Superhuman Academy for Abilites and Control

Acacia glanced at him with a radiant smile. "I love plants - it's probably one of the few areas where I can do good with my ability. I can help plants to flourish and grow, and it makes me happy to see that." She smiled happily, and sat down cross-legged next to a flowerbed of small roses. Closing her eyes she concentrated. After a second one of the buckets of water from the other side of the courtyard floated over - the actual water, not the bucket itself - and she absorbed it into her hands for a moment. Opening her eyes, Acacia ran her fingers lightly over the base of one of the roses, and the rose blossomed and bloomed, growing upwards rapidly. Within a short time, it was a full-grown, bloomed red rose.

Well, that was slightly scary. Maybe these two were just victims of the north-south divide, as she definitely seemed more open and enthusiastic than he did. There was also simply the disparity in tastes and personality, something that was nothing to do with geography. And it was as a result of this that Charles thought that perhaps it was time to make his exit. Although her ability was impressive, he had no desire to sit around watching flowers grow. It made him uneasy, not to mention a little nauzeous.

"Well, I think I'd better go. Apologise to the others, make some more acquaintances." He said with much awkwardness, pinching his fingers around some locks of hair and pulling rather hard. He felt a little bit weird, deciding to leave, but it was a fair thing to be doing. It was natural to want to socialise with more people, particularly on the first day back at school, as quardoning himself off at this early stage was probably a pretty bad idea.

Annaliesa had seen Acacia's ability and stared at the beautiful plant with admiration. Though shy, she felt calm as she approached the girl. she stumbled, staring at the ground, careful not to make eye contact. She finally said something for the first time in a long time

"H-hello..." her normally mute voice quivered. She said nothing more, simply waiting, hoping for a response.

Lyon was back at the one place he promised he'd never return to, school. He cursed his mother whom was very ill and bed ridden for arguing with him about this, but he gave in, after all his ailing mother was all that he had left. His father was a drunk that vanished into the night and left them alone ever since finding out his kid was a super baby. His brother he hasn't seen in years who moved across the country and went into hiding after having the feds on his back due to public use of his power at a gas station. All that could be said was simple in Lyon's mind, he managed a chuckle.

"Nuclear melt down...heh...what suckers."

Now Lyon was walking casually about the campus like he owned the place. Could you blame him though? It was his senior year, he felt like he was on top of the world. Nothing and nobody could talk him down or ruin his fun now. He refused to be a slave to educational society. However, he had a weak spot for pretty girls and those in desperate need of help. Call it super hero genes, but Lyon wasn't kidding himself, he knew he was special, and that included all the perks and feelings that go with it. Now wondering around just outside the halls of the school something caught Lyon's eye, two pretty girls. It was as if an invisible gravitational field stopped him in his tracks completely and whisked him their way. Oh how he loved when that happened. He slowly tip toed to the two young ladies talking outside near a flower patch and took shelter behind a pillar nearby. He felt like a child spying on his first grade crush, but again, who was he kidding? This was kinda who he was. He listened to their conversation for a bit before deciding to butt in. After all, you gotta stalk your prey before you take the leap.

Acacia jumped with surprise when she heard a soft feminine voice and she looked up from her spot on the ground, to see a pretty girl standing in front of her. She softly replied, "Hello. I'm Acacia Tomlinson." She shifted over so there was room for this newcomer to sit down. "Um, are you a new student this year?" Acacia asked after a few moments.

As they tentatively began their conversation, the blonde girl sensed that there was someone else around, someone male. She glanced up every now and then but didn't see anyone.

Annaliesa became absolutely elated. She could hardly stop smiling and her heart was almost racing. Keeping her eyes away from Acacia's, she took a seat next to her.

"It... it so nice to meet you!" she managed, still smiling. "That thing you did with the rose was very impressive. What are your special abilities?" Annaliesa excitedly asked, simply delighted to speak to another human being. "I mean! If you don't mind me asking..." She corrected herself.

Because she was trying not to make eye contact with Acacia, she noticed a pair of feet that stood still a few feet away from her. She knew Acacia noticed them as well due to her unsettled body language. Annaliesa decided to brush it off as nothing major and simply continue the conversation. If you had not spoken in literally months, would you not do the same?

"I am a hydrokinetic." Acacia explained with a shy smile. "I can manipulate water with my mind. That's what I was just doing there now - I let the water absorb into my hands and then transferred it straight into the plant. What is your ability?" She glanced up finally and saw that the other girl was not making eye contact at all.

"Um, what's your name, if you don't mind me asking?" She inquired curiously as she ran her fingers along the top of a red rose petal from the flower she had just bloomed.

"My name's Annaliesa..." she first said. After a few moments, she finally answered Acacia's first question. "And I can't look at people's eyes. If I do, I absorb their past and learn their fears, their past, their sorrows... It's and awful process." Now that Annaliesa had spoken, she felt even more out of place and awkward than before. She hated her power and hated hurting others which is what her power was made to do. She was meant to interrogate but she never wanted to. She just wanted to be normal, have normal relationships.

With all the courage she could muster, she lifted her soft gray eyes and focused on Acacia's nose instead of her eyes. It was an odd feeling, looking somebody in the face for the first time in a while but it was... nice.

