He nodded but blushed a bit. You said..."Welcome to Caldwell's Academy of Magical Talent. You are the first students who are strong enough to make it through the Picture. You have a magic core that can make you great Wizards and even Mages in the future. Your Magic Core will be your main tool in this Academy. There are other tools that you will learn to use as well.

You will become interesting people who will travel this new world and explore the other land masses. A few will stay home and be part of The Academy Island. I will need a Governor and an Archives Specialist to help me with my job. There will be more jobs as more students show up.

"I want to speak a bit on Magic and its uses. I want each of you to listen to this carefully.

Magic is a tool that can be used for good or evil or anywhere in between. The magic user must be aware of what he or she is doing and why. There are consequences to using magic. Consequences can be devastating if the magic user is not aware of all of the effects of the magic that is being used.

The magic user is only as strong as his or her body's endurance of the physical and mental abilities.

A) Physical Strength.

The magic user is only as strong as his or herself. Magic takes a lot of stamina to do and the body will be drained constantly when the person uses magic.

B) Mental Strength.

The magic user must be able to concentrate well, visualize well and think clearly as well as quickly. To do this we need to meditate and do mental exercises to make the mind stronger. Meditation is crucial to one's mental ability. This is the way one learns how to concentrate, block out unwanted noises, keep the mind clear of intrusions and to imagine the impossible.


Knowledge.

The magic user must be able not only use magic but know the 3 parts of magic.

1) What is the first part. The magic user must know and understand what he or she wants to do with his or her magic.

2) Next come How. The magic user must know each step of the magic well enough to actually be able to visualize the magic being done in each step until it becomes as simple and routine as breathing.

3) When is the last part. To cast magic the magic user must know when each step should take place.


An example of this is putting your shoes on.

What would be the need to put on shoes to protect your feet from anything that would do them harm or make them uncomfortable, ect.

When would be like when you leave to go outside not before going to bed.

How would be putting them on your feet before tying them and to have the socks on before you put the shoes.


Personal Laptop System

"Your next two lessons should be fun ones. Each of you will receive a Personal Laptop System or PLTs. Y our Personal Laptop System or PLTs will be a valuable tool.

You will have an independent study to fulfill called Mythical Creatures. And you will pick out your very own baby pet to study and care for.

Before anyone asks- NO. No you cannot use it to talk to anyone on Earth because it will not reach that far. We are in a different Solar System than the Milky Way."

*Hands out boxes with gloved hands*

"DO not pick up these boxes until you are told. They are super sensitive to touch. In fact, believe it or not, these LTPs are sentient. That means that it can think and feel on its own. I want to have you to be the first ones to touch them barehanded and imprint your aura on your own laptop. After your initial imprintation, the PLTs will only work for you. Now that each of you have a box, you may open the box carefully and do not drop it." he said as he thought, "Oh and then you said...." he stopped and then spoke. "The case is opened from the front like so. When it is open, you will see the screen, the keyboard, and some new features. Keep the protective sheets on the areas when they are not being use will make your PLTs working at its peak. For the moment, please remove the two handprint sheets then place your hands on those two pads like the picture that was on there. Leave your hands on the pads so that the PLTs will register your unique Aura. After that is properly done, your PLTs will only allow you to enter information on it. You will know that it is done because it will begin to ask you a series of questions starting with your name, age, gender, likes and dislikes.


After you have filled out those questions, you may open the folder up called Mythical Creatureology. You will find all of the pets that you may have along with a short description.

After everyone is done, we shall have a break and I will take you on a quick tour of The Academy. You will choose your own room and decorate it with items from the store."

Robes and Equipment Belt

Each student and teacher will be given robes to protect themselves while in class. The robes are of the magical sort and will stay clean. The equipment belt is issued to each of you. Each belt will have two pouches and two slender tubes. One pouch will be used for your own snacks and the other one will be for snacks for your pet. One sleeve will be used for your wand and the other one will be a guide stick for your pet.


Pets- You will look through the pet list to find a pet that interests you. After lunch we will go to town and you will be getting a pet of your own. I also have a list of items for you to purchase through your student account.

