::PLOT OVERVIEW::
Capax (kay-pax) is a small, close knit coastal town, population 13,944. Located in the north east and away from most tourist traps, the town gets little attention, and that's how the citizens like it. Nothing interesting ever happens there, either. Occasionally there are celebrations--the Fourth of July celebrations, the Capax Public High School end of the year parties--but Capax is largely a sleepy little town with little excitement.

This story focuses on a group of interconnected teenagers living in Capax. Each of them begin to notice strange things happening around them in the town; strange things that others don't seem to see. Some are determined to figure out the source of it. Others are bent on minding their own business and living their lives. But the collision is imminent.

The world is composed of an infinite number of universes, all running parallel to one another. Some are vastly different, while others are scarily similar. Each has it's own timeline, and continues on forever, even after the death of mankind. And, as a rule, they will never collide. They will never touch. If time could be viewed as a line, these timelines would be exactly that; eternal, parallel, lines.

But the laws have been broken, and the universes are beginning to collide and merge into one another. The signs began slowly--missing people, crazy weather, extinct animals reappearing--and grew bigger with time. But the people of this universe and timeline know little about the science behind time and the universe. They simply think that their world is dying, that mental illness is rampant. And, as such, the destruction of existence as we know it is inevitable. Unless a ragtag group of teenagers can manage to fix it. We'll see about that.

::GAME MECHANICS::
Every main character will fit a character archetype (archetypes listed below). These archetypes are vague backgrounds for the characters. Their use will appear in the IC through the use of GM posts. GM posts will come both via IC and via PM. For example, the player of archetype #2 may receive a PM concerning a memory their character has remembered that has plot relevance.

Players are expected to participate in plot planning (and will be rewarded for cooperation with others in the group and for sharing their ideas, as well as activity) and will also be expected to play multiple characters. This can include side characters as well as NPCs (family, friends, acquaintances) from time to time. Some players may eventually be given the ability to play plot specific characters. For now, I will play a few plot specific characters, one main character of my own, and side characters.

The story will take place over several chapters that mark the progression of Capax and the colliding universes. We will follow a day/night cycle marked by GM posts (though we may skip some days for timeskips if needed) and GM events will be posted to keep things moving. These events can be character specific or worldwide.

2. Be able to post 2-3 paragraphs (grammar and spelling checked) at least once a week. After two weeks, you will receive a warning. After two warnings you will be removed from the roleplay. Please talk to me if you will have trouble with activity! I will understand.

4. You can have as many characters as you'd like, but please only make sure you can handle the number of characters you create.

5. Be prepared to play side characters and to control NPCs when needed.

Even weirder... some of your dreams can predict the future. That dream about your mom buying the wrong cereal wasn't just a feeling. She really did buy the wrong stuff! How dare she!{/slide}

Today, when she served you the same, you almost threw up. You've no idea why, but almost all your interests have changed. Even further, you don't like a good majority of your friends, and you no longer identify as the same gender you did yesterday. "Momma" is now "Mom" and you're definitely not the same person anymore... are you?{/slide}
{slide=8|center}You might be perceptive or your intuition might be deader than Caesar, but either way, you've recently developed this really cool (and helpful!) ability to anticipate what people will say. She stands about 5'10" (177 cm) with an average build--nothing special, though she goes through some basic efforts to exercise and maintain her health. She dresses in loose clothing, nothing of expense, often found at thrift shops and used goods stores.
Notable Features: Amber is rarely seen without a long sleeved shirt or jacket, to cover the tattoo sleeve on her left arm.

::CHARACTER::
Brief Personality: Anais is an outspoken girl, tired of living in her family's shadow but not quite sure what to do about it besides fight and argue against her parents. Causing trouble is what she's notable and known for around town. She's learned to be manipulative and provoking, anything to get what she wants. She's often somewhat crude and speaks without thinking, though she's also known to be exceptionally well mannered and kind to peoples of her choice. Past being an angry and melodramatic teenager, she's looking for a friend and to have fun.

Brief History: Anais grew up with a business man father and a just as professional mother, both of which hated each other with a passion equal to that of love. Both her parents and all of her siblings, two older brothers, an older sister, and a younger sister, are highly competitive (to the point of becoming straight up assholes), creating a rather toxic home environment. When her older siblings fled the coop, she was left to take care of her youngest sibling, who she has bonded quite well with over the years despite it all.

