The Monsters Inside Us

Nate glanced in the direction of the burning flesh outside, taking a step as if tempted, but something told him that even if he got to the flesh, it was diseased and inedible. There was a slight groan before he took his step back again, rubbing his eyes and taking deep breaths as if to steady himself. He was starving, and he was scared. Like one having the sensation that they are being watched, he felt that exact same feeling intensify greatly, causing him to look back several times before he would answer Raven's latest question. "I...don't know," he said earnestly. "They...never said my name, just a number," he added, thinking that would be a better answer. She was dominant, he could tell, so any signs of aggression were wiped clean. Survival first, at least for now. Don't intimidate, and you'll get out alive. But what would he do after getting out? More humans were no doubt out there, and he rubbed one of his bare feet across the floor. He glanced a few times at the canisters, gritting his teeth. Drinking his own blood sounded good right about now. "That...those...are med...are used to heal wounds very swiftly once injected or ingested," he said, taking another breath from messing up his sentence several times. "The humans...use them often for...surgery so stitches are not needed and they can avoid the risk of infection."
Anna kept her solid stare which prevented him to proceed any closer. She even made a sudden jerk forward at him, making him jump back a few feet. She let out a loud laugh, and waddled back to sit down a few feet from Raven, holding the heavy medical box. "That snake is fun!" she said, continuing to giggle. Watching him a bit longer, she got a smirk that signaled a fun idea, and she reached into the container to pull out one of the canisters. It seemed anything useful he said about them was ignored as she waved the container back and forth in the air. As she thought, the desperate male eyed the container closely. "Catch!" she exclaimed, throwing the container with all her might. He leaped up to catch the container firmly, the container cracking from how tightly he held it. "Good boy!" the girl giggled and clapped her hands excitedly, and looked to Raven. "Can we keep him?" she asked, like finding a stray puppy. Nate opened the container with haste and drank it dry, his abnormally long and pointed tongue cleaning out the container effectively.

Reactions: Ritual Lobotomy
The feeling wasn't going away. If anything, it was growing stronger. Likely following Evelyn. Just a little further...

There! "Elevator. If I remember correctly, labs are bottom floor. Get in." he commanded Evelyn and York. Once the doors had opened, his stepped inside. Surprisingly it still worked, despite a flickering light that gave him creeps. He pressed the button marked "U7", likely for Underground floor 7, with the word "Labs" written next to it in faded black marker. He waited for everyone to get in, and pressed it. Down they went...

Evelyn was hesitant to get into the elevator. How the fuck was Lonalyre supposed to follow them? Unless... She prayed Lonalyre was, in fact, human, with all the brains that came with being as such. She also prayed that he wasn't going to get stupidly pissed as she stepped into the cramped space. She said nothing, stayed silent...

York stepped into the elevator cautiously... This would be an horrible time to get pissed off, hopefully nothing will cause that to happen. He needed to find where this project W.R.A.T.H. took place at, just the name itself gave him shivers for a reason he didn't understand just yet.

Raven Evans

Raven narrowed her eyes towards the newcomer. "Just a number, huh?" She still though about believing him or not, when he proceeded to answer about the box. "That...those...are med...are used to heal wounds very swiftly once injected or ingested," She did her best no to growl annoyed by his stuttering. "The humans...use them often for...surgery so stitches are not needed and they can avoid the risk of infection." Raven listened him through, though it all became quite tiring due to his confusion and insecurity. "Indeed, if you say so, Snake." She chuckled lightly. It sounded way to funny. Seeing how Anna reacted on him and how he flinched, amused her demon.

"Can we keep him?" Aked Anna and Raven looked at her questioning. "Why the hell you ask me that? Do whatever you want." Even though the words were potentially harsh, it was said in a calm and friendly tone that added some kind of creepy caring note to it. She really doubted the kid was any threat, but still she would keep an eye on both of those young scavengers. "If you can take care of him. I don't wanna know shit about it." Again, potentially harsh words with creepily caring tone as she got up slowly. "But name him for fucks sake. You can't just call him a snake, toots." With that, she took another cigarette, watching the boy sucking the bottles dry. Raven smirked and mumbled. "Motherfucking baby junkie."

She despised junkies. Not like she wasn't one of them not too long ago. She still enjoyed a pill or two to raise her mood, but the disgust towards other junkies stayed. However, as long as he was girl's responsibility, she couldn't care less. She looked around and referred to both kids. "So, any ideas on where to look for more crappy papers next?"

