Black Flags and Cannon Blasts

"I haven't a clue." Sid replied, a happy smile on his face. "The schedule had 'VITAL CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS' written on it and a odd symbol I've never seen before on it. I can only assume it will lead us something amazing." Skylar returned, as if on que, and handed him the documents. The documents were kept in a fancy white envelope with the same mysterious seal as the schedule's symbol.image.jpg Sid was about to open it when suddenly he heard a sound like a torpedo(if they had existed then) and three dark shapes zooming through the water.

As soon as the shapes got under the merchant boat there was the sound of splintering wood as three crab men shot through the decks and landed on the topmost one.image.jpg
The sound of rushing water accompanied screams of pain and now fear. The wooden planking creaked under the weight of the crab men's heavy armor as they balanced on their tiny legs. The assumable leader from its darker hue and larger claws pointed at Kalia, then up at Karui, before approaching Saethos. The one appointed to attack Kalia ran up and swung one of its long arms at her torso while the one ordered to attack Karui began to tare up the bottom of the mast she was on. Finally the leader seemed give Saethos a belittling glare before thrusting each of its claws forward with intentions of snapping off his arms.

"What the hell are crab men doing here?!" Sid yelled, his tone a mix of confusion and fear. Crab men normally kept to themselves, at the bottom of the sea, unless something agitated them, again, at the bottom the the sea. What could possibly have bothered them? Sid wasted no time, he pocketed the letter and ran below deck, shouting over his shoulder, "take the wheel! Bring us close so they can flee quickly!" Reaching the cannons he ran up to Franz and Rham. "Stop shooting! Get above deck, now!!"

Julia looked at Skylar with a smile adorning her face, happy that none of them are hurt before they've retrieve this so called important documents. She watched her captain opening the envelope when she suddenly heard something strange and saw three odd looking men riding the merchant ship.

"Crab men.." Julia whispered in fear. She quickly followed her captain's orders and took the wheel, maneuvering the Crow to get as close as possible to the merchant ship. The crab men are dangerous and violent creatures that almost killed her. She encountered some of them while she was a kid and hidden at the institution. Bad memories suddenly flooded her mind but shook it of. "This is no time for flashbacks Julia." she scolded herself and finally got the ship next to the merchant's. As soon as she did it, she wanted to just jump in and try to defend the rest of the merchants. True that she's a pirate but not a cold one. She still has a heart even though she acts so cold and reserved. Julia stood firmly on her spot, the grip on the wheel tightening and turning her knuckles white. She cannot bear to see the sight of innocent men being killed but she doesn't work for the merchants and she needs to stay true to her captain.

Trying her best to ignore the screams of agony and pain, she asked her captain "What are your next orders, captain?"

Kaila had not had time to even boast about her kills when the crab men came on board. She looked at them with a slight grin on her face, though a grimace came to her as the sounds of screaming and pain started filling her ears.

"Oh shut the eff up," she called as she held her sword before her. "Scared o' these bastards? Just gotta boil 'em in a pot is all!" Just as the crab man ran to her, Kaila raced toward him foolishly, sword aiming for his chest, her one arm still holding her waist where she had been sliced before. "Oh s***-" Her arm took the brunt of the crab man's arm as she stumbled back and fell on her behind. "Tough bastard aintcha!" She had her sword up just in case he tried to attack once more while she was down. She kicked out with her foot, hoping to at least topple the crab man.

Rhamaton looked at his frantic captain before taking one last look out of the gun port, deciding it best to fire the cannon anyway. If the mast that The Cat was on fell, the girl had nine lives anyway. She'd be fine. Besides, it was a bit more important that the crab men were dealt with, and he was fine with being hopeful that the cannonball would kill the creature. "Filthy bastard!" He yelled at no one in particular as he lit the touch-hole, the powder exploding with a nearly deafening BANG.

