School Days

"Brent was unaware of this...but I only had a couple of years left at the most. I didn't want to worry him. Donna and I agreed to going about our lives normally and to appreciate the time we had left." He looked to Kaleb. They were so similar in that retrospect. " He gave him a sincere smile. It was as if he knew about him and Brent. "That man gave me a second chance and I owe you for it. I'll do anything I can to keep your family and mine safe."

Donna and Brent were washing dishes together in the kitchen, Donna kept glancing over at her son and Brent was starting to get uneasy about it. "What mom?" he asked finally. "Nothing." She replied with a nervous voice. This made the blond sigh, "You're lying. I know you're upset about something. You keep staring." Donna blushed and shifted about in silence for a moment before sighing, "We heard you....there. I said it." It took him a moment to understand her implication. His face lit up and he looked down at the sink. He knew it had to be him. He was too loud. "Uhm...uh...sorry." Donna blushed too, then started snickering a bit, "Do you want to tal-" Brent interjected with a firm "NO." Donna laughed more, "Thank God. Keep it downstairs next time." He didn't respond. Instead he walked out of the kitchen and went past everyone, "Restroom..." he said nervously, and kept going. Donna followed as far as the dining room smiling, trying to keep her laughter in. They were a family of taking jabs and laughing at one another.

Kaleb watched Brent with his eyes as he left. He looked back to David and smiled at the man. He was glad that Acheron had helped David then. He could not imagine how sad Brent might have been with the death of his father. He looked at his mom and she looked back, giving him a knowing smile. He got a nervous look in his eyes at the look. "And I will do my best as well. I won't let anything happen to either one of us," Ameli said softly. She felt her phone vibrate and it was Jacob. "Hello... oh okay... Okay... Okay I'll be over," she said into the phone. She hung up and sighed. "That was my eldest son, Jacob. His wife has fallen ill, which happens after such a large vision and he asked for me to come over and help him," she said softly to everyone.

Kaleb looked a bit worried. "Send my best to Jacob and Selina..." he said softly. "I will... And I'll bring some food back if you would like," she said to Donna.

"Make sure that she gets plenty of rest." Donna said in regards to Selina. She wasn't sure about how much medical advice she had to give would apply to those with magic. "And yes, it would really help out a lot if you could bring some more of that amazing food. Good night and be safe." She said with a smile. David got up and stretched a bit, "Would you like me to walk you to your car?" He didn't want to let the woman to just wonder outside of their house with creatures lurking about.

Brent didn't go to the bathroom, instead he went downstairs. He was really embarrassed about his mom and probably Kaleb's mom knowing they'd been having sex upstairs. It took everything out of him after his first time to tell his mom so he could be tested, not sure about whether it had been an okay choice. So now he was taking the anger out by by making a bed for him and Kaleb. He made two, although he'd want to snuggle in with Kaleb. It would be suspicious otherwise with there being 2 couches and one bed.

"It's alright, Talon is out front so he'll watch out for me. He'll watch out for me," she said softly to David. She stood up and smiled to Donna, going up to the woman and giving her a hug. "Everything will be alright," she said softly to the woman. She pulled back and then went to Kaleb. She leaned down and kissed his forehead gently. "Love you... Be safe," she murmured to him. He nodded his head. "I love you too mom," he said softly to her. She held out her hand for David to take, since she didn't think hugging him would be appropriate. "I'll be back tomorrow morning with breakfast, if thats alright with all of you," she said softly before she said goodbye and then left. Kaleb stood after a few moments and went back to the kitchen, to help Donna put the dishes away and help clean up. He was a silent and respectful boy, helpful but quiet.

When Ameli left, Donna resumed work in the kitchen. She was presently surprised by Kaleb's appearance. "Why thank you hun, you don't have to help me if you don't want to." She smiled at him sweetly. He was such a good boy, despite jumping too quickly into a relationship with her son like that. She kept that opinion to herself. David had decided to watch a little tv as the evening was winding down to an end. He understood all that was going on, though he still needed to digest it. Brent stayed in the basement by himself, calming himself down.

"It's alright... I want to be of some help," he said softly to her, helping her put the dishes away and then clean up the table. He was very tidy and had the table nice and clean after a few minutes. He looked over at her and just smiled gently. "I have a feeling you know what really happened..." he said softly, so David wouldn't hear. He walked over and put some dishes away. "I'll just tell you something now... and you can choose to believe me or not, its all up to you.... I love your son... like he's the light in the darkness in my world. I would never think of hurting him... I just wanted to make that clear to you," he said softly to her, looking into her eyes, his eyes showing truth.

Donna stopped what she was doing to listen to Kaleb thoughtfully. She could tell that he was serious. He had an intense look in his eyes. After a moment of silence, the brunette closed her eyes and smiled warmly, "I'm glad to know that my son has someone that cares for him so strongly." She opened her eyes again with the smile remaining, "I really like you Kaleb; you're a very sweet young man. A mother can't help to worry about her son though. Especially at the rate you two have developed your relationship." It was a part of her personality to be truthful and sometimes a little blunt. She shook her head and chuckled softly, "I trust you with him though. I can tell by the conviction in your eyes and words you'll treat him good. He deserves it after the hell he's been through. He might not have shared with you everything, given your relationship. Leaving LA was the best thing for him, no matter how much he wants to go back." Donna felt that she might have said too much. She cleared her throat and tried to take to a lighter tone, "Now you should go on back down to Brent. I know he's probably burying his face in a pillow down there embarrassed that his mom joked about his sex habits." She gave him a little wink and a devilish smile then turned back to what she was doing.

