When we hear the word vampire, either the grotesque blood sucking beasts from mythology or the modernized flashy version from pop-culture come to mind. Well, what would you say if I told you they actually walk among us?
The creatures roaming the night of Norland City could very well be identified as vampires. For numerous decades, hey have existed alongside humans- mostly keeping their identity hidden. As time passed, humans became more and more aware of them, and what a threat they were against the human race. Ever since the humans have fought against the creatures of the dark, trying to eradicate all evil from this world… but they never quite succeeded. The number of vampires and their minions kept increasing- many purebloods rising to high positions of power and influence. The Norland government realized that if they didn't do anything soon, the vampires would be the end of them.
So they proposed a truce with the purebloods, for the sake of everyone. If the purebloods swore to live according to several laws, they would not need to fear the government would cease their hunt of them, and they no longer had anything to fear. As long as the rules are obliged, ones safe. The Red Rose Court (Vampire Court) agreed to this, thinking it would be the best for everyone.
The Red Rose vampires which live according to law.
The Rebels which ignore the law and choose a life style to their own liking.
Eventually a third group appeared, consisting mostly of ghoul's unhappy about their position. They became known as The Vengeful, though the investigators tend to call them 'savages' and 'beasts'.
Another terrifying group has now made their appearance. Little is known about the Masked Society, but it is rumored that they feed off their own kind in order to gain power.

VIII.As long as these laws are abided to, no harm shall come to the pureblood.
While most pureblood's reformed to this new way of life without problem, there were quite a few which were not happy about the treaty. Conflicts started appearing within the pureblood community, splitting their population into several factions. II. A pureblood shall hand over any human witnesses to the Vampire Investigators.

Also commonly refereed to as 'purebloods', 'masters' and 'mages' are the 'natural' kind of vampire. They, unlike what is said in the legends, are not immortal but instead possess a lifespan which far surpasses that of a humans. Able to reach well into their two-hundreds, including the fact that they are all but easy to kill, it is not strange to think why the incorrect rumors of immortality were born. As the stories foretell, purebloods possess a inhuman strength and speed, as well as enhanced senses. Contrary to most beliefs, pureblood vampires do not live solely off blood. While it is their preferred nourishment, they also need normal food in order to maintain their bodies. In fact, the amount of blood they need to consume isn't even that large, yet they can't go without it either. Why exactly this is the case remains a mystery to most vampires, though the fact that if one goes without blood for a longer period of time, they will wither and die like a flower which has been refused water. In other words, they begin aging so rapidly that before long, nothing but a pile of dust remains.
The experience of a vampires bite is said to be unlike any other. Due to the endorphins released from their fangs in order to subdue their victims, many find it to be highly pleasurable. It perhaps be compared to a high caused by a drug, and indeed it is just as addictive. While the endorphins cause this sort of rush in the human body, they have no effect on other vampires. While vampires can feed of one another, it doesn't affect them in the same way. Drinking the blood of another vampire does have other effects, however. While vampire blood is poisonous to humans and ultimately degrades them into the pitiful existence of a ghoul, an vampire drinking from another vampire can actually become more powerful by doing so. By eating another vampires heart, a vampire can actually gain their abilities. This goes against the morals of most vampires, and has been strictly forbidden by the vampire court.
Unlike their lesser relatives, purebloods are living beings. Due to their long lifespan the birth rates among vampires are low, but they are still capable of conceiving children. They have incredible healing abilities, but that doesn't mean they can't suffer severe wounds or even be killed. A bullet to the head might not kill them, but plunging a stake through their heart certainly will. Pureblood vampires can be killed by several methods, though only some are really affective. As formally mentioned, damaging their heart to cease its function is one of them. Severing their heads and burning them also works just fine. Although coming in contact won't kill them, vampires have a weakness for silver, salt and iron. Salt burns, which is why vampires avoid it in larger masses. Silver does not hurt them, but slowly drains their energy, and thus also their ability to heal. Iron doesn't hurt, but weakens their magical abilities. Pureblood vampires can stand sunlight, although it makes them feel uncomfortable. It also weakens them physically.
Pureblood vampires possess magical abilities, which is also why they sometimes are referred to as mages. This magic is mostly element based, and often manifests itself when the vampire child reaches puberty. By rule, every vampire only possesses control over one of the elements, and usually even is only able to influence certain aspects of it.
There are several Element which a pureblood is capable of possessing. As a generality, ones element is unique, not determined at all by the Element of your parents' element. Someone born with fire magic could easily parent someone with a water magic. The exception to this rule is in the existence of Second Tier Elements. If one has parents whose elements differ, there is a possibility of their element becoming one of the second tier elements, which are notably more powerful than the Base Elements.
Base Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, and Air.
Second Tier Elements: Ice (Water/Air), Metal (Fire/Earth), Wood (Water/Earth), Lightning (Fire/Air), Light (Fire/Water), and Darkness (Earth/Air)
Mutations like these, as they are referred to, are exceptionally rare and only a few possess the second tier element. Just because one of the parents were second tier mages, does not improve the chances for the children becoming second tier mages.
Most purebloods live under the laws of the vampire court, abiding by a set number of rules.
- Goddmodding is under no circumstances allowed.
- I would prefer to get by without Mary/Gary Sues/Stues.
- Only I, Gladis, may move time forward more than 24 hours. Within that time limit, you may do as you please, as long as you sremain considerate of your fellow role players.
- Our characters are supernatural and have powers, but that doesn't mean that they should be overpowered. Everyone has their weaknesses, alongside their strengths. Be reasonable with your characters.
- DO NOT want to have any OOC drama. When out of character, treat each other with respect and kindness. Our characters may not like each other, but that doesn't mean that we have to dislike one another as well.
- If conflicts do happen (which it sometimes does), please contact me, the GM or a Moderator immediately.
- If you're interested in having your character be part of the MASKED SOCIETY, please PM me about it.
- I want the people who join to be active and dedicated to this role play. At least be able to post once a week. If that is not possible, please notify me about it and it can perhaps be excused.
- Correct grammar and spelling are a must in this RP. I do not wish to see any one liners, either. One proper paragraph per post is an absolute minimum.
- I, as a GM of this role play, have the right to remove those who do not abide to the rules by this role play. I will also add rules, should the need arise.
- I don't want this RP overrun by ONE character type, so please try and keep things relatively even.
- My final rule is that everyone should have fun and use their imagination! THIS I DEMAND! Muahahaha!