He didn't bother to look to see the damage that the chain and iron balls had done to the people or the boat, instead, he extinguished the burning end of the botefeux, unscrewed it from his arm, and put his trusty hook back where it goes. He put his cane into a small slot in his false leg, leaving his one hand free to load his flintlock pistol as he walked above deck. He let the captain and the Ogre go in front of him, knowing that he was slow, and slower still without his cane, and slower still more if half his attention was going to be on loading his pistol. By the time he got himself above deck, his pistol was loaded and ready to fire at the crab men that would likely be boarding. His crow, Marethyu, immediately flew down to perch on the man's shoulder, but Rhamaton whistled and the bird turned and flew back to its spot among the masts.

Shiro was about to fire another bullet at an invading bandit when something burst forth from the ocean and scrabbled and scratched its way across the floorboard. It towered over her, clacking its horribly massive jaws and claws, looking at her with its eyes cut out from the depth of the ocean itself. It made a horrid click sound as it raised its meaty hand and slammed it torward her. She danced away with practiced ease, the claw slamming home where she stood mere seconds ago. She pointed her gun and fired a bullet, but it did little to stop its advance.

Shiro cursed loudly and looked around. The way she saw it, she had two options; Die at the hands of a horrible lobster man, or jump aboard the bandit ship and hope they dont kill her either. Each option seemed to lead in death, but if she stayed where she was, she would for sure meet a horrible end. Shiro let out a groan and turned heel, holstering her weapon and taking on a full run. She felt the boards beneath her give way, and she leaped across the gap between the two ships. In reality, it was a ship and something that closely resembled a ship. It was coming apart in tatters, between the canon blasts and the crabmen, and it surely wouldnt hold up for much longer.

She grunted as she hit the deck of the other ship, falling head over heels and smacking her head on the opposite side. She groaned, touched her head, and winced. She'd surely be hurting in the morning, if she even lived that long to see it.

Loud cracking sounds coming from outside twisted Franz's face into a grimace, causing him to swivel on the spot to find the enemy's cannons that had just fired. He realized, however, that the force behind the sounds came from no cannons, but three red blurs from beneath the last strip of wood under the ship's belly. Once they were firmly rooted on deck, he recognized them easily enough.

"...Shell-heads!" Franz cursed under his breath afterwards. Well, there goes the plot. From what he knew, the crabs weren't usually stupid enough to let their hungry stomachs decide they needed to attack two fully-manned boats, but Franz was forced to push the mystery of the moment to the back of his head went Captain Sid thundered down and into the room, barking orders. Before he could even put together a proper reply, another loud sound exploded in the room, causing Franz to reel again. He spun around towards the culprit.

"Filthy bastard!" old man Rhamaton had cursed not a moment before. At that moment, Franz decided. His eyes darting from the buccaneer's figure to the iron balls ready for use, Franz scooped up one with his hands and practically threw it down the cannon's barrel. With another swift motion, he lit the touch-hole before either Sid or Rhamaton may get another move in. After all, it's only fair he got his own fix after all that work. Dashing back in line towards the exit, he shrugged at the captain a small, wry smile before slipping past the man and out the doorway.

"...Just following the sea-dog's example, man." said the Ogre to the captain.

Moments later, the cannon boomed, rather unsatisfyingly. But the ball flew nonetheless.

Franz stepped up onto deck to see the rest of the Crow's crew caught up with the crabs, rather man-to-man.

"Wonderful." thought Franz, walking up to a crew-member from the other ship, who was still shaking in his boots. Poor guy probably never thought these water-dwelling things really did exist. "...At least some people still know a thing or two 'bout chivalry." he then proceeded to prove his point (or not), and snatched the sword from the man's hand. Before the latter could sputter out any appropriate response, Franz put in a bit of force and smacked the back of his own hand into the man's face. That was enough to knock the lights out of the man and send him falling on his back.

Having put that mess out of this bigger one, Franz turned towards the trifecta of fights going down across the gap. But before he could do anything more with the sword newly in hand, something or someone else landed on the deck of the Crow with a loud sound, catching his attention. He turned again towards the sound and saw a red-haired woman curled up on the deck.

"...And the plot thickens..." Franz remarked, not knowing what to handle first in this big buffet on the seas. Which side was going to end up the meal, though, was anyone's guess at that point.
