Based off Fallout - No prior knowledge needed!

In 2077 Cities were wiped off the map. Safe zones quickly fell. Smog enveloped the world. Less than one-third of the human population lives. It has been one-hundred years since the bombs fell, wiping civilization away while creating new and more dangerous wildlife. Yet, here you are.

Only those of utter most importance were spared the bombs and what had fallen after. Those chosen were escorted to hidden vaults to live within, often deep within a cavern or hill. A few of the measly 150 vaults succumbed to the environment, trapped beneath new or expanding rivers. Others lasted for years without issue until they ran out of power or sickness took them all. Some are still closed, unaware that a world exists outside their door, while others hastily opened to find nuclear waste taking them.

However, behind each vault lies a secret. Each was constructed for a different reason. For example, Vault 11 was to many, one of the most cruel. The inhabitants were told to sacrifice one human each year, but if they refused, all vault dwellers would perish. When really, all along they had to decide not to sacrifice their own, and the vault would congratulate them on being a "shining example to humanity". The doors would open, and they were allowed to leave. Sadly, the last five survivors found this out and all but one ended their life. Or perhaps the one murdered the rest.

Essentially, nukes fell across the world, only select individuals with skills were elected to survive. Each vault is different. One might be merely to repopulate, another could be medical research. Perhaps your vault was opened too early and you are the only survivor, or your vault only just opened. Whatever it may be, your main goal is to survive. Small towns have set up across the lands. There are only a few cities now. Join us in humanities survival.

Create your own vault, if you wish. Req is my co-storyteller so feel free to ask him questions and do abide by his rules!

Name: Requiem "The Outsider" Mortalis

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Vault: 21

Vault Purpose: Testing the effects of gambling addiction on a societal level (Something along those lines anyway.

About Vault: Vault 21 was designed as a gambler's paradise. Filled originally with compulsive gamblers, all things are settled with gambling, disputes, deals, everything. Being located in New Vegas, the Vault was in a relative safe zone due to Mr. House's preventative measures. This meant that it was safe to leave the Vault fairly early on, though many chose to stay.

Why did you leave: Freedom from the rules of the Overseer. He appreciates the organization and how things are done, but he and the Overseer didn't quite see eye to eye.

Appearance:

History: Requiem was a card player. Not just any card player, but a great one. His luck was legendary, and he, from a young age, learned to make use of it. His luck extended pretty far, and so others were pretty jealous of him. Most considered him lucky because his father was the Overseer. He however, did not.

His father believed that keeping people in the Vault was important. A way of keeping things safe. Requiem believed that the only way to move on was to leave the safety of home, and go out into the world, even if the world they were going out into was just New Vegas. The disagreement raged, and eventually, it came down to a game of cards. His father was nearly as good as Requiem himself when dealing with the cards.

The game was tense, and they battled for the right to choose. In the end though, Requiem did win, and was consequently made Overseer. A Position he immediately surrendered before leaving the vault.

Since then, he's made quite a name for himself as The Outsider, the Overseer who left his Vault to explore the wastes. He also made a fair bit of money on the strip before he left though, and has a nice place in one of the old casino's, uninhabited. The Outsider trained himself with the rifle before heading off into the wastes, and so prepared for anything, he headed off.

Reactions: Thomas McTavish
Name: Sean "Hey you" Hillshire
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Vault: 16
Vault Purpose: Test rebelliousness of people in tight spaces
About Vault: Vault 16 was a test to see just how much oppression people are willing to take to keep things organized. The initial population was several powerful political leaders and several outspoken revolutionary leaders. Every type of government imaginable has risen and fallen over the last several years, from democracy to communism and everything in between and to the sides. With each new government came a new revolution, and each successful overthrow a long enough period of peace to rebuild the population. The last rebellion was to open the vault door, and the rebels won. From the start of the rebellion, only 68 of the initial 300 total have survived the devastating internal warfare.
Why did you leave: Rick was one of the rebels to fight for the opening of the vault, why would he stay?
Appearance:Main.jpg
History
(Optional): Raised a natural Anarchist by his father, Sean continued the Hillshire Bloodline's legacy of aiding rebellion within Vault 16, he was orphaned as a teenager when his parents were killed in the rebellion he helped to end. With the death of his beloved father, Sean vowed he would not let his papa down, and trained himself to fight, both armed and unarmed. The nick name of "Hey you" is a joke for Sean, as most people in the vault called him like that because he was an orphan, and he was often a mischievous boy, stealing items or trashing "government" property. Sean now travels around, trying to find other vaults and maybe a nice place to settle down for a while, but he knows deep down that it'll never happen.

