This is a sci-fi/fantasy RP. The Players are young Mages who have been brought to the Academy in order to develop their magical talent and protect their city. They will fight monsters that roam in the wilderness, investigate nefarious plots against King and Country, and so on. But that is all in their future. For now, after a bit of general plot setup, let us have the characters meet up, get to know one another, etc. We can feed them to monsters later.

The plot so far:
The students meet their teacher, Professor Yuki Okamoto, and have their first few days of instruction.

About a week into their Academy life, they are unexpectedly sent out on a mission to investigate the town of Normaden. They learn that a Witch, a powerful monster that sometimes grows from humans with magical potential, has developed in the region. Their Professor takes on the role of exterminating the Witch itself, leaving the students to handle some of its Familiars. During the students' fight, though, they are unexpectedly brought face to face with an Angel. After a fierce fight, the students are victorious and return to their homes safely.

Back in Uruk, the plots grow thicker. A massive force of Angels has gathered near Babylon, and the head honchos discuss plans of how to deal with the threat. The Academy's Headmaster learns that the Angel that the students encountered was sent by the Chief of the Galileians. What could Chief Herschel be plotting, and why involve these young Mages?

Completely unaware of these plots, the students are assigned another mission: to resolve an incident over who should possess a valuable research subject. They will be escorted and monitored by Essence Parker, one of the academy's Student Council members...

"I won't." Because she had no questions.

Suilen blinked, taking all of half a second to take the Explorer Module AMB. It was heavier than a bracelet, that was for sure, but she didn't mind the weight either. With a nod at Professor Okamoto, the girl pivoted on her unpecked foot, smacked Drafi with her cane, and was just about ready to snatch herself a window seat when she was beset by a fluffy pink girl. Dyed? Suilen leaned in slightly, on the very cusp of broaching personal boundaries, before taking a quick sniff. Couldn't smell any sort of chemical at least. Pretty eyes too. First time she'd seen someone with irises that could literally be described as jewel-like.

"You've got nice eyes," Suilen said, leaning back. "Genetics, or cosmetic?"

Regardless of whether or not her curiousity was satisfied though, the dark-haired girl would stride off soon, heading towards a desk. The administrator didn't mention anything like class seating order, so the window seats it was. Seating herself beside a humanoid spirit that had such impressive physique that one of the older students in class was already making moves on them, Suilen was just about to settle in when she was beset by yet another friendly face. Red hair, gold eyes, sorta babyfaced. Voice on the soft side, but maybe that was just his voice.

"Suilen Zelks. Drafi is…" Perched on the windowsill, face practically planted against the glass. Gods know how he got there, but whatever. "…there. Good to know your name. Probably won't forget."

That was a big 'probably'.

Conversation was cut short when Okamoto spoke up again, and off they went to the airdocks. Suilen trailed behind the rest of the group, though not due to any particular lack of mobility. She had seen the place at a distance before, but this was both the first time she was up close with these machines, as well as the first time she'd be riding on them. So of course, the moment the airship lifted off, Suilen was off exploring, her phone in one hand and her cane in the other. The initial jolt as the ship flew off had tripped her up, but once they reached altitude, it was surprisingly smooth despite the roar of the wind. Stepping out onto the deck, she spent much of the two hour long trip poking her head in wherever she could, snapping photos of things she wanted to refer back to later. The scenery below? Definitely. The magical engines at the back? Hell yeah. The crushing disappointment of not being able to see the sky due to having a blimp above? Uhuh. The sails were folded, sadly, so that wasn't enjoyable, but once Suilen found the ladder leading up to the crow's nest, she quickly forgot her disappointment.

Okamoto said many things, but she said nothing about staying out of high places, so that was exactly where Suilen went, with Drafi shadowing her every step of the way…except the riggings, because he kept getting stuck on the gaps between the weaved ropes.

She had some fun at his expense there.

By the time the airship made its landing once more, Suilen's cheeks were flushed red from the cold wind and her hair was a total mess, but she certainly had her fun.

Which meant, of course, that she was due for even more sightseeing fun in Normaden!

As Okamoto released them to cause trouble in the greenery-filled town, Suilen took Almeida's words to heart, and moved in the opposite direction the dark-skinned woman did. Coffee and boring? No please. Reaching back to restore some order to her hair, she headed off in search for something interesting. Maybe Normaden had a street market? Maybe Normaden had a specialized shop full of curios?

Maybe she'll find a visitor's center first then.

another student was introduced to the class, and he seemed a bit too moody for Hibiscus's tastes, although they might become nice friends on the battlefield... Hibiscus shuddered at the thought of being an edgy person once again. At least Lyka could make up for the lack of friendliness for Hibby. Another thought that crossed Hibiscus's mind was that they also had a cane, and used it for support. Maybe once things settle down, or before the battle, Hibiscus could try to heal them with her magic, or maybe they wouldn't be able to do so, as it could have been some sort of genetic thing.

At last, the students could leave, and Hibiscus silently followed the teacher towards the Airdock. Hibiscus wasn't all that strong to begin with, so she refrained from asking to help, although if someone did get injured she could help them that way instead.

Because Hibiscus had done almost nothing in life because of her father, she kept up to date on modern trends, so the two people looked somewhat familiar to Hibiscus, but as she couldn't quite place who they were no matter how much she thought of it for some reason, she decided to drop it, and maybe they would introduce themselves at a later date.

The flight itself was uneventful, and Hibiscus kept mostly to herself as to watch the scenery below in amazement. It wasn't everyday you went flying on a ship after all. Some people had other things to do, like not be amazed at the flight, or trying to spy on the captain, but Hibiscus thought that if that's what they enjoyed doing, then all the more power to them.

Finally, after landing in Normaden a few hours later, Hibiscus wondered what she could do. Shopping with her classmates seemed like fun, but there was something that needed to be done as well. Hibiscus wanted a first-hand account of everything that had been going on, and while Hibiscus could trust the teacher to tell her, she really wanted to hear it for herself. Plus, leaving the teacher alone with Londo seemed like a punishment more than anything, and if someone caused enough trouble to accidentally hurt someone, Hibiscus wanted to be there to solve the problem.

Hibiscus walked up to Almeida, telling her of what she was going to do, "I'd love to join you for coffee, Almeida, but I'm going to go with Miss Okamoto. While I trust her to be safe, I uh... Don't really trust that Londo kid to be honest... Putting him with the teacher kind of seems mean, so I'm going to try and join them so the teacher doesn't have to worry too much! You have fun with everyone else, alright?" Hibiscus said, giving her a small wave before joining the teacher in her walk.

While walking, Hibiscus put on a cheerful smile to the teacher, "I'm going with you, if that's ok, Miss~!" To which Londo responded, "YEA! The more the merrier right? You can team up with me and together we'll be unstoppable in battle! " To which Hibiscus nervously laughed, wondering if it really was ok to go with them after all.

