[fieldbox=Anna, blue, solid] Anna looked down into the floor as Christian escorted her away from her ex. "It was hard not to hit him." She chuckled, trying to pretend that she was okay. "You shouldn't worry so much. It will give you grey hair." She said as she looked up at him with a plastered on smile. She couldn't ruin the fun for both of them. At the very least she could pretend to be glad so he could enjoy himself.

The hours passed slowly as Anna was debating with herself what to do next. She had promised Christian for them to create a bond tonight, but now she wasn't sure if that was truly what she wanted. Damien had stirred up too much inside her tonight. She didn't want to let Christian down but... Maybe she had to. At least until after she could speak with Damien. Once everything was resolved between them, maybe she would be able to move on.

Once again Christian left her alone to get a drink. Just as the few times before, she stayed where she was and waited for him. If she moved he would probably panic again. He was so overprotective sometimes. Though it was understandable this time, considering Damien had shown up. While Anna didn't have a thought of him being jealous, she knew that he could understand what an impact Damien had on her emotionally. He had been there for her so many times when she was crying out for someone who would never show up. Meeting him now, of course Christian would realize that she might be hurt by it.

She was looking after him as he left, and as she turned her head the other way, she was stunned to see Damien there. How could he speak so naturally to her? Wasn't it hard at all for him after all this time? "Yeah. I'll call you if I get time." Not when, just if. She couldn't say for certain that she would call him. First she had to calm herself and then she could start thinking about it. Anna took the card, blissfully unaware of the eyes that were glaring at them.
[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox=Victoria, grey, solid] Victoria was ignoring Damien for the rest of the evening. She pretended that they simply had different people to speak with and gave excuses for his absence from her side. If he divorced her, at the very least she would make sure she came out as the victim, and then when Anna disappeared out of the picture, she would make sure he crawled back to her. The great Victoria, daughter of the great vampire Augustus Antonette, would not let herself be beaten so easily.

*Crash*

A glass shattered in her hand as she gripped it far too hard, but she did not notice it at all. That idiot was speaking to that woman in public all alone. How did he think that looked? No, he wasn't thinking. She didn't even care for the reason behind their public display, it made her look bad when her husband was talking to other women outside of a group of people. "You're going to pay!" She hissed just before a few servants started to surround her and tried to help her clean her dress that had been bloodied because of the drink. [/fieldbox]

AFTER THE PARTY
[fieldbox=Anna, blue, solid]
Finally the party was over. It had been an exhausting night, mostly because of a certain someone. The party itself wasn't over of course, Anna just couldn't stay there any longer, so she had made up some excuses of being tired to Christian. Since she was human, those kinds of excuses would always work. No vampire would expect a human to have as much endurance as a vampire.

Her stomach was turning inside out. She became more and more nervous the closer to home they got. Not because she was getting linked to him, but because she wasn't, and she had no idea how to tell him. "Hey, uhm, Christian. About the linking. We should probably postpone it for a bit." She felt so pathetic. After all this time preparing herself for this moment, after even having proposed it to Christian herself, she couldn't go through with it. "I'm not saying we need to cancel it, but I need some more time to think about it. It's just that, a lot of things happened tonight." And she was sinking even further down into her pitiful state. "I'm sorry for being so selfish. I think I need a few days to calm myself from tonights events." Her hands were gripping each other so tightly, one would almost be intrigued to make a bet of which hand would break which first.

Christian came back to her side just moments after Damien left. He saw what he did, he heard their conversation and he did not like it a bit. There was a hard set expression on his face and he did not bother hiding it. Though, he asked Anna if she was ok, outwardly concerned that meeting Damien again would hurt her, the two of them would soon leave the party anyway. Christian couldn't have been more delighted. The sooner she was out of Damien's reach and sight, the better. In the car, he had her arm around her lovingly, keeping her close. Soon he woud make the link with Anna and then it would be so much easier to keep track of everything. But then she shattered his plans.

WHAT???? WHAT DID SHE JUST SAY??? Screamed a voice inside his head, echoing the panic and confusion that over took his heart. It reflected in his eyes as he looked down at her, frozen in place. "It's because of Damien, isn't it?" Christian spoke out, his words almost hurt. Work her damn it. She can't go back on her word! Another voice advised and Christian slowly retreated his arm. She already seemed to be quite emotionally cracked, he could certainly manipulate that to his advantage. And so he brought his hands to his face, shaking his head. "I should have known." There came a muffled statement of doom and an almost heart break. "I should have known, I never had a chance." He was not sobbing but the way he was so believably acting out his emotions almost made him near breaking. After all, he appeared to love Anna more than anyone before. He wished for them to be one and to have that now taken away from him on the night that was almost equal to something even more special than brithdays and christmas...it was difficult to deal with. Or so he acted as such whilst on the inside the old hatred and paranoia has awoken with a magnificent rawr.