Lyon was getting far too bored waiting behind that pillar and listening to their conversation. At this point an eagerness arose in him to enter in their chat and shake things up a bit. He thought now was a great time since they have just begun the introduction process, why not add a third wheel to the female duo? With a gleaming smile across his face, Lyon shouts from behind the pillar trying not to startle the two and lets his presence known.

"What about my name? And my ability?"

Lyon casually walks around the pillar and takes a seat next to the two young ladies and gives them a smolder.

"The name is Lyon, pleasure to meet you ladies. I couldn't help but see two innocent women standing around and talking next to these...dangerous flowers. I mean, you never know, some student with crazy plant powers could go nutso and turn these flowers into giant flesh eating fly traps! AND SMACK! You'd be toast. Good thing I showed up."

Lyon gave a small wink to the two of them and hoped he had broke the ice with flying colors. This was the only way he knew how to talk to girls, let alone meet people. Being cheesy was his personality, his wall that he puts up stopping others from growing too attached or emotional with him. It was for his own protection, and because he wanted to show others he was confident, that he could take care of himself while also holding his ground in a moral battlefield.

Jewel practically had the inside to herself. It seemed that everyone else had went outside. She took the stairs, carefully, and made her way to the empty room that was to be her dorm. She would, on occasion, glance out the windows at the other kids outside. An older guy, she saw from her vantage point, was talking up two girls. One of them was her roommate. She was socializing. But Jewel wasn't. She was on her own as always. But why did she have to stay there, on her own? Why couldn't she go down to chat? Her words didn't break anything. Not yet, at least.

Jewel took a deep breath, then walked down to where the girls were talking. She didn't speak up right away, though. She was nervous, and as she rubbed her arm selfconsciously the fabric of her hoodie started coming undone.

Acacia's blue eyes studied the newcomer as he introduced himself, and she giggled at what he said. "Well, how do you do, Lyon? I'm Acacia, and I happen to have crazy water powers, so you better watch out, or I could soak that hair of yours." She teased with a grin, and lay back on the ground, gazing up at the sky which happened to be a light blue, completely cloudless. She loved the colour blue for any different reasons, but mainly because the colour was serene and made her feel at ease.

"So, what is your special ability?" Acacia glanced up at him with a warm smile.

"Um..." Jewel was quiet, but her nerves clearly showed in her voice, which seemed to be cracking the very air. Her attention was on Acacia, her roommate. "We haven't been...introduced yet...but...I'm your...new roommate."

Acacia left the other two talking as she stood up, and slowly approached the other girl. She smiled shyly, "Hi there. I'm Acacia." She brushed her blonde hair behind her ears, which were slightly pointed at the tips, almost pixie like.

Jewel nodded to her. She sure was pretty. Not a mess at all. "Jewel."

Well, this conversation wasn't going very quickly, or in Jewel's opinion, very well. She tried something else.

"I heard you say you were hydrokinetic. I...actually saw you use your powers a few minutes ago, from the window," she pointed up at the window above her. "I'm...uh...distructokinetic. Just want you to know in case you hear anything break later tonight," she added with a nervous laugh.

Aryn adjusted the sunglasses on his face and made sure he looked mostly normal- as normal as he could with wearing a leather jacket on a warm day. He entered the school building almost silently, thankful the school had accepted his request to have a room to himself. When people dreamed, they thought, and quite loudly, their defenses down. He made his way to his dorm room-4B- and set down his bags, examining the room almost idly. It was quaint, like an empty living room.

He grabbed his guitar from its case and headed outside, his jacket no longer on his shoulders, but his sunglasses still on. People were usually unnerved by the unnatural color of his eyes, an almost electric purple. He chose a bench near to a gardened area and began to play the old song "Brown-Eyed Girl". It was the first song he'd learned on guitar, taught to him by his mother.

His family, needless to say, no longer lived, except for him. His father, murdered, as was his younger brother. He and his mother had survived with physical and emotional scars; his torso was ravaged with them. His wings ruffled lightly in the wind and he stretched them out. His mother had wings, too, a beautiful shade of white. He closed his eyes and remembered the last time they'd spoken.

"Aryn," she'd whispered from her place on the bed. He was five, and half-asleep in a chair beside her. At his mother's voice, his eyes sprang open. "Mommy?" he mumbled. She smiled. "Come here, Aryn," his mother said softly. He'd obeyed and climbed into the bed beside her, happy his mother was finally awake again. "I'm sorry I was asleep for so long," she told him. He rubbed his eyes and asked, "Why were you sleeping for so long? Why couldn't I wake you up? I couldn't even..." his voice trailed off as he felt her nod. "It's time for me to go, Aryn." He twisted in her arms. "Mommy..." he cried, feeling what she meant. His mother wiped away his tears and told him to run. He did, and hadn't stopped since.

His finger slipped on the guitar for a moment before he slipped into another song. Music always helped block out thoughts, and he didn't want to hear anyone.

Jewel lifted her head up and started looking around. Music. Someone was playing music.

"Do you hear that?" she asked Acacia. "Someone's playing 'Brown Eyed Girl.' How many students are in this school?"
