out of flesh. The masked man regarded the reaction with a quiet, "Huh," then lifted the bloody blade into the air and brought it back down to flay his skin again.

Still, no reaction. Cassius did what he had done when the fire had consumed his body- he went somewhere far away. His aqua eyes closed, and his smile remained strong.

"This motherf*cker." The masked man shook his head. "He's tough." The men circling them cheered and laughed, but Cassius couldn't hear them anymore.

"Don't worry, I'll make him scream." The whip was equipped again, and the man lifted an arm and cracked the whip down the twin wounds going down the blonde's back.

Cassius's eyes fluttered open, and he bit his lip, and looked down at the ground.[/fieldbox]

Farah knew that this was only the beginning of their torture and she was the only one to blame. If she hadn't been so stubborn and decided to heed to Barrius's words, then none of this would be happening. She wouldn't be in the hands of her tormentors and Cassius wouldn't be receiving those wounds. Her eyes widened when the masked man went behind Cassius and proceeded to slice his back twice. What took her aback was the smile on his face, despite what he was going through. When the man pulled out the whip, she began to struggle against Athalos's grip. The sound of the whip cracking against his back, caused for Farah to pause.

"Stop!" She cried as the masked man lifted up his arm again, ready to land another blow to his back and make a mark. A growl resounded from behind her. "What the hell did I say, huh?" The male growled out before he pulled her back and to the floor. The girl cried out as she painfully landed on her side, given that her hands were tied behind her back, made the impact worse. "Don't make me cut out your tongue."

[fieldbox="Cassius Albanus, cyan, dashed, 10"]Cassius breathed in, about to escape into his little zone of comfort when he heard Farah cry out.

When she was pulled back to the ground, Cassius moved forward, rattling the chains around his wrists. "Farah!" He called out, urgency in his voice. "Sit still, don't provoke them! I'm ok." He reassured, much to the annoyance of the masked man.

"Shut up!" Cassius's chains were pulled, but he stood stiff and facing forward, watching to see if Farah would stand back up. Nothing else was on his mind other than her safety. The chains dug into his wrists again as the man pulled, and it quickly became a tug-of-war between the two. Somehow, Cassius stood his own against the massive man's hulking figure.

Seeing as Cassius wouldn't budge, the man dropped the chains and approached him, leaning down to growl, "You fool! Do not struggle against people who are more powerful than you!" This time it was Cassius who glared up at the man and snarled like a feral dog. "You? Stronger than me? Please. In a fair fight, I would destroy you."

This did anything but make peace between the two men. "Raaah!" The figure cried out in rage and launched a mighty kick, aimed at Cassius's left leg- anything to make him bow.

A metallic twang rang out in the clearing, and the man immediately drew his foot up and cupped it in his hangs, hopping around like a crippled rabbit, yelping and cursing, "Ow! Ow! Shit!".

Cassius laughed, then fearlessly glared at the man holding Farah, a smug smirk crossing his lips. "Why don't you let her go, and take over for him instead? He's completely useless at his job."[/fieldbox]

There was no way Cassius could be okay with those wounds on his back, surely they were painful and he was just putting up a front. The girl struggled to sit up and glared up at Athalos, who glared down at her, fists clenched at his sides, though one held his knife. "You bastard!" SHe growled out and Athalos lifted his hand ready to smack her when the scream of the masked man interrupted them. Farah turned on time to see him kick Cassius in the leg, before he began to howl out in pain. What? A small chuckle left her lips, before Cassius spoke out to Athalos.

The male besides her narrowed his eyes to thin slits as he regarded Cassius with a disgusted expression as if he was superior to the blonde. Suddenly a smirk grew on his lips. Reaching down, he wrapped an arm around Farah's waist and lifted her up before moving closer to Cassius, dragging her along. "How about you shut that stupid mouth of yours before I make Farah take your place." Athalos threatened as he starred straight into his eyes. Farah glared up at Athalos. She was tired of this. Tired of being weak. Tired of not being able to do anything. Leaning down her head, she opened her mouth a tightly bit down onto the arm wrapped around her torso. Immediately Athalos threw her off to the side and clutched at his arm. "You stupid bitch!" He snarled.

[fieldbox="Cassius Albanus, cyan, dashed, 10"]Cassius watched Athalos haul Farah towards him, and he rose out of his stooped position to stand tall- taller than the man. Oh, how he hated the arrogant look in the man's eyes (Cassius figured that he was the only one allowed to look so arrogant) and he was about to say something to provoke him, but the man spoke first.

Athalos's words were enough for Cassius to immediately shut his mouth into a thin line- and they wiped the smile off his face as well. He lowered his head in uncomfortable submission, unwilling to risk Farah getting hurt for his words.