His eyes were on her almost hopefully. As if he could beg her for the contact wordlessly, though he knew he had no right. "I'll be waiting." He said and it sounded and most certainly was a promise. Then his ears caught a shattering sound and a whisper somewhere and his eyes rose, seeing Victoria staring at him and Christian making his way back. Damien knew it was better to not stick around for his arrival, neither could he ignore his wife's injury, even if it was momentary. So he gave Anna an almost coy smile, an insight into how different he was on the inside opposed to how he seemed to the party. "Enjoy the rest of the night. Wish well to Christian from me." He still had to keep it acceptable before disappearing. Even though, rumours were most certainly already been created and circulated. He quickly arrived back to his wife and acted the part of a modestly worried husband.
[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Anna, blue, solid"] Anna flinched at the words. How could she be so cruel? After all he had done for her during these years, she ends up breaking his heart.

"Christian..." She put a hand on his shoulder and tried to get eye contact with him. "I'm not going back to him. I don't want to be with someone who runs away without a word." Anna tried to explain. "I want to be with you, only you. I just... Need some more time to let go. Tonight was a bit too.. Chaotic." She wanted him to understand, and she didn't wish for him to be hurt.

"I just need to calm myself after tonight's events. That's all there is to it." That, and to get to know what happened all those years ago. Would knowing give her some peace of mind? Hopefully. Either way, she should probably contact Damien as fast as possible. She couldn't leave Christian hanging for too long. How could he stand her selfishness? Just for a little bit longer, then she could give him what he wanted. Except if Damien actually told her something that completely changed the situation between them, but how likely was that? [/Fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Victoria, grey, solid"] Victoria refused to speak with Damien once they were out of peoples view. For the first time in her life, she ignored the person she was angry at instead of arguing or fighting with them. Fighting any more with him wouldn't lead anywhere. He wasn't afraid of her, her family nor her threats. Whatever she said he wouldn't back off. So for now she would just give him the satisfaction of her seemingly giving up on this marriage.

As they returned home, Victoria was fast to disappear from Damien and made sure the servants would keep an eye on the corridors so she could be warned if he came too close to her father's study while she was contacting some old acquaintances. Damien would not get away with what he had done to her. [/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Henry, purple, solid"] *Brinng brinng*

An arm reached out from underneath the blanket and tried to find the phone. After a few failed attempts it was finally reached. "What ya want?" A tired voice mumbled before the man yawned soundly. After a few silent moments, the body of a young man sat straight up and the blanket fell off him, exposing his bare chest. "What did you say?" Fully awake he listened to the words on the other side of the phone.

"Just do it." No words of interruption came from the young man as a beeping sound already could be heard from the other end. Shocked into silence, all the man could do was stare at the phone for minutes.

"This day did not start well." His head hanged low as he drew up his legs close to his chest. Did he really have to break his girlfriend's heart for that bitch sake? There had to be another way. [/fieldbox]

[fieldbox=Christian, #9400d3]
Christian shook his hand and guessing from her words and the tone, his acting was giving him the result he wanted. Yes. Yes! Go for it! Do it, Christian! Squeeze her little heart till it bleeds guilt and shame and she sticks to you just because she feels she needs to. Because...why would anyone love a screwball like you? Hissed a voice in his head and Christian leaned forward, fingers coming into his hair, eyes shut tight.

"Tell me honestly, Anna. It's all I ask." He said in a moment, his voice quivering as if he was afraid to speak the question. But his hues found hers and the greys were a perfect reflection of fear of losing her swimming behind a thin veil of held back tears. "Does any part of you, even the smallest one, still love him?" Somehow, however, this enquiry stabbed sharp at his heart. He was truly afraid she would say yes. He didn't want her to love him. He didn't want Anna to look at any other man but himself. That whispered sentence was genuinely filled with fright that she might leave him and for the first time, even the voices in his head were silent in astonishment.
[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox=Damien Dawn, #ffd700]
The silence felt like bliss to his ears. He expected barrage of curses, claws on his cheeks, threats of ruined life to fly his way. No wonder, when none of that came, Damien just relaxedly sat in the car and looked outside of the window, ignoring Victoria in return as he would anyway, even if she tried to argue with him. But tonight, his mind was elsewhere. It was with Anna. After so many years when he never thought he'd see her again, she showed up. His first friend. His first lover. The only person that he would tear his heart out for and die. He had to make this right. There was no other way. He would not stop until she would at least forgive him.