Physical Characteristics
Franny has long brown hair which she often keeps in twintails. Like her hair, her eyes are also of a brown colour. She has a small mouth. The phrase, "You look just like your mother" is something she commonly hears from people who've seen her mother and then see her. Even her father says the same thing which amuses both her and her mother.

Clothing Style
Franny can often be seen rocking a pair of shorts and a tee. She's a rather conservative person and thus, refuses to wear shorts that are too short. Her signature attire consists of a navy jumper with a white 3/4 sleeve shirt underneath and her favourite red cap.

Personality
Franny is a simple girl. She's humble -- perhaps even too humble. Franny has a habit of denying almost any compliment thrown at her (except when it was about how her family was rather ideal; it was something she could never deny). While Franny is kind most of the time, she could still turn into a rather scary bitch when provoked; though it usually takes a lot to actually rile her up as she's quite known for her patience and tolerance. Because of this, many describe her as a rather mature individual, something that Franny disagrees greatly -- not only because of her humility but also because she knows how childish she could be at times.

History
Average and very normal; these were the best words to describe Franny's history. She was an only child. Both parents lovingly raised her. Franny love both equally and was very thankful they weren't workaholics who didn't have any time to spare for their child. One would say that Franny had the 'ideal' family, and she would humbly agree with them. Franny was happy that she grew up in such an environment, though sometimes she wished she had a sibling. There came times when she was pleased with viewed her life as dull and boring. Needless to say, Franny craves for some form of drama and excitement to enter her life.

Brief Personality: Introverted, intuitive, (introspective) feeler and (very) judgmental, yet still dominantly perceiving.
Brief History: Sahran's parents died in a house fire. He's an only child. He currently lives in his trainer's basement. Martial Arts is the only reason he's still alive. In middle school, Sahran was the biggest loser in his class and probably the school too. All the boys and girls made fun of him or just pushed him around for no good reason. There's always that one kid who gets it more worse than anyone else --welcome to Sahran's childhood. This harassment, physical and mental, was so severe that he seriously considered suicide. It wasn't until Sahran ran into Yugo, his Sensei, that his life changed for the better. Yugo taught him to fight, to protect himself. In grade seven, he got suspended for kneeing a girl in the face. It was purely in self-defense. She attacked Sahran with a hard plastic flute case after he had knocked out her boyfriend. The boyfriend was the instigator of the fight, obviously. Eventually, he developed a bad rep, always challenging anyone that made fun of him to a fight. If they shoved, he punched or kicked. In time most people would learn that Sahran was the wrong guy to pick on because he fought back, fiercely. It just wasn't worth it. Now, in his last year of high-school (Capax High), the popular kids that hated Sahran's guts started being nice all of a sudden. Sahran never forgot how these people treated him when he was a helpless runt. Befriending the assholes that tormented him in elementary and half his middle school career would be foolish, but Sahran's desire to belong seemed to overcome the reproach of his bad memories. Trust but confirm was initially his maxim for dealing with his newfound friends. Only recently did he start to hesitantly lower his guard around them.

Description: Around 5'8 with dark brown skin and darker brown eyes, Wes has a medium build and while not out of shape, he doesn't boast a particularly toned physique. He usually keeps his hair cut fairly short and cropped close to his head. His face is framed by a pair of thick but well-groomed sideburns that extend down to his jawline. High cheekbones sit above a slightly squarish nose and a pair of lips that are usually pursed into a stern-looking frow, which in turn give way to a narrow, pointed chin. Wes is typically clothed pretty casually, favoring jeans and a sweatshirt on most days, although he does occasionally venture into wearing items with a little more flair like tank tops

Notable Features: Wears glasses practically 24/7 as he is nearly blind without them. Also has a single silver stud piercing in his left earlobe.

::CHARACTER::
Brief Personality: Constantly observant but seemingly indifferent to most things that occur around him, Wes often appears withdrawn or even outright hostile to others. He rarely reacts to what's said or done to him with more than a standard, perfunctory response. The exception to this is when he's extremely insulted or offended by someone, in which case he lashes out with a dry yet devastating wit, his comebacks seemingly tailor-made for the sore spots of his target. From time to time his uniquely acerbic sense of humor comes to light in more benign ways, earning him respect or at the very least recognition from adults and his more mature peers.

Brief History: Wes' family moved to Capax when he was very young, and as such it is the only place he can rightfully call home, having few memories of living anywhere else. This is at odds with his sense of place in the world, since although he was very outgoing and considered extremely bright as a child, he always felt like something of an outsider. He gained some perspective on this when at the age of 13 he realized he was gay, something he soon regretted ever having shared after a few of his friends and family had less than glowing reactions to the news.

