The World
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is the year 2567, and our planet has been dying a slow death for many decades. Consumed by the many problems that the twenty-fifth century has decided to blatantly ignore, Earth is no longer what it used to be. Global warming has made the sea levels rise, flooding many countries and consuming small islands whole. Even those who have managed to escape the wrath of mother nature have most of their territory flooded; in fact, according to recent estimates, the landmass available to humans has decreased by 67%. As such, it should not be a surprise that every single country has changed, including the United States of America. Now simply called Sector 38, the autonomy that its many states have possessed is completely gone, and its democratic system was replaced with a totalitarian regime. The few cities that have prospered under the rule of the new government have become sprawling metropolises divided into districts that may as well be small cities themselves.
Solar energy is a prevalent source of energy on Earth now, due to global warming destroying the Earth's atmosphere and increasing hours of daylight on the planet in certain areas. The planet has been introduced to many different sources of electrical appliances, and mechanical aids. However, the majority of the planet is a wasteland. Few areas are what modern day society would deem 'clean' and 'tidy'. Regions known as the Slums, where the rebellions devise their operations around, show obvious signs of ageing. Old signs lay torn away from their structures, along with 21st century cars rotting beside them.
The capital, Vinea, appears to be more up to date and suitable for the era. The cyborgs ride in several ways. Forms of motorcycles and aerial vehicles are main sources of transportation. Few of them have their own source of transport built into their systems, along with other additions too such as their own weapons. Projectile weapons are still common with their modern day alterations, most cyborgs hold some sort of weapon in their inventory.

The Story
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Advertisements spread across Vinea in Sector 38, speaking of an upcoming upgrade which was to be implemented into all human beings. Its name was "Project Rein". Little information was given across the live holographic streams feeding to the main precincts and city squares. On the advertisement, government figureheads, all sat in a line, explaining how Project Rein would benefit humans in Vinea. It would be a cure for disease and extend their life span, a way for families to no longer rely on technology to get by. They were informed it would be an investment of a lifetime, and people would thrive with their longer and happier lives. Along with this, after they had received the upgrade, it was no longer necessary for them to pay taxes towards their economy.
-
The majority of the population was rushing to the chance at joining this program. 89% of Vinea's population joined the register on their own accord. However, the other 11% did not agree with the compulsory demand and wanted a choice. The scientist behind all operations was Professor Führer, a lead academic and master of cybernetics and medical philosophy. However, little was known about this man, and his intentions behind Project Rein. He wasn't the face of the company or a figurehead which people familiarised with from commercials. As well as miniscule information being known about this man, people were starting to come to realise the very thin layer of knowledge they had on any of this. When these issues were addressed with the company, the responses were vague and bypassed the main points of question. People tried to enquire about those who had already been taken in to have the upgrade on the treatment, and see the features it gave them. However, they were just informed the treatment was not yet complete, and it would take longer than expected.
-
After some time, word got out about just what was going on at the base of Project Rein, and what was happening to families and their loved ones. It had become known that what Professor Führer, and the rest of the government and its military, was up to. It was creating another race, another species of sorts. They were making off with human beings and programming them with all kinds of technology. Which lead them to believe that what could only be described as Cyborgs were being manufactured with their bodies. Their false promises of all the benefits of the program was simple a way to keep the reality of it low key, and avoid any protest. However, Vinea wanted to be the most superior city that any Sector had to offer, and so they began building their own army. The theory was later confirmed when these beings joined the officers who came to escort people into Vinea's centre.
-
Through the years, as the scheme was being implemented; people were growing more fearful of the government and their actions. It had gotten to the stage where acts of violence were being carried out in order to force human beings from their homes, to the Program's institute. The government declared martial law and deemed it mandatory for all people to have these features integrated into their bodies. Causing civilisation to fight back, and rebel.
-
Rebellion groups started to split off into different factions due to disputes over leadership, and disagreements for choice in base operations. Some groups wanted to set headquarters in places like the sewers, and others argued this was too obvious. So what was once a collective colony of rebellions divided and parted ways in which groups formed their own establishments. There were particular districts within Vinea which different rebellion groups held 'ownership' over. These were in areas which were nothing more than slum's that were covered in graffiti. However, whenever one of the cyborgs would walk through the streets, and search high and low with every element of technology they had programmed into their systems, no sight of life could be found. Wherever they were hiding, it was good.
-
The majority of the Cyborgs stayed with the program, and did not attempt to escape. This was most likely due to the software set up in their newly functioning systems. The professor and any other with power, were able to command them against their will with just the sound of their voice. However, this did not prevent some from trying. Surprisingly, a small number of the machines detached themselves from the institute and fought bravely to return to their families. Selected few of the escapees remained on good terms with the institute. Due to this, Cyborgs could make trips to and fro from the main institute. Through this, they were able to provide their families with weapons, armour, food, and supplies. For so long this was occurring unnoticed, until patrolling cyborgs caught sight of others like them walking with packs. Although, as soon as another's locater locked on to them, their systems were scrambled. The rebellions had found the technology to cause this effect when the cyborgs were in a certain radius of their base.
-
So, whilst the once filled streets are desolate wastelands, minus the occasional cyborg officer patrolling, the slums somehow stay populated. Wars between rebellions and cyborgs break out, and undercover street fights occur within the districts of Vinea's prime locations. Where are the family members of the cyborgs searching? What will be the government's next move with their master race? What with some of the rebellions escaping the capital, will other cities or Sector's find out and interfere?

The Districts
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Significant Districts:- Please feel free to create your own as well, just add it in a description in your character sheet. However, for those who just want to slot themselves in to a district here are a few for your choice. For those who don't want a district, feel free to leave that part blank on your character sheet.
-
District AX-138: This region has been recognised to be one of the largest within the division of human rebels still on the planet. It's area is quite close to the centre, and their base has been rumoured to be set in the sewers which have not been used for centuries.
-
District AX-238: This region has actually been rumoured to be more of a female-orientated district. The group was strongly connected to District AX-138 initially, before the leader attempted to remove all rights they had to battle, and deemed them as pro-creating beings only. This meant that they were not allowed to promise their hearts to one, and were not allowed to fight in battle. They have been rumoured to live in what used to be an apartment complex.
-
District AX-338: This particular district has been known to stay hidden through this entire ordeal. It's where abouts are unknown due to the people who make up the group fearing the idea of death. It does not hold much technology or defensive capabilities but works as a place of keeping people alive, and healthy. Between the entire districts, district AX-338 has been known for its medical talents.
-
District AX-438: Little is known on this district, however its numbers are small and its where abouts are on the far outskirts of Vinea.

A Big Thank You!

This has been stressing me out for so long, I wanted to create a role play which adopted a cyborg element in a dystopian world. Many people aided me with this, so I would love to just give them some credit as it wouldn't be here without them. So a big thank you to them! (Particularly LStorm!)