Once back home, he didn't care as usual where his wife went. He made his way to the large living room, served himself a glass of blood and sat down by the fire. There would be no imitated sleep tonight, only planning and hoping.
[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Anna, blue, solid"] It was a question she so dreaded to hear. A moment of hesitation stopped her from replying right away. Was it because of love that she couldn't let go? Or was it because of hate and contempt. Sure her body did react when she was close to him, but if it was the same romantic feeling as she once had felt for him, or just a lingering sexual attraction, she could not tell. The attraction was certainly there, but attraction did not necessarily equal love. Anna was quite desperate to find any way around her emotions so that her no wouldn't be a lie. She hated him, definitely, and the little feeling she still held was just an attraction not based on romantic feelings.

No matter how many times her mind tried to justify her feelings, she could not tell him what he wanted to hear. "Even if my heart only beat for him, I could never trust him enough to go back. I respect myself too much to get hurt by him again." No direct answer, and not a lie. She had no intentions of returning to his side. It was too late for that now. "I love you, and I trust you. That is something I could never say about Damien." Well, at least not the second part. The first part was too muddy for even her to know for sure.

Soon the car stopped at her apartment. She gave Christian a goodbye kiss and reassured him that she would call him within a few days once she had rested up a bit.

As she entered her apartment she fell exhausted onto her bed, not caring to change her clothes right away. One arm hanged over the bedside and her hand brushed the floor. She felt it sweeping over a few paper pieces. Right, Damien's letter. She picked a random piece and brought it up to the bed. 'Always love y' it said, with a few cut off letters above and below it. "Liar." She muttered. He wouldn't have left on his own if he had truly loved her. Not then. Not when they both needed each other. The night seemed to last forever as she laid there, watching the words as she waited sleep to take her in its arms and carry her away into another world of pleasant dreams. But sleep did not come fast no matter how exhausted she was, it took until sunrise before she finally was able to drift off.

~

It had been a few hours since she had woken up and it was already close to two PM. The girl was pacing back and forward with a phone in her hands. She had to call him at some point. The sooner the better. Maybe she should ask Christian to be there when Damien spoke to her... No, Damien might not feel comfortable speaking about such things in front of her new boyfriend. Who cared what he thought though? This was all his fault. Why should she make him feel comfortable?

After a long debate with herself she finally started to dial the number. She waited for the sound that would indicate that someone picked up or the answer machine took it. "I'm going to take the next bus to Leavenworth. If you want to talk, come to cafe Espressionista. Once the cafe closes, you'll loose your chance." It would only take thirty minutes to get to the cafe in the next town, and she doubted Christian would just stumble into them there. If Damien was as serious as he had seemed the day before, he would definitely make it no matter what. If he didn't, everything he had said the day before, and in that letter, was probably just lies she should get over. Before he got the time to reply, she turned off her phone. She packed a book, her wallet and an mp3 player, changed her clothes into blue jeans and a black long-sleeved shirt, then she got going. The next bus let her off close to the cafe around three. Damien would have five hours to make it there. Would he be early? Last minute? Would he even come at all? As she walked towards the cafe, she didn't even notice the figure that had followed her all the way from her home. Hidden when possible and in pretense of someone going the same way when needed, a young man was stalking carefully after the girl.

[fieldbox=Christian, #9400d3]
Even if my heart only beat for him... She didn't need to say any more. Christian wasn't stupid and she just didn't dress it well enough. She still loved him and the pain in his eyes was devastating. You little cry baby. Did you really think anyone could love you? YOU? You have no one else but us. Admit it. You're a miserable pile of shit. A psycho... The grumbling laughter resonated in his mind even as they stopped in front of her apartment. He did not answer to her. He did not return the kiss. He could only sit there and be consumed by agony.

In a way, it was an eye opening moment. He never really wanted her in the first place. She was just a toy. Feelings like love? They weren't for him. They were pointless. He has strayed too far from his ideals and it was time to stop. It was time to stop this insolence. "Drive two blocks away." He gave out a bark to the driver who asked for a third time where they'd be going. He was in no mood for stupidity.

