The human's face contorted to reflect his bewildered state of mind.

"What?" He blinked.

"It speaks?" He added, taking a step back still having a death grip on the stone until his knuckles turned white. That's when he noticed there was other creatures about the place, he completely surrounded by creatures. He noticed the half-elf downstream while everyone else likely had their eyes on him and that's when it occurred to him he is the only human here.

"Not good." He murmured to himself.

Shake Up!

However.......

More words. Yes. Distraction turned back to rock, for a second or two. To human face after. "Critter" eyes locked on human eyes. He shivered, ears turned even more down as he shook his head. Hrrr! Deer was not forgotten, but...

... "Wet, sore... cold and hungry, yes!" Clawed hands clamped to wet belly as "Gurrgle!" struck again... "I speak, you speak, they speak..." Tail lifted from water to wave towards half-elf and dog-girl... "Not good to stay cold, wet, hungry or sore."

With that said, ignoring the death-gripped rock, he managed his way back onto "dry" land. Shook himself vigorously from end of four-nostrilled snout to tip of tail, then stood there, suddenly struck by a very strange sensa...*

Ahhh-ktttphttt!

Woah... what was that! Eyes wide as he stood up on twos, a bit wobbly, hands clamped over nostrils, feeling... Ooo... heh. A look, wide-eyed, as he pulled hands away and saw...

... Ewww.......

Not knowing what else to do at this moment, he simply sat on his haunches (to keep from falling over) and stared at the mess in his hands. His fur and now evident mane finally able to ruffle, despite dampness.

There hadn't really been a whole lot else running through the lamia's mind as she watched the short scene unfold before her. The deer had only been such a brief distraction that it was all but forgotten as she continued to rise bit by bit upon her scaled lower half upwards to see what was going on.

Before long she had rise up and over the water quite a ways, lips partially opened to reveal a set of fangs within that seemed a little less opaque than the rest of her mostly human teeth.

It hadn't really occurred to her what she was about to do was either bold or brave. Just that it was simply the right thing to do. Not that she'd feel very safe with someone holding a rock that large over her. Even if it landed on her scaled body it'd be extremely painful. With something as small as that creature it could be deadly.

Like a bolt her body shot forward. A blink of an eye could miss the action as she aimed to take down the man wielding the rock and lash her lengthy coiled lower half around his extremities and arms. The urge to bite was strong, but resistance was stronger, unsure of how bad her bite would end up.

He took a step backwards. Something in his nature did not appreciate the creature's strange behavior or its speech.

The grip on the stone abated a fraction the moment he saw the strange creature retreat back on the mossy embankment then took another step backwards to get as much distance between him and the creature as possible without making someone excited.

The one thing he did not expect was he felt something strong and scaly hit him in the arm then felt the stone fly from his hand and then his chest felt the impact then he fell back. His head hit cold water then something solid, most likely the rocks in the riverbed from shallow water.

His vision blurred and all he could think of was "By my maker, they got me."

Creature's Nature...

Hrrrrrr…!

This strange sensation in his sinuses had gone away with his explosive sneeze. He felt… fine. Despite the evidence in his hands, he appeared unharmed. And it didn't look like the slime. Didn't… *sniff-sniff*… smell like the slime. Didn't… *lick*… taste like the slime…….

Suddenly, sharp quills stood on end, fur puffed out best as it could, his attentions diverted to the sudden ruckus of lamia and human… fighting. Sight, sound, scent… FEEL! ... yes, he felt something well up from deep inside, perhaps some part of his species' nature, perhaps some… some impression from a past he couldn't remember, if past he had. No. No! Thoughts of snot wiped aside, he rushed to the water, not happy about getting wet so soon after he'd gotten some manner of dry. But. But he FELT…

"No! No! Bad snake lady!" *Glare*

A splash as he threw himself back into the river, only caring that the stone-holding one was under water. And an intense feeling that being under water in this way was very, very bad!

The human and the four legged creature had fallen into the stream and was no longer seen.

An arrow whistled through the air. It came from behind the leaves of the trees above and flung towards the lamia, piercing straight into her head. On the grass where she stood, the lamia's limp body struck the floor. There she was still and not moving. Red liquid pooled under her head.

A slender female with a bow descended from above. Her landing was soft and soundless. A serious frown was on her face. Why she ended the life of the lamia was a mystery. On her head, she wore cloths like a turban, concealing her hair and ears. Her cloths are that of a petty village maid; mundane and uninteresting. But her irises were black, at the same time, bright seemingly glowing. The color of her skin is brown. Her lips pink fresh.

The deer from before slowly appeared from the darkness. It calmly placed itself beside the female and once more accessed the leftover sentient creatures. Its expression nonchalant.

"Leave this forest now or share the fate of the legless creature," insisted the female. Her posture sturdy and balanced. "None is welcome here."