Kaleb nodded his head to Donna and turned to head downstairs but before he did he turned back around to her. "Thank you..." he said softly before he left Donna there. He went downstairs and sighed to himself, heading over to Brent and pulling him up into a warm embrace, kissing his forehead gently. "I helped your mom out with cleaning up and such. My mom left a little while ago. Selina's a bit sick so she went over to help Jacob," he said softly to Brent.

Brent had still been pretty red in the face. Having Kaleb embrace and kiss him like that made it darker. He hid his face in the redhead's shoulder and held onto him. "I'm sorry I didn't say good-bye to her. Her food was so good." He mumbled. The blond could act pretty childish in some cases like this. "M-mom said they heard us....me." He admitted, "I feel so embarrassed and I'm sorry to have embarrassed you too." He had an issue about making those he had feelings for anything but happy. He felt that was part of the reason his previous boyfriend dumped him. He had this sudden feeling that he made Kaleb upset too.

"Its alright, I'm not upset at you Brent," he said softly. "And I know, I talked to your mom about it and how I felt about you... She understood surprisingly," he said softly to Brent. He leaned down and smiled, kissed Brent once more. "I like it when your loud..." he murmured softly to Brent, right into his ear. He smiled though and pulled back slightly kissing Brent on his forehead. He loved the blonde so much and he hoped he was showing it well enough for the boy.

Kaleb's words were very comforting to Brent, calming him down. He clung to the other boy tightly, returning his kisses and listening to him explain. "When this is all over with..." He finally said, "I want us to go somewhere nice that we can be alone." He whispered in his ear, seductively, "Then I'll show you how loud I can get. That was me holding back..." which was true. He was like a wildfire that couldn't be contained sometimes. He nuzzled his face into his boyfriend's neck then said, "We should go to bed...sleep for real." He laughed quietly at the last part.

Kaleb smiled and nodded his head to Brent. "My room is sound proof, since I play my guitar a lot..." he said back, just as seductively to Brent, leaning in and nipping his ear lob. When Brent said they should go to sleep now, he smiled and nodded his head. "Your going to sleep with me, right?" he asked the boy softly.

"We'll have to test that then..." Brent replied, kissing the redhead's throat. When he asked where he was sleeping, Brent looked at him like he was crazy. "Ptch, no! Why on earth would I want to sleep with you? You probably snore and drool..." He stuck his tongue out at him and furrowed his brows. The blond then began to laugh, reaching down and smacked him on the ass, showing that he was playing.

Kaleb pouted but laughed with Brent, jumping a little at the sudden slap. He chuckled at that and then yawned. He was in fact extremely tired. He went to the bed, pulling Brent along and then laid down on his side, pulling Brent into his arms and holding him close as he covered them up and curled up with Brent, spooning the blonde. He felt so peaceful and calm that it didn't take long for Kaleb to fall asleep.

Brent laid there for awhile, snuggling himself into Kaleb. He liked listening to the sound of his boyfriend breathing peacefully. He was so close he could feel the other male's heartbeat. That soothing sound made him drowsy and before he realized it, the blond was drifting away into his own little dreamland.

In his sleep he dreamed of performing a song on stage. It was dark at first and he didn't know where he was. He wasn't even sure what the song had been that he was performing. Then the lights hit him and he realized he was at the casino Kaleb had taken him. There was a huge audience gathered around clapping and cheering him and he was having the time of his life. Suddenly in the audience he made out Kaleb just standing there staring at him. He had a smile on his face, but stood there still. Brent waved to him. He didn't move and it bothered the blond. He called out to him. Still no movement. He felt himself panic. "Kaleb!" he cried out. Suddenly the audience shifted and stared at the redhead. They suddenly began to transform into hideous creatures that he had never seen before. Kaleb didn't move; he stood there just smiling at Brent. Brent reached out to him but he found himself restricted by chains. Suddenly all of the monsters lunged at Kaleb, causing Brent to scream.

Kaleb slept calmly with Brent in his arms. He didn't have to wake up in the middle of the night because he couldn't stay asleep. The warmth that came from Brent helped him stay relaxed. But as the hours passed he felt Brent begin to tremble in his arms and this caused Kaleb to start to wake up. He opened his eyes and looked over at Brent. He could see the fear in Brents face and how he was shaking. When Brent screamed out loudly, Kaleb sat up and pulled Brent into his lap. "Brent, wake up... Baby please I'm right here, wake up," he murmured softly, kissing Brent's forehead to try and wake him up.

When Brent woke up he gasped and his blue eyes opened wide. Almost instantly tears began to pour from them as he looked-up to see Kaleb, feeling his embrace. He wrapped his arms around him tightly as if he'd lose him if he let go. "I-it was....so terrible..." He said, hardly able to form words from the lack of oxygen. When he had originally went to sleep he was absolutely fine; confident in their plans of laying low. But his dream changed all of that and he was terrified. He didn't want to lose Kaleb, not when he'd finally found him.

Kaleb just held him close, holding him just as tightly. "It's okay Brent, everything will be alright. I'm right here, I won't go anywhere," he said to the blonde softly, letting him cry and let it all out. He was worried. Brent was a muse after all and they could receive visions if the vision is strong enough. He began rocking Brent gently, letting him slowly calm down. He wouldn't rush it, knowing that this was stressful for Brent and this was a terrible time. It was only two days until Mardis Gras.

Brent clung to Kaleb tightly, wishing he could stop. He was just so panicked even with the sound of his lover's otherwise calming voice. The nightmare he was so realistic and he couldn't begin to explain to him what had happened. Frankly he didn't want to. It would only put more worry and stress on the situation with the redhead. He didn't want to show any doubts; he wanted to remain positive and strong for him. His nightmares, however, he could not control. "I'm...sorry..." he mumbled with his face against the other male's chest, "i-it was only a nightmare...I'm just glad you're with me."