Professor Okamoto
gsaKz4R.jpg

Great. Of course it was Londo that decided to take Professor Okamoto up on the invitation. She suspected the conversation would now go one of two ways: poorly, or very poorly. At least Hibiscus was coming too. Which didn't actually provide much benefit, now that she thought about it. Maybe she could distract Londo? Well, only time would tell.

Accompanied by Londo and Hibiscus (and whomever else wanted to follow), Professor Okamoto would make her way to the Town Hall to meet with the Mayor. Their stroll through town was uneventful, and there was but a short delay while the Mayor finished his previous meeting before they were ushered into his office. The Mayor rose to greet Professor Okamoto and shake her hand, though he wouldn't shake any of the students' unless they were clearly looking to get one. There were two chairs available on the guest side of the desk, one of which was taken by Professor Okamoto.

astyZAW.png

"It's good to see you again, Miss Okamoto. Have you been well?"

"I can't complain. How are your grandchildren?"

"Hahaha, as lively as ever. My son will be out of town next week, so the little ones will be staying with me and the missus. Sorry for making you wait earlier; I'm trying to knock out as much business as I can this week."

"Well, we'll try to get out of your hair as quickly as possible then. How's the situation?"

The Mayor obviously grimaced as he leaned forward slightly to unfurl a map on his desk, "Our scouts got back just a couple hours ago…" He paused, clearly not wanting to finish his statement. "We have confirmed that there is a Witch dwelling on a nearby mountain."

There was immediately a loud scraping noise as Professor Okamoto stood abruptly and pushed her chair back slightly as she did so. "You idiot! How could you let a Witch develop in your borders? Not to mention that you have obviously known about it already, since you "confirmed" it. What the hell were you thinking?"

The Mayor bowed his head at Professor Okamoto's tirade. There was no denial; there was nothing deniable. "... We thought we could handle her without needing to involve the Academy."

"Not her, it." Professor Okamoto sighed in exasperation. "Since you finally bothered to call us, it must have already Turned. We'll deal with it, of course, but I trust you won't try to interfere anymore. We'll discuss later what to do about you harboring a Witch."

"Of course."

"So?" Professor Okamoto plopped back down into her chair, resting one hand on her forehead. "Any information on the Witch?"

"Yes." All of the cheerfulness from earlier was gone from the Mayor's voice, replaced by a resigned meekness. "She- It is dwelling in a cave on Mount Hubert." He pointed to a place on the map on the desk. "There appears to only be a small number of familiars so far, though they tend to travel in packs. We've had sightings of three packs. Thankfully, a local Spirit has been keeping tabs on them. Each pack moves separately, so while you will have to cross through at least one pack's territory, you should only need to fight the one pack on your way to the Witch. After the Witch has been… taken care of, the familiars will be weakened, so cleaning up the other packs shouldn't be a problem."

"A fairly sound plan. We'll start with that and go from there. Do you have a way of contacting this 'local Spirit'?"

"She has a phone; I'll give you her number." He took out a small piece of paper and wrote the contact info on it before handing it over to Professor Okamoto.

"Thanks. Well, we'll be on our way." Professor Okamoto would then stand and leave the room.

The Mayor merely remained seated at his desk, holding his head in his hands. As the Mages departed, he muttered to himself "I'm sorry Mike. We couldn't save her."

Outside the Town Hall, Professor Okamoto turned to face the students that were with her. "Well, we have our info now. Go ahead and get some lunch. We won't be taking any action until the others have met back up with us anyway." Professor Okamoto would herself head over to a burger joint and purchase some food.

Town of Normaden, Central Plaza, 2:00 PM

With the bells on the Town Hall's clock tower announcing the time, Professor Okamoto turned to address her students that had gathered. Hopefully all of them had decided to show up, but if any were absent, she'd just mentally mark them down for dereliction of duty and would take care of tracking them down later. "Right, everyone, this is where the fun begins." She activated her AMB to display a holographic 3D map of their target area.

"Our objective is a Witch that has taken up residence in a mountain cave. Of course, asking you all to fight a Witch yourselves is rather absurd, even by the Academy's standards. Thus, I will have you students handle the Familiars while I move on ahead to defeat the actual Witch. As the Witch is fairly new, its familiars shouldn't be too much of a threat, but you can always reach me with your AMB if you end up needing my assistance. After I've eliminated the Witch and you all have taken care of your familiars, we will utilize local contacts to locate and mop up any surviving familiars. With any luck, we'll be back in town in time for a late dinner.

"Now, are there any questions?"
Though of course the students could consult Professor Okamoto while they traveled, this would be the only opportunity to ask questions or take care of any business before the expedition begins.

Once any tasks had been taken care of, the group would leave Normaden and head out into the woods.

Elisa

In the end, Elisa chose to display her transformation with the bracelet. Rather, she knew it was for naught. "Yeah, it's not going to work out. I chose this bracelet so I can avoid it. I'd rather transform only when it is necessary. The experience is harrowing to say the least. I'm sorry. I hope you understand."

When Ryan had showed up before Elisa, all she could was to give a faint smile at him. She was happy to having seen her but there had been something between them. She couldn't really put it into words. Despite of having many opportunities to approach him before the flight, Elisa couldn't find the words or actions for it.

Elisa tailed the teacher to the airdocks with the usual gang. She had somewhat gotten used to the bracelet now. In the airship, she withdrew to her own machinations, staring outside a window the entire trip with her face and hand against the glass. It was difficult to tell, if she was just that excited about flying. However were the glass panel a mirror, it would have reflected a sad face.

When the time came for the airship to land, she pushed herself off from the window and wore a wide smile on her lips. When Almeida decided that she wanted to go out to explore, Elisa pondered it for a moment; when Almeida called for her, Elisa darted in front of Almeida and took her hand: "Let's go!~"

Elisa appeared cheerful for the entire expedition. Ordering sweets from whatever cafeteria they ended up finding. And enjoying the moment to it's fullest. When bells tolled for them to gather up, she was almost dashing to meet up with others. And she listened carefully to the briefing. (Elisa would also end up buying a small green satchel with a sash that she'd spot in a shop window.)

. . .

After everyone had gathered up, the professor begun to talk about the mission.

She is going to defeat a witch? And we are going to deal with the familiars. This all sounds very scary. What happens, if we end up meeting with the Witch. I'm not sure, if I like this. Elisa would lean over to Almeida. Elisa had made her decision to stay under Almeida's watchful eye. She had no spirit to protect her, so this was for the best.

"The Witch sounds scary... I hope our teacher will be alright." Elisa would say in a quiet voice, it was possible that the professor would hear her. "I'm a little scared about these familiars." Elisa would confess to Almeida and whoever would hear her.

While on the way to the mayor's office, Hibiscus suddenly realized that she recognized the two girls from the airship were both an idol who just debuted, and her manager, the manager being a former idol. How could Hibiscus not recognize them immediately, she was a huge fan of the manager's songs. probably because Alatar didn't know who they were when he made them. Maybe Hibiscus was just so unused to seeing them on TV that the thought didn't click, and having seen an idol in the flesh was something you didn't expect so maybe Hibiscus just didn't recognize her favourite person in the flesh.

