"I needed you to know that I mean no harm. I wanted to help," he replied in a gentle tone, the anger easing away into the night wind.

He returned her embrace with one of his own, pulling the shapeshifter into his body as he closed his eyes. There was something about the mysterious girl that made him feel at ease; someone he wanted to protect. After what felt like ages, the knight lowered his head slightly to gaze at Shade, gazing around the stable to make sure no one was treading the streets. The world around them only whispered it's gentle wind, caressing the three within the stable. "I promise you that only my loyal steed and I will know your secret," a soft smile poked through his normal expression, a feeling of peace flowing through the warrior.

He paused as he rearranged his thoughts into order, resuming his conversation. "Why did these civilians have to die? Could they have not just been frightened away? Why are you traveling alone? Don't you have a pack? Finally, where will you go from here? You can stay here for the night so we can prepare for the 'morrow."

Shade rested her head on the knights chest, right over his heart. She shivered a bit at the night breeze, not expecting the sudden chill. The shifter smiled in return. "You know what you need... You need to smile more. You look so much better when you smile." She laughs softly, her eyes glowing in the fading light. She looks over to Swiftened, admiring once again the steeds beautiful build.

Her smile fell as she listened to the questions, a serious expression coming over her face. "We prefer to stay hidden, unknown to the world. We were once found out, that ended in a massacre, thousands were killed. If we were to allow the men to leave, they would tell the world and we would no longer exist."

Her eyes go dark as she explains the situation to Kelligan. She lets a slow sigh escape from her lips before continuing her answers. "I was, am a very adventurous person, I wasn't allowed to go very far when with a group. So I left the clan one night about a year ago. I've been roaming the lands ever since. I truthfully have no idea to where I will go from here."

Shade looks up at Kelligan, a curious expression on her face. "We? What exactly do you mean by that?"

His face brightened with a gentle smile at the rebuttal, chuckling to himself as his hands rested on the shifter's thigh. "Well, I said that I would protect you, and I cannot perform such an action whittling my life here. I shall accompany you to the far reaches of the earth and sky. It is only fitting, I say," his lips parted wider in a full smile, feeling rejuvenated as he spoke, "It is about time that another took my place as captain, I think. I just need to report to my liege to announce my leave of absence in the morning."

The knight rose to his feet, bowing down to pick his sword up, positioning it in its rightful place before offering a hand to Shade. An adventure awaited, and something told Kelligan that he could trust her. With a nod and a grand smile, he gazed into the lady's eyes. "Shall I escort this dashing lady into my humble abode?"

She laughed softly to herself. "Earth and sky, I like how that sounds. Although you just may regret saying them." She replies, looking up to the knight, a playful spark in her eyes. Her tail curled around her leg loosely as she spoke.

Shade watched as Kelligan stood up and retrieved his sword. She took his hand and stood up, giving him a small smile. She gave a slight giggle before replying. "I would be honored to be escorted to your humble abode." She says with a slight purr, trusting the knight once again.

The knight nodded and led the shapeshifter back into the house, gazing back once in a while to make sure that she was okay. The house was quiet, the lack of life other than the two showing as they traversed the various rooms. The wooden stairs creaked and moaned with each step they took up to the second floor, feeling old enough to break underneath their weight. With a gentle tug, Kelligan entered his bedroom with Shade, looking around at the place. Now with it dusted down and cleaned up to a proper code of decency, little articles and items could be seen arranged on his drawers and desks. They ranged from honorable medals to pictures of past adventures, exposing the knight's seasoned experience of travelling at a young age. Two large drawers loom over one side of the wall, with an oak table about waist high sat in between the hulking furniture. On the opposite side of the room was a large matress, held by an elegant maple bed frame, spiraling upwards into two more cabinets that guarded each side of the bed, facing the other side of the bedroom.

As he looked around to make room for Shade, the knight scratched his head with a scrunched expression. There was no other mattress that he had to lay out for the female. His arm extended out towards his bed, motioning his guest to it as he slowly made his way to the other side of it. "I don't really have anywhere else to sleep, so we might have to share my bed," his face turned a slight pink as he spoke.

This was very new to the knight. He was always alone, for the most part throughout his life, and it was odd for him to offer such a decision. Bones popped and cracked slightly as Kelligan outstretched, loosening any air pockets built up between his joints. For being a warrior, Kelligan didn't know what to do. This was all new, and he did not want to intrude on any guest, but he did not know of any other decision.

Shade headed towards the bed slowly after Kelligan motioned to it. "I'm fine with that if you are. If you aren't I could always bed down on the floor." She noticed how the knight slightly turned pink when he spoke the though. She began to think of a way to where it might not be as uncomfortable for him.