You will go into town for your new pet. I have a book located in the PLTs for you to scan through to see what you may have. Please choose wisely for you will need to be able to handle the pet for the rest of its life. They are sentient creatures. They will be either your friend or foe. You will have fun with them; have a lot of frustration, and work. Physical and paper work. In this book is an example of each creature and what is known about them. There are recommended tips to use. Each week you will turn in your paper work to me. However, we do not use paper here for normal work. Each of you a now have the specialized laptop. You homework will be on that laptop as well as your book will be in the case." he said.
 
"Quite interesting to have a photographic memory student. Now I want to know what pet you are intersted in the most. What kind of wand would be attracted to you? What can you do with your PLTs?" she asked.
 
Liam wasn't sure what kind of Animal he wanted. He scanned through and the first thing that caught his eyes was the Golden Lion. "My pet?" he asked. "The Golden Lion. I'll choose that." he said as he looked through the wands. "And for my wand..." he said. He was getting very irritated with all the questions, his body started to heat up and smoke. He saw a very very strange but kind of badass looking wand. It was black and had a type of silver, gray, tribal design on it. He pointed "This one...I don't know why but it's like it's call for my attention...just like the Golden Lion...but why?" he said to himself which he was speaking out loud. He looked up and lowered his head "Sorry.." he said. Thank god for his hood. "And for the PLT's...um..they help with info and other stuff, like classes and the like???" he said.
 
"What do you need for a Golden Lion? Do you realize that it must be ordered? And approved by the HeadMistress? Did you realize that all level one students will get the same wand? A wand that is called a Training Wand? And that PLTs is one of your most valuable tools? It will even change the colors of your walls?" she asked Liam as she crossed her arms.
 
Liams hand began to get very irritated..his hand began to get a spark of flame and looked at the teacher "Did you realize you ask too many questions?" he said as a plant beside him caught on fire and turned to ash. His eyes widen "Sorry...don't like to be put on the spot. Don't ask someone so many questions when the already summed it up. I do realize everything. I'm not stupid like my God Parents think." he said as his body nearly took aflame.
 
"You will be asked many more questions should you stay in my school. You are here to llearn and how am I to know for sure if you know the answers without questioning or testing you or making you demonstrate. Keep that in mind while you are here." Lady Violetta turned to the others and spoke to them as well.
"That includes both of you as well. One day you will want to tear your hair out because of all the questions that I ask of you. Be prepared for questions at all times. This is a place of serious learning. None of you are stupid. That includes you Liam. Each student's ability is weighed before the picture will allow the student to pass through.

Another thing is everyone must learn to control their temper. We will be doing many things together as a family. We will live as a family. Each of us will learn too much of each other during the next several years. Are there any questions?"
 
Jade leaned forward as she listened to Lady Violetta give her lecture. She made sure to pay close attention to her teacher, soaking in the given information like a sponge. When the teacher told them that they could open their boxes, she took off her gloves, revealing that her nails were painted green, and did so. Her emerald eyes widened in awe at the sight of the laptop. Good thing she learned how to type. When Lady Violetta said so, she removed the two sheets and placed her hands there so the PLT could register her Aura. The laptop seemed to glow when it was finished registering her, making the green haired girl smile. She opened the blank information on her laptop and looked it over.

'Hmmm, desired name, rank, age... Probably put my name without any numbers so it doesn't look stupid or something you'd find off a chat room.'

Jade thought as her fingers quickly typed, hopping around the keyboard with quick taptaptaptap sounds as she filled in the desired information.

Jade's ears paid more attention to what was going on not too far from her, but her attention was on the laptop in front of her. She listened as Liam told the teacher every single detail, right to the punctuation of what Lady Violetta said.

"My pet? The Golden Lion. I'll choose that. And for my wand..This one...I don't know why but it's like it's call for my attention...just like the Golden Lion...but why? Sorry..And for the PLT's...um..they help with info and other stuff, like classes and the like???"

Multiple questions ran through her head at Liam's "unique" decisions.

'Didn't he know how difficult it was to tame a lion in general? Didn't he have an idea how much freakin' meat this thing would need to eat before satisfied? Or when they roared? If that untamed lion was in his room and roared, it would probably be enough to make him go deaf. Why would a novice magic user want to go for the Golden Lion first?'

