The Deep Dark

"Serves you right for laughing!" he calls over as he picks himself up. He picks up a branch and prods the animal with it to get its attention. He had an idea that would likely get himself injured. When the beast inevitably charges back at him, he plants his right foot firmly against the wall and sticks his other foot out to take the hit, which injures him more than asserting dominance. "Can someone tranq the damn thing or something?!" he shouts, trying to keep it back with the branch.

Late of course she was, it didn't matter why she only hoped that the group hadn't left without her or gotten too far if they did, did they even know she was coming? Courtney slammed the double doors open and literally ran at the black void in the room. The organization decided last minute that it could in fact be beneficial to them to have a neuroscientist on the team to "have a deeper understanding of the live organisms" wasn't there like a cryptozoologist there as well? Before she could even continue her thought process she was through and barreling into a forest setting trying to catch her balance. Looking up courtney called out "Is anyone there?"

A young man with silver spikey hair and was late. He walked next to one of the scientists that happened to be late too and sighed giving the impression like he didn't want to be there. He was also a soldier and had on a long sleeve black shirt and black tactical cargo pants a black leather belt with twin blades against his waist and a 357. Revolver holster ed on his right leg. He had on black leather boots and crossed his arms has he started to walk in

Courtney sighed in relief when she felt someone standing besides her. At least i'm not late by myself anymore. She turned to look at the man with spikey silver hair when he sighed and took in his appearance. He was wearing all black and had two very noticeable blades at his side and what appeared to be a gun. He was a soldier and his whole persona just screamed bad***. She had never seen someone with silver hair which was odd because she was a scientist and should be used to this kind of unexpected thing, but she wondered if it was natural and if it was what made it that way? Then her eyes were brought back to the swords and she absently reached out her hand to touch it but retracted it quickly when she realized what she was doing and quickly looked away and scanned the surrounding area for anyone on the team, she realized that she had been out right staring and hoped he was too busy looking around to notice.

He would then stop and look at the scientists and lift up his right hand point at the portal.. and in a very cold voice with no emotion behind it.. " let's go" he said not caring about her staring at him. He slowly stepped inside the portal and would cross his arms has he started to slowly follow the other scientists and soldier's trail. He sighed has he was waiting for the scientist that was late to walk in

Courtney followed behind the group at a distance she wanted to examine the oddly abundant blue plant life that surrounded them so she began to lag behind. No worries i can still see the group i'm not that far off. One plant seemed to shy away from her touch and she got a little closer. Curious. She looked up and noticed that from a distance a the group seemed to have come across one of the new worlds wildlife and it appeared to be charging at one of the men, then he yelled for some one to tranquilize it. She would introduce her self later.

In all the commotion, a loud, unidentifiable sound echos off the trees and the walls of the cavern. The earth cracks and crumbles beneath the team of scientists and their escorts. anyone not fast enough falls through the ground into the dark underground. Most were not fast enough. They don't fall for too far before landing on a massive bed of a soft, spongey plant. Jacob hits the plant towards the end and rolls off onto the cold stone floor with a groan. "If anyone sees my pack..." he yelps, having been startled by loose chunks of dirt falling near him. "Ah!" he finds his pack and digs around until he finds his torch. He flips the switch and the LED lights up, signaling to anyone nearby where he is. "Everyone alright?"

One moment Courtney was studying a strange plant and the next the ground was shaking. She looked over to where the group was and noticed that they were gone. "Oh man what happened they were here a moment ago, I should have been paying more attention. She continued to rush up ahead when she noticed a huge cavern in the ground and caught herself before she fell in." She looked down when she heard a voice yell up. They fell down there! She got down on her knees and yelled into the pit. "ARE YOU GUYS OKAY!!!"

He would run up to her and grab her by the arm has another chunk of earth was about to collapse underneath her and pulled her back. He looked at her and said " got to be careful..watch your surroundings carefully " he started to walk backwards with her " were going to need to get some strong line to get them out

Courtney looked at where she had previously been " Thanks. how many people fell down there, we'll have to pull them up one by one." She rolled up her sleeves "I'll help of course." Still a distance away but close enough she yelled into the ditch. "Can you guys do a head count how many people are down there?" Then she spoke to the soldier again "Do you know where the rope is we should probably get them all out of there before night comes we don't know what type of creatures come out at night here."

He crossed his arms looking down at them " don't know but your right we don't know what kind of creatures come out at night " he would turn around and place a backpack on the ground and opened it pulling out a some rope " soldiers down there should have the same gear too we should be able to get everyone out"

He flashes his light up to signal that he is still there. The dust is still settling. He looks deeper into the cave and points the light down there. "What is that?" he gets up with a groan and walks further into the cave towards whatever was reflecting the light.