Shade stifled a yawn as she sat down on the edge of the bed. She bit her bottom lip as she thought. A moment later she shifted. This time into a small grey kitten. She stretched before walking over to the knight. She rubbed up against him as she started to purr softly.

The knight lied down on the mattress, his head resting down upon his pillow. The case of feather and wool conformed around his body, matching with the mattress as it appeared older than most of the house itself. Kelligan yawned lightly as his muscles began to relax, loosening up to accept rest and repairs. Sleep coaxed over his thoughts, pulling him deeper into slumber before his eyes snapped open. A feeling of soft fur stirred the knight awake once again. His eyes moved down to meet a Grey kitten nuzzled up against his side. Putting two and two together, he chuckled as he stroked his fingers under Shade's chin. "You don't need to shift, m'lady. I just..." he paused, his cheeks shifting to a pink hue once again before resuming, "I have never slept with another. I have lived a solitary life for the most of my past."

She continued to puur as she stood up and padded over to the pillow. Well, I think that's about to change. Don't worry about me though. I don't mind shifting. She curled up against th knights chest, listening to his heart beat. Shade yawned a bit and snuggled closer to Kelligan. Her purrs slowly trailed off as she drifted off to sleep, finding comfort in being so close to the knight. Her ears twitched slighlty as she slept, dreaming of all the adventures the pair might have.

Kelligan smiled and nodded at the shifter, wrapping his arm around the kitten as he closed his eyes once more. Sleep enveloped the two as the night passed by. The sun chased dusk away as the morning reached over the horizon, basking the three story mansion with its gentle rays of light. One ray slipped through to wake the knight from his peaceful slumber, poking past his eyelids as they split open. His mouth opened wide in a large yawn, taking his time to stretch and loosen the joints, readying himself for the day. His hand ran over Shade's side to wake her up, chuckling softly to himself as he gazed down upon her rested appearance. Last night was the most peaceful he ever slept, feeling rejuvenated and excited for today. "We must gather our things together, m'lady," he nudged the shifter lightly, a grin never leaving the knight's face.

Shade batted at Kelligan's hand as he nudged her, not wanting to leave the warmth of the bed. she sighed as she slowly opened her eyes, blinking at the sudden brightness. She streched as she rolled over, exposing her soft belly. She looked up at the knight, seeing him grinning she started to purr. She shifted back into her human form and yawned. "Do we have to go now? Can't we wait until, a few hours from now?" She looked up at the knight, hopeful, but knowing what the answer would be.

The knight laughed and stood up from the bed, stretching his body towards the ceiling as he grunted, the muscles shifting and flexing to support his warm-up. "We aren't leaving just yet, m'lady. I am going to prepare breakfast for us," he notioned towards the staircase right outside, his smile brimming with confidence and content, "You can rest for a little while if you want to. It will be a little while before it is prepared."

With the last sentence, his upper body tipped forward in a graceful bow before retreating towards the staircase, heading down the rickety stairs and over to the storage cabinet. The food was arranged in order, all fresh to the date for the best tasting quality. His hand slowly grazed over the maple and oak shelves, surveying the variety of ingredients and combinations, beginning by grabbing a loaf of bread and freshly churned butter, safely contained in a wooden bowl. Placing the two in the center of the table, his hands returned to the cabinet. Like two hunting dogs, Kelligan's fingers wrapped around an assortment of fruits, dropping them into a hand woven basket with an arched handle, then going back for freshly laid eggs. As he struck the fire with flint and tinder, he gently blew into the stack of logs to commence cooking.

Shade stretched out on the bed, soaking up the sun shinning down on her. She barely paired attention to Kelligan, too comfortable to be aware of the outside world. After a few moments she stood up and trudged towards the stairs. Sliding down the railing once again. She landed, this time though, as a human.

She walked towards Kelligan silently, her feet not making a sound on the floor. She came up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist. "What are you making?" She looked around his side at the pot, her ears perked up in curiosity.

His nerves sparked up his spine as he felt a pair of arms wrap around his body, turning his head around to spot a curious looking shifter. His hands worked by themselves, as if by magic as he cracked the eggs open, letting the yolk and whites inside to slide out into the pot, then retrieving a fresh bottle of milk and pouring about half of it into the mix. As the right hand clenched the mixing spoon, rotating it in a counter clockwise motion, the other hand snagged the salt, pepper and other spices to add and bring flavor to the scrambled eggs. "Oh, I am just making some scrambled eggs, with bread and butter and fruit," he smiled down at Shade, placing his free hand over hers as they are wrapped over his waist.