That night he stayed on the rooftop of the opposite house until she fell asleep, which was his moment to refresh himself and eat and return to his previous position just as she woke up again. Anger rose in him once more as she did in fact call Damien. Whilst she didn't speak his name, it wasn't hard for Christian to assume such. She had the same business card that Damien gave her. Christian would have to deal with that son of a bitch. And what are you going to do? Chase him? Catch him? Torture him? Ooo! You could use that bamboo up the ass one! Remember it? And so the ranting went on inside his head, even as Christian went into phase one - stalking.
[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox=Damien, #ffd700]
Damien did not sleep that night. He did not care what Victoria did, he was content sitting by the fire and even if she came in and ranted at him, he probably ignored her well enough to block her out completely. Only with the first morning light, he left his armchair by the fireplace and went to refresh, changing into a new set of clothes. That morning he spent in his separate room from Victoria. They were rarely, if ever slept together these days. He managed to find and call a lawyer unaffiliated with either of the families and discussed with him divorce, not caring whether Victoria heard him or not.

But then, the significant call came. It was from an unknown number so he answered it but before any word could leave his lips, a voice too well known to his ears spoke. She called! She was actually willing to give him a chance and explain. She did not give him a chance to speak, but that did not matter to Damien. If he'd have a heart, it would be beating fast with excitement but nervousness as well. Seconds later he was out of the door with his keys. Did Victoria need to know? Not at all. He started his Mercedes AMG and skidded away. Leavenworth was a bit far for him but with lacking regard to speed limits, he probably drove there in record time. And the closer he got the more nervous he became. Just as he was arriving in parking, he could see the bus in the distance turning a corner. Was she here already?

Leaving his car, his instincts were too all over the place to notice two sets of eyes on him. One from a man he did not trust and was jealous of and the other from an unknown person. Either way, he disregarded any unsettled feeling aside from being given a second chance on redemption and he made his way into the cafe, looking around for Anna, looking just like he did back in the Academy. He'd tell her everything today. All his sins and his deeds. Their joint past.
[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Anna, blue, solid"] Anna sat down at a table that would keep them as far away from everyone else as possible, but where she still could be seen by Damien as he entered. It was a quadrangular table in a corner, with comfy beige couches on each side. The two tables closest to it were completely empty. Good, the less people who could accidentally hear whatever would be going on there, the better.

She had just put down the menu, ready to order a cup of tea while she waited, when she saw Damien. He arrived faster than expected. It wasn't like she had given him time. Anna didn't call out to him, his eyes were already searching for someone either way, and if no one else had miraculously called him out to that cafe, she guessed it was her he was searching for. Somehow he reminded her of their time at the academy. He seemed more energetic than the day before, younger than she remembered him. It made her kind of happy. At least until she reminded herself of how angry she was at him.

Anna waited until his eyes eventually turned her way and he could see her. She raised a hand in a 'hello' motion, though it was down within the second. Once he came into human hearing range, she started to speak."I must say I'm impressed you came so fast. After all, no one would have blamed you if you turned down such an unreasonable request." Coming out there on such a short notice without even discussing it first was definitely unreasonable, still she didn't wish to acknowledge how selfless, caring and desperate he was acting. Instead she spoke as if she though him an idiot, noting that it was unreasonable for anyone to do as she ordered just like that. He had her number from the second she called him, so he could have called back. Still he didn't. What an idiot. What a selfless, caring and desperate idiot. If she hadn't been so hurt by him, she might have let him know how much she adored that side of him. [/fieldbox]

[fieldbox=Damien, #ffd700]
He saw her rather soon. His breath catching in his throat at the simple sight, surprised to see her, but incredibly thankful she arrived. Even if she didn't, even if it was just a prank, he would sit in this cafe until closing, waiting, not feeling even a pang of bitterness if she stood him up. Swiftly, he made his way towards her. But as soon as she spoke, his features flinched slightly at her words. It was the same tone Victoria used but it hurt to hear it from Anna all the more. Not only it did not fit with her, and his memory of her, but she also had every right, even more right than his wife, to use it.