Following this abortive attempt at coming out, Wes became isolated and aloof. The rejection and disappointment he felt played a large part in building the coarse exterior he now presents to the world. However, he now finds being 'that gay kid' is not such a terrible burden to live with, and he has a small but trustworthy group of friends that accept him, bristles and all, with whom he feels he can open up more and be himself.

Crow has dark-brown eyes, slightly squinted despite his otherwise typically 'caucasian' features, and root-dyed blonde hair of medium length, shaved at the sides with a smooth transition. He is slightly skinner than the norm and of average height. There is a seemingly nonsensical tattoo etched onto his right shoulder; a multitude of rough lines running together and across in a chaotic jumble. It bears little resemblance to any noteworthy symbol of our age.

::CHARACTER::
Personality: Contrary to his rather eccentric looks, Crow is quite reserved and soft-spoken, stemming most likely from the insecurities caused him by his memory loss. He seems to adore cats, and judging by some negative physical responses and items found in his possession, a light nicotine addiction.

History: Crow was found washed up on the shore of Capax by a bypassing homeless man, a dead crow with a ruptured left eye and a walrus baculum lying next to him. His memories seems to have vanished without a trace, and if not gone forever, then perhaps sealed away deeply in the chambers of his mind, locked away from all current access. In his possession is found a brushed sterling Zippo with a tiny amount of lighter fluid left and a pack of half-filled red Lucky Strikes. Nothing more, nothing less.

Description:
At an abnormally tall 185 cm, Wen Bonheur used to look something akin to a wraith: unhealthily pale skin in contrast to long, dark hair and brown eyes. The only way to put it would be "unhealthy." Too skinny, too sharp, and too fake. She'd been fond of ill-fitting clothes and too much makeup and product to look healthy. After the Switch (as he's termed it), he'd shorn his hair short and worked on making him actually healthy instead of only appearing so. His face has is no longer so gaunt, and while his skin seems unable to tan, he is no longer so pasty.

Notable Features:
His hair is now entirely natural and looks messy when juxtaposed with the put-together formal wear he now favors.
C H A R A C T E R
Brief Personality:
Wen was rude, immature, and prone to fits of temper but was straightforward and simple in what she wanted. He is now a well-mannered, eloquent, and charming gentleman. Quite finicky, prone to being longwinded, and (politely) manipulative, but everyone has their flaws.

Brief History:
Wen was born and raised in Louisiana until she moved to Capax when she was 12. In a bid to be regarded as anything other than the new kid with no friends, she did what she could to be liked. Because of this she'd been known to unknowingly bully her peers that didn't fit in. A month since the Switch and he's... content. Confused, startlingly aware of his past misdeeds, and essentially a new person, but alright and trying to fix his life.

Dark wavy hair, a brown so tinged with red it is almost mahogany, falls down one side of her head and ends at about elbow-level. Wide, blue eyes rest beneath a slender brow which extends into an equally slender nose. Hughes' face angles downward into a round chin beneath pale pink lips.

Notable Features: Her eyes are usually bloodshot and lined with dark circles, concealed by a rose-tinted shade of sunglasses more often than not.

Brief Personality: Rachel is often quiet and subdued in public areas, though her close friends describe her to be quite outgoing and warm. Though not unfriendly or hostile, she will not be the one to start a conversation.

Brief History: Hughes was born and raised in Capax, and though it has been her home for many years, she hates to admit any personal attachment to it. Her interactions with the outside world growing up were minimal with hardly a family vacation even once every four or five years. The youngest of four children in a poor family, Rachel was often ignored even if a trip out of the town came up. Without parental attention or any real role models, she fell prone to a lack of motivation and laziness, dropping out of high school to work at a local gas station. Though naturally gifted, her talents go under-utilized in the local community college.

Description: Ellis is waifish. Standing at around 5'3" tall and weighing in at around one hundred pounds, her lack of proper exercise and poor diet is solely responsible for her weak frame. She has a pale complexion, making her dark eyes look bigger than they seem and stand out that much more. Her sense of style happens to be whatever is the most comfortable--lots of cotton fabrics and muted colors. She has no tattoos or piercings, but often doodles on herself with pens or markers, which results in some interesting temporary designs.

Notable Features: Long hair. Ellis hasn't had a trim in years, much to the dismay of her parents.

