Kageyama stayed quiet as he walked along the empty path with Tsukiko, not really paying attention to where he was going and being trapped in his own thoughts. He wasn't sure why he panicked when Hinata admitted to feeling something; Kageyama wasn't even sure what exactly the ginger felt. The man was just aware that he and Hinata were friends, but it felt so... different. He was only used to focusing on nothing but volleyball with Hinata, constantly tossing a ball late at night in either's room, playing games before bed, going to festivals. Kageyama knew he didn't have many friends, the people on the team being the only ones he really hung out with, but he really only had one best friend, and that was Hinata. Everything had changed once they graduated it seemed and though Kageyama hadn't changed, he had a sinking feeling that Hinata did. Everybody did. Suddenly, Kageyama felt extremely alone, as if he was the only one in a large sea of people who hadn't changed. And that was exactly what it was.
A soft voice interrupted his thoughts, his attention turning towards the tall girl beside him.
"Are you ignoring me, Tobio-chan?" She inquired with a giggle; her voice gentle and causing warmth to spread in his stomach. Something seemed so familiar about this girl, this woman, and Kageyama couldn't place his finger on it. Her eyes were a nice shade of brown, reminding him of hot tea in the middle of winter, and her hair was lush and long. He got a sudden urge to touch the brown locks, noticing how the paleness of her skin was aesthetically coupled with the dark tones of her hair and eyes. She looked soft, pretty, feminine.
Not at all like a short, athletic boy with obnoxiously bright hair.
Kageyama was temporarily startled to find a hand being waved in his face, blushing when he realised he'd been caught staring. Admiring.
"Tobioooo," Tsukiko teased, dark eyes glinting with mirth. Kageyama felt angered by the expression, but he found himself attracted to it, too.
"What?" he asked irritably.
"We're here."
He made a noise of slight surprise, having been caught up in his thoughts that he didn't realise it'd been around fifteen minutes already without talking and they had arrived at the coffee shop. Kageyama reached to open the door, feeling his heart thud against his chest as Tsukiko gave him a familiar smile.