However, he sat down across from his ex-girlfriend. Guilt looming somewhere underneath the lines on his face and he hasn't even started to explain things. "It is not unreasonable Anna. You know it. You want and deserve answer. I want to give them." He replied simply in voice that spoke truth as he looked at her and the menu she held. Raising his hand up, he wanted to call the waiter. "Order anything you want. It's my treat. And no, I know you have money, but I am still old school." He quickly explained, guessing she could try and oppose. She used to, didn't she? God, it hasn't been that long since they were together but just his second guesses hurt him even more than the self-pity where his anger towards the world stemmed from. Eyes drifted away from Anna just to look for someone from the staff who could take order. This would be a painful afternoon. So many memories, so many feelings associated with his one and only love sitting across from the table that now rightfully hated him.
[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Anna, blue, solid"] Anna sighed. Didn't even let her get one word of refusal out before he continued his sentence. Of course she would have refused him paying for her, it was hard enough to let her boyfriend pay for her. It was the 21st century after all, no need for men to take care of the whole bill every time. Even so, she did not try to argue with him about it. There would be too much arguing about other things for her to have the energy to care about such a trivial matter.

"Fine." She said, plain and simple. She could make him regret his decision and order as much as her stomach possibly could take in, but her nerves were already on the edge, and eating was out of the question. Though depending on how much time it would take, she might end up ordering quite a few cups of tea before his explanation was over.

"Just some Chamomile tea please." She told the waiter as one approached their table. Chamomile tea was supposed to be a stress reducing tea type, hopefully it would help in this situation.

"So... I'm ready when you are." Anna told Damien as the waiter left. Oh how not ready she was. If only she could do this in a week, or a month, or whenever she actually felt she could handle it, but the faster she got it over with, the faster she could go back to Christian and forget about Damien... At least she hoped it would be that simple. [/fieldbox]

[fieldbox=Damien, #ffd700]
Damien ordered for himself a latte as he always would in places like this. Though he did not need it, it was good to keep up some sense of normality as far as human understanding went. When the waitress left, for a moment Damien's head was empty. Usually he'd know how to start a conversation, how to keep it going, but sitting here face to face with the one woman he loved and who now felt betrayed, he could not think of anything else, but reaching over the table...no...walking around and pulling her up to embrace her and make her understand through pure body language. Alas, that would be unacceptable. Even more so, she just said she was ready. But was he? He knew all he had to tell her, but words just would not come.

It was clear on his expression, so unguarded in her presence, that he was trying to surpass something inside his mind to start talking. Shame? Guilt? Pain of his own? Secrets yet to be told? A few times, he swallowed on his dry throat, before a quivering sigh escaped him. All in all, it did not take longer than few seconds before he said the main reason why he left. "I've been withdrawn from the school by my parents to stand a real trial for what I've done. Not only for what I've done to Gabriel but...a different person in the past. I know my letter posed my sudden withdrawal as my decision, but at that time it seemed much kinder of the two evils than telling that I've killed and might even be killed myself." His eyes were on hers, fear of judgement floating on the edges of his hues, knowing it would come. "I had no choice but to leave. If I stayed, you'd be humiliated too and for all I know, you'd be judged along with me and I couldn't have that. You were already suffering."
[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Anna, blue, solid"] What? It was hard to take in the words as he told her what happened. This couldn't be true. This was too far from what he had told her in his letter. If he had told her to begin with... Then what? She wouldn't have been able to do anything about it, just like she hadn't been able to do anything when he was forced into that chair and emptied on blood. Even so that did not excuse excluding her from that knowledge. Breaking her heart and disappearing as if he didn't care, that was too cruel. Though, knowing he might be killed any day and there was nothing she could do about it would definitely have been torture. He could have come back to her once everything had calmed down and explained everything to her. There was no excuse for him not to.

"Gabriel deserved what he got. How can you even be judged for that?" Turning a human into a vampire, torture said vampire, brainwashing and making her attack her boyfriend. That monster didn't deserve the life he got. "I don't know what you did in the past before Gabriel, but whatever it was, it must have been justified. You're not the kind of person that just harms someone without extremely good reasons." Could she truly defend him on that point though? She thought she had known him up until he left her so suddenly. How could she be certain he wasn't that kind of person? She couldn't. Even so, she believed he wasn't that kind of person. He might have lied and broken her heart, but murder was a crime many steps ahead, Damien couldn't have done such a thing.

