Stay Alive
It's Us Against the World

12 People are brought together. Some day it was fate. Some say it was chance. Most can agree that it was jury duty.

May 27th 2022. A terror threat was made against the Boston Court House; either they wipe their records clean, or they wise the slate clean for them. Due to government policy, the courthouse refused to negotiate.

May 28th 2022. Everyone's fears came to fruition. An experimental radiation bomb was detonated under the courthouse, exposing the city to an unstable new element and flooding the city with a new string of radiation. The contaminated zone is greater than that of a nuclear blast. Meanwhile, the government places the nation into a state of emergency

May 29th 2022. Those affected by the new radiation are cut off from the uninflected. Brisbane is placed under quarantine and the city is cut off from the rest of the world. By the end of the day the radiation sickness has began to take hold of the city's population. Wireless communications into the area are cut off to reduce panic

April 30th 2022. The radiation has caused a collapse in the Resident's psyche. The city has fallen into anarchy. Men are eating men. Blood fills the streets. The Police are unable to handle the threat. Boston collapses.

A report of events are sent back to the capital. Rumour has it that the city is consumed by the world's first mass zombie outbreak. Rumour has it that the city hasn't a 100% contamination rate.

All except 12. A Jury, recently locked away to come to their conclusions on a high profile murder trial, were some of the first people to be exposed to the new element, and thus their bodies were able to get used new radiation before the Rad-Bomb was detonated.

Right now, they're the only pure humans they know aren't left in town, and if they're going to stay that way, they're going to have to stick together

To survive in the new Boston, you're going to have to watch each other's backs. You're going to had to rely on each other to find share supplies, find non-radiated food and avoid the hordes of Post-Humans that walk the streets. In a world without the laws of man or nature, only the law of the road will keep humanity alive

The Cast
You will take control of a member of the Jury of Survivors, 12 Men and Women summoned from all walks of life to pass judgement on a case. Your character can come from any background or occupation, however, normal Jury rules still apply. I.E. all characters must be 18 or over and can't have any experience in the military, police, politics or law (either practicing it or have a criminal record), and must be a perminant resisent of the state. Other than that, feel free to go to town with your character. Design them however you want. Their age, weight, wage bracket and skills are entirely up to you.

Mechanics
The game's key mechanics will be based around survival. As a result, character deaths will occur and may be fairly common unless you use your head and stay alive. This game will be bruatally realistic: you get shot by another survivor, you will have to tent to your wound or risk bleeding out. You get irradiated zombie blood in an injury? You need to make the call whether to cut it off or risk turning. You raid a grocery store? You need to make the call as to how badly the store will have been affected by the radiation, and whether or not to risk eating its food. Highly populated areas or locations other survivors will have rushed to for supplies will have higher concentrations of zombies, so you're either going to have to think outside the box, or be prepared to fight your way of the block.

It's also up to you to find what you're going to fight with. Any guns your wind will have limited ammo. Should you conserve it for a rainy day, use it to fight your way into mall ir waste it trying to rescue another survivor? Reload time will also need to be taken into account in this game: you're not Van Dam, so you're to need to use your weapons properly. If guns aren't your thing, maybe use a knife, but remember the consequences of handling radioactive zombie blood. Or maybe make your own weapon out of a lawn mower, buzz saw and bottle opener! You could call it the buzz-mower-opener! But remover the risk of things falling apart, or over carrying resources

Plot
In short- Stay Alive. You're going to have to venture across the town and try to stay one step ahead of the apocalypse. Maybe rendezvous with the national guard. Maybe get out of the state. Maybe just join up with some survivors and start a new society within Boston. Fortify yourself in a bank for as long as you can. Although the events of the game will push you along, you have the freedom to make your own life changing/saving decisions within the city. All you need to do is avoid death

Rules
1. Don't be a dick OOC. If it's IC, that's fine. Become a survivor scumbag if you want, but think about strength in numbers. Regardless of rivalries IC,keep things civil OOC.

2. No Godmodding. You're just everyday people trying to stay alive here. You can expect a random ship clerk to know jujitsu and have expert knowledge on the cures for radiation sickness. If your character is pulling Batman level feats, your way doing it wrong

3. No Socks With Sandals. The end of the world is no excuse. If it's too cold in your sandals, wear proper shoes. Wear socks and sandals and I will feed you to the zombies myself

4. Post length and frequencies do matter to some extent. We're not post Nazis, but remember, that he who falls behind is left behind. Get distracted for 2 weeks and without explanation, and the odds aren't your character is zombie food. If you're going to go away for a while and want to keep playing, just send me a PM and I'll auto-pilot your survivor until you return. It's all good