Londo, who went with the teacher, was able to experience what the silent treatment was like. Maybe the teacher really thought Londo was super cool and just had to keep silent to prevent her fangirl-ism from showing! Same for the blood chick too! Which brought Londo to a small thought, he never formally introduced himself to her, and he didn't even know her name!

So Londo bumped shoulders with her on the way to the Mayor's, "Yo! I just realized I never gave you the pleasure of a personal intro! I did for the entire class the first day, but I don't think you were there so I am now introducing myself as Londo Sperry, the GREAT! Pleased to meet you!" Londo said, sticking out his hand to shake hers.

Hibiscus stuck her hand out, although a bit reluctantly, "Hibiscus Oswald. I'm uh... Pleased to meet you too!" Hibiscus said, keeping up her friendly personality, even if this boy was a bit out there.

"Hey get your filthy mug off her." A voice said, coming from Hibiscus's pocket. "L-Lyka! That's really rude!" Hibiscus said, showing concern for Londo's well-being because Lyka really was a rude person when Hibiscus wasn't transformed.

"Naw, it's ok! She just can't handle the neutron style~." Londo said, giving Hibiscus the fingerguns, while a groan came from both Londo's and Hibiscus's pockets.

At the mayor's office, the teacher shook his hand, followed by Londo, whom looked like he really wanted someone to shake his hand, because he knew people wanted to shake it. Hibiscus instead opted for a small bow and nothing else. Londo wanted to stand on the chair unoccupied by the teacher, but that might have seemed a bit too much since they needed to be there to learn about the witch, so he stood behind the two of them as Hibiscus took the other seat (Unless another student joined them.)

Londo saw how the teacher got mad about the mayor letting a witch grow in their borders, meaning it must be really strong, so he made a fist pump, knowing that he'd have a nice fight. The only thing he knew about witches was that they summoned familiars, so it'd be an even fight with their numbers. Hibiscus, however, did not like that. She also noted how the mayor called it a she, and the teacher corrected him, saying it, meaning it used to be a woman at the very least, or the teacher was de-humanizing it... That was a bit worrying.

After the meeting, Hibiscus decided to hold her questions until they met back up with the group. When they got back with the group, Hibiscus decided to ask the questions she had stored, "A few actually. How exactly are witches born? You got mad at the mayor earlier for letting it grow. Also, he called it a she. Is there a reason for that or do witches have supposed genders?" Hibiscus asked with curiosity, as the mayor seemed quite adament before being corrected that the witch was a she.

Londo, however, did not have such questions, and only responded to Elisa. Striking a pose to show his muscles, he said, "Worry not! For I, Londo, the GREAT!, will be protecting you all in this mission. I shall not let any of you die or become spirit orbs while I am on the case! If need be, I shall brilliantly sacrifice myself for the greater good, because that's what heroes do!" Londo said, standing with one leg on the table and one on his chair while pointing to the sky heroically.

Almeida

It seemed like Elisa still had issues with her transformation, but all Almeida could do was feel bad for her, as they hadn't found out anything new (from what I'm aware at least). The girl had been stuck to the window the entire flight, but at least she wasn't getting sick like Lavi, from what Almeida could tell.

Almeida had gotten 'lucky' enough to be allowed to help with the cargo. Sadly enough, she couldn't quite figure out what was in most them. Some of it was fruits or vegetables, or other perishables, some even seemed to be munitions, mostly the metal crates, but the rest was pretty unidentifiable. Still, being at work and doing stuff easily managed to beat sitting still.

She was a bit surprised by how Suilen, the girl with the cane, had enough energy and willpower to explore all over the airship. The same girl instantly went off exploring Normaden afterwards. 'Talk about energetic...'

It seemed Hibiscus was willing to deal with Londo and the teacher. Almeida figured it was a sentence by her own making, so she wouldn't stop her. "Alright, good luck~"

Elisa, on the other hand, was eager to follow along with her. She even took her hand, making Almeida feel even more like an older sister. Meanwhile, Ozymandius seemed to have vanished like he had fallen off the ship into the void at some point. If Lavi and Ryan wanted to come along, they were welcome to do so. After going by a few more interesting places in Normaden (if there even were any). Throughout the journey, Almeida took a few pictures of buildings left and right, some seemingly uninteresting, some clearly made to stand out, all saved under a variety of folders. Old habits die hard, after all.

Almeida would eventually settle for a cosy looking coffee bar. She'd order a large coffee, as she felt like she'd need it, and check if the kids knew what to order. If not, she'd advise them to just go for the hot chocolate. When she noticed there was Red Velvet Cake on the menu, however, the rest of the group didn't get a choice and got ordered a piece without second thought. After all, it was something the entire world needed to try, at least according to Almeida. As for topics to talk about, unless the others would have their own things to say, Almeida would try to keep a casual conversation going about light topics, such as what music everyone liked or their favourite animals.

Eventually, the time to gather up again arrived, and Almeida was a bit surprised at how Elisa was the first to dash off. She had expected Elisa in particular to be a lot less eager.

Yuki was pretty straight to business, although Almeida found the expression 'this is where the fun begins' to be rather distasteful. The same could be said about the mission itself. They were risking a run-in with a witch on their very first mission? That was just insane. Even if they did only have to deal with the Familiars, the Witch would still be around. She'd try to take Yuki apart from the kids for a moment to ask her questions. "What's the risk of involvement of those previously acquainted with the Witch, and are you sure we should risk exposing someone like Elisa to a Witch?" Those were, by far, the two most pressing matters she wished to talk about.

Otherwise, Almeida had given up on trying to argue, as she knew where that would lead. She'd need to figure out another tactic to start her rebellion. As for Elisa herself, when the girl expressed her doubts, Almeida took on a pretty different tone. "I'm sure our teacher isn't silly enough to take on a fight she can't handle, otherwise she wouldn't be allowed to teach us, right~" As for the familiars... Almeida wasn't sure how to reply. "I'm not entirely sure what they'll be like, but I'm sure we can deal with them if we'll work together. Besides, you've got Londo to protect you!" For once, the kid she'd normally avoid like the plague actually seemed kind-off useful.

As for Hibby's questions, Almeida was a lot more interested in how Yuki would reply, as she already knew the answers herself. It was quite a nasty business when it boiled down to it, so Almeida wondered if Yuki would even be bothered to try to get by with a kid-friendlier version of it, or if she'd give it to Hibby plain and simple.

Once they were to set out, Almeida would try to keep the nerves of everyone down. "It's been a while since I've been in the forest, so let's enjoy the walk for as long as we can~" Up until the first signs of danger, Almeida would point out at some of the animals she might spot and at some of the more rare trees or plants she recognized, which wasn't an amount to brag about, but most likely still more than most of the kids would know.

