"I needed you to know that I mean no harm. I wanted to help," he replied in a gentle tone, the anger easing away into the night wind.
He returned her embrace with one of his own, pulling the shapeshifter into his body as he closed his eyes. There was something about the mysterious girl that made him feel at ease; someone he wanted to protect. After what felt like ages, the knight lowered his head slightly to gaze at Shade, gazing around the stable to make sure no one was treading the streets. The world around them only whispered it's gentle wind, caressing the three within the stable. "I promise you that only my loyal steed and I will know your secret," a soft smile poked through his normal expression, a feeling of peace flowing through the warrior.
He paused as he rearranged his thoughts into order, resuming his conversation. "Why did these civilians have to die? Could they have not just been frightened away? Why are you traveling alone? Don't you have a pack? Finally, where will you go from here? You can stay here for the night so we can prepare for the 'morrow."