His eyes went to the ground until suddenly, Cassius heard the sound of struggle, and Athalos crying out angrily. He was confused for a moment, before he realized that Farah must have bit the man. Serves him right. Cassius bore his teeth and threw his metal leg up into a kick, aimed directly at Athalos.[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Farah Montague, blueviolet, dashed, 10"]
Athalos had been too busy crying over his arm, that he failed to realize the kick coming his way until it was too late. "Gaahh." Athalos cried out as he clutched his privates before collapsing on the floor. The damn blonde had kicked him in the worst place possible. "You son of a bitch!" The man cursed as he squeezed his eyes shut and clutched himself down there. (lol)

Farah watched the scene with an amused expression, while she struggling to get to her feet. So maybe they were making their situation worse, but Farah was not about to allow them to cause them harm without her at least trying to fight back. When Athalos had somewhat recovered, he got to his feet and stumbled over to Cassius, before driving his fist into his jaw. "I'm going to make you pay for that." He growled, his eyes wide and filled with rage. That amused expression Farah had, had morphed into one of anger as he punched her body guard. Suddenly another hit came down on Cassius as Athalos kicked him in the side, then moved to knock him off his feet by spinning and shooting out his leg to hit the back of his knee caps. Farah furrowed her eyebrows before charging forward and crashing into his side, effectively causing for both of them to tumble to the floor. Despite her weak attempt to stop their attacker, Farah ended up being pinned by the man and he wrapped his hands around her neck, giving a squeeze and blocking out her airway. Her hands were useless to help since they were tied behind her back, so she attempted to use her legs and try to get him off of her, but all that succeeded was in Athalos's glare to deepen. "Gah...ass-hole." Farah cursed at him, though she began to panic at the very fact that she couldn't breathe!

(( Noooo, all chances of escape are gone ;w;
From now on, only damage rolls exist. ))

[fieldbox="Cassius Albanus, cyan, dashed, 10"]Cassius laughed brightly as the man hit the ground, feeling triumphant for a moment until the figure rose again and punched him square in the jaw. Cassius took the hit and turned to glare at the man- and then the kick collided with his side, forcing him to struggle to keep standing. He was knocked off of his feet, and Cassius limply let himself fall, seeing no point in standing anymore.

... He heard mummers from the crowd around him, and the dazed man glanced back up to see Farah pinned to the ground, Athalos's hands around her neck. Cassius reacted immediately- pushing himself up to his feet and and rushing at the man. "Get off of her!"... Thwak! A fist collided directly with his face, resulting in a gush of blood as the vessels in his nose popped from the force. Cassius was sent sprawling into the dirt, and after coming to a halt, he looked up at his attacker with azure eyes full of hatred- it was the meatsack with the mask from before.

He turned to the "Athalos, that's enough. We don't want them dead, remember?"

Cassius chuckled to himself, finding it funny that the man could speak with such authority after hopping around like a one-legged kangaroo after kicking him in the leg.[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Farah Montague, blueviolet, dashed, 10"]
Farah starred up at Athalos, her eyes wide as he kept his hands around her neck. He seemed to be enjoying the fact that he was choking her, that he was the one in control. Black dots began to cloud her vision and if he didn't stop soon, then surely he would kill her. Athalos tightened his grip when he heard the masked man tell him to stop, before he fully let go. She gasped and rolled onto her side as she struggled to take in air. After a minute or so, the girl remained laying on her side while she closed her eyes. Her chest heaved up and down as she took in deep breaths of air, trying to regain her breathing. Athalos tightly gripped her chin, forcing her to look up at him. "Next time I won't let go until your dead." He spat out before roughly letting go of her and rising to his feet.
[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Cassius Albanus, cyan, dashed, 10"]Cassius pulled himself up off of the ground and coughed, tasting blood as it dripped down his lips.

He watched Farah breathe, relief welling in his heart. "Farah, Farah..." He said, gently trying to gain her attention. "Please, don't do anyth-" Cassius heard the sound of the whip whooshing through the air and braced himself a second too late- the sting of the blow across the wounds on his back made him cry out before he could grit his teeth and hold his breath.

"Hah! A sound!" The masked man said, obnoxious glee in his voice. Cassius rounded and attempted to kick again, but the man moved out of the way quickly enough to avoid the foot. He looked up at Cassius, body language conveying that he was either furious, or absolutely amazed by Cassius's boldness.

"You're too brave, you need to be broken!" Cries and cheers rang out from the thoroughly bemused crowd of bandits. "Hurt him, whip him, cut him!"