Lavi Fluér

uzetyVn.png

Going back a bit before she had headed off towards Normaden and breaking the space time continuum, a quite common occurrence actually, Lavi could help blinked for a few moments as she seemed to be in a slight confusion at Suilen's words. As what might have been an obvious question did not seem to be for her at least, yet through it even before she answered it was probably understandable what the answer was. ''Oh uuh, Genetics? You mean like if I was born with them? Uh yeah. It was always a bit weird, but since I was born my eyes always had an odd color, I always thought it was more common since no one had asked yet this week, are they not?''

Regardless of the reply back, though she would seem very curious to whatever the answer may be if she could give one, she would resume the conversation. And let events transpire on it as it was, nothing putting much focus on it after the moment of it being referenced had transpired.

After an eventful ride during which Almeida was kind enough to try to cheer her on and a heartfelt reunion with the beloved ground, shared similarly by Phoebe even if she did not show it like Lavi. It was a comfortable sight, whilst it was not small by chance the town itself was small and personal. The large buildings which felt like they blocked out the sky and the oppressing feeling, the nauseating feeling the capital gave her was something that never passed there. But here the greenery and small rowed buildings had a lovely feeling to them.

''I want to see more of this place, I will see you guys in a bit I am gonna head off alone.''

If told to come along with the two of them it seemed like she didn't have much interest in buying clothing and was quite obstinate on being fine with no sweets, but if pressed by any of the two she would do it and seem it quite a lot savoring the taste.

If not then she would go around town, not trying to particularly visit a cafe or shop, but within a small park with Phoebe at her side, nuzzled up to her. She would look towards the sky slightly obscured under the shadow of a tree. Finding a few moments of relaxation where she could find comfort with Phoebe. Saddened when she would be called up by Miss Okamoto, she would every so often look towards the Clock Tower if it reached above most of the buildings and once it began to come close she would with no haste, but to be on time start to move back to the gathering place.

Hearing of what expedition would be done she seemed not the gladdest to hear it. Wanting to grasp at the fur of Phoebe, but instead Phoebe would be the first to move closer to comfort Lavi as she expected her to warn some feeling of safety still at this moment. She would walk close behind Almeida and Elisa during the travel through the forest, keeping a bit of a smile as Almeida attempted to keep the nerves down with marginal effectiveness. As through Lavi's head together with her worries also began some thoughts on what she.. well wanted or should do, and what the others will do.

By the time the clock tower rang for the students' rendezvous, Suilen hadn't gotten nearly as far as she wish she could have. Part of it, of course, was due to the unsteadiness of her gait, but most of it was due to the sheer amount of distractions around her. Uruk may be humanity's greatest bastion, possessing all the pleasures of the world, but Normaden had its own charm, distinct from the hustle and bustle of megamalls of Uruk. Boutique shops specializing in music boxes, streetside art plastered against red brick walls, a small gazebo constructed of woven vines, and half a dozen small restaurants called to her, and, alas, Suilen wasn't experienced enough to resist their allure.

At the very least, Drafi was there to eat what the overloaded sightseer couldn't finish, and was similarly there to remind her not to get too indulgent with the school's money. Cautious wisdom, truly, but reduced in efficacy when, exactly two minutes later, Drafi demanded that she purchase a cage of hamsters from a pet shop, so that he may feast upon their fatty flesh.

Such proposal was vetoed, of course, and Suilen returned to the group just in time, her pockets now laden with sweet and salty snacks. It was nice, really, especially because everything else was distinctly bad. A Witch in Normaden? And they would essentially be without supervision when they dealt with its Familiars? It was enough to pull a grimace out of her face, so she tore open a chocolate-coated wafer, broke it in half, mushed a couple of gummies between them, and ate it all in one go.

There, that was better.

Feeling very much like she was still in class, Suilen raised her hand, waiting for Professor Okamoto to turn in her direction before speaking up. "If you defeat the Witch before we beat any familiars, are you going to just wait until we do? Are we being graded on how many we beat before you're done?"

Child soldiers they may be, but they were still here as part of the school's curriculum, after all.

Despite almost blasting off to his seat, Ryan did notice Elisa's reaction. She might've been able to get the message, despite Ryan being unable to say it in its entirety. That had him puzzled for a while, enough to keep him quiet after acknowledging Suilen's answer, Ryan then smiled at her, as if confirming he heard her. As for Tidrog, he got more or less the usual. Most looks were on him, even for a moment. Though someone flirting with him hadn't happened to him for the time he has been with Ryan. Or so he thought at first, but then Almeida's laugh confirmed she wasn't, not seriously at least. In either case, Tidrog had no reason to be mean to her, so, after a cheery chuckle along her laugh, he answered "Haha, is that so? Why thank you..." He would've liked to add more to the conversation, but Yuki spoke up, indicating everyone that it was time to go. They can chat later, he thought, as he returned to his core form, just in case they were crowded in whatever ship they were going to travel in. Tidrog's guess was not far off, as both Ryan and Tidrog noticed almost upon first glance that there was several people loading one ship. Without being tasked anything for the flight, other than stay away from certain areas, Ryan just sat near a window on the inside of the ship and watched the clouds pass by for two hours. He had never set foot on anything that flew, but he did hear stories from his parents riding on various flying methods, his father even claimed to fly on a dragon once, that last one made Ryan smile in amusement. His thoughts went into auto mode early into the flight though, even dozing off for a while. Flying wasn't that entertaining by itself to Ryan.

Once grounded, Yuki proposed the group if they either wanted to take a look around town, or join her to a meeting with the mayor for info on the mission. Ryan didn't really want to spend time near his teacher, ever since the incident on the first day. So, when Almeida proposed to go for a walk, Ryan immediately jumped at the opportunity, energetically asking "Can I..." but he cut short half sentence, realizing he may have gone overboard there. Especially considering that Almeida's was an open invitation, Ryan clearly missed that part. He cleared his throat and asked in his more usual tone of voice "...um, g-go with you?". Once Almeida confirmed her invitation, Ryan would smile happily. He would follow the brave tan girl around town, noticing her unusual fascination with buildings, as she took pictures of rather regular ones along with the more remarkable ones.
The group eventually went for the aforementioned coffee, Almeida ordered for Ryan a slice of red velvet cake, which got interested in. He complimented that with a large coffee with milk, or 'latte', as the person behind the counter informed it was called. Ryan gave props to Almeida for her choice on cake, as it was very tasty. Ryan would slightly leave his shell with the people at the table the more they talked, putting a stop to the stutter and his tone of voice became clearer, though he would occasionally struggle talking to Elisa, but thankfully, she seemed to hold no grudge against him, which was nice, and further helped with his communication issues.

With the latte long gone, the trio headed for the rendezvous point. Ryan did notice Elisa being extremely cheery even while heading there. The confusion caused by this was quickly gone, as once Yuki debriefed them, she seemed insecure. Londo and Almeida attempted to cheer her up, and with nothing of substance to add, Ryan would just nod and smile warmly at her if she looked his way. With no particular questions other than those already asked, as always, Ryan would remain silent.