"You might not have had a choice in your departure, but you could have contacted me once it was over, or you could have told me the truth from the beginning. Did you really believe that I would feel better knowing you willingly broke my heart rather than you possibly going to death row? You made me believe that you might come back one day when you regretted it. I waited for you. I was lying in agonizing pain in a hospital bed for months, just hoping you would appear at my side and telling me everything would be alright, because you could make the choice to come back at any time. If you had told me the truth, at the very least I would have been able to understand why you couldn't come back even if you wanted to. Yes, it would have broken my heart, but not as much as waiting for someone who had the choice to return and just didn't choose to take it." Even if she wanted to raise her voice and yell at him, she kept it low, though that didn't make her anger or sadness less noticeable.

Anna sighed and leaned back in her seat. "So, you were taken out of school and put on trial. You are obviously here now, so it must have gone decently well. What happened?" She definitely didn't want to continue on the topic of her broken heart or her pathetic attempt to cling onto this man for years after he left. [/fieldbox]

Damien swallowed on his dry throat seeing their drinks placed in front of them. But he knew that no liquid could get rid of the after taste of truth. That scorching and better feeling on his tongue. In a way, he felt gladdened that she still believed in him being a good person. It put a light smile on his lips as he looked at the latte in front of him. However, as fast as she graced him with kind words, her next words cut into him sharply, twisting his smile into a pained expression.

"I didn't have the choice to return. I regretted leaving you more than you can imagine, but I had no choice. The trial ruled me guilty on both counts of my offence and if it weren't for my family's influence and well...Victoria's family too, we would not be having this conversation." He looked at her with newly found intensity, hoping she'd understand. Memories of the trial and the consequent months were tearing him apart as much as Anna's rightful anger. "I served my time, something I would never wish on anyone else. And it all ended with being manipulated into marriage." His voice lowered as did his eyes. Admitting aloud that he was weak enough to be forced to make a decision still hurt his pride. It would hurt pride of any man.

Bringing his hand up, however, Damien rubbed at the bridge of a nose. "Every night of my sentence, I was thinking about...how we used to be... All the good memories were keeping me alive at first. But...they know how to beat one down. How to work on their mind and soul to break it." It did not even help that his own father took it upon himself to exert the punishment on his own son.
[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Anna, blue, solid"] Anna swallowed multiple times as she listened. Instead of drinking the tea that was now put in front of her, she just let her fingers brush the cup, unable to lift it. If she dared to pick it up, her hands would definitely shake out every last drop of tea on the table, or over her own clothes.

What was she supposed to do? She had a boyfriend. No decent person would even consider breaking up with their new boyfriend just because their old boyfriend was redeemable. She wasn't happy over the lies. Actually she hated the lies still. He wasn't forgiven for those lies. But how could she hate him after all he had been through?

Damien hadn't explained his sentence to her, but it couldn't be less than what he experienced in school, and most likely, it had been worse than that time. Anna's heart was aching. If she had known... She wouldn't have been able to do anything. Even so, she wished she had known. Having forced herself to hate him for years, it was the most painful thing she had ever done.

"Damien... I don't know what I should say." Conflicted over how to continue, she tried to find a way that wouldn't hurt him nor hurt Christian. "I'm truly sorry for what happened to you, but I still think you should have told me the truth, because then things might had been very different now." She tried to explain. "I loved you, but I couldn't wait for someone who wouldn't come back. I moved on because you told me that you leaving was your own decision. If you hadn't said that, I could have waited for you until I knew you were dead. I won't lie and tell you that I don't have feelings for you anymore, but Christian doesn't deserve to be thrown away because you came back."

Anna took a deep breath before she continued. "I sincerely hope that you can find someone whom you love and whom can love you back. As for me, I just want to move on with my life together with Christian, and I can't do that if you're in it." She knew she was twisting a knife deep into his chest, but she had to make it clear that she couldn't see him. Not even as friends. Christian wouldn't accept Damien in her life because of the pain their past had caused her, and she wouldn't be able to love Christian with Damien there to distract her. She'd rather hurt him and let him go than fool herself to believe it would all work out if she tried to start over from scratch. [/fieldbox]

He couldn't expect any less from her. Yes, each word stabbed a new knife in his heart and ripped it to shreds and his expression darkened and dimmed with realization. He didn't come here planning on winning her back. True, he wished he could do that. Oh, he prayed to gods she'd take him back, but all her reasons were valid and he couldn't, wouldn't dispute them. The silence fell on the two. Damien was still digesting Anna's decision that she did not want him in her life and perhaps it was the worst sentence of all he has ever received.