Jade knew the Golden Lion sounded extremely cool to have and would make a great pet once tamed. But actually taming the thing? And then having to sleep with one eye open at night so the thing didn't maul you while you slept? Jade mentally shivered at the thought. Golden Lion was an absolute "NO". Maybe she'll stick with Shadow Cat. Sure, it's going to be frustrating to train it, but it could be something she could manage. Plus, she wouldn't have to bring 40 lbs of raw meat and fresh kills for it, there was food for it in the store.

Lady Violetta asked Liam as she crossed her arms.

Jade had a gut feeling that something ugly was going to happen, just by stealing a glance at them.

"Did you realize you ask too many questions?"

Liam said as a plant beside him caught on fire and turned to ash. Jade's eyes widened at the sight and almost fell out of her chair.

"Sorry...don't like to be put on the spot. Don't ask someone so many questions when they already summed it up. I do realize everything. I'm not stupid like my God Parents think."

The green haired girl felt a little bad for Liam, she understood being put on the spot. However, Lady Violetta had every right to ask him those questions, he was getting a little ahead of himself.

"N-No ma'am." Jade replied as she shook her head "No", she stayed silent as she went back to doing what she was doing.
 
Logan looked up at the simple wall with a picture on it. "You have got to be kidding me..." It read 'touch to enter'. She looked around her. Maybe someone was trying to play a joke on her. She'd touch the canvas and it would shock her or something stupid like that. Seeing nobody lurking about, she turned back to the painting. "Caldwell's Academy of Magical Talents... Hmmm..." Maybe this was a real thing. Logan ran a hand down her arm. She was dressed in a black hoodie, zipped halfway up over a dingy white tanktop. She was wearing ripped jeans and converse with sharpie marks on them. Looking at her, she looked like nothing more than a "troubled teen". A lock of her thick, dark hair whipped into her eyes and she clawed at it. Maybe she was a troubled teen. She took a step toward the painting, reaching her hand out toward it. Did she really want to go to another school? Sighing her shoulder dropped. She had to, she knew it. She had no other place to go to. Squaring her shoulders she touched the painting with just the tips of her fingers. There was the sensation of the air squeezing around her and then she was falling, or at least she felt like she was falling. Flop. She fell on her bum on the grass. "For Chrissake... Was that really necessary?" Logan stood up. Looking around, it really did seem as if she was at the school now. Yet, there was no one around. "Hello?" She called out, walking towards the doors of the school, maybe there were people inside.
 
Lady Voilletta closed her eyes suddnely and then spoke rather quickly.
"Please excuse me for we have a new student outside. I'll be right back."
With a quick walk, she went outside to see a young lady at the door.
"Hello there and welcome to Caldwell's Academy of Magical Talents. I have started the lecture but I am sure that you can catch up with out any problems. My name is Lady Violetta and your is?"
 
Logan looked the lady up and down. She knew in an instant that this was the woman she'd have to report to when she was in trouble. "The name's Logan. Logan Blake." She rose one eyebrow, almost as if she were daring the lady to say something about her name. Looking around, she mentally catalogued the front of the school. She assumed if the woman had already started a lecture, then it must've meant that there were more people inside. She cracked her knuckles, out of habit. She was ready to see the kids she'd have to put up with for the rest of her stay here. She could only hope that not all of them would be idiots.
 
Zack and gingerly set his feet down as he was told and laid his chin on his arms as he listened to Lady Violetta. This quickly became a bore though and his mind drifted. He looked at his two classmates, wondering what families they had come from and how they discovered their powers. He could guess the powers, an especially easy task when looking at Liam (Fire) slightly harder with Jade (probably something like plants or earth). He was quickly pulled back to reality as the PLTs were given out and panicked slightly. He looked over to Jade and saw her opening the box and placing her hands on the laptop.

He quickly followed her example and looked at the information inquiry.

"Desired name, eh?" he grinned and quickly typed Prince of Water before hearing Liam starting to recite the Headmistress's speech and decided he better pay attention.