Professor Okamoto
gsaKz4R.jpg

Town of Normaden, Central Plaza, ~2:00 PM

There were, unsurprisingly, a number of questions asked after Professor Okamoto gave her explanation. She'd take things one person at a time, starting with Almeida, who seemed to want to pull her off to the side. Professor Okamoto nodded and asked the others to stay put while she and Almeida stepped out of the way to speak. As she listened calmly to Almeida's questions, there was a moment or two for the others to chatter amongst themselves and formulate their own questions.

Still, though they were a bit separate, Professor Okamoto still kept her voice down as she replied. "Anyone who would interfere is either already dead or temporary restrained." The second part of the question almost caught Professor Okamoto off guard. Had Almeida realized the truth? Well, she'd try to play it cool as she replied. "There shouldn't be any reason for you all to encounter the Witch, since I'll be taking care of it. But if trouble does arise, I'll be counting on you to look after the younger ones until I can get back."

Professor Okamoto would then return to the main student group and listen to Hibiscus's questions. Her expression clouded over as she listened, and as she began her reply, the bitterness in her voice was clear. Said frustration only grew more apparant as the speech progressed into more of a rant.

"I had thought this information would be taught in public schools, but perhaps not. Sometimes, the UMSS doesn't notice people who have magic potential. Since they slip past unnoticed, they often end up without a Bonded Spirit to assist them or a tutor to instruct them in the ways of magic. Their power continues to grow, until the inexperienced magic user becomes controlled by their magic, rather than the other way around. Their body changes into the stuff of nightmares, while their mind loses any semblance of humanity and is filled with the uncontrollable urge to kill and destroy everything. That is a Witch.

I chastised the Mayor because he was still thinking of the Witch as a human. Such thinking is an offense both to humans and to the person who became the Witch. That thing would kill and consume everyone in this city if given the chance; it is hardly human. And there is no known way to reverse the process. The only mercy we can provide to the human that was consumed is to kill the Witch before it kills everyone they ever knew and loved."

As her rant came to an end, Professor Okamoto realized that she had given in to her emotions a bit too much. She sighed, adjusted her hair slightly, and spoke once more with her usual tone of voice. "Sorry about that. Talking about Witches brings back a lot of bad memories. Put simply, they're former humans that have become monsters, and the only way we can help them or others is by killing them."

Well, hopefully that would be more than enough of an answer for Hibiscus. Professor Okamoto would try to change the topic as soon as possible, which would lead to Suilen's question at some point. "You won't be graded on how many you kill, per se. At the end of the day, all that matters is that the Witch and all its familiars have been eliminated and the threat to the area removed. But really, this Witch is fairly new, which means it won't have particularly strong familiars yet. It would be quite surprising if you couldn't defeat at least a couple in the time it takes me to find and defeat the Witch."

That was all the questions that were asked in town as far as Alatar knew, so barring any further questions or business (which will be handled off-screen/OOC), the group would set off out of Normaden but a moment later.

Normaden Forest, approaching Mount Hubert. ~3:00 PM
Jh5y6bN.png

Professor Okamoto led the group at a steady pace, though not as fast as she personally would've liked considering they had to travel at a rate Suilen could keep up with. She wasn't expecting any danger for a while anyway, but Professor Okamoto activated her Transformation shortly after leaving the city, just in case. She'd be fairly quiet during the hike, only speaking up if addressed. Almeida seemed to be the students' personal tour guide for the forest, which would help keep the students occupied with something other than just their hike and the coming battle.

After traveling for a while, though, Professor Okamoto called the group to a halt. Just ahead of her, the forest floor was covered in residual slime like that of a snail's trail. Well, a snail that was as wide as the average human, at least. "Nothing native to the forest would leave such a trail. We're getting close."

Professor Okamoto then turned to follow the slime trail in the direction more or less towards Mount Hubert. Though the foliage could hardly be called "thin", the trail was wide enough and the sunlight bright enough that it still glistened well enough to be followed. In addition, the trail also seemed to gradually be growing fresher and fresher. That didn't stop Professor Okamoto from pausing once more though. The slime trail continued on without issue, but it was the surrounding forest that caught the attention of anyone who cared about their surroundings in the slightest. The area for at least 100 meters in any direction had been utterly devastated. Numerous trees had fallen over, large chunks of dirt had clearly been misplaced, small pools and tiny rivers of water were strewn here and there, and the whole vicinity had the unmistakable telltale signs of having been set aflame.

"Was there some sort of battle here? Or is this the area that the Witch lost control in?" Professor Okamoto murmured to herself as she racked her brains on the most likely causes of the devastation. Yet after a couple moments of thought, she simply sighed, shook her head, and declared "We're moving again. With how fresh this trail is, we must be getting close. Prepare yourselves." Nimbly leaping over a fallen tree with her superior physical ability, Professor Okamoto continued in pursuit of the slimy prey.

And true to her word, their targets were soon located. The trees abruptly began to thin out once again, though in a natural fashion indicating a clearing in the forest was being approached. Stepping to the edge of the treeline would give a clear view of an expansive and verdant clearing. With the afternoon sun shining down, it would be the perfect place for a picnic. That is, were there not six green blobs slowly crawling across the clearing towards the mountain.

67RbXel.png

Professor Okamoto held up a hand to get the students to stop before entering the clearing and turned to face them. "Right, those are your targets. They're moving slowly and facing the other way, which means they probably haven't noticed us yet. You have a couple moments you can use to prepare, plan, and try to ambush them. As for me, I'll be on my way to the Witch's lair. Almeida, you'll be in charge of any decision-making until I return. If things go south, contact me with your AMB."

Her orders given, Professor Okamoto would retreat deeper into the forest and circle around the clearing to avoid catching the familiars' attention. Posts will enter standard combat mode upon any players taking offensive action or the familiars detecting you.

Throughout the trip, and even in to the start of the journey Ozymandius was quiet. They were heading into combat again and Ozymandius always attempted to clear his mind before combat and focus. Helpfully, Exceritus had not taken the opportunity to berate him for something or another, in fact she had retreated into his wand and was currently being quiet. He spent the small amount of free time they were given at a nearby park, quietly thinking under a tree, mindlessly engaging in his habit of disassembling and reassembling his gun. When the time came, he stood and regrouped with the rest. Listening to the short briefing, Ozymandius prepared himself by transforming and then summoning all of his available troops on the way up [-60 Prana]. Two men and a woman in modern equipment with assault rifles and another noticeably taller man with a machine gun appeared and fell into line behind Ozymandius at his orders. As they neared the clearing and Okamoto stopped them Oz turned to his troops and quietly ordered them, pointing to the left and right of the tree line. "Spread out and pick your targets. Wait for my signal to fire." He racked the slide on his gun as his troops moved and the professor melted into the forest. Each soldier spaced themselves about two meters from the next, with two of the riflemen on the left of Oz and the woman and machinegunner on the right. He'd wait for others to attack for now, listening for a plan.