Standing up, he tried to give her a brave smile, but his eyes failed him. He was hurt, terribly hurt, but he was also understanding. The friend...the only friend he ever had now left him for good and there was nothing more depressing than that. "I hope that you'll be happy, Anna. It's the least you deserve." What was the point now for him to try and retell the story of their childhood? Whilst he was desperate, he knew he would only complicate her situation with that story and he did not want to do that. "Goodbye, Anna." He said at last, taking his leave. The muscles on his cheeks dances in the last disappearing threads of self-control. He'd still fight for his freedom from Victoria, but now...she could destroy him if she wanted to. He'd much rather be free from all of this than drag his past with him. Even though, he knew he'd always be dragging the memories of Anna with him. They'd be haunting as they rightfully should. The tragic story of his life.

[fieldbox="Anna, blue, solid"] It was clear that Damien was in pain. She knew that even before she saw his eyes. Even before she had finished her sentence. She was putting him right back in that chair, draining him on so much more than blood. "Goodbye Damien." It didn't come out before he was at the door, but it did come out. Saying goodbye for the last time was the hardest part.

Anna sat there with her tea for a long time after he had left. Nothing really hurt as she thought it would, she just felt numb. Empty. As if she just lost her heart. For a moment she thought about calling Christian, talk to him about what had happened, cry, be comforted and get over it, but in the end she realized the one she really wanted to get comfort from had already left, and she was the one whom had chased him away. For both their sake, she couldn't take her decision back. [/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="Henry, purple, solid"] Finally the man whom had sat down with Anna left the cafe. They hadn't talked for long but maybe that was because he was busy and they simply took whatever time they could find to meet one another. At the very least he was certain that was the dude she was dating. Why else would she meet a guy alone at a cafe like this? That was definitely a sign of more than friendship. Probably.

He smelled like a vampire too, so that was definitely a sign he had the right guy. Sure, he had never been able to know the difference between two vampires smell, they were all the same to him, but how many vampires could she be meeting?

Henry followed the man, not by foot mind you, that would be ludicrous. No, he followed him through the air. No one would pay attention to a bird. Sure, it was highly inconvenient to leave his clothes in an alleyway, but he couldn't keep up with a car any other way. It was lucky for him that even though his family's main animal was the dog, they still trained their children from a young age to make sure they could easily turn into a bird and a cat if the situation needed a fast escape. A dog needed an owner and without a collar, people would call someone to come get it. A bird was a bit too suspicious if it suddenly appeared inside somewhere, so it wasn't always the most ideal choice, but it was extremely useful outside. Cats were good for hiding without running away. People either ignored them or petted them before walking away, so they worked in many instances. He had also practiced other forms over the years, though he weren't able to keep them for as long as the main three and it took longer to turn in and out of the forms.

Once the car stopped, Henry waited until Damien got inside, then he landed in a tree close by. He waited for an hour or so before he flied around, looking into the windows until he found the man again. Then he knocked on the window with his beak which was holding a letter. A letter that explained that the person he loved the most was in grave danger. Once the window was opened, the bird dropped the letter and flied away. [/fieldbox]

Letter
You don't know me, and I don't know you, but we have something in common you and I. We both wish to protect someone we love. Right now, Anna Blue is in grave danger and without you, she might not survive. I cannot tell you who is after her as that would put me and my loved ones in danger, and I cannot tell you why since I do not know, but trust me, the threat is real, and the enemy is cruel.

You are probably wondering why a stranger would care for Anna and why you should trust me. I will be honest with you. I do not care nor do I know her very well, but if something isn't done, my loved one will suffer and I want to protect her. My hands are tied and I cannot move freely, so heed my warning and make sure to keep the girl safe.

He was hurting like never before. All the tortures he was subjected to now seemed to be minor compared to the ache he was experiencing. But, he still got to his car and drove away. He couldn't look back for it would crush him even more. But at least now he could sleep lighter, no? He cleared his name to her, didn't he? Then why did he feel like tearing his own heart out and throwing it to the wolves? He'd lie if he'd say that his wish was for her to forgive him, leave Christian so the two could start over, but even he had to agree that such thinking was naive. He should have accepted that shadow in his mind that told him that she would not do such thing.

He drove slow back home. Only once calling his lawyer to begin the divorce procedures. Victoria was his connection to his past in the academy. He wanted to rid himself of this link to the times that now came to symbolize pain. He arrived at his house and left the car quietly. He did not seek his wife out, nor bothered to let anyone know that he was breaking off the engagements he had with her family. Instead he walked into the library he occupied so often since the marriage went south and it was there that he received the letter. A disturbing letter to say the least.

