The sweet and the vicious

Kaede walks down the street holding her newest rescued cat. She looks up at the sky. Talking mostly to herself, "It is going to rain on us isn't it kitty." The cat meows at her as the sky above her thunders and a bright flash of lighting fills the sky. Kaede looks around for shelter as the sky lets loose. She quickly tucks the cat under her coat and keeps walking, looking for a tree to ride out the storm under.

Kage looks up at the rain and then hides under a tree. Her unkempt black hair was wet from the rain and she was cold, hungry and wet. She smells a cat nearby and she instantly grows hopeful wondering if the cat will lead her to shelter. Kage had wandered the streets for many days without food and now she was on the verge of stealing food yet again. She noticed a girl walking in the rain and wondered if she would be nice enough to take her home with her, but only until the rain stopped. Then Kage would take her leave.

Kaede stopped walking as the cat jumped out of her arms and ran down the street. She sighed. She was tired from working all day and home was still a bit away. Her clothes were soaked through and her long auburn hair stuck to her face. She felt someone watching her and looked around once again. She spotted a figure standing under a tree. She made her way towards it wondering if it was some kind of animal. "Hello?" She called out only to be silenced by another boom of thunder.

Kage did not speak. She simply looked at the girl her eyes wide. She then chased after the cat and retrieved it.
"Here is your cat." Kage said smiling.
The girl had whiskers that appeared to be painted upon her face, but upon closer inspection one could tell that it was simply a birth mark. Kage was not sure what to think of the girl standing before her and she looked at the girl with utmost curiousity.

Kaede took her cat back from the girl and pet it as it rubbed its head against her hand and meowed complaints. She looked confused at the girl and stared openly at her ears. She saw a motion behind the girl and looked. As lighting flashed she made out the outline of a tail. Kaede forced herself to focus on the girl's face which was hard to see in the storm. "Um...thank you...I am Kaede...who are you?" She said with a small shy smile, keeping eye contact with the strange out of place girl.

Kage looked at the girl not really knowing what to say. She simply smiled shyly at the girl.
"I'm Kage." She replied.
There was nothing more that Kage could say. Kage was rather dirty and it was apparent that she did not have a home. Her stomach growled and she instantly blushed thinking that Kaede could hear it, though it was highly unlikely. Kage's hair was rather messy and her tail moved like a snake behind her.

Kaede looked at the girl and wondered what to do. She kind of had a small want to pet the girl's ears but decided that that would be rude and chose against it. Instead she looked at the tattered clothes and the girl's dirty face. She looked hungry. Kaede tried to figure out the best way to ask a question without coming of as rude or offending the girl. "Do you have a place to stay?" Kaede asked slightly nervously. She was worried what her parents would say, if they took care to notice. She had a habit of picking up strays, as it was in her blood too, but this was a girl ,Kage, was not an animal. She could talk and looked like a human...kind of... Despite herself Kaede found herself once again staring at kage's ears and tail wondered if this was really any different then picking up her normal strays.

Kage shook her said and didn't say anything to the girl. She was more intrigued by the girl's lack of ears and tail. It was different. She had always thought people like her were everywhere, but as of late, only people without tails and ear existed here. Kage wondered if the girl really was considering letting her stay at her place for a while. Kage didn't exactly like the water and her tail was getting all wet. Kage had a habit of mooching off others, but not intentionally. She just had a very welcoming face.

Her mind was made up as the girl shook her head. "Would you like to come and stay at my house for a bit?" Kaede asked. To herself she wondered how she was going to hide the cat ears and tail from the servants at her home. The servants that had nothing better to do then gossip all day. She was puzzled by Kage. She wondered why she had the ears and the tail and without realizing it reached out a hand and gently pet on of Kage's ears.

Kage's ears twitched, much like a cat's would. She smiled and nodded profusely wanting a place to stay for the night. Kage was probably about the same age as Kaede and Kage wondered if she'd have the chance to go to school. It was highly likely that the truance officer would send her to school if she didn't go or perhaps worse. Kage's ears were velvet like and if it was done right, her ears could probably be covered up my her hair. Kage could make her tail disappear at will so that wouldn't be much of a problem she hoped.