Almeida

Almeida was a bit surprised when Ryan explicitly asked if he could come along, as she had already extended an open invitation. "Of course~" It turned out the kid was surprisingly normal, despite his situation and despite the odd talent of being able to put up with someone like Londo. It did seem like he struggled to talk with Elisa, which as a bit odd, unless there was romance involved. Well, Almeida figured she'd leave those kids of things for the kids to figure out among themselves. At the very least it seemed like Ryan was becoming more comfortable around them, which was a good sign.

Oddly enough, Yuki seemed pretty confident, both about how any possible source of interference was either dead or restraint and about how Elisa wouldn't need encounter the Witch. 'So I'm correct to assume that whatever is going on with Elisa might be affected by a Witch, or might even be similar to it...' It was not exactly something Almeida was eager to learn, but considering Almeida had been asked to observe Elisa, it didn't take her a lot to put these things together. 'And she's just shoving the babysitting off to me... great...'

Well, there was little else to say, so Almeida listened to Yuki's reply to the other questions. It was a bit surprising to see her get so passionate, but it was understandable as well. Suilen question was odd at best, worrying at worst. To that extend, Almeida deemed Yuki to fail at educating this kid, so she figured she'd step up herself. "It'll be our groups first fight against real opponents. If anything, that means we should focus on our team-work. It'll be crucial for us to cooperate well if we wish to progress, helping each-other forward instead of holding each-other back. If you'd ask me, this is a test of how well we'll be able to work together more so than anything else. It may not be an official grade, but if we fail too badly on that part, we're in a fair bit of trouble for the rest of the year."

The walk through the forest was pretty nice, although Almeida wasn't all that successful about keeping the kid's minds of the battle to come, as it was clear some of them were quite nervous. There was little she could do about, and to that extend, she was mildly relieved when Yuki transformed. 'Finally. Let's just get this over with.'

After following some slime trail towards a clearing, they eventually noticed six odd slime-like creatures. They were told to deal with them, with Almeida suddenly hearing that she was put in charge. Well... She didn't want to obey orders from a partially shell-shocked dude like Ozymandius, nor did she want to take orders from a kid, so this was probably for the best. "Alright."

Almeida quickly went over what she recalled about the others' abilities from training as she tried to form a plan. Luckily enough, Ozy managed to help her out, whether that was intended or not. If I'm mentioning abilities that Almeida is not meant to know from training, please let me know, as for ease of posting, I'll assume she's seen most of the stuff on the sheets during the training days until notified otherwise. "Alright, how about this." She said, as she glossed over the newly summoned soldiers. "We'll have Ozy's soldiers lure them in, wearing them down with ranged attacks. To distract them further, we can have Ryan summon Tidrog's projection to back the soldiers up when the familiars get close. Meanwhile, Ozy, Londo and Suilen can use the distraction to flank them from the right, while Hibby, Ryan and Lavi can flank them from left. If they are as unintelligent as they are said to be, Elisa's mirror will have them pass me and Elisa so we can attack them from behind when the others have flanked them. That way, we'll be divided in three groups. I suggest each group tries to take out one of them at a time. With some luck, that means we can halve the amount of enemies by the surprise attack and have the remaining three surround." Considering there wasn't so much time that they'd be able to go over any more detailed strategies, and considering Almeida wasn't sure how clever these kids were, she figured this would be enough of a challenge already. "I'll leave the method of attack up to you all, as well as whom to support, but I suggest we try to avoid recklessness. They might be relatively new and weak, but if all six of them attack a single one of us, we're in trouble, so stick with your group."

Suilen enjoyed herself as she strode through the forest, having exchanged her cane for a spear. Transforming around the same time that Professor Okamoto have, if only because she assumed that it was a signal for them all to shift into their magical forms, the long-haired girl became even more long-haired, her eyes gleaming with a line green iridescence as the ends of her hair became almost vaporous, gossamer strands floating in the air behind her. Her jacket bloomed out as well, now robes reminiscent of the hood of a jellyfish, while Drafi…trotted along, unbothered and uncaring about any of these hijinks. A Witch was a problem, for sure, but seeing how they weren't really getting marked on this, and how the students only really had to deal with its Familiars, Suilen wasn't feeling too concerned.

Maybe she was even a bit excited. There were many things you could find through online encyclopaedias, but Witches were all fairly unique, so there was a real good chance this is the first time anyone's really laid eyes on Normanden's Witch, huh? Something to look forward to, no matter how dangerous an encounter actually was.

When they stopped before the group of slimy familiars, Suilen smacked Drafi back into her Wand, the Spirit letting out a half-caw of disappointment as he zipped into his Spirit Core. No need to take chances and all. She hummed softly and, as phantom soldiers rose up around Ozymandias, Suilen too called forth her spirits. Swarms of bees shifted out from the mist-like ends of her hair, hovering silently around her, while a bright-white bird wove itself out of a single strand. With a wave, she sent them all up into the canopy around the slime familiars, prepared to drop in when the time came.

Then Almeida said something about flanking. Was the woman actually expected Suilen to stab those things with her skinny little arms? It was nice to see she had faith in her capabilities, and it was definitely something she wanted to work towards in the future, but…

Suilen blinked, then turned to Londo.

"You're strong, right? I'm not, so can you do all the punching for me?"

Hibiscus swallowed her saliva down as the teacher explained what exactly a witch was. She had not known because her father had kept her out of public schools. Again, for fear that she would become a mage. It all didn't matter in the end, and all it did was hinder Hibiscus's growth somewhat.

Londo however, DID go to public school and still did not know about the witch. "Huh, I didn't learn that in school..." He was still pretty hyped up for this adventure! Londo was kinda disappointed they wouldn't be graded based on amount killed, but he still wanted to go for a high score anyways!

After that, they started making their ways to the forest, and Londo was so excited he transformed early, "へん かん する! (Henkan Suru)" But that was ok, as it happened to 1 in 10 men and was nothing to be ashamed at.

Hibiscus, on the other hand, gulped, and only transformed when the teacher did. She hoped it would calm her nerves, and it did, but with a side effect...

"Hibyyyyy, I'm scaaaared..." Lyka said, coming from Hibiscus's book, "Quiet, Lyka, we'e almost there." Hibiscus said bluntly to her, watching out for unseen threats. In hindsight, having a pairing like this probably didn't work out well, but neither Hibiscus nor Lyka could do anything about it.