Anna didn't seem to catch the potentially harmful words, instead just listened to her caring tone. She was already attached to Raven, despite her possibly selfish nature. Nate didn't seem to care how they talked about him; the humans did that his entire life, or as far as his memory can reach. "Several others...were heading to a specific location...for 'answers'...if that is what you mean," Nate told her, leaning against a wall. The longer he stayed with them and spoke with them, the less nervous he seemed bit by bit. However, he was still cautious, if not worn out.
Anna walked up to Nate to circle him, trying to think of a name for him other than 'snake'. Tall, skinny, pale, ill looking...not many names for that. Next she sniffed him, and hummed curiously. "You smell yummy," she noted, shortly before reaching up to grab one of his wrists. A vine snaked out, and scratched his arm, making him retreat by a few steps. Glowing blue blood, almost exactly like the liquid in the jars, flowed out across the scratched limb. She jumped a few times to reach his arm, wiping a hand on his blood before backing up to lick it from her fingers. "Mmmm! You are yummy," she grinned, making him back up a bit more. She stared at his blood for a while, sucking on her fingers as she thought. "...I shall call you Lazul, after that pretty blue rock I saw in some books! (http://gem5.com/stone/70/lazulite/)" she said with a giggle, thinking the name being perfect. Gemstones were valuable for their beauty, but she decided a gemstone name because he was so delicious. She thought about treating him like some super rare dish of food, in which you force yourself to take a crumb at a time to preserve the delicious treat. That, and like a pet of course. Nate didn't really care, just so that he wouldn't be executed here and now, or later even. She walked up to him, making him walk into a wall as she looked him over. She frowned, his ragged shirt stained with his blood. With one swift move, she snagged his shirt with a barbed vine, and tore it off, revealing his current condition. He looked like skin and bones, his strained breathing easily seen now. At this Anna pouted, and crossed her arms. He needed more food, or bye-bye constant meal ticket/ pet. Then, she had an idea. "Follow me, Lazul. We will be right back, Miss Raven," she smiled, a thornless vine wrapping around Nate's neck. She led the way, Nate looking like he was being pulled along by a green leash. She led him to the room of supplies where she left the remains of the first scientist, and almost instantly he was ahead of her, pulling at the leash like a desperate animal. This made her laugh, and she let him go so he would crash into the cabinet, dazed a moment before hurrying to eat the remains as hurriedly as possible. Hardly a minute passed before it was all gone, even the stains of blood on the floor and walls. She waited for him to lick his hands and face clean of the mess before putting him on the 'leash' again, and led him out of the room back to where they last left Raven.

The steel box let out a loud ding as it came to a halt on the floor containing the laboratories the god-awful experiments took place in. As Alan stepped from the elevator the memories flooded his mind like a torrent of crucifixion, the pain of what made him who- nay, what he was today barraging him to make him atone for the atrocities committed since. And the worst part was that Alan wasn't even Christian.

But it hurt. The needles. The scalpels. The injections. The blood tests. The cold, heartless stares of the eyes of the men in white coats, mouths hidden my air purifiers, eyes by dark goggles. The inhumanity of them.

Shaking the horrid thoughts from his head, Alan turned to the others in the elevator. "Welcome home." he said sarcastically, and began walking off into the labs. It was here, the mouthless fog-creature that had no eyes. He wondered if the others had their own demons to follow them around. If they did, they were in this lab. Stalking. Waiting. Watching.

Evelyn braced herself against the railing when the elevator finally came to a halt, bouncing slightly as it was suspended in the elevator-shaft. The doors opened, and-

You sick, fucking whore, you let that motherfucker touch you. You're filthy, disgusting, you'll never be clean no matter how hot you burn!

It was a good thing Evelyn had braced herself in the first place, because the accusations hit her like a battering ram. She looked about the small, crowded space of the elevator, then to the hallway beyond the threshold. It wouldn't be anything she hadn't seen before. It wouldn't be anything that she couldn't handle, but she couldn't help the shiver that ran down her spine before she took the first steps out into the corridor.

The hallway was dark, like the rest of the facility, with only the few, flickering lights that hung suspended from the ceiling every several feet. Even then, only every other lamp worked. They had all done such a wonderful job of fucking the place up.

"Cozy," Evelyn muttered, stepping up to stand besides Alan.

A familiar presence was here... York didn't remember much about it, but he had that sneaking suspicion it had something to do with what this file folder he was holding onto is about. He stepped out of the elevator cautiously, considering reaching for his gun... The lab was all too familiar to him, this was where they reassured him that he would be "cured" of his problems, this was where that monster within him was brought to life. Perhaps it had already existed, and had simply manifested itself within him? All York could do was guess at this point, then he heard that accursed voice again "Nice of you to stop by...." The voice laughed, it seemed louder this time, filled with more hate than it already had been the last few times he heard it, it's almost like it had been waiting for him... "You won't get away this time..." It said seemingly right behind york, he turned around quickly about to draw his gun again, but nothing was there... He sighed, calming down again and continued on with the other two.