He zoned out again after as he looked through the pets, deciding he will be choosing an Avian most likely. When the smell of smoke hit his nose he looked up at Liam and Lady Violetta. He couldn't help grinning at her interrogation, a grin that quickly disappeared as she turned towards him asking if there were questions, and was replaced by he veracious head shake.

Suddenly she excused herself, leaving Zack a bit puzzled. He quickly filled out the survey thing, leaned back again, putting his feet back up and spoke. "All right there, Smokey?"
 
"Wonderful name, Logan. Please folow me and I'll lead you to where we are. This area is called Entrance Area. It is sections off for a purpose. When you get your pet, you can catch it quicker if it should decide to take off." Lady Violetta spoke as she walked to the second door.
"This area is called the Common Area. We are in the Lecture Hall at the moment. Students, I want you to meet Logan. Liam, please raise your hand so that Logan can sit next to you. Liam, will you tell Logan what we have covered so far while I get her PLTs ready and the next boxes ready?" Lady Violetta asked with a smile at Liam.
 
Liam sighed at the words and apologized after. Lady Violetta began to walk away, someone must've came through. Zack spoke to Liam and called him "Smokey". He looked at him and a grin rose from his lips as he snapped his finger and a spark of fire snapped at the back of his pants, burning it a bit. "Now I am...Liquid." he said with a grin.

Lady Violetta came back with a female, she was fire and he knew it, she was beautiful as well, very. Lady Violetta, once again put him on the spot and had him tell Logan everything...again. He stood up and rose his hand so she could sit next to him. A little close but his hood and his clothes made it to where she couldn't see his face. He looked at her,"Um..I'm Liam, as you already know, um, this is what she was you to know, sorry, but I have to say this..word..for word.." he said and then sighed, " "The case is opened from the front

the case." he said. He said word for word. He has an excellent memory. This is actually this first girl he's literally next to and talked with in his life. He was nervous, it didn't show because of his hood but the burning print on the take did show but not like anyone would know...would they? "Oh and, your PLTs will let you do all this especially choose your Pet of the kind, Wand, your information, everything. So..prepare yourself." he said.
 
Jade rolled her eyes at Zack's and Liam's nicknames for each other. How cute~ Maybe they'll become best bros like in those cheesy feelsy movies. Or become rivals trying to out do each other like any late night cartoon they called "Anime".

When Lady Violetta arrived with another student, a female student, Jade inwardly cheered.

'YES! ANOTHER STUDENT WHO IS A GIRL!' The green haired girl celebrated in her mind.

Her thoughts drowned in her cheers. She wasn't going to be the only girl in this class, and she was downright happy.

"Students, I want you to meet Logan."

That was all Jade paid attention to before she sunk back into her thoughts like an anchor. So her name was Logan? A girl with a name commonly used for boys. She did not pay any mind to that, the emerald eyed girl's mother's name is Forrest. Not the woods and trees spelling of 'forest' but the actual boy name 'Forrest'. Her grandparents were not the best spellers, unfortunately. She wore a mask of passive calmness, but she was very happy and relieved to have another female student here. One that would hopefully warm up to her instead of just tossing her to the side. It happened far too much after her 'incident' a few years back. But that was something the others didn't need to know. On a side note, maybe Logan could spar with her too. She seemed like a Fire type, and they often packed a punch. Not as much as Earth, but Fire types tend to make their punches leave 1st, 2nd degree, or gehh, 3rd degree burns. And depending on what they do (or if a explosion is invovled), it could also lead to complete hair loss. Jade instinctively grabbed her hair protectively, she didn't want that.

Liam looked at Jade and chuckled as she put her hair up a bit. "Us fire people don't set things on fire at every touch you know. Now, if you piss us off, than you might want to be wrapped in foil, that's when the real rage comes from." he said with a smile. "So, don't worry. Your hair is perfectly fine." he said.
 
Lady Violetta noticed that once again Liam repeated her lecture verbatum. She didn't really care for those who repeated for verbatum but maybe he is just the type that might be afraid of leaving something out. Or he had been forced to do so for so long that it is now it is part of his nature. She would just let it be for now.