After the teacher left, Londo gave a wave to her, whispering at her, "Byeeeeee teach~!" Before listening in on the plan, and then commenting on said plan, "Nice! If I have a suggestion though, if you have any powerful attacks, save them for after we beat those slime things. In games, there are ALWAYS other, more powerful enemies after the initial batch. So I'm saving my patented TOUCH OF DEATH (tm) for that one when it comes out!" Londo said, fist-pumping triumphantly, waiting impatiently for the time to strike, "I'm ready, I'm waiting, I'm gonna kick some slime butt!" And when a girl in his group asked if he was strong, Londo smiled triumphantly, "The strongest! If you need me to attack something, let me know, and I'll knock it off its feet!" He said back to Suilen.

Meanwhile, while Almeida was discussing strategy, Hibiscus cut her right arm with her dagger slightly, moving the blade down her arm as the blood dripped down and collected onto the book, where it glowed slightly. Hibiscus then applied her Mark of Hibiscus to everyone in the group.

After the speech Hibiscus wiped her blade on her sleeve, nodding to Almeida, "I'll try my best Almeida. I don't have any combat spells, but if you want me to attack directly with my knife, then I will."

After that, Hibiscus also went to the opposite side of Londo, waiting for the start of the ambush.

Elisa

Due to the words of encouragement, Elisa acknowledged the presence of Londo for the first time ever: "Thank you Londo. I'll count on your protection." She gave a curtsey and with that action all of the over-enthuasism was gone, her face had returned back to it's normal state.

They walked towards the forest and Elisa had a shadow of doubt hanging above her. The scene that she had experienced before with the teacher being very scary. She was hostile towards her, and she could feel it, that this was they way how she would deal with the witch. She will kill her. And you are alright with that? Just like... Just like back there. Elisa's eyes were slowly losing the glint of life or passion. A witch could maybe have answers. Although I'm sure you are too stubborn to listen. Why is it that after everything it was you and not me. I was more perfect. I was more suitable. Elisa exhaled whispering in the air without uttering voice, only a thought like a quiet prayer. You shattered. Like many others... I didn't. That makes me the dreamer. I am Elisa. Not you. Be lost. You are only a ghost of my doubts.

Am I even talking with someone or am I just going mad. I know I need to transform again. However not just transfer. I need to return there... I need to borrow that power. My power. I am scared that I will return there. Still I know. The dreamer must always wake up.

Whatever internal conflict Elisa had, when they made it closer to the clearing, she had more of the gaze of an adult than a child. "Thank you, Almeida. I can protect you." No one probably heard what she had just said, and no one was probably paying attention at her as doing so would've averted their focus away from the danger ahead. When Almeida went on win the battleplan, Elisa grabbed her bracelet and took it off decisively and stashed it inside the small green bag. She quickly stashed it away, next to a bush while Almeida was still going over the battleplan.

After that Elisa would promptly return back to her place and wait for Almeida to finish up before taking a deep breath: "I guess I have to transform now. I'll make an illusion that'll hide us both. Hopefully they'll slip by. However Almeida..." Elisa would twist her lips into a pained smile: "My heart is made out of glass." Elisa spoke out and her transformation started from her chest. It was much more controlled. However it did not prevent her body from fracturing.

"I have a gift for you, I made it. Use it to lead us to victory..." Elisa would wave her hand making a gesture like she had something in her hand. The air itself fractured in a way like her body had. Elisa would turn to a smile and no one would really have any idea of what had happened, except for Almeida. For Almeida it'd almost be like the next fight was a deja vu, with the exception that she had no recollection of what was to happen.

Revelation used on Almeida.

Elisa would move next to a big tree closer to the clearing and use her cantrip. She would cast her phantasmal reflection. The illusion would show the exact spot where Elisa without any of the people who would stand next to her.

As they were now ready to start, Elisa had a strange feeling. Like she had done something that she shouldn't have. Before she only felt tired after coming back from transformation, however now she was feeling a sensation of fatigue despite of being transformed. It may've had something to do with the gift that she gave to Almeida. She gave Almeida an obscure gift of the future, and in exchange Elisa had the feeling that she had received an obscure memory of the past. With that memory came understanding of the spell that she had just cast. However Elisa was not certain of the outcome.

With question time over, the group made their way towards the mountain. It was very calming for Ryan, as it reminded him of the woods he wandered countless times near his home. As a matter of fact, Ryan felt rather nostalgic. As his mind got lost in thought, he stared blankly ahead. Who knows how long he had been that way, but the sudden light of a transformation smacked him back to reality. Ryan looked around, it was Yuki who transformed. Knowing she was more experimented, Ryan followed her example. The rush of transforming got him grounded to reality, as a statement declaring to the world he was ready to fight, but of course, he'd never know until it happened.
A while of following snot trails later, the group came across the so called familiars. Blobs of slime. In a certain form, Ryan felt relieved, not feeling quite ready for ferocious beasts. Yuki left, and put Almeida in charge, which Ryan thought was the best call. Surely enough, Almeida quickly came up with a plan, Ryan figured that the least he could do was follow the instructions. At some point Hibiscus, in her not so nice mode, came to mark him with her blood. The process of seeing her stab herself and then smear her blood on him was still unnerving. This time around though, Ryan put his focused face and kept it that way, not wanting to appear weak moments before battle.
On his flanking group was the aforementioned Hibiscus, which focused on healing magic, and Lavi, who couldn't transform at will yet. As they got into position, Ryan had been preparing to speak up, again, wanting to sound reliable to the two girls. "...I'll try my best to cover you both" as soon as he said that, he turned to look at their targets, in order to hide the hint of nervousness he started to feel, while also preparing to manifest the projection. He took a deep breath, and a faint purple aura started to emanate from him. Moments later, there it was, standing next to Ryan. The same height as Ryan, but with a different set of clothes which were the opposite to his, mostly white with black details and highlights, a very dark skin and white eyes.

Lavi Fluér

Making her way through the slightly opened trail how she moved herself was quite deliberate, out of nervousness there still kept a shaking in her however, making larger arcs around any plants as well that seemed to pose some sort of danger in causing a physical injury or worse by their appearance. As what curiosity and wonder she would have was instead replaced with a fearful sense of paranoia dominating her emotions. Phoebe out of precaution even with her disdain, had asked Lavi to prepare her within her wand may the worst situation occur.

As she walked close behind the others, she listened attentively to miss Okamoto, whom was passionate and emotional, she thought she must have lost someone quite dear to her to cause that tone in her voice. And throughout her explanation was quite trusting, in the words that she spoke, believing Okamoto did not lie to any of them at this moment but instead spoke her genuine feelings.

As their trek within the forest began to move further, the beginning of the muscus trail was met, the wet almost snot like liquid that lined the floor of the forest. Covering the fallen leaves, dirt and other debris entirely as whatever had moved across the floor. Whilst her stomach did not immediatly give out on her, she could not help but feel a bit sick to her stomach as she began to move alongside the trail, attempting her best to avoid the soles of her shoes to touch the filthy substance.

