As opposed to actually

"Got a long list of ex-lovers."

One of the most notable examples for me is this song by Dobie Gray. Since I was young I always thought it was "give me the Beach Boys and free my soul" instead of the actual phrasing. I'm not sure why, but even with the knowledge I have now I still sing along just the same.

"You're gonna go fuck it" as opposed to "You're gonnna go far, kid"

basically the same meaning, right?