"Veru well done, Liam. I see that you are paying attention. Now let's have Logan put her info in her PLTs. Let's have........ Jade will you oversee Lagon and make sure that if she does have a question, to answer the question, please.

Zach tell me what pet you wantto get and why, please." Lady Violetta sat a box in front of Logan.

She then placed a smaller box on each desk. While she was waiting, Lady Violetta took her belt out of her bookbag.Equipment Belt.png
Of coutse she was paying close attention to what was going on during this time a d taking mental notes.
 
Unamused Zack patted the charred mark on his clothing and was just about to flick water Liam's way when Lady Violetta came back, escorting a girl. Logan he heard her name was. Strange he said, but kept quiet.

"As good as revenge," he snickered to himself when Logan was placed next to Liam and asked once more to repeat the 'lesson'. He glanced over at Jade, seeing she was quite excited at the new arrival. Lady Violetta had in the mean time given out more boxes and took her turn asking him something.

"A Tweeter, m'Lady," he answered examining the before mentioned box. "A small bird as far as I can tell. Easily cared for and also very useful. According to the details given in your list, they can amplify our powers and be used for communication, because they have the ability to spark."

He opened the box, finding a belt with pouches inside. "Also they can sing and are easily fed. Anything else?" He removed the belt from the box, pulling a face. 'How ugly,' he thought.
 
"That is good but I'd suggest to get Tweeter in pairs. I will allow it because I have found that Tweeters tend to get bored easily. Which also means that they will and from what I have been told, can escape their cages. Get the larger size cage with plenty of perches, ladders, swings, bells and such things. You thought that out well." Lady Violetta spoke.
"I will be having a pet myself. A pair of special birds called Pheonixes. Liam, are you sure about the Golden Lion? They are a very large creature and will eat a lot. The Golden lion will take a lot of work and care but well worth the trouble if you decide to take the time to train it.
What about you, Jade? Have you decieded yet?"
 
"What about you, Jade? Have you decided yet?"

Jade looked over to her teacher. Had narrowed down her choices to two likely candidates, the Shadow Cat, or the Arcane Hound.

The Shadow cat would be easier to take care of since she could easily purchase whatever it needed from the store, and it would be perfect to leave alone since it wouldn't need as much attention. However, the Shadow Cat would follow her around, and that's not something she wanted if she was in the bathroom. Lovable and sweet was always something the green haired girl seeked in a pet, but it had to be vicious when needed. The Shadow Cat would not be so useful in battle except to disappear. So if she was down, she doubted her cat would be able come to the rescue, let alone take down her opponent. But a side note, Shadow Cats would be telepathically bonded to her, so it would actually communicate with her! Then again, so can the Arcane Hound. Turd, she would have to read her "special" books without thinking anything over to her pesky pet.

The Arcane Hound were very known for protecting their bond mates from danger, so it would come protect her if she was incapacitated. It wouldn't stop until the threat went away, which was something very useful and would keep Jade from dying in battle (or as a guard dog in other serious situations). Although the Arcane Hound would need some fresh meat, or whatever forage she could find, it needed much less meat than a Golden Lion or Cerberus. Hopefully the big guy would accept packaged meat or whatever she had to offer, she's no vegetarian so the emerald eyed girl is bound to have something. These buggers were also head strong, so they wouldn't be very accepting to be trained. All in all, a big frustration to try and get it to do what she wants. Super.

"I was thinking on Shadow Cat or Arcane Hound, but I'll stick with Arcane Hound. Loyal, quick, and strong Arcane Hound has more pros than lovable, sweet, and sneaky Shadow Cat.'
 
"Arcane Hound is a bit hard to trian but well worth the time. Shadow Cats are good companion creature but not so much of a fighter like the Arcane Hound. They are easier to trian however. Of course, whatever the pet needs, it will be covered while you are in school just like your needs will be taken care of.
However there are a lot of wants and little extras that you will be paying for out of your own allowance. Your allowance will refect how well you are doing in your classes. The better you do in your classes, the more merits you will get which means more money at the end of the week. The stores will have specials from time to time as well.
Any questions about the allowance and merits?" Lady Violetta asked.