The smell of cooked eggs permeated the air, notifying the knight that the breakfast was ready to serve. Pulling out two plates, he divvied out the eggs and placed them on the table. "Breakfast is served, m'lady," he noted with a gentle smile on his face.

She takes a deep breath in. "Mmm, they smell so good." Her stomach growls and she looks down, hiding the slight blush that started to color her cheeks. She continued to watch Kelligan cook, seemingly mesmerized by his hands.

Shade let go as he finished, following him to the table and taking a seat. "Thank you kind sir." She smiles at the knight. She waits for Kelligan to sit down before starting to eat.

The knight proceeded to sit down at the table, picking up a knife in one hand and fork in the other. Slowly, but surely, the food on his plate began to disappear into his throat and stomach, taking full, lengthy bites in between. Minutes past as Kelligan enjoyed his breakfast with his new companion. It had been a while since he had time to eat a proper meal in the morning, so it was relaxing to say the least. With a steady stretch, he placed the silverware down upon the table, sighing in relief at the nutrition that rested within his body now. The sun wrestled its way through the window, spearing through trees and branches to enter the household, filling it with a gentle, warm light. His eyes squinted as he gazed out into the inviting sky, taking time to enjoy such a peaceful day before standing up.

His feet touched the ground before moving up to his room, gathering all of the inventory that he would need. Two spare sets of clothing were the first to enter his knapsack, then stuffing in a toolkit, for emergency reasons. Along with the basic necessities, he paused to grab a pendant. It was given to him from an old friend and mentor of his. Inside of the pendant held a small picture of the two, ready to head off into the Royal Knights' training ground. His hand clenched tightly around the piece of metal, holding it close to his heart before dropping it into the sack. Kelligan returned to Shade quickly before waiting for the shifter to pack up, wearing a full set of leather armor for lighter weight. Less encumbered meant more stamina, and if the knight were to go on such along adventure, he would require as much stamina as he could expend.

Swiftend replied to the two as he nudged his equine head through a window. The saddle was already positioned on his back, seated for two and storage as the warhorse waited for his partner and new friend.

Shade quickly finished just a moment after Kelligan. She stood up and walked into the next room, exploring the house a bit more before they left, she was very curious about the knight, he confused her at times.

Her ears perked up as he left the room and went up to his room, she went outside to go visit Swiftened while she waited. While out there she had an idea. She studied Swiftened very carefully before shifting into a horse exactly like him, except for her eyes, which were still green. She stood outside the the house, next to Swiftened.

Shade nickered quietly as she saw Kelligan sit down to wait for her. She had no belongings so she wasn't sure what he was doing. She found another window, closer to Kelligan than Switened's. She poked her head through and looked over at the knight expectantly.

The knight gazed out the window, tilting his head to the side as he noticed two horses outside in the stables. Swift end replied to his quizzical look with a steady neigh, attempting to show his master who the other horse was. His hands pressed against the smooth wood of the table, shifting his weight back to his feet as he stood, strolling slowly over to the new horse. Kelligan chuckled as he gazed into her emerald eyes, shining beautifully as his hand grazed over her snout with a gentle caress.

The knight chuckled lightly under his breath, placing his left hand upon his hip as his weight shifted to his left leg, tilting the body in the same direction. "What? Do you want me to ride you?" he smiled as he cracked a joke, knowing full well by now that it was Shade as the equine doppelganger.

She shook her head slightly as the knight walked over to her. Looking up at him playfully as he caressed her snout. She pulled her head out of the window and backed away, prancing around a bit before going back to her original form. "I think I will live if you don't ride me." Shade laughed softly as she walked back over to the open window. She boosted herself up onto the window sill.

"Are you ready to go yet?" She playfully whined, not exactly wanting to leave just yet. Her tail swishing back and forth lazily as she looked over her shoulder at Kelligan.

His brows arched upwards as he leaned against the side of the window, thinking for a moment as the tone of her voice contradicted the emotion behind it. Kelligan turned to face Shade as he turned the corner and through the door way, placing a hand against the outside wall. "I am ready to go, but are you ready? You seem hesitant to leave just yet," he noted as he finally picked up what the conflict was in her tone.

"Yeah, I guess. It's just so nice here... I finally feel as if I fit in." She sighs before hopping down and walking over to the knight. Shade gives him a smile, finally making up her mind. She goes behind him and starts pushing him towards Swiftened. "Alright, time to go. Lift up your feet and walk." She laughs cheerfully, impatient to leave and have an adventure.