::CHARACTER::
Brief Personality: Ellis has a tendency to rely on sarcasm and wit to get her through most tough situations and she sometimes come off as biting because of it. When she's not annoying others with her smart remarks, she's fairly laid back and tends to go with the flow. She is very loyal to her friends and family and will do whatever she can for them when someone is upset, even if it's nothing more than lending an ear. When faced with strangers, Ellis is quiet but not usually stand-offish and is timid until she gets to know others.

Brief History: Ellis is the middle child between her old brother, Devin, who is now away at college and her younger younger sister, Gracie, who just started middle school. Her father owns a specialty food shop in town, and her mother is--was--an artist, who worked there as well. Ellis has lived in Capax with her family for her entire life, and she likes it that way.

Description: Chloe boasts about her brown skin ("Like a sexy dark chocolate, eh?") and her well styled hair. Au natural means nothing to her when she can have fun and play with what God gave her. With a face that screams "looks can kill", her features angular and her lips plump (she has a great smile), she has the very appearance of being bossy, sour, and demanding. She dresses differently, though, in bright colors and in T-Shirts with logos (Fuck Slavery is only one among her broad range of "I'm an Activist" shirts). She is quite fit, even with a waistline above average, and is proud of herself from her height to her weight to the gorgeous hair on her head.

Brief Personality: Chloe, above all, loves herself as fully as a person possibly can. Her ego is big and she isn't afraid to make it clear she's the boss. While it probably does go as far as OCD, she is obsessive about even the little things, and feels uncomfortable when things like cleaning and organizing don't go her way. However, she's also a very loyal and caring friend. She's got a shoulder for you to lean on and tissues in her back pocket.
Brief History: She has a normal background, although her mother is the chairwoman of the Board of Public Health and Environment Care and all of her siblings are athletes and A+ students. She moved from New York City to Capax with her family five years ago, and has been trying to transform the city since.

::CHARACTER::
Brief Personality: Rachel is often quiet and subdued in public areas, though her close friends describe her to be quite outgoing and warm. Though not unfriendly or hostile, she will not be the one to start a conversation.

Brief History: Hughes was born and raised in Capax, and though it has been her home for many years, she hates to admit any personal attachment to it. Her interactions with the outside world growing up were minimal with hardly a family vacation even once every four or five years. The youngest of four children in a poor family, Rachel was often ignored even if a trip out of the town came up. Without parental attention or any real role models, she fell prone to a lack of motivation and laziness, dropping out of high school to work at a local gas station. Though naturally gifted, her talents go under-utilized in the local community college.

::LOOKS::
Crow has dark-brown eyes, slightly squinted despite his otherwise typically 'caucasian' features, and root-dyed blonde hair of medium length, shaved at the sides with a smooth transition. He is slightly skinner than the norm and of average height. There is a seemingly nonsensical tattoo etched onto his right shoulder; a multitude of rough lines running together and across in a chaotic jumble. It bears little resemblance to any noteworthy symbol of our age.

::CHARACTER::
Personality: Contrary to his rather eccentric looks, Crow is quite reserved and soft-spoken, stemming most likely from the insecurities caused him by his memory loss. He seems to adore cats, and judging by some negative physical responses and items found in his possession, a light nicotine addiction.

History: Crow was found washed up on the shore of Capax by a bypassing homeless man, a dead crow with a ruptured left eye and a walrus baculum lying next to him. His memories seems to have vanished without a trace, and if not gone forever, then perhaps sealed away deeply in the chambers of his mind, locked away from all current access. In his possession is found a brushed sterling Zippo with a tiny amount of lighter fluid left and a pack of half-filled red Lucky Strikes. Nothing more, nothing less.

They are meant to be interlinked, yes. However close the characters are is up to you all. They can be friends, rivals, acquaintances. They can see each other regularly at a coffee shop, work at the same place, have classes together at school, be loosely related, dating, in the same gang, club, what have you. It can be subtle or it can be rather noticeable. But what connects them at first is what draws them together after they begin to notice the, er, destruction of their universe.

So character A may only know character B because they go to the library at the same time, but this crazy happenstance is what eventually brings them together.

Because eventually, all the characters will know each other. They don't have to like each other, but they'll at the very least be somewhat working with or against them.

I have only one question: when the IC starts, how long ago would the change (but switch seems more appropriate) have been? A week before the IC starts? A day ago? I'd just like to know how much time my character would have to adapt.
