What the hell even was this? Lento had seen his fair share of weird shit in the past, but this...man, this is why you open doors instead of breaking them. They could have just closed the door then and pretended that nothing was in that place. Feeling just a little bit of bile rising up the back of his throat, he turned away from the tentacled mass that was skewering the girl. Aivery was still outside, which was...shit what do they even...

The archer took a deep breath there, and then said, "Aivery, I'll keep watch outside with the others. Hall, you think you can just, I don't know, pull her out?"

Dammit, the bigger question would be what they were even going to do after they freed her. Do they leave the sewers then? Yeah, it sounded like they had to, if she were to have a chance of surviving...

Wait.

What if she was one of the sacrifices to the Insect King?

"Really, you want me to pull her out? She's impaled dammit! I can't do a thing right now-Oh screw it, you asked for it! She dies it's your fault!" He yelled, as he dropped his axe, and charged toward the mass of tentacles, and the girl. He grasped the tentacle that had impaled the woman, and used his free hand to try and wrap an arm around.

Now he attempted to first pull the tentacle out. If that was successful, he would pull the girl out too afterward.

"Yah, sure thing!" The Halfing said. Steeling himself, Aivery tried to remember those injured who had set foot into his temple before. He's helped with many things before, and this one shouldn't be too different. Filling his mind of normal traps and injuries she could be suffering from, he switched places with Lento.

Entering the room, he began to fee a little uneasy. Not by the girls injuries, but rather what was causing them. He knew nothing about what that thing was. For all he knew it could be poisonous. He waited for the barbarian to hopefully tear the tentacle out so he could study it after stabilizing the girl.

The tentacled iron maiden was the most spiteful device of pain they found till now.

"No, don't do that!" The delayed Ron's response came with a new scream from the girl. When Hall was to pull her two more tentacles impaled her left kidney region and gagged her mouth. The mass was getting more vivid and angrier at them for touching its plaything. "If she was locked here then it's better we deal with the main problem first."

"I know someone would love a domesticated monster like that... Well, we can't do anything." Rina shrugs, her emotions sealed off. The little girl goes back to the corridor and examines both ways before choosing the new room to have a look.

Nathalia doesn't says anything, she just... stands there. Wide, tearful eyes. Something happening in her mind, or a (series of) bad memories coming back to haunt the poor girl.

The girl in the iron maiden probably can't talk. She is awake and conscious but haven't said a word till now.

Hallbjörn growled, he wasn't happy now. He picked up his axe, and gave a true battlecry. Filled with both rage, and courage no one would normally see. "You foul beast, you shall perish by my axe!" He yelled, as he attempted to swing, to cut a good chunk of the tentacles, and not the girl. He quite obviously wanted all the attention on him now, wanting to fight to save this woman, rather than let her die.

As Hall's axe lifts up from the ground a fast appendage comes out from the under mass and grappels his left ankle, throwing him up and back some feet.

"Damn, that's why I said to not do that!" Ron stands between the felled barbarian and the iron maiden, receiving some attacks and having his clothes ripped little by little. "Go back, now! I'm coming right behind you!" A tentacle slaps his face, bruising his left cheek.

(Hall lost 1 Class Dice because damage)

Hallbjörn pushed off the ground, Standing next to the man, "I will not leave you. I am here to help. We are brothers in combat, and no less than that." He said proudly, as he raised his axe once more. He seemed determined to make sure everything but the beast, walked away alive. He charged forward once more, swing low, to hit the lower part of the beasts mass. Using all of his strength again, to attempt this blow.

Again, Hall is threw upwards by that same tricky tentacle from before. The little girl is trying her best to not scream and deconcentrate the couple, but the blood loss makes her goes whiter at every second. The gag in her mouth forces itself up, leaving a good space to her to breath and... scream again if the monster decides to impale her again.

"Guys, when are you coming?" Rina says next from the new route. "You can't help her now, leave at that." She was holding her sword with the same grip from the other battles.

Nathalia yelps when Lento touches her skin, following the archer without a word. (Time travelled action)

To think that this monster was so strong that even their 48 inch bicep barbarian couldn't do jackshit against it. It looked like the other members of the party were wanting to retreat as well, and ultimately...Lento had no idea how his arrows would do anything against it. He grit his teeth, watched as their frontline was pretty much shredded against the enraged beast, and made a decision.