Kaede pulled her hand away as Kage's ears twitched. She then stood for a moment, biting her lip in thought. She sighed then turned to head home, motioning for Kage to follow her. She knew that it was rude to ask questions, her nanny had instilled that into her a long time ago, but the questions quickly slipped from her lips as fast and fluid as the rain falling from the sky. Where are you from? Why do you look like a cat? Have you ever been to school? Are you hungry? What is your family like? Do they look like you? Do you have siblings? I don't. Do you like cats? How about dogs? The questions fell so fast that she didn't even pause to let her answer them.

Kage was bewildered at all of Kaede's questions. She did not have any room to answer a single one of them so she just smiled not wanting to interrupt her. Kage followed the other girl without hesistation. She was eager to get out of the rain and she really wanted to bathe because she hadn't in a long time. She was aware that it probably wouldn't happen. She might get kicked out after the rain had stopped or it turned to morning. That was usually how it went. Kage looked as her feet made splashes in the puddles.

Kaede slowly fell back into silence. She had voiced all her questions and she didn't care now if they were answered or not. She just knew if she didn't ask them all now she would ask them at the wrong time. She looked at Kage again and at her home that was just up the road. She listened to her kitty meow and the thunder roll. It had grown quieter as the time had passed. She looked at her stray....She still didn't know quite what to call Kage so she stuck with stray. She could stick her in one of the many spare rooms or let her stay in her room with her. She shrugs and decides that she will decide that later. She was never good at deciding things now, it always had to be later. She tagged Kage. "Tag you are it." She said before taking off at a sprint towards her house.

Kage was confused as to what tag was and she chased after Kaede and tackle her, rubbing her ears against Kaede's shoulders. Kage was purring softly having ran faster than most humans. Kage could be more or less called a stray humanoid having been found on the streets by chance. She really wanted to know what school was like and she was wondering if Kaede would take her to class tomorrow. But Kage would need clothes first.

Kaede looked at Kage suprised, when she was tackled to the ground. Hearing the girl purr was actually kind of comforting. "Why did you tackle me?" She asked as she
pet kage's ears again before moving her hair to cover up her ears.

Kage just tilted her head to the side not knowing what to say and then she kept purring as her ears were touched. They twitched again as usual.
"Where do you live?" Kage asked her.

Kaede pointed to the house in-front of them. "Um...can you hide your tail." Kaede asked. "The servants talk and um your tail and ears arn't exactly ...normal." She admitted. She looked at her home again. Standing up she looked around Kage and up at her home.

Kage nods and her tail rather disappears from view. She looks at the massive house wondering what goes on inside it. She wondered if it was even safe. Kage thought it odd that tails and ears weren't normal... She found it strange that Kaede did not have a tail or ears. It was a rarity wear Kage came from. She also wondered what servants were. She hadn't heard the term used before.

Kaede blinked in surprise as Kage's tail disappeared. She sighed. "Come on", she said looking at Kage before walking in. The servants stopped working and stared. She ignored it at she and Kage were handed towels. "ARTHUR!!!!" She yelled as loud as she could for her favorite servant. "Hello Ms. Kaede, there is no reason to yell….Oh you brought a friend." Kaede rolled her eyes at the English man.
"Yes I did. Now have Francois set an extra plate and get out the cat food to feed my new pet." She said holding up her cat. "Also either you or Elizabeth bring an extra set of my clothes and P.Js to the ….red guest room please. We are going to go upstairs and get cleaned up."

"Yes. Miss." He said taking his leave. Kaede walks towards the steps motioning for Kage to follow only to get stopped by Elizabeth, who began to lecture her for walking in the storm. "Jim would have came and got you if you just called! You are going to get sick an-" Kaede cut her off. "It wasn't that bad and we weren't that far from the house Elizabeth. Now let us go get cleaned up."
"Us, who's us?" Elizabeth asks.

Kage hisses at Arthur and then realizes that Arthur is friendly towards Kaede. For a moment it looked as though Kage was going to pounce on Arthur. Kage does not understand Kaede's yelling and she mistook for hostility towards the English man. She wondered who Francois was and what on earth was cat food? She looked at Kaede in utmost confusion. Soon she is following Kaede up the stairs only to accidentally bump into her and look to see that someone is making Kaede unhappy. Kage hissed and prepared to pounce yet again. This time she was sure that this person was trying to harm her new friend. Kage's teeth grow sharper and her cat eyes grow even more narrow as she glares at the woman called Elizabeth.
