Since Admins are intimidating and freaky creatures, this thread provides you (the members of Iwaku) an opportunity to ask me (the intimidating, freaky creature) anything you like without having to feel awkward about it. I'm sure once you notice that I'm a complete dork who loves abusing alliteration in abundance, you'll feel much less concerned about talking to me! So ask away. 8D

Of course, we have to lay down some ground rules.

HOW TO PLAY (AND HOW NOT TO):

1. Click the thing (see below for the thing) and fill out the form. Your question will be sent anonymously to an undisclosed pit of Tartarus where I will read it and probably side-eye it before attempting to type an awkward reply. I will have no idea who to blame.

2. I will answer literally every question as long as it's not in violation of site policy and is actually a question. Pls dun send me your diaries and love confessions, frands.

3. Don't sign your name on your question. If you really wanna ask without being anonymous, just do it here. If you sign your name I'm editing it out.

4. No fancy BBCode. It is a nightmare to copy and paste. D: Simple bold/italic/etc. coding is fine.

The roleplay of my dreams would be a gritty horror/supernatural setting heavily influenced by Judeo-Christian scripture, with themes of humanity overcoming impossible odds and circumstances. Or you know, satirical anime parody that turns into existential psychological horror. Tough call.

Hi! What is something you would like to do but you have not gotten the chance yet?

I've never been outside of the US. I want to fix that. Long term life goal is to travel to numerous countries, starting with Canada or the UK.

That really depends on the rules. Some rules are not meant to be bent. Others are guidelines which are meant to be adapted on a situational basis. Kinda hard to answer this with no context! Generally it's best not to bend rules if you're not prepared for consequences, I will say that much.

Why we don't have a multiple thread roleplay option here in iwaku? I'm not talking about epic roleplays, I'm just talking about the option to make your roleplays have multiple threads organized in one place, instead of needing to create and throw multiple threads at the forums like the In Characters forums and link them with links like I've seen many GMs do trying to improvise the thing

We actually used to have a system that let people do this. It didn't work out very well and wasn't intuitive, so we reverted to the more traditional forum method. There are other addons out there, but we have to find one that works with all of our other addons and is affordable AND ends up working for our user base. We'll always keep an eye out for possibilities, of course.

How do you still manage to breath between RL, Iwaku administration, role playing, and everything else?

Oh, wait, I imagine you want an actual site update answer. 8D I'd love to have more roleplay-specific features, which unfortunately are not in high enough demand for a broad market to be readily available. Basically a feature like Clans but with the kind of mini-forums we've always wanted (actual thread functionality) and which are easily moderated (currently, only Security Staff and Admins can moderate Clans due to permission issues), with the ability to post in character under character nicknames and let people set all kinds of custom graphics and even have personal wikis.

More practically, I'd like to be able to pay our Staff. <3

Funny story, a while back Diana and Pahn and Jorick and I were messing with Litphoria and it turned out Jorick had more things on his list that were compatible with me than even Diana's. We're talking almost 100% interest, rofl, I shit you not. Judging by the look of things it'd be some kind of super freaky BDSM political intrigue fantasy number with probably catboys lesbian elves.

If you had to be turned into an animal and live that way for a year, which animal would you choose?

I'd be a kitten because kittens have it made. I could just be adorable at the stupid humans and they would cater to my every whim, with less chance of being forced into ugly sweaters than a puppy would have. Plus I could be a total shit and they'd just handwave it as being a cat and part of my adorableness.

You find yourself standing in front of a lever by a railroad track. You hear a train speeding toward you. You look farther down the track and see it splits two ways: one path has one person tied to the tracks, the other has five people tied to the tracks. A voice in your head says that the train is heading toward the five people, but you can pull the lever and switch the track to the line with only one person on it. Do you leave the lever alone or do you pull it? How do you morally justify your inaction that leads to death or your active participation in a murder?

Well okay then. I'll bite.

I would pull the lever. People will die no matter what I do, and pulling the lever saves more people. I would possibly try anyway to get to the one person to untie them after doing so because one person is easier to free than five, but I would be aware that I probably don't have time. I don't think I would ever be able to truly justify it to myself and that's how it should be. Full justification of taking a life means you're probably a narcissistic sociopath. But I wouldn't be able to justify standing by and doing nothing, either. I'm a murderer either way, better a murderer of one and savior of five than the other way around.

What are your views and thoughts on religion?

So I was actually raised with absolutely no religious teaching. My parents were pagans but they decided to leave my brother and me out of it, so all I knew is that my parents had a lot of friends over who liked to dress up and that my mother burned sage to clean the house somehow. (I thought she literally meant cleaning it, like the smoke killed germs or something.) Eventually both of my parents ended up atheist, but they didn't discuss religion with me until I was older. In some ways this was cool, because it let me totally make up my own mind; in other respects, this was incredibly confusing and isolating when I hit Kindergarten or so and realized that the book of kid's Bible stories that I read in my doctor's office lobby were supposed to actually have happened according to almost everyone around me.

Once I figured out that God was a thing and people took him very seriously, I learned to stay very quiet about it. Especially when my parents sent me to a universally Christian private school for middle school because they wanted me out of the public school system. Honestly, sometimes it SUCKED. I would read a lot of different books with different religious beliefs and practices from all kinds of cultures searching for something that I could read and think okay yes, I believe all of this just so I could have something to say. It was one thing to not be Christian, but where I grew up it was even worse to say you didn't believe in anything. It was such the default, in fact, that I would tell people I didn't go to church and they would start opining about Christians who don't attend church.

The flip side of this is that I learned so much on my own about different religious teachings without any person in particular forcing those beliefs on me. I got exposed through my own curiosity to a lot of different cultures and ways of thinking, and I believe it influenced my open-minded stance toward religion and people in general.

In the end, I ended up identifying as a spiritualist. Agnostic isn't quite the right word, but I'm not exactly pagan either and I can't name a deity I worship. I believe in things we can't see. I believe there is something greater than me that brings meaning to my experiences and which dictates things which need to happen in order for me to learn and grow as a person, but I also believe I have control over how I react to those lessons. I am open to the idea of ghosts and other non-corporeal beings, partly based on strange experiences in my childhood which can't totally be explained, but I'm also not about to believe in them blindly. I think that many religious differences are caused by an unfortunate view that everything is mutually exclusive, which I don't necessarily share. I find religion and mythology and belief absolutely fascinating and they're all things I'm very drawn to explore in my writing. I think I could be wrong about all of these beliefs and that is totally okay with me.

I don't know what you mean by mimicking Jorick, so I'll just answer. If I was forced to choose a theme to ban from Iwaku forever, it would be diaper pony porn because these eyes saw far too much of it a few years back. Apologies to any diaper pony enthusiasts.

I like to read fiction but I don't get as much free time these days to do it.