They were like wild animals, drawn to the smell of blood. Cassius wiped his nose on his shoulder, trying to keep a certain air of dignity while the whip was still on the ground.[/fieldbox]

When Athalos let go of her chin, Farah laid her head on the wet grass as she closed her eyes. Her neck hurt and she felt horrible, not because she was nearly choked to death, but because it didn't leave her mind that she was the reason they were even in this mess. Cassius voice was far away and it wasn't until she heard his cry did she turn. Soon cheers resounded from the men and Zara felt her heartbeat quickened. "Cassius... I'm sorry for putting you through this mess." Farah slowly got to her get and moved closer to the blonde.

[fieldbox="Cassius Albanus, cyan, dashed, 10"]Cassius watched Farah approach him, and his eyes widened with fear. "Don't move Farah, just do what they tell-" The whip lashed him across the back again, then again, then again. Cassius fell to his knees, shutting his eyes tightly as he focused on withstanding the pain.

"Aw, where'd those pretty cries go? Come on, make some noise for the Olde Gods!" The chains around his wrists were pulled again, and Cassius turned to glare up at the masked man through eyelashes wet with unspilled tears. One of the figures watching the torture moved closer to Farah threateningly. "I suggest you listen to Chief Teo, or we hurt the girl some more."

So that was his name. Chief Teo. Cassius smiled and stood, wincing as he felt blood run down his back, and turned from Farah to approach the peg again. He would kill this person- he would bring his head to Farah on a silver dish. Two men stood by to secure more chains around him, ensuring that his movement was further restricted. Worst of all, they bound his ankles together, forcing Cassius into a kneeling position on the ground.

He patiently waited for whatever came next, smiling to himself as he figured he could make it- there had to be a way out. Cassius looked around, searching in vain for an opening past the bandits.

"Scared of fire, aren't you?"

His stomach sank at the voice next to his ear, and the feeling of a burning hot poker being pressed against his shoulder. "Argh!" Cassius broke his silent promise to keep from screaming- it was out of fear most of all. This was a pain he had hoped to never have to face again, and yet, here it was. Brought to him by the strange man whispering in his ear and inhaling his cries like they were sweet ambrosia. He fought to stand, to move away, anything, but Teo grabbed him by the hair and held him to the spot as the blazing hot metal burned through his skin.

This was unbearable. Anything else, any other kind of pain, Cassius could face. But not this. Not again.[/fieldbox]

The crack that resounded from Cassius back when the whip made contact made Farah flinch. The man didn't stop and continued to mar his skin.

She wanted to call out to Cassius as he retreated back to the peg, but refrained from doing so given that more of the men had gathered closer and Athalos was dangerously close to her. She winced when the metal rod was placed against his shoulder and the Chief didn't seem like he would be removing it. It pained her to see that expression on Cassius face, so without thinking she sprinted forward and kicked at the Chief. "You monster!" She growled out.

[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Cassius Albanus, cyan, dashed, 10"]The poker left Cassius's shoulder for a moment as Teo noticed Farah charge towards him, but a second too late. The kick caught him in the shin and he dropped the glowing-hot metal, and growled in pain. He recovered almost instantly, and pointed to Farah with a beefy finger.

"Athalos! Chain the bitch up! For that, she is going to sit right next to the silly Elite and watch."

Just to make a point, Teo turned around and kicked Cassius square in the jaw, stunning the man with the force of the blow. He flopped down on his chest, resting his cheek against the ground as he waited for the stars to clear from his vision.

The masked man placed a the heel of his boot against Cassius's head, pressing him into the dirt.

And Cassius let it happen.

Men cheered again- like village folk would if some terrible criminal was going to be hung. The sound rang through Cassius's ears, as he looked up at Teo with a look of indifference. He wasn't too pleased about his position, but a small part of him grinned ear-to-ear as it plotted revenge.[/fieldbox]

Farah glared at the Chief and had been prepared to land another blow to the irritating man, when she was painfully tugged backwards by her hands that were tied behind her back. It brought pain to her shoulders and she felt that her arms were about to be dislocated. "What the hell!" She growled out before Athalos backhanded her. "Shut the fuck up, you stupid little bitch. Your fucking this ceremony up." He growled as he dragged her along towards Cassius. "Good." She grumbled and Athalos paused as she glared down at her. "Keep talking, I dare you." At this point Farah knew that it would be better to keep her mouth shut, else the brute would do something horrible.

He pushed her to the ground onto her knees before shouting orders to bring him more chains. "I'm sure you're going to enjoy the rest of the night." He spoke in a mocking tone to her, but Farah's attention was on Cassius, who was allowing for the Chief to dig his heel into him. "Stop it!" She screamed over to the Chief.
