He itched the inside of his ear, flicking the remains away. "Listen, sweetheart. Name one important person that doesn't have family problems."

Raine paused before chuckling. "True, you have a point."

"I know. I always have a point." He smirked.

Raine rolled her eyes. "I knew that was coming."

He chuckled. "Yeah, you walked right into that one."

Raine snorted and walked past him, waving to him. "Keep exploring if you want, just know I might get exhausted and might not be able to save you."

"What do you mean? You just took a nap." It seemed like he was going to follow her.

Raine snorted again. "Which was interrupted."

"So? Powernaps are like the best kind."

Raine shrugged. "to some they are."

"Are you saying you're not one of those people?"

Raine shrugged again. "I like my beauty sleep."

He looked her up and down, exaggerating his expression. "Yeah, I can see that."

Raine crossed her arms. "Uh huh. Like I definitely need approval from you."

"Hey, I'm an important person, remember? So yeah, you'd probably be better off with it." He smirked once again.

Raine rolled her eyes. "An important person to humans. Us witches could probably not care less."

"I dunno. You seem to care."

Raine shrugged. "I guess I care a little since you're under my care."

"You sure about that? If I was a betting man–which I am– I'd bet that you care a little more than if I was just a random houseguest." He said it as though he'd been living there for ages.

Raine stiffened a bit before nodding. "I'm sure."