@Rainbowwave Not to be an ass, but there were only 150 vaults.

Actually, more accurately, only 122, and 8th generation kid is highly unlikely in a 100 year span, just saying. The average age of giving birth for the entire family line would have to be like, twelve.

It said 150 in the top post.

Okay, sorry. Vault 121, and 4th generation.

Good job, Req. Maybe you should read the intro first :P Kidding!

And bios look great so far, guys! Wait another day or a bit less. If nobody else joins, I may throw in another girl.

Shush, not my fault you didn't tell me you changed it when we were talking about it. Also guys, you don't have to be vault born. I'll be writing up a character sheet for non vault born, and more interestingly, mutants

oh, we can? :) Can I make another character then? She's going to be a goul, working at vault 121.

Sure, as long as you can handle more than one charrie :)

I can! :) So what would you like me to put instead of vault and vault purpose?

Full Character Shell for Mutations, sorry for the delay in posting, I've been rather busy. Italics are assuming you're an experiment. Ghouls are standard for the Wastelands and would be treated as a wastelander, with the Ghoul Species. If you have any you would like to add, PM myself or Miss Silent

About Vault:
Why Did You Leave/How Did You Escape:

Appearance:
History:

There will be (Assuming Our Benevolent Host Doesn't Object), a few variations of mutation.

The FEV was not limited to the Super Mutants. No, they were but a branch of Mutation experimented upon. There were several others. Most of these are much more variant than the Super Mutants as Super Mutants were considered the 'Perfect' Mutation, mostly due to their capacity for being controlled, and their sterility, which the other mutations lacked.

Vault 23, located in what used to be Michigan created an avian like Mutation that caused those inflicted to grow feathers and vestigial wings, which they hoped with further research and experimentation would enable people to fly. It is rumoured that there are some bits of technology that can enable flight where wing alone cannot. An unforseen side effect however, was the weakening of the immune system. Avian mutants are more susceptible to disease and radiation.

Vault 47, located in what used to be Florida focused on an aquatic mutation, giving the afflicted imperfect gills allowing them to breather underwater for short periods of time (Usually no more than forty-five minutes), a 'slimy' skin, and an unfortunate requirement to keep damp.

Vault 64, Located in Southern California was dedicated to the study of plants, not unlike Vault 22, however 64's study was the assimilation of plantlife into the human body. They became plant people. Requiring mostly water and sunlight to survive, it was considered a great step towards survival in the wastes as the plant people were virtually immune to radiation. Fire however, not so much.

Vault 95, Located in the remains of Washington was designed in a very odd manner. The Vault was kept completely dark, and vault dwellers worked with nightvision goggles when necessary. The mutation studied there was on Vampirism. The way this was done is unknown, but the mutated gained the ability to see in the dark, recover limited amounts of health from drinking blood, and a very strong aversion to light, so much so that they burn easily.

Vault 138, Located in Georgia was the last of the big research facilities. It was set up to splice human and reptilian DNA together, giving them a natural tough hide, and a higher sensory level. They are also the most varied as all kinds of reptiles were attempted, ranging from serpents, to chameleons, to the four legged lizards. They do tend to suffer from the same weakness to the cold however, and for some reason, energy weapons and plasma weapons pose more of a threat to them.