He stared at it for a few moments, re-reading it and guessing whether it was just a sick joke or a genuine warning. Danger...Victoria said she would get rid of Anna and people she did not like had a terrible habit of disappearing. Damien did not see this as his chance on redemption, but his chance on at least from afar assure Anna's safe existence. Would he start watching over her just like he did when he was younger? Who knew... but for now, he had a better plan.

The phone rang just shortly, she never left him hanging for too long and soon he heard his name spoken cheerfully on the other side with the sound of party music in the background. He wish he could join in the merriment but his voice was grim enough to bring his only trusted friend from the high of a party to the ground of favours. "I need your help, Isabel. Anna's in danger and I can't take care of it myself. Meet me in couple hours in the city center?" He knew she would come. He also knew she will give him right bollocking for the way he is dealing with this, but from her, he could take it. From her, he knew it was well meant and placed.

[fieldbox="Anna, blue, solid"] As Anna returned home, she stared at the paper pieces that lied scattered in her bedroom. There was no reason to keep it now. She picked every visible piece up and put all of them in a pot, then she lit a match and threw it into the pot. She didn't intend to keep anything that could remind her of Damien.

The girl stood there, watching the paper pieces burn until the flames disappeared on their own and nothing was left but ashes. Did it matter though? The physical letter might be gone, but the words were engraved into her memories. How long would it take for those to burn out?

Anna picked up the phone and dialed a number she hadn't used in a while. Restless she waited until someone either answered the phone or she got to the voice mail. "Hey, Zoe. Long time no seen. I'm just wondering if you would be up for something tomorrow? A picnic maybe. I just need some girl time you know." Guys were just stressing her out at the moment, so maybe talking with her closest girl friend was the best option for now. They didn't see each other nearly as often as they should anyways. She was sitting in one of the many parks of the city, on a bench, knees huddled to her chest. Earlier that day her parents have done it again. Misunderstood her and argued and she just had to get out of the environment to not feel the blame put on her shoulders even if they told her over and over again it was not her fault. But she could see it. They were falling apart...as a family.

Zoe jerked strongly as suddenly the phone in her pocket vibrated, she tried to ignore it. Certainly it was her mother trying to get hold of her. But when it went for a little too long, suspicion grabbed the girl and she fished for the gadget, seeing the name of her best friend and her heart jumped as she hastily answered, suddenly worried Anna would hang up before Zoe would get the chance to say a simply hi. "Anna!" The girl said all surprised and excited into the phone which absolutely did not match her friend's voice and the light from her face dropped like solar eclipse.

"You ok Anna? I mean, I am in the Liberty park right now if you want to come and meet sooner than tomorrow? You sound pretty gloomy." She pointed out, knees dropping down so she sat cross-legged on the bench, looking down at the path.

"Yeah, yeah that sounds good." Anna replied. It was quite astonishing how well Zoe had picked up on her mood, or maybe she had just lowered her defenses too much when she talked to someone who wasn't part of her drama club. "I'll be there shortly. See ya in a bit."

Anna was almost out of the door when they ended the call. There was no reason to stay at home for even a second longer, there was nothing she had to do before going. Under normal circumstances she would probably have lingered to fix her make-up and possibly change her clothes, but she didn't care for those things at the moment.

As she locked the door behind her, she froze for a moment. Why was Zoe in the park all alone? If she had been there with someone she would have said so, especially if that someone was Henry considering Anna had told her she needed some girl time. Had something happened? It could be that Zoe just had been in the middle of a walk when she called her, though what were the odds? Well, they would meet soon, so if something actually had happened, she would probably get to know about it. Hopefully she was just a bit too paranoid. People did sometimes go to the park alone just because they felt like it.

"Hey, Zoe." Anna waved as she reached the park. It was extremely bright outside. Not the kind of weather she would have expected vampires to be out in a few years earlier, but now she knew better. Literally anyone she passed out on the sunny street could be a creature of the dark. The thought might have thrilled her younger self, but now it was nothing more than a passing thought.

"Why are you in the park all alone? Did something happen?" She asked concerned as she got to the bench. It was better to get her worried thoughts out of the way immediately. Otherwise she would just have a hard time trying to bring them up later once they had started to speak about other things. Finding the right timing wasn't always that easy when there were things you just had to ask.