"Hallbjorn, we're retreating for now! There's a reason why the monster hadn't eaten the girl yet! We need a plan for this!"

Hopefully, the barbarian wasn't one of those chauvinistic, heroic, dumbheaded types, but...yeah, maybe Hallbjorn would get the message...

Without waiting any further, the archer half-dragged the frozen Nathalia with him, following behind Rina.

Aivery knew he had to save that girl.Iron maidens were already no fun, but a tentacled iron maiden was a little too much.

Taking out his handy dandy magic book, he shot a laser towards the tentacled beast, hoping to lop off a tentacle or two.

Aivery's magical shot strikes the upper part of the mass, almost destroying the metal head of the iron maiden. The little girl yelps, her eyes widening as more blood oozes out from her injury and now a bird boy was aiming at her head.

Hallbjörn growled as he got up again. He muttered under his breath, as he pulled off the small hand axe from his belt. Now he just seemed angry. "I am sorry young one...you do not deserve to suffer, like this. May the spirits guide you in death." He said calmly, as he raised his hand back, and then whipped his whole arm forward. He was not able to stomach watching the beast further torture the girl, so he did what he felt was good. He attempted to throw his axe right at the girl's head. It was a good thing he carried both a great axe, and a hand axe. Gave him something to throw in these situations.

Now a double-edged tentacled blade forms from one of those appendages and deflects both Hall's attacks. Two other tentacles assume a weaponized form: an sword and a pike. Maybe if they attacked more they could make their enemy simulates arrows and... magic?

"Guuuuuys... Oh, are you alive?" Rina blinked when Lento comes with Nathalia, the dark elf coming back from another state of mind. "A-a-are we going to leave her like that!? W-we can't! She is o-only a-" "Stop. I know it, but they didn't noticed the floor yet." "The... floor?"

"Hall, go back, now! NOW!" Ron receives two more cuts in his face, then the pike tentacle impales through his right thigh. "GAAh!"

"Dammit boy, you're not getting left!" Hallbjörn growled, as he grabbed Ron by the waist, and hefted him over his shoulder. He was wounded, but he did hold a no man, left behind policy. So he practically carried the other male with him, and attempted to sprint the fuck out of that room without getting hit again. "This is some serious bullshit by the way! How did these two talk you into this?"

Lento breathed slowly, trying to calm his beating heart. The alchemist had been one thing, an enemy that was still human, and could be killed if he got an arrow through the head. The insects were another thing, still weak enough that he could kill them in a single shot. But that tentacle monster inside the iron maiden...

"What about the floor, Rina?"

If only they still had the grenades...

With the two meat bags retreating, Aivery figured it was in his best interest to leave as well. Still, he wanted to at least hit the damn thing once. Covering the two men, Aivery shot more beams mostly as a covering fire, still hoping that one will hit it.

"Well, the iron maiden is open under, for allowing the mass to come from below." She scratches the back of her head with her free hand, smiling. "Our 'Insect King' is most probably not an insect."

Nathalia shivers, her next question was something she needed to ask but didn't wanted to. "B-but how... do you know so much..."

"Huh?" Rina tilts her head. "Because-" Hall comes running, Aivery following with his magical barrage; her response is lost. Aivery's magic did the same as before, burning some tentacles but overall doing nothing against the mass.

"Heh," Lento smirked, despite how absolutely shitty he felt after that failed encounter, "Wanna try using your anti-bacteria potion on the tentacle thing then? That does coincide then, with how the townspeople had been sacrificing girls this whole time..."

Which meant the insects...the archer grimaced, all his appetite lost, as he decided to open the newest door. For some reason, it felt like every door that Hall had smashed so far had opened up to an unfortunate scene.

As Lento forces the wooden door inside, a loud "click" can be heard from inside. Then, various clank clank and a bong; someone barricated the door with furniture and a broken banjo. Probably an ancient room, as those furniture had more than 40 or 50 years of use. Right at the bed was a medium-sized chest made of brown wood and red metal bars, including the red metal lock.

An older room this time, huh? It looked like it had been undisturbed for a long time, and that treasure chest DID pique his interest, but...Lento couldn't trust this place any more. Narrowing his eyes, the archer asked, "So, what do you all think about this?"