Eventually a clearing began to be met within the forest and a sudden order of halt, had been given, as she began to feel like her legs would give out from under her she looked into the clearing ahead of them to see the creatures whose bodies were made entirely out of that filth, what appeared to be eyes yet seemed to lack any structure to them and the large antenne that sprung from out of the large clump that surmised most of its body. She was a bit lost on what to do as she began to listen to Almeida, as a cold sensation, the origins of which were from a person she had paid little attention to during the trip with her mind elsewhere. The sensation of the mark being drawn upon her right arm disgusted her a little bit, yet kept herself in mostly. Heeding the words that Almeida spoke that she only half remembered she began to encircle to the left of the clearing. ''I.. I am so sorry I cannot be of any help like the rest of you...''

Description: Each rifleman is armed with an M16A4 Assault Rifle, they may spend 3 prana to fire the rifle. Every time it fires, it shoots 3 shots in a burst that travels in a straight line at C rank Speed. It may fire once per phase. The rifle has 1 durability. Each Rifleman has E rank stats.

Ozy listened to the plan and had no objections, other then of course that none of the kids they were with really should be out dealing with battles in the first place, but that battles had already been fought. Turning to Almeida, he nodded. He waited until he was sure everyone was in position and ready while hiding behind a large tree on the edge of the clearing. The machinegunner had set up on a dead log at the treeline, stabilizing his weapon with it, while the other three had chosen various trees to cover beside.

Action Phase:

Once everyone was in position, Ozymandius shouted his order: "OPEN FIRE!". All at once, all four soldiers fired at the nearest slime. The machinegunner let off three controlled bursts of bullets using his C rank perception and C rank Dexterity [-12 Prana]. The riflemen meanwhile all fired a single burst [-3 Prana to all riflemen] using their D rank perception. Ozy made sure to keep an eye on his tactician module that was installed on his comb, which told him the stats of all of his summons. Using the Comb he adjusted the targets receiving prana that turn to just be the riflemen, and adjusted the output to be 9 prana. [+3 prana to all riflemen next turn].

Slime Familiars Alpha - Zeta

Alpha and its crew were strolling through the forest in a hexagonal pattern, minding their own business. They had just finished their second lunch and were meandering their way back for high tea. That is, until some asshole(s) decided to shoot some bullets at them. Seriously, the nerve of some people.

Reaction Phase:

The familiars stopped all of a sudden when the sound of gunshots rang out through the forest. The brief lack of the soft squelching noise accompanying their movement was quickly replaced with a screech of pain from Zeta, who had been bringing up the rear. Delta and Epsilon also felt the sting of a couple bullets from the machinegunner that hadn't quite made their mark. Between the familiar group's previous speed and their proximity to one another, it was like shooting fish in a barrel for the trained soldiers. There was also no need to state the soldiers' attributes in the post, but that's another matter.

Zeta: -54 Aura
Delta: -6 Aura
Epsilon: -3 Aura

The group of familiars as a collective turned around to try and identify the attackers while Alatar abruptly remembered why he hated working with guns. There they were; four ugly, hideous creatures standing on two legs. Disturbing such a pretty forest with their disgusting features. How could they? They'd just need to pay with their lives. The formation now having been reversed thanks to each member pivoting, Zeta led the charge towards the gunners. Any previous laziness had been forgotten as they furiously squelched towards their targets.

Action Phase:

Having slimed their way back across the clearing in record time (not that they had been trying for previous records), the familiars were now close enough to begin their attacks. Blinded by rage thanks to one of their own being injured, as well as just being blinded by their limited intelligence, they single-mindedly targeted the enemies they had seen, with no thought given to possible reinforcements.

Zeta, Delta, and Epsilon continued rushing full throttle towards the machine gunner that had set up on the fallen log. Perhaps they had a bit of intelligence after all, or perhaps they just felt like taking different paths, but they split up as they approached the log. Delta moved to go around the log's right side (from the familiar's perspective), while Epsilon mirrored Delta. Zeta simply kept steady on, jumping about half a foot into the air to clamber up onto the log. If one were laying down on the ground, they might've been able to see little slimy leg stubs that had probably been the source of vertical motion. Regardless of the approach they took for the log though, as they closed in on the gunner, their upper portions leaned back before swinging their clawed(?) arms(?) forward and down to cut into the machine gunner. (Attack x1)

Alpha, Beta, and Gamma, on the other hand, turned their attention on the riflemen. At about 25 meters away, they slowed their rush a bit. Each familiar's claws reached down to scoop at the slimy material of their own body, collecting two gooey balls. The arms and upper body bent back and were swung back forward with great force, much like Zeta's had, but rather than slashing a target, Alpha, Beta, and Gamma hurled their slimy projectiles towards the riflemen, each familiar targeting a different gunner. (Skill use)

Reaction Phase:

Londo, after hearing the gunshots firing, immediately rushed in, shouting, "Sneak attaaaaaack!!" while running up to the slimes. His goal was to gloriously announce his presence, while also drawing attention to himself so the slimes would target him instead of anyone else.

A. If they turned to meet him, Londo would focus on the one closest to him that he had managed to grab the attention of, throwing two punches with his right hand into the slime, while guarding with his left.

B. If they instead ignored him, Londo would focus on the slime still closest to him, and raised both fists in the air, the hands gathering a sort of electrified energy, then slamming them down onto the head of the slime with his patented Fist of Fury attack!

Action Phase:

->A. Londo would then bring his right arm back for another punch, gathering energy, while pushing his left fist in front of him, then throwing his right fist forwards into a Fist of Fury.

->B. After throwing the overhead punch, Londo would follow it up with another Fist of Fury, bringing his arm back, then upwards to uppercut the slime into the air, making the slime involuntarily perform in skeet-shooting. If it was already dead, Londo would attack another slime the same way instead.

(Start of turn: +5 Prana)

Hibiscus nodded to Ryan, "I'll stay close to you then." And then scoffed to Lavi, "You better be sorry. We had time to learn to transform and yet you didn't, bringing us all down."

"H-Hibby, that's mean! Maybe she's just a late bloomer..." To which Hibiscus closed her eyes, "Hopefully..."

Hibiscus focused on remembering what her father told her shortly after arriving in the school. He had tried so hard to prevent her from being a mage, but since she became one anyways, he tried to teach her all he knew during that week in the letters they sent each other. One of them being that, since Hibiscus was a healer, she should stick close to her guard, instead of far away, unless some circumstances permitted it. This wasn't thatr circumstance. Hibiscus wasn't strong enough to climb a tree, and who knows what kind of dangers could appear even if they defeated these slimes. Londo did have a point, something else could appear in their stead.

While Hibiscus was thinking, the signal to fire happened, and the battle began.

Reaction Phase:

Staying close to Ryan, Hibiscus followed him wherever he went into combat. She would stab at a slime if it got close, but otherwise she wouldn't do anything. If anyone got hurt (more than 35 Aura) Hibiscus would heal them, but otherwise she did nothing.

Action Phase:

The same thing would happen here as in Reaction Phase, and Hibiscus thought to herself while the fought went on, I REALLY need to learn a ranged attack spell...
